Sadie Rockin’s RP

The Date is July 16th, 2017, the time is 7:30 p.m. and the sun has just recently set, blanketing Vague City under a cover of darkness. The night is warm, it being summer, and the atmosphere is alive with excitement.

Tonight, hosted in a large building on the outskirts of the city, a slightly formal, mostly informal dance is being held by the RHG organization to, surprisingly, give the fans of the RHG a chance to meet their heroes in person and even dance with them.

Fans of the gladiator system have gathered from all over the world to get a chance to meet and even party with their heroes. Asides from the fans themselves, News Networks have also arrived to try and get a scoop on the highly safeguarded inner-workings of the RHG, hoping to get some answers from the fighters themselves.

1) Express interest
It should go without saying that the first step in joining this (besides reading up on the rules) is admitting you might want to join this.

2) Double up
But as the saying goes, it takes two to tango. Once we get a good amount of writers in this, what we’ll want you to do by the 19th is pick one of the other players you want to start off with. Note that while there will be room for (temporary and permanent) partner switches later on, you want to choose wisely here, and make sure you’re a wise choice yourself.

3) Declare character / Role
Part of choosing a dance partner means knowing which of you is playing the lead and which is playing the follow. In this context, that means one of you is going to be playing the role of a gladiator that was invited to the dance by one of their fans, and the other will be playing a fan of that particular gladiator who’s here to dance with them. Work with your writing buddy to figure out which role best suits each of you, and create / post a set of characters that both you and your partner are willing to work with by the the 23rd of July.

4) Settle in
When everyone has their partners and profiles ready, we’ll give you a few days to a week to read up on all of the other characters you may wind up dancing with as the roleplay progresses, as well as handle any partner disputes and last minute additions if there are any.

5) Write
Once we’re all settled in and everything’s ready to go, we’ll let you know when it’s time to write and where you’ll be starting.

First off, there is no rule on the qualities and traits of the fan / gladiator. Despite it being a “Sadie Hawkins” dance, the gladiator does not have to be male, nor the fan female, and in fact neither is required to be human. That said, it is important that you cater to your partner, and that your partner caters to you. If your partner’s gladiator is an amorphous animatronic changeling with a strange fascination with cats, your option as a fan would be to either appeal to this writer’s gladiator, possibly by having your character be an orange tabby cat named Charles XIII, or alternatively, find a more reasonable dance partner.

Secondly, if there were a rule on the qualities and traits of the fan / gladiator, it would be that you do give detailed descriptions so that your roleplay partners can definitively say whether or not their dance partner Ralph is or isn’t an 8ft tall homophobic salamander that smells like a butt.

Thirdly, the basics of playing an RP, don’t control another person’s character. Allow other players to respond to your character’s questions or react to your character’s action, just basic role-playing etiquette.

Fourthly, a quick suggestion more than a rule for creating your character for this RP. If you don’t wish to use your wRHG as your active character in the RP, you may use another OC who you wish to develop as a character instead of having to create an entirely new one. Totally optional, but a good thing to know anyway.

Fifth, a rule simply to help manage posting, I must ask that you, if your character is having a one on one conversation with another character, try to limit yourself to posting in response until at least one other person has posted, besides your dancing partner or whoever your character is talking to. This will help the problem of coming back from a day of inactivity to participate in the RP and finding out there’s 5 new pages of context you’ll have to scroll through. Rather irritating, right? So yeah, this rule is in place simply to help the flow of things. You don’t have to always follow it, I just ask you try to. Also, please try not to post 1 line replies and what not, as that’s extremely lame and lazy.

Now, to make sure you guys read through all the rules and are still interested, when you post in response to wanting to participate in this, write: “IggyBarns sucks at making RP’s”. Once you’ve done so, if you want to (I’d highly recommend doing so), I’ll invite you to the RP’s Discord Server. If you don’t have an account, I’d highly encourage getting one, as it will highly improve how you can communicate with your fellow RP participants and partners.

Lastly, don’t forget to have fun. ;)

The building this event is taking place in is a massive, ballroom esque structure, with high, vaulted ceilings and tiled floors. The entrance is a large foyer comprised of marble columns lining both the left and right walls, with a ton of benches and seating areas in between for waiting guests. Every piece of the place is in top quality condition, not a scratch or blemish in the entire building. At least, until tonight. Three sets of double, wooden doors mark the entrance to the main hall. The dance floor inside is huge, around two hundred feet square and made of a slick black plating, ideal for busting some killer dance moves out on.

The dance floor is slightly raised off the ground, around four inches to give it special prominence, as the event is a dance, and is located dead center in the hall. Behind it stands a massive booth meant for the DJ to play songs and whatever else a DJ does.

A large set of metal girders, arranged in a square formation, hang over the dance floor, around forty feet up, with various lights and gadgets to enhance the experience.

While not on the dance floor, visitors can enjoy hundreds of different types of foods on various tables strewn outside the main area to dance. These tables are primarily lined up to the right of the dance floor, and any food you can think of, it’ll be on one of them.

Tucked into the back left corner and guarded by burly bodyguards is a set of premium quality leather couches reserved as an of sanctuary for the RHG attendees. Any Fighters who are not wanting to dance or simply want to relax may dwell in this section, free of pestering from their adoring public.

Other than the previously mentioned places within the building itself, the rest of the hall is primarily open space for visitors and fighters alike to mill around and talk, get autographs, etc.

Lionel Kingsman: The head of security for the night, Lionel was hired simply for his reputation and size. He is of African descent, as such possessing dark skin, and stands at an imposing six foot seven. He’s quite muscular as well, keeping his body in pristine condition for his job as a security worker. He stands guard just inside the foyer’s doors, waiting for any sign of a disturbance to take action. His head is shaven bald, and his uniform consists of black slacks and a tight-fitting black shirt.

DJ Happy: The DJ for the dance. He’s a laid back guy, standing average height with curly red hair partially covered by a blue beanie cap. He wears a loose fitting white tank-top and jeans. He’ll almost always be seen inside the soundbooth, cranking out all sorts of fun songs to play for the dance. He does take requests, though he kindly asks for people to let the previous song finish before he starts another.

Appearance: (See Rules)
Role: (Fan or Fighter)
Clothes: (You can list this in appearance if you like, otherwise just put it here.)

Q: Who will you be participating as Ignus?
A: Simple, my current wRHG Al-Abbas min Filastin. While Riley and Levi may or may not take appear in here at some point, (probably not) Abbas is currently my active character and I want to further his character in any way I can. He will be taking part in the dance too, as he’s an RHG fighter.

Q: Who’s actually running this RP?
A: Me primarily. Though I will say that if the occasion should arise, and if he’s willing, I might pass that responsibility to Chromium7, as he, being a cool guy, has agreed to do so if I need him to. Though for now, I am your overlord dictating what happens in this RP! MWHAHAHA!

Q: How many people are allowed in this RP?
A: As many as I deem okay. An even number would be best, as partners are going to be chosen here soon enough. Though, if an odd number of participants were to occur, I can make adjustments for such an occasion, such as bringing in one other of my characters to fulfill that role.

Abbas isn't imposing, nor is he totally capable of looking welcoming as well, constantly having a bored and slightly irritated look plastered on his face. He stands 6'1", weighs a rather regular 174 pounds, and usually dresses in simple articles, such as shorts and a t-shirt. Tonight however, he has upped his game, tying his normally unkempt black hair into a neat ponytail that falls to his mid-neck. He's freshly shaved and wears a classy black and white suit, with a pair of recently polished, black, shin high boots underneath.

Abbas has toffee colored skin and vibrant, golden eyes. His smile, when he does smile, is dazzlingly white, and his nose has a single, rather subtle white scar running over the bridge, the one blemish on his otherwise handsome face.

Role: Fighter

Partners With: Sarah Cassady (Urako)Eric is a 5'11" (184cm) tall Caucasian. he's wearing his normal clothes, minus his gloves, and replacing his combat boots for a pair of normal black dance shoes. he also has brown cargo pants, a black medium sleeved t-shirt, and his trade-mark tattered, hooded overcoat. (any upper-body clothing can be assumed to have sits for his wings)

As for actual physiology: he has a fairly slim build, and his wings have a span of roughly 6.5m, when fully extended. Seeing as how its a dance, he'll probably just keep them folded on his shoulders the entire time.

Facial features; short, unkept blonde hair, golden eyes, and nothing particularly special apart from that.

Role: Fighter

Partners With: Ana Collete (Oster)Name: Clive
Age: n/a
Height: 6 ft

Appearance: Clive looks like your standard Grim Reaper, with a skeletal body and a sickle weapon. The sickle's handle is made of an ebony-black material similar in appearance to obsidian, and its blade color can only be described as “liquid cosmos”. In terms of clothing, he's wearing a black silken hooded cloak with shiny gold trim and silver lining. The hood hides Clive’s face, shrouding all features aside from his glowing eyes. His left eye is green, and his right eye is blue. If anyone were to pull his hood off (not recommended), his head is actually a night-black flaming sphere hovering above his skeletal chest.

Role: Supposedly a fighter; he mainly joined just because he heard about the event and found it interesting.

Clothes: As stated in appearance; a black hooded cloak with shiny gold trim and silver lining.

Extra Info: Lacking the organs required for speech, Clive communicates using body and sign language. The special thing about this is…even if someone doesn’t know sign language, they will understand Clive when he does it. If he ever leaves his sickle unattended, it hangs in the air as if held by invisible hands.Name:Cynthia Roseann Glass
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Weight: 115 lbs
Height: 5'6

Appearance: A refined and pretty woman, she is a flaxen blond with fine but soft features and eyes the color of Appalachian stream water (amber with tones of faded meadow green). She keeps how long hair loose most of the time, pulling it back into a carefree ponytail when she’s doing sports or painting. Not the most grabbing person in a crowd, perhaps -- more of a subtle beauty. Her taste in clothes is typically a bit more reserved than popular tastes (aka, no shorty-shorts and tight yoga pants), but still up-to-date with styles, and typically a bit playful.

Role: FighterName: Light (Real name unknown), he has however adopted a more modern name, that name being Mr L.
Age: Unknown, but anyone can guess he's way past he's expire date. Doesn't smell of corpse though, so thats a plus
Height: Circa 8 foot (Circa 250 cm)

Appearance: He wears a long dark red robe that covers most of his body, with a long purple scarf like cloth thats hangs from his neck and reaches down to this feet. The robe is made of soft silk, so it gently waves through the air as he moves around, however, the main part of the robe is slightly heavier, so it does not show the body underneath. Most of his face is covered in the same cloth, not tightly, but enough for his undead face underneath to be hidden. His face, and in fact his body too, is nothing a gray dried husk of a humans body. Despite how dead and skinny his body is, he's still wide shouldered, with enough of his muscle left making him still have a bit of a hulking form that is outline with the robe. The only thing that seems remotely alive about his body is his eyes, which have blue flames within the center of the sockets in replacement of eyes. Said fire glows through the scarf, giving the purple scarf a strange darker and bluer color where his face is. He wears sandals beneath his robes, but unfortunately for him, heavy movement makes a lot of skin on his body simply flake off, so dancing will inevitably leave the floor with dead gray skin. Lucky for him however, its not a lot, but its still noticeable.

Role: Fighter

Clothes: Up there

Weight: Dude weighs around 200 kilos, so he has some hella heavy steps. But he is able to be light-foot when he needs to be, with a lot of effort of course.

Partners With: Halle Mackinson (Chromium7)

Name: Ana Collete
Age:18
Height: around 5'4''

Appearance: She has light straw colored hair cut short save for two locks that frame her face, reaching her shoulders, light emerald rebellious eyes and a hundred watt smile. Her most defining feature is her powerful pair of starry feathered wings, mostly a solid, glossy black but are dotted by many spots that appear as pinpricks of white during the day but in low light glow softly like stars on a clear night. She can retract her wings enough to rest against her back when needed but her natural state is with them on full display.

Role: "Fan"

Clothes: Lithe and thin. She loves to wear specially designed button-up blouses, has two slits in her back that allow her to retract her wings if necessary, and dark pants.

Partners With: Eric Kassaran (GenericAnon)Name: Sarah Cassady
Age: 22
Height: 5’6”

Appearance: First off, Cassady is a human. Caucasian skin. She has fairly long braided brown hair that goes down to her shoulder. Her eyes are a dark shade of blue. She has clear white teeth and well taken care of smile. Her form is average for that of her height and weight. Otherwise she is fairly normal apart from a few freckles.

Role: Fan

Clothes: She doesn’t have a lot of money in her job so she’s going to wear a slightly worn hand-me-down light blue dress that stops just below her knees and sleeves that stop just above her elbows. It’s modest by most accounts. She’s wearing black leggings as well along with black high-heels. She also brought along a small black camera.

Other: She works fairly low level in the RHG system editing and watching fights and is an avid fan of many of the gladiators.

Partners With: Al-Abbas min Filastin (IgnusBurns)
Name: Halle Day Mackinson
Age: 28
Species: Human
Race: Caucasian
Sex: Female
Height: 5'7"
Build: Physically fit and lithe. Musculature clearly defined, and lightly pronounced.
Figure: Clearly feminine, though densely muscled. Hip and bust size around average in proportion to sex & build.
Eyes: Yellow-Green
Hair: Chin length, wavy, chestnut brown
Skin: Pretty pale & smooth, with a slew of stray scars.
Tattoo(s): Halle's (entire) face has a bunch of slowly-moving ink blots on it. Think Rorschach from Watchmen. No other tattoos.

Clothing: For the dance, she's wearing a little black dress (like this) and these black boots, with a faded, rivet studded shouldered, black and greyed denim punk rocker jacket thing like this here. This is about as formal as she'll dress to anything ever, and altogether she looks stunning in a "look what the cat dragged in" kinda way. Refer to the image links to clear up confusion.

Role: Fan

Partners With: Light/Mr L (Devi)Name:Blair ‘Sugar’ Valentine
Age: 20
Height: 5'6"
Appearance: Blair is a very smiley person with exorbitant faith in the world. She's suffered with bulimia in the past, but currently feels comfortable in her skin, even if she is a few pounds overweight. She has bronze eyes and enjoys wearing her woven white winter hat, covering her brow all the way back to the back of her neck. Under it, she has a tattoo of cheshire cat's toothy smile and vibrant eyes. She jokes that if she ever decides against it, she'll stop shaving her head
Role: Fan
Clothes: Considering her job, she doesn't have very modest formal clothes. The closest she comes is her little red dress, however, which stops just above her knees and has a large Power Girl-esk window at the chest. She also likes her black high heels and white leggings.

Partners With: Clive (Cassandra)
Name: Loch
Age: Unknown but looks about 22
Gender: Male
Misc: White, 6’1”, 165 lbs

Role: Fan, because why would a reaper not enjoy watching people kill each other.

Appearance: He has long silver hair that goes to his elbows, it covers his ears and he has bangs that swoop down and cover his forehead. If brushed back, you can see skull earrings as well as a chain cartilage scythe earring on his right ear. When he’s doing his job, he wears a skull mask that covers the top half of his face, exposing only his mouth. You can’t see his eyes, but instead the pupils appear yellow as they drift around the empty black eye sockets. He also wears a black robe with a hood (simply for appearances, he can’t put the hood on). Under the robe is black scale armor (combination of chainmail, leather, and metal scales), so very light and flexible, but also durable. His shoes are metal greaves, the toes ending in spikes. His left arm is all bones while he has a fingerless black leather glove on his right, silver studs on the knuckles. When he’s not doing his job, he looks completely human. He doesn’t have the mask on and you can see his eyes which’re sea green. He wears baggy jeans, black basketball shoes, a black t-shirt with a golden skull that’s crying blood under a red hooded jacket. He carries his weapon with him at all time, whether in its concealed mode or not.

Equipment: He carries around a Reaper Axe, Bartholomew, the two headed behemoth that’s ornamented with various eyes on the shaft that stare at you. Another thing that all reapers carry besides their personal weapon, he carries a pocket watch, made of bone. It’s set to the death of his next assignment, their lives end when the clock stops. He enjoys hurrying up the process on occasion. The clock is capable of also showing the date so someone’s death can be days ahead when he gets the assignment.
-Bartholomew- The axe can also turn into a little boy, Bartholomew, or as he says it, Bart-All-La-Mew. The little boy looks to be 5 or 6, only reaching Loch’s upper thigh. He has long brown hair and a swath of bandages around a third of his head. It covers his right eye, part of his hair, cheek, and ear. The other eye has a purple iris. However, everyone sees a different colored human eye. He wears a white hoodie and white pajama bottoms with slippers. Underneath his bandages are the other eyes that decorate the Reaper Axe. The covered part of his head is all covered in eyes. The skin around there is scaly and dusty black, and the ear pointy like an elf. He stays on Loch’s left side and holds his hand, as to prevent Loch from accidently freezing things to expose his identity.

Abilities: Besides being able to conceal what his weapon looks like and the ability to use shadows as doorways, his left hand causes whatever he touches to freeze, even when he’s in his casual disguise. The longer he holds onto something, the worse its effect. He is a reaper, so when he wants to he can make himself invisible to the naked eye, but he can only move around in this state, of course he can jump, talk run, but any action that would physically affect the outside world will cause him to reappear. (ie: Attacking, grabbing something, bumping into things) He is a reaper so he has a presence that when utilized, can render the weak-willed unconscious while simply not effecting the strong. He can collect the souls of the departed and by eating them he regains vitality whether it be stamina or health to heal his wounds. He can instantly summon his work garb when he’s wearing his casual guise and vice versa.

Weakness: Only his left hand can warp through shadows unless he altogether warps himself, but that drains a lot of his energy so it’s an escape if anything. His own shadow is the medium so he has to crouch to shove his hand through unless it’s against a wall then he can use that. You can cut off his left arm being that it’s purely bones while his right has armor. He can still wield his Reaper’s Axe with one hand however. He is immortal, but cutting off his head and limbs, sealing them in different locations will stop him from regenerating for a long time. Burning him to ashes with holy oil is the only way to truly get rid of him. So in other words if you cut off any limb, even his head, but he escapes, next battle he’ll have it back.

Personality: A playful trickster, he likes telling people his name is Loki, but he doesn’t enjoy lying. He says practically everything in a joking matter that it’s hard to tell if he’s serious or not. The mask was supposed to be a full face mask but he snapped off the bottom half so people could see him smile.

Loch forwent his reaper's garb and is wearing a three piece black suit with a red tie with white skulls on it. He still has his piercings and has a fedora on his head. He's wearing special black leather gloves to make sure his left hand doesn't freeze people but it's still quite chilling. Bartholomew is still wearing a hooded outfit but it looks like a penguin because he's adorable and looks like he's wearing a fancy little tuxedo but it just makes him look cuter. The hood is a cartoon penguin head with a beak poking out the front, he has a tail that potrudes from the bottom of his hoodie. His sleeves are long and look like flippers, he can roll them up to reveal his hands. He has cloth orange feet over his shoes.

Through discussion with a brilliant man named Devi, I have discovered an equally brilliant tool for comparing sizes of either people or entities. Click this Link to get to it, (http://www.mrinitialman.com/OddsEnds/Sizes/compsizes.xhtml) you can find the characters' heights listed above in the "Guests" section.

Eric's dragging himself reluctantly to this event. And he's probably just going to stay at the punch bowl. We'll see.

“No.”

“Yes!”

“I’m not going.”

“Yes, you are.”

“No, I’m not.”

“Oh, yes you are. Marcy’s orders. She literally said, ‘and make sure Eric goes to that wRHG dance, he needs to get some air and mix with others a bit.’”

Eric growled, glaring daggers at Katarina. “How many times do I have to tell the both of you,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “that I never go to functions?” There were times were the half-angel felt as though Katarina and Elouise were conspiring to make his life living hell. Scratch that, they were almost definitely trying to make his life a living hell.

It probably wasn’t Marcy’s fault; she probably just wanted he half-angel to go out and meet more people. She thought that was probably the cure for Eric’s crippling inability to talk to strangers. Except it wasn’t. Because it was a chronic condition related to the fact that most other people were idiots with absolutely no sense of right or wrong.

Okay, maybe he was being unfair. He reasoned that at least 60% of the people in the room were people who wanted to do the right thing.

And of those 60%, he could reliably point to 5% doing what was actually right.

Katarina, on the other, was just trying to make him uncomfortable for fun. He hated that.

“Well, you don’t exactly have a choice,” Kat drawled, clapping her hands together with delight. “I have full authority to call Captain Crawley, Thoria, and Chase on your ass if you refuse to move you tooshy to the dance hall.”

“…You aren’t serious.”

“I’m deadly serious,” the prodigy chuckled evilly, “Marcy has determined this to be a mission of priority 4 status, and since we have no dangerous stuff happening…”

“…Fuck you.”

“Love you too Kassy,” she chirped in a sing-song taunt. “Now, would you like to wear your dress cloak, or your normal get-up?”

“…Normal get-up,” he sighed, getting up from the chair.

Eric wasn’t looking forward to this.

Not at all.

In other words, I am in!

Eric is a five foot 11 (184cm) tall caucasian. he's wearing his normal clothes, minus his gloves, and replacing his combat boots for a pair of normal black dance shoes. he also has brown cargo pants, a black medium sleeved t-shirt, and his trade-mark tattered, hooded overcoat. Love you too man.

And just for future reference, here's a short description of Abbas.

Abbas isn't imposing, nor is he totally capable of looking welcoming as well, constantly having a bored and slightly irritated look plastered on his face. He's a little over six feet tall, weighs a rather regular 174 pounds, and usually dresses in simple articles, such as shorts and a t-shirt. Tonight however, he has upped his game, tying his normally unkempt black hair into a neat ponytail that falls to his mid-neck. He's freshly shaved and wears a classy black and white suit now adorns him, with a pair of recently polished, black, shin high boots underneath.

Abbas has toffee colored skin and vibrant, golden eyes. His smile, when he does smile, is dazzlingly white, and his nose is only slightly crooked to the left, the one blemish on his otherwise handsome face.

Also, I've added Alph and Anon to the Guests list. Welcome to the party boys! ;)

My for sure roommate sucks at making RP’s, but I'm still interested. I'll join with either Serif or Sugar, depending on if more fighters or fans are needed to balance the scales

Name: Serif Winters (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?92943-Serif-Winters-The-Hero-of-New-Salem-(On-the-Prowl))
Age: 23
Height: 5'10"
Appearance: Bright blue eyes. Bald. Clean shaven. Galaxy tattoo: primarily black but with orange and blue constellations (which covers the entirety of his body). MMA middleweight build.
Role: Fighter
Clothes: White dress pants and a deep orange dress shirt. Or no shirt. 50/50

-OR-

Name:Blair ‘Sugar’ Valentine

Whoooo....It's actually pretty close to happening. I'll be going as on e of my OC's, I considered using another OC that's a shape shifter but maybe that would be a bit hard for this....so yea.

I suppose I might as well even though I have no idea who I'm going to pair up with at the moment.

Name: Sarah Cassady

I'm unsure about my pairing...just like Urako! Since I have a lot of old unfinished OCs, I decided to pick this guy out of the pile.

Name: Clive
Age: n/a
Height: 6 ft

If he ever leaves his sickle unattended, it hangs in the air as if held by invisible hands.

'Ere we go

Name:Light (Real name unknown), he has however adopted a more modern name, that name being Mr L

Dude weighs around 200 kilos, so he has some hella heavy steps. But he is able to be light-foot when he needs to be, with a lot of effort of course.

Name: Halle Day Mackinson
Age: 28
Species: Human
Race: Caucasian
Sex: Female
Height: 5'7" (( Will grow to 7'6" as roleplay progresses ))
Build: Physically fit and lithe. Musculature clearly defined, and lightly pronounced.
Figure: Clearly feminine, though densely muscled. Hip and bust size around average in proportion to sex & build.
Eyes: Yellow-Green
Hair: Chin length, wavy, chestnut brown
Skin: Pretty pale & smooth, with a slew of stray scars.
Tattoo(s): Halle's (entire) face has a bunch of slowly-moving ink blots on it. Think Rorschach from Watchmen. No other tattoos.
Clothing: For the dance, she's wearing a little black dress (like this (https://www.360nobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/simple-little-black-dress.jpg)) and these black boots (http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/261166721033-0-1/s-l1000.jpg), with a faded, rivet studded shouldered, black and greyed denim punk rocker jacket thing like this here. Oh Cassandra gave me a beautiful idea! I know who I'll bring into this, my own personal grim reaper. Heyya Alph, you wanna be my partner?

GenericAnon

Hey Iggy. Just had some ideas for other NPCs, given the context of the RP. If we aren't allowed to submit them, that's fine.

This investigative journalist, the Vague City correspondent for the New York times, is the de facto head of the foreign press contingents. This hard-ass Irish American brokers no deflection, cares not for red herrings, and is beyond determined to figure out exactly how the lucrative wRHG earns so much money, considering how little it actually discloses. His obsession has lead him to extraordinary lengths to uncover the truth.

If you spot him, he'll be wondering around the floor, wearing a black tux with a white bowtie. He'll probably be asking around for information with his soft Irish lilt, and is deceptively charming, and excellent at getting people to talk without them knowing.

Journalism's more restrained side comes out perfectly with this economics and politics columnist for the British weekly magazine The Economist. Here to write a column about the place the gladiator league has traditionally had in the heart of Vague, she's temporarily teamed up with O'Flynn to tease as much info as she can from the gladiators.

Wearing her own black suit, with a shingle cut and pearl earrings, she has a somewhat tomboyish appearance. This forthright gal will interview anyone she can, but she's refreshingly honest, and annoyingly polite. Just don't insult her or her profession. She'll explode like the tsar bomba.

To round off this journalistic triad is expert low-light photographer Aadheen Barakat, a secular muslim with a knack for getting the perfect shot. Dressed rather shabily, with a beard, glasses, navy suit, and high quality camera, he's here to help get images for the two other journalists. But please don't smile or pose, it ruins the shot.

The one thing that might unnerve you is his prosthetic eye, which can sometimes become unsynchronised with his other eye. It even dilates without his knowledge too sometimes... Which is odd... and somewhat suspicious...

He's apologetic, highly intelligent, but most of all, he's one of those dreamer creative klutz types. Don't expect anything less than a smile.

Hmm...good point. Cynthia works at the local museum, so most likely she'd be asked out by somebody interested in history. She's written papers and done archival work for some of RHG's greatest gladiators, which has earned her modest renown among fans as a source of great info. As for her own deeds, so far Protus has signed her up against her will, but hasn't done any battling. Not yet. It seems he's been waiting for some event to get a group togeth--- wait a second... :P

Also, she's hot/really attractive, single, bi, and young. That is a really important "something" for fans to consider.

Well, Clive is somewhat popular on the streets for his dancing skills; he doesn't really attend public events much (for obvious reasons). Most of his audience members only know him by name (and appearance), and he's memorable enough for them to remember him if they see him again. Other than that, he's not famous, not yet.

Actually, yeah, I'm just going to have it start at noon, seems like an okay time to start. If people can't get into it right away, then that's okay, whoever they're partners with can simply mill about and what not, easy as that.

However, like Devi said, if you want to plan how you and your partner want to meet up, then by all means, be my guest. (Pun not intended)

Also, just for reference when the RP starts, the fans will all be out in the lobby while the fighters will start out inside the main ballroom, the RP itself will start about ten minutes or so before the doors are open for the dance to begin. The fighters/fans will be allowed to speak to each other if they wish while they wait.

I have an important question actually. What time zone are we going by?

Well, I live on the West Coast, so West Coast Standard time I guess. As of right now, it is 12:37 P.M when I make this post...

The date is July 27th, 2017, it is 7:20 P.M and ten minutes away from the start of the RHG organization's first annual Sadie Rockin's Dance. The building's foyer is alive with excitement as fans and reporters from across the world are flooding in to get a chance to dance with their gladiator heroes. As for the fans who actually invited their respective gladiator, they get first entry to ensure they will get to dance with or meet their fighter first.

The five attending gladiators, at least, the ones who decided to come, are currently waiting inside the ballroom along with their fellow fighters as the time for the doors to open fast approaches.

(Alright guys, here we go, for right now the fighters are waiting and so are the fans. You can take this opportunity to speak with your fellow fighters/fans. For the people playing the fans, you are all currently right in front of the doors, and will be allowed in a little bit early, mainly meaning you can just enter the ballroom at this instant if you wish.

Without any fans or any sort of crowd to occupy the massive space within the dance hall, the room was awfully quiet. Abbas sat on the edge of the slightly raised dance floor and looked at his watch. "7:20 huh? Ten minutes to go." He muttered

Looking around at his fellow fighters, only four total, he sighed, "Is this the most people we could get to attend?" He said out loud, to no one in particular. He adjusted his collar and checked his sleeves, making sure they looked alright, and went back to looking at the doors.

Sarah stood outside for a few seconds. Despite being first in line it actually took her a few deep breaths to muster up the courage to meet someone who could very easily bisect her within a matter of seconds. Even if she did like him and even if she did invite him here. It didn't take too long for her to muster up the courage though and she pushed gently through the door within a matter of moments wondering exactly what awaited her.

She looked around at the gladiators that had decided to attend this event. She recognized Abbas almost immediately but she wanted to know who had bothered to show up so far. The group she saw was definitely an interesting enough bunch.

Loch wasn't used to a suit, it was stiff and restricted his arms, how one could fight effectively in this bewildered him. However the ball had a dress code so he was forced to oblige. At least Bartholomew was enjoying the act of dressing up. The reaper had gotten the small boy a new ward robe specifically for the event and the boy had taken the process very seriously. The boy had beaten Loch to the punch and when he was told that the guests whose fighters were here to see them would be allowed to enter early, Bartholomew had dashed ahead and Loch hurried to follow. Inside the ball room Loch looked at the empty expanses and was confused at how he still couldn't find the small child and so began searching.

Meanwhile, relishing his newfound identity as a penguin, Bartholomew was busy waddling around the concession table, trying to find a way to get to the cookies he could smell. Undeterred by the fact that his eyes barely cleared the table top when he was standing on his tippy toes, the boy made way to find Loch to get the cookies for him. He looked around for his older brother, and not finding him, puffed his cheeks in irritation. How could his brother not be here to get him cookies? However he must persevere so the boy decided to find someone else to get him his cookies. Finding the nearest tall person, the small child patted Abbas' leg with a flipper, craning his neck up to look at him while another hand held his hood in place as he called. "Noot noot." He chirped as he pointed over at the cookies.

The Immortal had been sitting quietly when the doors opened, causing him to jerk his head up in surprise. However, a wave of people didn't come flooding in, instead, a long, silver haired man with a small boy, and his own date, Sarah Cassady, entered. He watched as Sarah looked around, spotted him, but made no other moves.

Abbas was about to move over and officially introduce himself, when he felt a light patting on his pant leg, looking down, he found the small boy giving him a pleading look. He wore a black and white hoodie, with a large amount of bandages covering most of his head. He apparently wanted something, as he was pointing towards one of the concessions tables.

Abbas stood and walked over, "What do you need, little one?" He asked.

Sarah looked at Abbas and waited for him to give the child something from the concession stand. She crossed her arms but despite that she tried to remain patient. So to occupy her time, she looked over from him and the other fighters to the concessions. They were in fact filled with delicious looking food and she would have to go back later to grab everything that wasn't nailed down. Her mouth watered a little but she kept it hidden and quickly looked back at Abbas expectantly. She needed to be strong for now.

Loch felt too exposed to yell in such an empty room, worried his voice might echo and people would look at him funny. "Where are you you silly brat?" He muttered under his breath.

Meanwhile Bartholomew attempted, with very poor results, to drag Abbas to the confections. Once there, he just pointed at the sweets and then at his own mouth, his black flipper like one large index finger. He pantamimed Abbas giving him the cookies then himself enjoying said cookies. Nevertheless, it was comical if not adorable to watch the small penguin pretend to stuff his mouth with cookies, inflating his cheeks like a hamster then rubbing his stomach contently as he swallowed. Bartholomew felt proud of himself and felt that he was conveying his message very clearly.

Abbas smiled as he realized what the young boy was trying to say, he picked up one of the many cookies strewn on plates across the table and handed it to the child, tucking it into his small hands, "There you are my young friend, enjoy it while you can..." He stated, beginning to move away. However, as he took a step towards Sarah, he realized the boy might like another sweet sometime soon.

Turning back, Abbas picked two more cookies off their plate and handed them down to Bartholomew, smiling warmly, "Might as well give you some more for the future eh?" He asked. Though, as far as the Immortal could tell, the little, penguin hoodie wearing boy wouldn't speak so, not expecting an answer, made his way over to his dance partner for the evening, who stood with her arms crossed, and introduced himself.

Taking one of her hands, Abbas bowed his head, "Miss Cassady I presume? The way you were looking at me makes me assume you are my dance partner for this evening?"

Sarah Cassady nodded at the man. He had heard so much about the guy and it was hard to believe that they were both actually there. That she was going to talk to and dance with this man. Well it took her a few moments to smile and reply but she finally did when he grabbed her hand.

"Yes. Yes. But please just call me Sarah. I think I'd just rather call you Abbas if that's alright."

Almost at once she wondered if she had made some sort of mistake to make a request so soon. Especially from a stranger that she only knew through looking through footage and news heading and especially from a fighter like himself. She closed her eyes for a breath second and opened them once more to make sure everything was alright. She needed to be more confident. These guys were people just like her. She knew that much. And she didn't normally act this way.

Tonight is supposed to be a way for us to get to know each other. Call me Abbas, or call me Al, and I'll call you Sarah." He stated, looking her over.

He admitted she had a simple beauty about her, with deep blue eyes and braided brown hair. A few freckles graced her otherwise white skin, and her basic light blue dress accented her form quite well. The Immortal noted he might have been looking for too long and brought his gaze back to her face, he decided to compliment her, "You look quite beautiful tonight, if I may say so." He said, smiling again.

Ana landed silently in front of the building used as the venue, sparing a slight glance to the veritable mob of reporters and media men waiting with strained tension to be let into the event. She looked down and straightened her attire, a slightly frilly white button up blouse, a stripe of emerald green leaf-like designs running down her top from the collar over her left breast down to the end, a simple black jeans. As she saw no one of interest at the moment she went ahead and headed for the dance room.

Upon entering she spotted a few people, A tall dark-skinned man sporting a pony-tail talking to a woman with braided brown hair, a third with a fedora seemed to be searching for something. She breathed in and immediately turned her gaze to the food selection, her mouth began to water. Two seconds later she rushed over controlling her speed enough to hopefully not bother anyone, and began to munch on a sweet sugary goodness.

(OOC: I hope Ana's attire is fine, she's not a very formal sort of person, so she's not likely to don a dress, not to mention it's implications when flying.)

Peeking in through the door as it drew back to close on it's own, a small frown crossed along Blair's face. With numbers so few, it almost felt like she was robbing someone else of their dream to be there, when in truth, her presence was just an opportunistic grab at a fun night out. What if her asking the skeleton prevented someone else from going in her stead, with someone that they adored? Her bronze eyes clenched as she let out a long breath. Being one of five was so much different than the one of a hundred she was mentally prepared for, but sucking in an inhale, she shook her head. Being at a party and not having to work it was a welcome change of pace, and she did genuinely want to dance with Clive.

Maybe she wasn't a dream eater then? Besides, there was room for others, so perhaps it was more of gladiator willingness than corporate contest rules that had made the numbers so few. They were dancing because she asked and Clive agreed. There was likely all there was to it.

Finally smiling, she pushed through the doors, instantly noticing the growing crowd at the dessert table. Her throat burned at high school memories, but repressing the thought, her gaze turned to the gladiators scattered in the room, quickly spotting her date and throwing him a genuine wave.

About mid way through her third cookie Ana noticed a small avian friend beside her. The small boy was absolutely adorable in his penguin hoodie, er "tuxedo", Ana had to suppress a near impulsive squeal. She chuckled a small bit before before she got down to look at him face to face. She briefly wondered why such a young and cute child had bandages over his face but dismissed the thought as quickly as it came and smiled.

"Hey there little guy, what are you doing here? Waiting to meet a gladiator too?"

“Do you realise how late you are, man?”

“Shut up Chase,” the half-angel snapped. “I know how fucking late I am.”

“You should’ve been there about an hour before,” another voice chided from afar. “The letter did say—”

“You shut up too Nathan,” Eric hissed. “I know—”

“On a more important note,” a female voice butted in, “who the hell invited you, someone want to snog an angel?”

“Thoria, would you just—”

“That appears to be the most likely outcome,” a robotic voice resounded.

“Oooooooooo,” the entire car resounded, before bursting with uproarious laughter.

Eric slumped onto the dashboard in the front seat, giving out a helpless groan. “I hate all of you,” he helplessly mumbled, his voice muffled slightly by the plastic in front of his face.

There were four people sitting in the car, excluding the Nephilim. Nathan Shepard, the pipboy guy, was sitting in the driver’s seat of a beautiful teched-up Aston-Martin. He’d downloaded it straight from the gadget and proudly opened the scissor doors like a king, throwing back this stupidly precocious smile. Eric had groaned profusely. The last thing he wanted was for the car of James Fucking Bond to drive him to the damn event. He wanted to arrive and leave inconspicuously. But noooooooo. He had to go in a fucking Aston-Martin with scissor doors. God fucking damnit.

There was Chase, chuckling in the back of the car, suit on, rifle resting on his lap, pistols holstered. He was there to ‘supervise’ the entire event from afar. Which, as far as Eric could process, involved looking down his scope at the goddamn event from the top of the neighbouring building. Which would’ve been fine - Eric didn’t trust things to stay quiet either - if he’d just jumped from rooftop to rooftop. Instead, the sniper was sitting in the car, adding occasional commentary on top of Nathan’s incessant criticism, and Thoria’s relentless teasing.

Oh, of course. He almost forgot her. Because of the fact that Fives still hated him, and an event this big required agents to be paired, Thoria was going along as well, as Chase’s spotter, and she just loved to take the mickey out of everyone. And seeing how Eric held himself in such a high and might manner, that meant that he was always the primary target.

Finally, of course, there was degenerator. The AI was sitting in his disembodied state, completely at ease between the assassin and infiltrator. He was going to discretely download himself into the security grid and provide covert monitoring, to ensure that if anything bad went down, rapid response was ensured. This was Eric’s idea; he argued that the presence of so many gladiators in one location presented a target which was just too tempting to pass up on, and required surveillance of a high order. The living computer concurred, and had brought himself along. Eric had thought that would’ve made things just a little more bearable; he actually liked the AI. So far, however…

“Long night already, Eric?” Thoria chuckled, jabbing his wing playfully. “Wow, didn’t realise your stamina was that low.”

He could have responded. Repartee was definitely a possibility… except the half-angel was in no mood for it. It would’ve gotten too personal.

So he just sat there, still groaning.

This night couldn’t end soon enough.

~-~-~-~

Eric had no idea how he’d done it.

Somehow, by some ridiculous tomfuckery, Nathan had managed to avoid traffic, the crowds of press, and get to the secured and private entrance around the back for gladiators.

His appreciation for the man had suddenly gone up 100-fold.

“All skill,” he boasted, turning to the nephilim. “All pure driving skill.”

Thoria snorted. “You cheat. You just reassigned skill points to driving, didn’t you?”

“Maaaaaybe.”

The car stopped, and the front door opened, revealing a man with a clipboard and several security guards. The half-angel stepped out of the car, and the man gave him a quick once-over, checking the guest list.

“Mr Kassaran,” the man said amicably. “Right this way sir, we’ll lead you to the ballroom.” The car had already sped off, leaving him no time to get back in. Not that the thought had struck his mind….

Okay, maybe it had.

The man escorted the half-angel into the ballroom, and Eric was momentarily taken aback by the beauty of the room. He’d never been inside the ballroom in the Vague CBD, only in the Vale. Though the two were incomparable, the CBD ballroom was still gorgeous. And it was well fitted for its current hosting duties. Tables of food, covered by suited waiters, sat there, heavily laden with sweets, canapés, and drinks. A small crowd, consisting of a few gladiators, a few organisers, and some fans, milled about, talking to each other. It was a pretty nice atmosphere, overall-

“Excuse me, Mr Kassaran, but I would like to introduce you to the person who gave you your invite.”

Eric turned back around and looked at the man, trying to keep his frustration at bay. Now it was time to meet the person who dragged him out here. He braced himself for the inevitable; Kat was going to walk into the room, laughing her ass off like a damn hyena, and it would’ve been a massive and slightly stupid prank.

“Sure,” the nephilim shrugged.

The suited man immediately ran off into the crowd.

The boy stuffed the cookies he received in his hoodie pockets and began nibbling on the first of the batch. Loch found his hamster-like younger brother gnawing on a chocolate chip cookie and sighed. "Why didn't I check here sooner? Where did you get those cookies from?" He looked at the two gladiators and bowed. "Oh I guess I have you two to thank for looking after my brother. Thank you. The name's Loch and this little hamster-"

Bartholomew interrupted his brother by chirping angrily, well as angrily as he could. "Noot noot." Then went back to nibbling on the cookie.

"And this little penguin is my little brother, Bartholomew. Did you thank them for those cookies Bartholomew?" The small boy looked up at Abbas and just give him a wide smile, chocolate smudges on his sharp teeth. The boy went back to eating his cookie and Loch patted him on the head. "Good evening, Ms. Collete, please follow me I'll show you to the gladiator you invited," the source being a suited man who seemed o be part of the staff rather than a attendee on wither side.

"Ah, yes thank you lead the way," Ana replied and obediently followed the man until she caught sight of the man she invited. It was pretty important and she silently cursed for not thinking to say it earlier. It didn't matter though because everything was alright right then and she could probably figure out what was going to happen from there. Clive strode in, his sickle strapped to his back. The robe he wore was fancier than he was used to, but then again, he didn't really get lots of party invites anyways. Sweeping his gaze across the individuals in the room, he suddenly felt uncharacteristically shy. Before he could finish, a voice behind him, presumably by the cookies platter, spoke up, "So what are your names?" It asked, Abbas turned to find himself staring at the silver-haired man, now hand in hand with the little boy, looking at the pair of them. The Immortal bowed his head.

"I presume you're this child's guardian? He was wanting some of those sweets so I gave him a few. My name is Al-Abbas min Filastin but please, call me Abbas."

Wait... did this mean he had fans?

Oh god no.

Something else caught his attention; the beautiful raven black wings nestled on her shoulder blades. They were only around half the size of his wings, but they seemed to emit a beautiful jet glow, with silvery blots spilt all over the feathers.

The nephilim gently extended his hand to the girl. "Pleased to meet you too," he replied in a tone even he couldn't decipher. "Sorry," he aprubtly added, "I don't go to many social events often, and I had no idea anyone actually knew me... I've only got two low-level wins on the circuit in any case."

Upon making it to the ladies' room, Halle devoured her remaining cookies and reached into the duffel bag she'd conveniently remembered to bring.

The first thing she pulled out was a box of Camels. Next was a lighter. Placing the lighter in the hand with the box of cigarettes, she used her free hand to pull out a flask of liquor. Upon realizing that she didn't have the fucking patience to open the flask with both hands occupied, she placed the cigarettes and the lighter on the landing of one of the sinks, unscrewed the top of the flask, and looked herself in the mirror. Objectively, she didn't look half bad, but Halle knew a bastard when she saw one. The ink blots on her face moved around at that, to which Halle went for a quick sip of liquor. Just to be a bitch, Halle plucked out a stray cigarette, dipped a millimeter of it in the liquor, and lit it ablaze, lighting up the room before smoldering down to a steady stream of smoke. After a quick drag, Halle screwed the cap back on the flask and let her eyes drift to a close.

Halle fucking Mackinson was about to dance with an 8ft tall grey flaky skeleton corpse man. Before assuming the composure she would require to achieve that, she took a moment to let that sink in. But not too long. She had work to do, and a smoke to fit in between. She took another drag and let the ashy scent wash over her.

There was a reason she'd gone with the Camels. She couldn't have a breath of them without thinking of her mother. She used to reek of them, the woman. Despite her attempts to never let them near the house or the children, growing up Halle always used to catch a whiff of them off her clothes, increasingly so as she'd gotten older. Come to think of it, it was half the reason she'd quit smoking.

Tossing the smoldering butt down the drain and turning the water on high, Halle zeroed in on a memory in the lingering haze -- the museum with mom as a kid. Everything was so tall to her then, the dinosaur skeletons especially, but down even to the statues and recreations. Having practiced this trick once or twice before, she knew precisely which recreation to which she should draw her mind's eye. Gigantopithecus -- bigass orangutan. The marks on her face shifted to the thought -- looking up at the beast from down below. How taller it was in the then than now. When Halle revisited the museum as an adult, it was as if the world had shrunk a bit. Not by a terrible amount, but enough to make a mere Sasquatch of King Kong. That's what she was here to do today -- then an orangutan of bigfoot.

As she went through the mental motions, Halle could feel her body begin to shift. This point was the most crucial -- the first sign of change. The key was to never lose sight of what had changed. Halle was not growing taller. Rather, her world was growing smaller. She mustn't forget that, else the process be disrupted. All around her it shrunk, slowly, surely, until the change simply came, though not painlessly. The next stage was critical. If at any point she were to lose sight of her vision or proportions, there were a number of possible outcomes, many of which she had suffered through already in previous trials. One was organ failure. As the rest of her body grew in relative size, there was of course a risk that her internal structure in particular would shift, or grow at a disproportionate rate. This could not be allowed to occur. Another was polymorphing, or the taking on of undesired characteristics of the animal she was mimicking, such as a sudden outcrop of long orange hair. This was particularly difficult to control when mimicking prehistoric animals, as they were less of a concrete entity, and more of an idea. She would have to watch for, else she revert to who knows what. A final was consistency. Whatever form she wound up with in these next few minutes, it would do her good to perfect and retain it, else minor internal shifts and gradual polymorphing creep their way into her evening.

It was worth mentioning that all of this hurt like absolute hell, and that even with a heavy meal prior to all of this, she looked forward to chowing down on the three grilled steaks, green beans, and mashed potatoes she'd placed in tupperware and stored away in her bag with the cigarettes, flask, lighter, and some bottled water.

Abbas, satisfied with his answer to Loch, turned back to his dance partner and bowed his head, "Sorry for cutting off our conversation Sarah, though I feel it is polite to answer any questions that may be presented to yourself." He apologized, taking her hand in his own two once again.

Raising his head, the Immortal thought it necessary to continue their previous conversation, starting off with something new to talk about, "Now, I must ask, what types of dances are you most comfortable with? I would hate to take you onto the floor during a song you're not comfortable dancing to." He asked, smiling.

"I'm about the same with most types of dances" she replied "It doesn't matter which type you choose." Her words were technically true. She'd never been invited to dances such as this before and while she had some practice before coming here, she was a total amateur in just about any dance he came up with. It wasn't her fault and there was no use explaining why to Abbas at the moment. He'd find out soon enough though. Unknowing she let a frown slip.

Perhaps this was a mistake.

'Locking arms is fine!' Blair smiled, catching her elbow on Clive's, 'I just don't think I could sign if we held hands.' The motions were a little clumsy with the new movement restriction, but she did them decently. Beaming, she turned her attention towards the snack table, just in time to notice Sarah's frown a little ways over.

Abbas noticed Sarah's frown and his smile slightly wavered, but remained. He thought about what she could be thinking, and came upon the idea that she may not view him as another everyday person.

Rather, a gladiator in the RHG, a superhuman, high and mighty in their ways and not suited to appearing in public. The Immortal tilted his head, "Just so you know Sarah, you invited me to this, I didn't have to come, but I did, because, after realizing I had at least one fan who wanted to meet me, I chose to come and fulfill that fans' wishes. You're that fan Sarah, and I'm your date tonight, so treat me like one, treat me like a friend." He stated, smiling wider than before.

Sarah actually laughed at this. She had been thinking been thinking that but that wasn't the biggest concern on her mind. Not at the moment at least. "Thank's Abbas. I really appreciate it, but that wasn't what I was worried about. I mean yes you guys are gladiators and many of you are para-humans. Special individuals who really have no reason other than kindness to be interested in ordinary people like me. And while I was afraid of that when I came through here, i'm worried now that I don't have much dancing experience. It doesn't matter what dance you choose, I doubt i'll be able to make you happy."

That was the truth and the true meaning of what she said earlier. To e honest though a little of her first fear spilled over to her last concern in the last sentence and she felt a little nervous about what she had just said. Make him happy? "I'm sorry. I meant to say I doubt i'll do very well. I still want to try though."

"Why ma'am, I didn't come to this event to dance with a professional. I came to enjoy myself and have fun, as have you. So please, don't degrade yourself, I think you'll dance just fine with me."

"Hi! I hope we aren't interrupting anything, we just wanted to introduce ourselves before the music started. I'm Blair, and this is Clive." Her eyes lingered on the fan a moment longer than the fighter, a gentle concern in her smile. It seemed like she was having the same doubts she had.

Abbas turned towards Blair and Clive, looking over the otherwise pretty young woman and the slightly intimidating reaper. Clive's scythe blade shimmered on his back, and Blair herself was smiling, but not a sincere one. The Immortal couldn't quite place what feeling was associated with her grin, so he let it drop.

"Nice to meet you two, I'm Al-Abbas min Filastin but please, call me Abbas." He took Blair's free hand in his own and bowed his head, then stood up straight and bowed low to Clive.

Sarah barely had time to respond to Abbas before the two came over to greet them. She smiled when she did though.

"I said I wanted to give it a try didn't I?"

But when they came, Sarah more or less stopped and stepped back a little behind Abbas. Only barely and hardly noticeable to anybody, in fact she didn't even know that she even did so herself. Yet she did. Mostly at the sight of Clive. And really, she felt that almost anybody would be afraid at the sight of what looked like the Grimm Reaper. She didn't mean to be rude though and eventually forced herself to introduce herself to both of them even if her heart was pounding in her chest from the scare.

"I'm Sarah Cassady and it's a pleasure to meet you both."

She said and meant those words really. It was an exciting opportunity even if she got surprised for a moment. She supposed she really was just as excitable as your standard civilian even if she was supposed to be used to this by now.

Loch looked up when he heard the name Clive, a bit too preoccupied with the act of getting chocolate off Bartholomew's face. "Oh well I'll be damned. Clive, it's nice to see you, didn't expect to see you until the next quarterly." The young man got up and shook the skeleton's hand. "But must say, the centuries since last we met have taken to you kindly." He looked down. "Bartholomew, say hi to Clive, you remember him right?"

The small penguin looked up and waved at Clive, his flipper holding tightly onto a half-eaten cookie. "Noot noot." He chirped before attacking his cookie once again.

"Oh where are my manners." He addressed Blair, "My name is Loch and this is my little brother Bartholomew." He patted the boy but it didn't phase the little one as he kept on eating.

"The centuries ... Bartholomew, you remember him..."

His words were echoing in Blair's head on loop until she was addressed, ripping her out of her trance. Blinking a few times, she took a brief moment to adjust before smiling to the pair, expression quickly shifting to a grin. "Would I be wrong to assume your little brother is older than my grandfather?" Shaking Loch's hand, she added, "I'm Blair, by the way. Going a little faster than she really should've, Ana grabbed a plate swiftly filled it up and grabbed a tall glass of water, and returned to Eric's side.

"Hmm...how about we take a seat....there," she said after a bit of surveying then began to make her way to said table on the east side, at a much more reasonable speed this time.

Eric had dashed over to another small table, and grabbed one of the champagne flutes (confirming first that it was, of course, Lirnavov; he wasn't stooping so low as to actually drink), before grabbing a plate and piling it with a pile of snacks. The attendant raised a skeptical eyebrow.

"I've got wings. My metabolism probably outruns the entire room."

He shrugged and turned around, pacing quickly after the restless girl who had already taken off. "Fine by me," he affirmed.

The two slipped across the dance floor, ducking around a few attendants and patrons. Eric took a fragile moment to examine the scattered people. He counted several fans and gladiators toddling around for various reasons. One was a man who stood out with brown skin, raven hair tied to one side in a ponytail. Two people scooted past with black hoods; one with a cloak, the other in a hooded suit. A female model flittered in and out of view, blazing out of the wider ruckus. Three other girls scattered around the room, standing by their seeming partners, all mostly devoid of content. And there were other persons of interest as well, some of which were talking to each other, hands in suited pockets. The atmosphere wasn't dull or flat... but it was surprisingly void of any real joy.

Maybe when the doors opened things would get brighter.

Ana and the nephilim reached the table, and Eric dashed around and pulled one of the chairs out. "After you," he proffered. 'I may be antisocial, but I'm not an asshole either,' he thought to himself, satisfyingly.

Soon she had nearly began stuffing her mouth with the sweets on her plate though she managed to reign in herself before she managed to appear like a complete slob. "man, this stuff's great, not as good as Claire's cooking but still close enough," she said between the bites of her food and the more than occasional, somewhat envious, glance at her partner's angelic white wings.

"Sorry," the nephilim quickly corrected. "Personal stuff. Shouldn't have asked." He looked around embarrassed, scratching his head. He needed to change the subject. Something that wasn't superficial, preferably.

"So... what's with the colour of your wings?"

Sigh. Goddamnit Eric.

"Oh, well, how do I say this, I'm not entirely sure what those whitecoats did to get my pair to look like this, I've heard of some species with one or two characteristics but never all at once like mine," she shrugged, she never really gave her odd feather coloration much though, it looked nice sure but she got used to it fairly quickly, "they look nice but I'm more envious of your natural wings."

The girl gave an uncertain nod.

"Holy... I'm sorry. That couldn't have been a fun experience for you." Ana opened her mouth, and Eric immediately knew what was about to happen. "Yes, my wings are natural. No, I do not have a secret whitening formula for feathers. Be grateful for the pattern you've got. Its perhaps one of the most beautiful biological imprints I've ever seen."

Having been introduced, Clive waved at the pair, noting how intimidated they seemed at his appearance.

*I'm terribly sorry if I'm scaring you two,* he signed. *I often have that effect on people.*

He stuck a thumb behind his back, indicating his scythe, before continuing.

*And normally I don't bring Katrina, but she insisted that she wanted to come anyways. Still! I'm hoping this experience will be a good one for all of us.*

The scythe blade warped and twisted, melding its starry material with its handle. After a few short moments, the blade had become a snake. The serpent rubbed its head on the side of Clive's hood, and then disappeared down the front of his neck. Clive then looked up at the sight of Loch, and gave him a friendly wave before coming forward to shake hands.

*It's nice to see you too, Loch!* he signed, and then he dropped down on one knee to pat Bartholomew's head. He then straightened up again and said, *If we're really talking about time and age, this little penguin here may be outperforming both of us, don't you think?*

As Clive interacted, he began to feel a little more like himself. There was a tingling feeling in his bones that he knew well. He wanted to dance, and wondered how long it was going to take before he could.

Sarah tried to sign back. She wasn't very good at it though and she was pretty sure that some words were lost in translation. She'd likely be able to tell by his reaction just how badly she did but she was certain she didn't say or do anything offensive and she was sure she had at least some certain degree of accuracy. Turning to Abbas and Sarah, he realized what they were doing and bowed his head; shoulders jiggling with silent laughter.

*Uh...well...it's okay if you two just talk...* Clive signed, recovered; his own hands nearly fumbling with the motions for a moment. *I understand sign well enough, but I know just about any language in the universe too.*

The reaper paused a moment and scratched at the back of his hood. *But if you want to sign, go ahead. Do whatever you're most comfortable with.*

*Pardon me Clive, but does your job as a reaper mean you have a boss? If so, I think I've met them.*

At the sight of that, Clive folded his arms and cocked his head to the side. He remained in this position for a minute or two and then nodded, signing again. *Oh...I remember you. You're the one that War gave a new body about 5000 years ago...correct?*

He bowed his head, but his shoulders were jiggling again, almost to the point of being unable to sign. Eventually, he made eye contact. *Ah...now it's all coming back.* he managed. *Rico wanted to make you a duck.*

He sighed silently, and then posed in a 'stern-hands-on-your-hips' fashion before continuing. *I managed to convince them to grant your wish. It wasn't easy, but...hey...at the end of the day, we're all happier when the humans believe in us more. Especially after helping humans out with problems like yours. Makes us feel useful.*

Clive paused again, reflective for a moment. *Besides, it's nice doing something other than watching the human race kill itself off. In spite of my appearance, I don't particularly enjoy killing as much as just meeting a challenge...if you get my meaning. Well, War doesn't mind people fighting; he's used to it. (OOC: This post is an internal monologue; No reaction/action needed)

Even as Eric listened to Ana and tried to make small talk, his mind drew itself into the back and forth conversation going on between the dark-skinned man and the two strange hooded individuals. Magic energies had buffeted him as he passed, easily noticeable. The insignia of war and of death. Powerful waves of celestial energy radiated from their bodies, emitting a potent magic stench that the nephilim was acutely aware of.

He'd listened in on their strange conversation. The two black-hooded people, both bearing energies of death, seemed to be speaking backwards and forwards, acting like old friends. He snorted. Reaper agents. They had some strange affinity for each other that no other servants seemed to have.

The four horsemen of the apocalypse, to be honest, were a ridiculously strange bunch. The first of them had been twin nephilim, the first, and possibly only 'pure' nephilim in existence. They were recruited shortly after the collapse of the Tower of babel, and had been responsible for overseeing the deaths of those souls caused by conflict, and natural causes, respectively. From what he knew, war was, though noble, cranky and short-tempered, whilst death was, and he quoted, "A bureaucratic old fart." The others, fury and strife, had been recruited later. Fury was a Saracen, and had been recuited after the battle of Mt Hattin, and Strife had been added to the roster at age 18, during the year 1883. The latter had been the only one Eric had met in person. She was fiesty, fiercely independent, and foot-in-mouth honest, and had given him the information when he'd asked probably to spite the others.

He chuckled again. From what he could tell, the three were just agents. They were people anointed by the horseman as their champions, given incomprehensible powers, and then sent off to assist in their creator's duties. They were heralds, warriors, and assistants. From their body language, they all looked to be fairly ancient as well. which was surprising. After all, this system mainly kicked off in WWII and WWI, when so many people died, the horsemen basically had to steal souls, stop them from going to hell, and repurpose them as assistants, they were so rushed.

He snorted. The one to the side, with the penguin, looked beyond strange and stupid. Was he a recent servant? Or perhaps an older one who was just a little senile?

Okay, Eric, he mentally chastised. Time to stop. If you don't, you'll just drive yourself crazy the entire night.

"Your info must be from the wrong source, or you must have been hearing about a different Immortal."

Clive mirrored Abbas's shrug, and rocked on his heels. *That could be true. There are plenty of individuals in the universe who hope for immortality; humans are just the species who hunger after it the most. Either that, or someone's lying to me.*

"Honestly though, I can't be the only Immortal in the world can I?"

The reaper stopped rocking and nodded. *Yeah, there are quite a few others. I'd name them, but there's a code of confidentiality around that stuff for my family.*

Clive was silent for a bit, and then cocked his head. *Oh, you've reminded me of something I used to ask immortals. 'What's it like, living forever?'. I know it can be hard for some humans to answer the question; there are many who outlive their loved ones and friends, live life to the fullest, get bored, and then try to find other things to do...*

He sighed silently. *The most common thing I've heard is the loneliness. Few immortals befriend other immortals; especially those who wind up with a solid superiority complex. The younger ones usually challenge each other to fights. Immortality though...just means you don't age, of course; it doesn't make you invincible.*

Abbas nodded thoughtfully, scratching his chin, "I did outlive my family and others, though not in the traditional sense of age." He drew a line over his throat and continued, "My tribe lived in a place that wasn't exactly mutually peaceful. When I was gone, one of the strongest tribes around came in and decimated the place, killing everyone and taking the women and children as slaves."

He held two fingers to his forehead, "I don't regret my choice, I conscientiously made that decision, and happy with it. My tribe was destined for destruction anyway."

Thinking over the last question, Abbas answered quietly, "Well, loneliness had taken a hold of me earlier this century, but due to recently meeting some..." He coughed, "new comrades, this isn't a problem for me anymore."

Ana's cheeks flushed a bit on reflex, "T-thanks, though it's a bit too bad you don't have a formula like that or something."

She moved her gaze to the ceiling, "The place I was born wasn't so bad, nobody treated me like trash, though I don't have any fond memories either, actually not many memories really, side from the training they gave me. Man that stuff sucked."

"The training?" his mouth moved up somewhat. "Did they try to make you into some kind of super-soldier or something? Sounds like a pretty terrible time. Actually, that is a good question; why did the researchers make you an avian? Most dark shady groups want some kind of stealthy backroom assassin operative. And, well, let me just get this straight, avians and angels are not exactly cut out for stealth and guile.

"And I don't know about you man, but I'm not that young either. We're not only immortal, we're practically unkillable as well after all. However I guess compared to most humans we get to live our lives with a purpose. Sure you meet some comrades, but then they'll die and then you'll have to meet new ones and the vicious cycle will repeat itself." Loch shrugged. "I've met my fair share of immortals that have asked me to "help" them after a few centuries. The look in their eyes, they looked more like dolls than people." He chuckled.

Eric gave a small grimace. "Ehhhhhh... It was a money-related thing really. I bunker down with an old friend of mine, rent free, and got tired of feeling bad about cheating her out of rightful earnings. I took up the position to be able to get my own income, and to repay her... but surprise, she didn't accept the money."

He gave a sigh, massaging his temples. "She can be a little stubborn sometimes. But I digress. I'm don't really have any intention of becoming a 'big name' on the gladiatorial scene. I'm quite happy to splash around in the lower leagues for some money instead. Besides, I don't think there's any chance of me breaking into the top tiers yet. I've only won two of my fights."

"I can't read people that much, but it's a pretty obvious sign from the way your always smiling when you think about them."

A settled feeling rested deep in Eric's stomach. Ana had put him completely at ease.

Nervous energies instantly roared into his mind and body. Instinct never allowed him to be at ease. A million dangerous thoughts assailed him, calling him out of his calm trance. The energy radiating from the glyph on her wrist kept on radiating outwards, excess overflow striking him in waves.

Familiarity seeped through his bones. A distantly memorable signature of energy suddenly hit him. Mere traces of magic, bonded to the glyph by accident. Magic capture. An incidental event caused by powerful magical energies leaving traces on objects, charms, and spells. The signature of the energy made him uneasy. It seemed so familiar... yet so distant...

Words flooded his mind, and images flashed before his brain, disordered and jumbled.
“Try harder? Okay, how’s this, you overconfident asshole!”
“Yes, yes, I yield, yield! Just please, please, make the pain stop! Too much pain! Too much pain!”
“Looks like you aren’t so tough after all, angel-ass.”
“Why am I so pale? How long have I been out? Why…"
“I’m sorry. I’m so, so, so, sorry.”

Rage and nausea swamped his mind, and he fought tooth and nail, letting no emotion show on his face. He recognised the energy; the traces of mariomancy. Erik Eolas. She knew Erik Eolas.

Did that mean he'd helped get her out? What was her role or job? Why did she trust a murderer?

Matters had gotten far more complicated.

Those in the medical profession would have referred to Halle in this moment as something to the effect of 'verging on vasovagal syncope.' They would note a paleness of the skin, low blood pressure and heart rate, and through talking with Halle, quickly discern that her vision was clouding and that she should lay down before she passed out from a lack of proper nutrients. Halle would have responded with something along the lines of 'no fucking shit,' delayed in its construction, likely relegated to a certain one-fingered gesture. She'd been here before and she knew what to do. Clutching her duffel bag and sitting down against a bathroom stall at the first sign of spots, the first thing on her mind was fluids. Water, bottled water, surely she'd remembered the bottled water.

She had, of course. Along with food and a change of clothes. Steak, green beans, and potatoes, she recollected -- and a dress.

Water! Had she forgotten the water? She panicked for a moment, her body seizing at the thought. She hadn't forgotten the water, where was it? In the duffel bag. Bottled. All she had to do was unscrew the caps and start drinking. But not from the flask. Anything but the flask. Why the fuck did she bring a flask, did she really need a fucking flask?!

Halle's fingers felt for a water bottle, soon finding one. Her eyes confirmed this with time.

Fluids slowly made their way into Halle's system. Food was next to come, starting with the wrapped steaks. She liked steaks. She had good memories with steaks. Had she really gone through all this trouble for some flaky greyskinned boy? That was so her. Leave it to Halle fucking Mackinson to work up a cold sweat eating mashed potatoes on the floor of a public goddamn bathroom. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Halle planned for stupid. Halle planned for dripping crumbs of overdone salisbury steak bits and green beans tasting like a rat's assfuckth intestine. When she got herself up off-- why, she'd tear that ghost motherfucker a...

Clothes. What was she wearing? Did they still fit her? Was that leg hair? Oh fuck no, that was not what it was that she thought that was, in fact, and something needed to be done. Halle was glad she'd gone into the transformation braless, but her tits were poking through her sleeves at this stage, and by golly that just wouldn't do.

If there were any way to carry a portable shower, Halle was positive she would've brought one. That in mind, she inched her way into one of the stalls and shut the door behind her, putting her skills to work.

She ran a hand through her hair. Jack fuck that sure did, trying to style without a mirror. She'd brought a mirror. Fuck the mirror. Stupid bitch. Get out of your pants. Quickly exiting her trousers, Halle was rendered unsettled by the sight. No matter -- a quick fix.

Shirt. Removed. Right. Naked.
Dress. Halle had a dress. Halle stepped into her dress.

Thankfucquaggly it fit -- better than her old clothes, anyhow, as Halle had grown significantly since donning them. Quantifiable measurements should be acquired at some point.

Halle had to piss.
Halle took a piss.

Sated, she stepped into her boots and put on her jacket. Slowly, she stood and opened the door to the stall. She looked in the mirror by the sink. She straightened her hair.

Was makeup even necessary at this point?
She shrugged.

Halle walked out of the bathroom.

((OOC: I think it's about time I get this thing under way. Aquila, I realize Alph most likely won't be ready to dance for a while, so Loch and Bartholomew can dance for now alright? Unless someone else would like to.))

With a shout from inside his booth, Happy, the DJ, raised and waved a hand for the fighters and fans to see. "Hey guys! I'm going to start with some jazz for now, but soon enough after that song has finished I'll be taking requests from you folks!" He proclaimed, a gleeful smile on his face.

As soon as he was done, some upbeat saxophone blared over the speakers, filling the ballroom with said tunes. Lionel, the head of security for the night, called from by the doors, "Fighters and Fans, the doors are going to open in two minutes!" He held two fingers to emphasize, "If you want to dance with your partner, I'd suggest you get on the floor now!" He bellowed.

"Well enough of that, I have to go find my dance partner. So if you'll excuse me, though I'm sure we'll see each other again." He bowed and parted ways, Bartholomew hopping behind, holding tightly onto Loch's left hand as the reaper walked around the empty ball looking for Sarah. But, that couldn't be right, the girl who went in was much shorter, no taller than five and a half feet. But this being was over seven feet tall easily, how could that be?

Abbas paused his dance and looked down at Sarah, an apology written over his face, "Pardon me, Miss Cassady, but would you excuse me for a moment?" He asked. Not waiting for an answer, rude of him he knew, the Immortal made his way off the floor and waved to the massive young woman.

A loud dark voice came from the far side of the room, everyone heard it very clearly, regardless of hearing capability.

"I'm here."

From a wall, what most thought was just a bundle of curtains, came marching a giant. He shifted his weight left and right of his body, making the robes on his body gently bounce with each of his massive steps He stood 2 feet taller than most, if not all people who were there, wading through forward through the hall like a person through water that's up to his chest, his heavy steps making his size all the more intimidating. The few staff members that were there were too slow to move out of his way he moved gently out of the way, much like a father would move his child. Through the top of his head a blue light was emanating, it wasn't very strong, but it was very much noticeable. It illuminated the giants face slightly, revealing the husk of a man's head to those around. As he journeyed from one side of the room to the other, he could see the shock and fear within the people he passed by. He expected no less, even he was afraid of giants, their size dwarfing anyone smaller was very intimidating. As he approached about 3/4ths of the way, a short girl stood in his path. Light had seen what had happened, and as he was about to pass by, he put his hand on her back and whispered gently, in the softest voice he could. "I saw what happened, come with me and I will speak to your partner." His hand gently glided Sarah forward towards Halle and Abbas. He approached Halle, the other (slightly smaller) giant in the room. As he got near, he halted his movement, his loose robe moving forward in front of him and gently falling down to the ground. Silence came, but it was very brief, for Light had no interest in dramatization. He was here to connect.

"I appreciate your arrival, Mrs Halle." Light spoke as curtsy as he good with his raspy dark voice, and although it wasn't good, you could tell he was at least trying. As he spoke, he moved his right arm in front of his body, having it across his chest, and bowed forward to a 60 degree angle. Some of the scarf on his head even reached down and touched the ground as he bowed. He spoke again as he came back to his normal standing. "I thank you for coming for this dance."

Then turning his head towards the other fans and fighters, he bowed once more. This time, putting both his hands through the opposite sleeve as he bowed, holding his arms out. "I must humbly greet you all, my name is Light, but you all may call me Mr L. Its a pleasure to make all of your acquaintances."

The question caught him off guard. Instinctively, he readied himself for a no answer....

His mind shut the idea down. A thought had struck him. Maybe not genius. Maybe not perfect. But it was an idea. A plan. Something he needed to execute, otherwise he might drive himself mad throughout the evening.

It was an impressive sight sure but she had failed to be amused in the slightest at what was going to on. She needed some sort of explanation to all of this and maybe. "Mrs Sarah, I humbly apologize on my partners behalf that we caused such trouble between you and the gentleman here. Please accept my dearest apology" Light spoke calmly, like a father talking to a child, but had no feeling of being patronizing and more strangely warm than one would expect from an undead giant. As Abbas spoke however, his blue fire eyes fixed themselves upon him in a very serious manor. However, it was strangely not threatening, it felt more like just any normal person paying attention to another. This feeling Light had, what was it? It didn't feel warm, but there was something he just felt in his still beating heart. As if something was clasping on it, trying to crush it without there being any pain. Whatever it was, Light made a conscious choice to ignore it.

Mr L gave no reply to Abbas, instead, one of his blue fires extinguished themselves and then ignited again along with him bowing his head. One can only assume it was a wink he gave. Straightening himself again, he looks towards Halle. He extends an arm, and opens his hand but keeps the robe onto the hand, as not to scare or make her uncomfortable as his dry dead hands were incredibly cold. "I presume you must be Halle, its a pleasure to meet a young woman such as yourself. As you know, my name is Mr L, or you at least remember me as Light. "It's all fine" Sarah relented before glancing over at her dance partner and back at light. "I just wish someone would have said something instead of just ditching me was all." She sounded a bit cold when she said that but she made it clear that she understood the circumstances. If somebody looked like they weren't feeling well or if there was an emergency then they had to help the person in need. Still, Abbas didn't seem to be in such a hurry when he walked away so he could have said something.

She sighed. It was just something she needed to look past if she was going to continue and enjoy the night. At the very least she found out she wasn't just being ditched for no reason in front of everybody else. That would not have been a pleasant experience to go through that again.

Ana responded with another of her trademark smiles, "Oh please, you can't be anymore uncoordinated than some other people I've danced with throughout my trips."

The winged messenger looked around as she and her partner approached the dance floor. Seems some trouble was brewing, or at least that's what it sounded like from her superior hearing. She nearly tripped when a literal mountain of a man seemed to materialize out of nowhere form within some freakin' window curtains, not only that now that she got a better look the huge man's trajectory was heading towards another tall attendee...wait she wasn't that tall before. Ana would have doubted her memory except for the fact it was Eidetic, What in the hell happened to her? but if the taller newcomer was her partner it kind of made sense...oh, well like she was anyone to have a say in the matter.

The winged duo managed to make it without any trouble, though Ana did feel quite bad for the brunette that was left on her lonesome. Ana carefully maneuvered to a spot that would throw the least attention on the poor girl, Ana remembered the girl being called Sarah during the girl's earlier conversations, when the winged pair began to dance, and if what Eric said was right the pair would become the center of attention...if the scene by the two giants would resolve itself peacefully.

"Okay then, I'll take the lead," Ana promptly began after curling her wings in. She liked to think she was quite proficient at dancing, not a professional by any means but at least capable of not embarrassing herself, or those she was dancing with. It seemed like those lessons Min gave her on the art would produce fruit again. The Starry-winged girl began slow letting herself get a feel of how her partner moved, and hopefully vice versa.

The slow pace continued for a few, drawn out moments, as the music kept going at a slow jazzy pace, waiting for the chance to take off. The slow waltz music continued with some slow drums, symbols clashing, snares pounding, mixed with dulcet tones of saxophones and trumpets quietly humming in the foreground. Slow tempo was matched by slow steps. The winged individuals locked themselves in dancing hold, wings folded, keeping a courteous distance from each other.

Eric mirrored her partner's movements, watching the drama unfold, and scanning the dance-floor from side to side. Abbas, Halle, Clive, Loch, Blair, all these other characters blended into the background, and for a second, the half-angel was drawn inexplicably to the pale skinned 'Mr L.' For two reasons. First, his entire body radiated with electromagnetic energy. Infrared and Radio waves melded together with long-wavelength ultraviolet, tracing patterns across his skin only he could feel.

And second? This 'Mr L...' he was dead.

Necromantic energies wafted off his body, radiating a magical stench of death and creeping decay. He could almost feel the rot, the pain, and the slow descent back into a lifeless shell, only fit for fertiliser. It was a miracle he was intact; the spell felt old by normal standards. What had brought him back? Why was he dead in the first place? Was this another wielder of the sacrosanct?

But first, he had to figure out what to do with Ana. Priority number one.

Eric smirked. He might've been telling a teensy bit of a white lie when he'd said he was a bad dancer. He definitely wasn't good, not by anyones standards. When he solo danced, he looked even stupider than when he tried to initiate small talk. Partner-dancing however...

The music began to slow to a complete stop, signalling a small, momentary pause. Ana gave a surprised squawk as the nephilim drew her in to a tight dance hold. Before she could respond further, Eric whispered, "I think I'll take the lead back now."

With a drumroll, a brass fanfare opened up its musical broadside, unleashing a harmonious stream of fast-paced quavers and semiquavers. He quickly sped the unsuspecting avian across the room, spinning them around, turning her out and in, whirling her like the eponymous dervishes of old. A small crowd drew itself around the pair as he continued the dance, executing complex maneuver after complex maneuver. Eric focused only too things. Improvisation, and the jazz. Swinging couplets bounced across the room, dancing through his body, making his limbs move with musical fire. The notes flowed into him, translating into an internal beat. One-two-three-four, One-two-three-four...

His old musical memories came flooding back, and Eric relaxed to a level just above completely content. He wasn't forgetting his plan... but he might as well enjoy the execution.

Loch and Bartholomew waddled around as they danced lazily in a circle, Loch taking the opportunity to look around. This event had attracted quite the interesting ensemble of people. Another grim reaper, what from the outburst he overheard, a shapeshifter, an avian, an angel to his slight distaste, and two immortals; one seeming more cursed than gifted their situation. He never did like angels, having to deal with their holier-than-thou attitude when soul exchanges happened was never the best experience. Also due to his... more unsanctioned activities, his relations with some angels were rocky, to put it the best way. He didn't recognize this one though so he doubt the two would have much trouble. However in his pondering, he hadn't realized his feet had gotten lighter and he was holding onto nothing. He was only snapped out of it when he heard the small squeak of his little brother.

Bartholomew had caught on a particular scent, it was a scent he had grown accustom to as was his duty and grown to be quite fond of. Death was both his job and his meal ticket so the scent of a dying man was as hard to resist as cookies. The little boy had snuck away and bounced over to Light, tugging on the man's robes to get his attention. The man didn't seemed to be dying, and the smell was quite odd as it felt mixed with a different scent. It smelled old like the cookie-man, but this one had a particular stench to it, as if it wasn't sealed properly. Bartholomew wiped some drool creeping down his lips and tugged on the man's robes again as he craned his neck up to see, his hood falling off his head as his eye pierced through the shadows of the man's and the boy squeaked. "Pretty eyes."

Ana had to give Eric credit for two things, first would be his rather convincing lie about his dancing skills, though that was half Ana's fault for taking the statement at face value. In her defense, she never thought of someone lying about their dancing ability...it seemed a trivial thing to do. The second thing was the half-angel's actual dancing ability, while at least in-part improv, he knew his way around the dance floor.

Her heart was pounding like a drum in her ears, half from the increasing pace her partner was moving at and the other from the abrupt closeness the two were at. Ana was pretty sure her face was as flushed as an apple right now. Eric twirled her around again, all Ana could let out another squeak as her brain was too flustered to do more than keep up with her suddenly invigorated dance partner. Despite this she ignored the burning in her cheeks, or the increasing depth of her breaths, instead she let herself flow with the music, with her partner.

Ana opened her eyes the moment Eric drew back in from the twirl, her smile radiating and her eyes filled with fire. She picked up her pace though making sure the nephilim kept the lead. Somewhere deep inside her tensed, with every step the feeling grew and grew, anticipation massing larger and larger. Her wings began to twitch, a small, free giggle escaped her lips. She could feel it, the musical climax was nearing.

Eric drew her close and at that moment she whispered, "On three...one...two..."

She'd anticipated his intentions perfectly. Excellent. Tension bound itself to his muscles, mixing with a slight tinge of light energy. He mentally counted down, following her words. One... two...

"THREE!"

The music reached its peak, sparking a massive brass fanfare, and Eric flung the girl skyward, launching her through the air. She altered her wing dynamic, spinning like a top, and then turning backwards, bringing herself to land. The half-angel leant out, grabbing the avian girl behind her shoulders, caving his wings around hers, catching her and letting her fall backwards. Her outer leg shot up, and he caught it expertly. They held that position for a few seconds, giving each other a mutual grin.

The music quickly started back up again, fading in volume from a loud and boisterous affair back to a few drum riffs, a bouncing piano, and some solos. Eric pulled Ana back out of her position with a spin, retracting into a tight hold, and continuing with the jazz waltz. She recovered quickly, clearly not expecting there to be another round of dancing

The surrounding crowds emitted awestruck applause. A few had started partnering up, trying to copy the half-angel's elaborate motions and Ana's expert tracking.

Before Halle could give an answer to Light's statement, Light felt a tug on his robe. Quickly turning his head down to see what it was, he spotted a peculiar sight. A child drooling on his robe. "And how may I assist you? What is your name, little boy? Are you looking for your parents" Surprisingly calm, despite being slightly weirded out by the child's actions and also the child's appearance. It was a strange round shaped appearance with weird combinations of colors. What it was, Light could never guess

However, as he spoke, the dance between the two winged dancers had taken off (pun intended), showing of their skills in a skillful and impressive dance. As they both finished, Light was among the first to join in on the applause, his loud but muffle claps sounding quite loudly through the room.

Bartholomew began by pointing at himself. "I Bart-All-La-Mew." He smiled proudly at being able to say his own name, his sharp teeth sparkling. At the mention of his parents he pointed over at Loch who was busy looking for the young boy again. The small boy looked back up at Light and stated, "So who you?" However the boy's comment was lost by the sound of applause and he looked around confused at what everyone was making so much noise for and so began clapping along with others. He flapped and giggled as he simply followed along. As the clapping died down and the boy simply looked back at the man, waiting for the man to answer the question.

Light kneeled down, his hulking frame shadowing over the smaller child, the scarf on his face accidentally touching Bart's face, gently touching his cheek. Yet, despite looking intimidating, he spoke with a clear and friendly voice. "My name? Well you can call me Mr L. Its a pleasure to meet you Bartalamew. What brings you to this ball with all these adults? Aren't you a bit lonely without any kids for you to play with?" As he spoke however, thats when Light got a proper look on the child's face. there was only one thing that brought his immediate attention. He spoke again, concern in his voice as he pointed towards the bandages on the child's head. "Who did that to you?"

The young boy shook his head. "No no Bart-All-La-Mew." He wondered why the man didn't say it like his older brother did. The man sure was funny, "Here with brother. Happy with brother." Bartholomew pointed at Loch again, the man's long silver hair easy to pick out. When the man asked about the bandages Bartholomew pointed at Loch, "He did." The boy smiled brightly, Loch always tied the boy's bandages on in the morning, it was a tradition that the small boy enjoyed immensely.

Light was, well, mad. In fact, he was mad to the point where he forgot anything about being professional and a gentleman. Meaning he got up quickly from his crouching position and immediately marched over to where the boy had pointed towards. That being a long silver haired man with a dark suit and fedora. While he didn't shove people out of the way as he moved, he did push them aside as he marched forward. Unfortunately, it was already causing a bit of a scene, since people tend to notice when a giant starts marching through a crowd, and he was also interrupting some people who were dancing as he stomped his way forward with thunderous steps. Those close by could feel the ground shake a bit as he marched forward, immediately staring at the source. In barely any time at all, he stood in front of the "brother". Well, not really, more like stood over, as Light stared intensely down towards the skull masked man, the blue fires much brighter than usual. Despite his anger, he did not shout, and spoke in a normal, but angry and intimidating voice. His right hand clenched into a fist, ready to strike. "Care to explain what you did to your brother that made him have to wear bandages, boy?"

Loch turned to track the source of the noise and soon looked up as the source towered over him. "Excuse me? Do to my brother? Have you seen him? Where is he?" His slightly maternal instincts drowning out the question. He peered around Light to see Bartholomew tottering behind the large man. Nothing seemed wrong with Bartholomew as he giggled catching back up. Loch breathed a sigh of relief. "I should really get a leash for him, keeps running off..." He chuckled lightly, "Little kids amirite? Thank you for finding him, I was beginning to worry."

Light didn't speak in the slightest, staying dead silent. Instead, he reached for his scarf, gently unwrapping it from his head, revealing the husk of a head underneath the cloth. He cracked his neck as he bent over, his head leaning in close to Loch's face. The most terrifying part was his eyes. What was before just small embers in his sockets, were now full one fires, the flames close to erupting from his sockets, nearly burning Loch's face with the intense fire. He spoke with the darkest, most shallow voice one can ever hear through one's lift time. "Explain what you did to his head. Now." His right hand unclenched, and he aimed towards Loch with his palm. This was of course hidden under the robe, but slowly, any light that could penetrate through the robe collected itself to his hand, shining through the robe like a small sun (Though not even nearly as bright).

"What the hell do you mean what I did to his head? You mean the bandages?" Loch growled, half tempted to dig out the man's "eyes." The dead man was getting on his nerves, "Yes I put them on. Are you insinuating that I hurt Bartholomew?" Shadows began to swirl around the reaper, reaching up to cling onto his shoulders and slowly form into a cloak while his suit began molding into armor. Loch's voice shook the air around him like a bass beat. "Look here you nearly-dead piece of filth. Apologize or so help me I'll stuff that worthless soul of yours in a more befitting vessel, like a goddamn slug or a maggot." As the two glowered at each other, Bartholomew had made his way around them and pressed his small frame against Loch's, comforting himself in the shadow's embrace as he hid himself from what was transpiring. He didn't understand why Mr. L and Loch were fighting, but Loch was beginning to get serious so the small boy did what he was taught to do and stayed silent, waiting for his brother's orders.

Abbas had noticed Light's movements, and his subsequent confrontation with Loch, and needless to say he didn't like it. Those two gave off waves of animosity as they spoke, with Light doing so rather unintentionally. The Immortal stood, shaking himself from his self loathing, and walked over rapidly, slipping past other people quickly.

He stepped in between the Undead Paladin, whose eyes were blazing like bonfires, and Loch, who had shadows swirling around him like a whirlpool.

"Gentlemen! Please, calm down!" Abbas looked up at Light, "I've talked to little..." He glanced down at Bartholomew, "Bart-All-La-Mew here, and if I'd guess anything, I'd say he has some type of injury that Loch the Reaper bandages every day. Bart was probably saying Loch does this!" He pointed to the bandages covering the small boy's head, "He bandages his head every day!"

The Immortal then turned to Loch, "And you! Back off! It was a simple misunderstanding! Mr L. didn't know what Bartholomew was saying, and from what I can tell he's a pretty stand up guy. Even if he got a bit up in arms, that doesn't give you the right to threaten him like that." He stated, frowning.

With that, he stepped back and pointed at both of them, "I'll say again. Just calm down!"

Someone was yelling. Halle snapped out of her hungry-tipsy hazy vertigone stupor and gestured towards the eating area.

"Ey Light," she called, quite brusquely in fact, "I'm gonna grab a couple cookies. You want a dance with me after?" The "nt" and "a" were effortfully annunciated as she eyed the man like a schoolmate she'd known only briefly from childhood and not followed up with since. She slyly noted every change in stature and demeanor as she smiled, daring him to get over himself and do the same.

For a few seconds, Light stayed in his hunched over position to Loch, his eyes illuminating the smaller man's face with blue light. The light in his hand was incredibly bright now, ready to be shot at Loch. But, this is not the time for that. With a loud sigh, strong enough that it lifted his scarf up a bit as he did so, the light in his hand disappeared, as if never there in the first place. The literal fires in his eye sockets slowly waned until they once more became simple embers. Slowly, he composed himself, standing back up and resuming his normal gentlemanly persona. He tried his best to sound professional but you could hear some hints of anger was still there. "I must then apologize for my own misunderstanding of what your little brother was trying to say. I apologize for being so quick to assume dire truths. I was simply worried that the child was being abused by someone."

Bowing his head at a 5 degree angle, but no more than that. He turned his head to his partner, who he had neglected for too long. "Of course, Halle. In fact, I will come with you, I would be interested in seeing how these 'cookies" look like." As he finished the sentence, he nodded his head to Abbas, and moved to Halle. The crowd of people that had surrounded Loch and Light in their confrontation looked in fear and shock as the confrontation ended and continued to stare for a bit as the two went on with their own business. The crowd that Light started passing through to get to Halle quickly got out of his way, either out of respect or out of fear. As Light finally approached Halle, he extended an arm to her, as if for her to grab. "Shall we go then, Mrs Halle?"

"Shall we go then, Mrs Halle?"

"Meet you there," Halle shrugged, already en route to FoodPlaceEatingArea central. Turning her shoulders slightly, so as to face the man as she walked, she added; "And I know you're just trying to be polite, but there's really no need to throw in the 'Mrs.' I never married." She didn't take his hand, but smiled a bit at the gesture.

Light released a breath, more like a sigh really, and scratched his head as he walked with Halle. He did feel a bit rejected as he put down his arm as he walked with her, his attempts at being a gentleman backfiring. "I do apologize for that, like you guess I'm trying my best to be polite. Although I will admit I am surprised a woman such as yourself never married."

Halle cackled a bit at that, to her credit trying as hard as she could not to make it sound like a rude cackle. She looked down for a moment, then up, then for a quick second at Light, then away. Eventually coming around, she gave Light a gentle punch on the shoulder and changed the subject.

"So you've really never seen a cookie before?"

08-08-2017, 01:38 PM
Realizing he had said something that probably was a bit on the nose, Light laughed a bit to ease the two as Halle punched him. He honestly didn't really feel anything, more like someone patted him on the back, but it was unnecessary to bring that up. He spoke with a much happier voice, really getting into talking to Halle. "I've never seen a cookie before. I've heard they taste very good and there are different types but I have never seen one before. Not that I would be able to eat it, since I lost my tastebuds." Light chuckled at his slightly self cruel joke, but made sure to keep an air of joy with Halle.

Halle nodded the slightest bit at the tastebuds comment -- not so much towards Light, but inwards, internalizing the notion and attempting to stomach it. Keeping the cautiously optimistic tone however, she smiled loosely once again and took another go at brightening the mood with her words. "Well Mr. L," she teased, "Taste buds or no taste buds, this might just be your lucky day. You'll get to see some cookies, and a dance with someone your height. How's that for firsts?"

Most people I meet are about the same height as children to me, so its a nice moment to meet someone I don't have to look down upon. Even though it isn't your natural height. Thank you for doing this Halle, I appreciate it. Thank you." Light paused for a second, then looked at Halle and spoke in a joking voice. "So when do I get to see the cookies?"

Light stood there for a second, completely silent. Then burst out in laughter. "Pardon me, I must have forgotten to mention I didn't know what they looked like." Calming down, he reached for one of the cookies. As he grabbed it however, it burst in his hand, the cookie crumbling all over the table. Light jumped back a bit in surprise. He had no idea that they were so fragile. He grabbed another one, this time MUCH more gently and closely inspected it. He tried sniffing it. Then he remember he had no sense of smell. It looked good to eat, oh well.

Now that Light had left Sarah was free to do as she pleased and as she took one last look at the dance floor she saw Abbas at the front of it with his hands buried in his face. She bit his lip and thought for a moment why. She had said she understood emergencies and made it clear that she meant it. Perhaps he was still feeling bad about it though. There was no reason why he wouldn't if he really did care and he apologized.

She ultimately decided to waltz up to him and force a smile. "Hey Abbas. Do you want to try this again?"

Halle laughed as Light did, her cookie crumbling as well. Some of the pieces fell down her dress, and she moved futilely to brush away the stragglers, who fell further still. Light's attempts at smelling the cookie illicited a tumultuous mishmash of emotions. Pity, respect, laughter, and adoration manifested themselves in what could best be described as a pouting upturned frown that hurt like a laugh after back surgery.

The Immortal glanced up, still frowning, and shook his head, "I've lived long enough to know when someone is trying to cheer someone up. That smile of yours isn't sincere, you're just trying to make me feel better."

Even if he meant it, Abbas stood up and bowed, "You shouldn't have to. I was the one who made the mistake in the first place and left you alone on the dance floor." With this, he straightened and extended a hand, "Now, if you'll allow me to be the one to say it, shall we try again?"

Admittedly surprised, Light accepted Halle's hug, even wrapping his hand in more robe and putting his arm around her shoulder. He felt something, something he hadn't felt for a very long time. What is it? He can't recognize it. But it feels familiar. "I must apologize, I don't think I can enjoy cookies as much as you can. I don't have the senses for it!" Instead of a laugh, it was a bit more a chuckle. He looked down to his partner and spoke in his mellow voice. "Want some help with the crumbs in your dress?" Staying silent for a second, then laughing at his absurd offer.

There were a few stray tears in her eyes when she pulled away. She laughed as Light did, and at his stupid pointless joke, but deep down you could tell this whole thing was really fucking her up. She'd seen Light one time before, along with the rest of Sanctuary. He hadn't said much, but Halle had learned throughout the evening that he'd met someone that day. A smithy. Dante had described their adventure in detail later on, describing it as the happiest he'd seen the bastard, but only after the fact -- the fact in question being that she'd fucking died like a few days after. Light had gone on a killing spree then, blindly aimed. There was no telling how many people this man had slain. Yet here he was, sniffing cookies with no nose. She worried for Light and tended to him. But none of this felt quite right and it was beginning to show as Halle continued to chow down on the cookies.

Light put the cookie down, gently placing it back on the tray he had taken it from, and reached in his robe. Quickly, he took out what seemed a bit like a handkerchief, and handed it to Halle, having realized she was teary eyed. At the same time he noticed a concerned look on her face, and it worried him. He made a mental note to try his best to keep it that way, and began guiding her back up onto the dance floor, initiating the dance they had been previously performing. Namely, a swing.

As he moved, the Immortal frowned, "If I may say it again, I'm sorry I left you before. It wasn't a polite thing to do. And I won't do it again. That's a promise." He stated, giving Cassady a confident grin.

As he said it, the Immortal felt a little embarrassed, feeling as if he was being a stickler for the rules, and felt a slight heat rise in his face. He shrugged ever so slightly, "Though, you don't have to if you don't want to." He added.

Ana could begin to feel some fatigue building up from their rather intense routine. Thankfully the music slowed down enough for her to begin catching her breath...only for said breath to hitch as waves of animosity rolled over her like tall waves crashing into the shore.

The girl craned her neck to catch a glimpse of the giant with glowing eyes , Mr.L apparently, and Loch almost begin a brawl in the middle of the place. Ana's wings began to jerk involuntarily, her instincts screaming at her to book it as fast as she could. Thankfully Abbas had stepped in and helped clear the understanding that caused all the tension. At the end of it all though Ana was feeling more tired. she broke away from her partner a few feet, "Sorry, I kind of need to sit down for a bit," the courier placed her best apologetic face to show, "Sorry about cutting our performance short, even though I was the one who invited you, still that was a great experience, rather flashy for the first song of the night but absolutely enjoyable."

Only a few steps away from the seats, he stopped and turned back around, offering a hand. "For being quite the partner," he explained.

Erik Eolas. Give me information about Erik Eolas.

His mind rapidly pulled away from his body, thrusting like a knife into the girl's. Time slowed to a complete halt, and images began to flash onto the cinema of his mind, wound down into sped up footage, faces passing by, slowing down to a visible and audible level...

Sarah looked back at Eric Kassaran and back at the Abbas. Before she could answer anything though Loch spoke to the guy and they began talking. As soon as her partner was finished though she decided to add something. She wasn't quite sure what to think of him but he seemed nice enough at the moment so she decided to go ahead and give it a try.

"It's nice to meet you." She said glancing at the child then back at him.

[OOC: Sorry I was MIA for a while, I was sick for three days and then out with a friend for the entire day yesterday... :P]

As the music played, Clive's motions changed completely. He swayed back and forth, letting the tunes flow throughout his entire being. Yes, yes, this was a good song right here! As he moved, keeping perfect time with the beat, he suddenly realized he was supposed to have a partner in all this. Stopping stiff, he turned about, catching sight of her standing rather alone nearby. He rushed towards her, nearly stumbling over his own feet.

*Sorry...sorry...I forgot...* he signed quickly, every part of his body signalling his embarrassment. *Here, just take my hand...and we'll figure out how to do this as a pair...okay?*

After a brief pause, he added. *Oh, and can you sign with one hand? Maybe we have to dance close to each other to compensate...?*

"No no. I want to follow the rules." She put her left hand on his shoulder as he said. She said she wanted to try this but she was going to do the actual dances to the best of her ability. That would be the most fun for her and it would likely be the most fun for them both. At the very least she had seen the waltz before so it wasn't like she was at square one anyways and following was made easy enough for him even if she was.

'Not very well,' Blair confessed with the one hand, as her other took his, 'And It's alright, just the... characters here... I don't know, I could use the distraction.' She gave him a smile as she. 'Don't you worry though! You haven't done anything wrong.'

Abbas did his best to keep the pace even, letting Sarah keep up, and tried to make some small talk,

"So... Pardon me if it seems abrupt, but what exactly do you do for a job? Does it have anything to do with RHG?" He asked.

The music was nearing its climax, and Abbas felt that the song was going to change soon.

"Oh that. Yeah I actually watch and edit videos for them." She recalled. She wasn't ecstatic but she seemed like she enjoyed her job enough. "I know a lot of things about a lot of gladiators. What they do in public at least. It becomes pretty easy to get to know them on a superficial level and figure out what kind of people they are and what they're goals are. How do I put this-" She wasn't quite sure what to say. She wanted to say you could tell a lot about someone based on how and why they fight but that sounded kind of cliche so she was not exactly inclined to say it.

Abbas looked down at her, the unfinished answer giving him the opportunity to interject, "You can tell what type of person the fighter is by what they fight for?" He asked, slightly disappointed.

With a start, the Immortal realized she probably thought of him as a good person for the wrong reason, she probably thought of him as a hero. He wasn't though, he was a killer, an undying killer with too much blood on his hands to be seen as one.

"I'll say it first before you do. I'm no hero, no hero would have as much blood on my hands as I do. I may fight for the right reason but that doesn't excuse what I've done." He stated, and for once in his long, extremely long life, Abbas felt the hint of a tear in both eyes. He blinked rapidly, trying to hide it, but to no avail. They wouldn't vanish like the past.

"But you are a hero Abbas." She said undeterred. Whatever reason he fought he wasn't, she didn't seem to be convinced. "How do you think I first heard about you? Every time i'm asked to edit some video of you, you're stopping robberies, saving people, helping others, and-" She almost got ahead of herself but she stopped at that last one. "Well let's just say I get a lot of stuff about you. Not just you." The last part of that conversation she added quickly so that she didn't look like some stalker or obsessed fan. "The point is, if you were some sort of ruthless killer I would know. I get that you're not 'pure' in a sense but I really don't think many hero types are. And don't think your actions haven't gone appreciated either."

The Immortal raised an eyebrow at his partner, "What were you gonna say on that last one?" He asked.

If she was trying to make it seem like she kept tabs on other gladiators and not just him then that made perfect sense to him, she didn't want to come off to him, one of the several people she admired, as a stalker or anything. But even then Abbas wouldn't care, he knew that by having joined the RHG he was going to be monitored a lot, he was used to it by now. He decided to try and confirm what Sarah was going to say.

"If you're worried about sounding like a creep by editing footage of me doing 'heroic' things as you said, then don't worry, it's not a problem in the slightest."

"Nothing, I was just getting ahead of myself when I realized how creepy I must have sounded." She said still trying not to creep the guy out.

"Satellites, security cameras, drones, phones, it must be frustrating having your privacy invaded by all of it. I didn't want to come across as somebody who obsessively keeps tabs on everything you do." It was actually false, the wRHG obsessively kept tabs on everything he did as well as all the things the other gladiators did. They'd scrape the bottom of the barrel or do anything for a good story or fight. And when they couldn't get what that they would instigate their own events to talk about. If she remembered correctly she even recalled one with a bunch of shipping fanfics. She tried her hardest but failed to suppress a shudder at some of the works and reactions.

Abbas tilted his head, "I spend a lot more time studying the workings of the RHG than a lot of people realize. They're not that secretive with what they tell their employed gladiators. I know quite a bit. Though I'd guess not as much as you."

The Immortal frowned for a second, pondering, then asked, "If I may ask, how much do you know about me? Just curious..."

*Oh...thanks!* Clive responded, clearly relieved. *I'm sorry if I'm probably acting weird...or something...*

He slowed his steps a moment, watching Blair's motions. His shoulders jiggled a bit, and he froze them quickly.

*Okay...uh, try to listen for the different notes.* he told her, halting his dance altogether. *When they come up, just move. When the note changes, try to make that move different...if you can. Or, you could just copy me; I don't mind.*

He finished the sentence with a thumbs-up, letting go of Blair's hand. Then, he listened a moment, figuring out where the song was going, and then started dancing again. His robes swirled like fluid, and the gracefulness in his moves were astounding. His moves got complex, and then he slowed down, staggering a little when he came out of his spin.

*Sorry...sorry...I forgot you were supposed to be copying me. Uhhhh...right. Simple moves.*

He began the routine again, but with shorter, easy-to-pick-up motions. While he did, he signed to her.

*Or you could just do one move over and over; it doesn't matter to me. We could both just do that together.*

'We can go big!' Blair let out a soft chuckle, Clive's innocence being pretty stark contrast from a few of the others present that night. 'Just gotta find the rhythm!'

'See! We can do this!'

(OOC: Well yes but the recipients didn't take things so well when they found out there were fanfics about them.)

"Well-" She went on trying to figure out what was creepy and what was not. "The division in RHG I work for keeps VERY accurate tabs on the gladiators they are supposed to be following. So I know almost all of it. I know you were born about 3000 BC or so, fought off a lion at a young age, have successfully fought off death, you have you're own Dojo where you have guests reside when you chose to, your a master in the art of the bow and the staff, but you really seem to like Scimitars? Am I off? And as for your fights, you've fought off at least two robberies in which one your aligned yourself with an agent." She began to be more matter of fact as she went on. "Now as for your personality, I think you've grown a bit cynical towards a lot of people but you are more than willing to help people who need it. And quite frankly, I might be that disgusted if I had been fighting for as long as you have." As opposed to never she didn't say. It was rather obvious.

The Immortal glanced down at her again, "Last human who knew that much about me was my wife."

A tear slid down his cheek, which he swiftly wiped away, "I've lived hundreds of lives, only recently have I begun to find meaning in mine again." He stepped away from Sarah and spun her, a traditional move, and brought her back, close to him, all the while breathing out heavily.

"You're right in what you say. I don't trust mankind. But people like you and a pair of fellow fighters have taught me different. Not all people are bad."

Clive stopped dancing a moment, watching Blair while clapping his hands (and tapping one foot) to the music. He stopped a moment to sign, *Perfect! I knew you hid an amazing dancer in there!*

He then returned to dancing, doing a couple twists, keeping time. *Wanna do a dance battle? I promise I'll go easy on you!*

Confusion went over his face, and he shook his head. *Hold on a minute...what am I signing? You don't battle your partner; that's ridiculous!*

"Well of course not. If everyone were bad then the world wouldn't be worth saving would it?" She smiled and said. She wasn't quite sure if she agreed with that sentiment but she said it. "I've... Detached myself from the world, and conflict. Those things don't affect me anymore. It's the things that didn't involve either that can get me to show some form of emotion. In what you just saw, mostly sadness."

He laughed to himself and pointed to the food table, "I've had fun dancing so far, but would you mind if I grabbed something to eat? I haven't had dinner tonight and am a bit hungry. Care to accompany me?" He asked, extending his hand.

Realizing that may be a bit too intimate, he retracted his hand, looking down at the floor.

Loch sighed, his breath hissing through his teeth. But as the undead walked away, his shadow grew more tame and sank back down while his armor molded back into his suit. He straightened his lapels and fixed his hat as he took a deep breath to calm himself. He looked down and smiled softly at Bartholomew. "Sorry about that, did I scare you?"

The small boy shook his head. "Were you going to kill Mr. L?" Bartholomew asked and Loch looked at the man, goofing off by the concessions with his date.

"Maybe, do you want to dance some more?" Loch bent down and picked up the small boy.

Bartholomew shook his head and pointed to the concessions. "Cookies!"

"No, you already had some." Loch shook his head.

Bartholomew pouted, "No cookies?" His eyes grew watery and he sniffled.

Loch sighed. "Alright, one more okay?" The boy instantly brightened up and nodded. Loch put Bartholomew's hood back on and rubbed his head. "You spoiled little brat." He chuckled as the little boy giggled. Loch hoisted Bartholomew onto his shoulders where the penguin began to imagine he was flying as Loch walked over to the cookies. He made sure to give the other two a wide berth as he approached the table from the other side. Despite Bartholomew's focus on the cookies, the table was covered with much more than just those. There was a wide assortment of treats and as Loch grabbed a cookie for Bartholomew, he grabbed a bunch of grapes for himself. He passed the cookie to the boy and then plucked a grape, popping it into his mouth.

Abbas smiled back and guided himself and Sarah across the room to the refreshments and snacks. Once there, the Immortal spotted Light and Halle getting along, if not a bit close. The sight made him laugh slightly, a being such as Light being able to get a beautiful woman like Halle to like him. The Undead giant had a certain charm that Abbas had felt from the beginning, besides his apparent intimidation.

Loch was also there, picking at a pile of grapes while little Bartholomew nibbled on another cookie. Abbas frowned at the Reaper, then turned his attention back to Cassady, his previous smile returning, "So... Tell me about yourself, besides your job and what not. Got any siblings?"

“So what was it you absolutely needed to tell me?” The familiar voice of her elder brother rang in her ears. Erik Eolas was sitting across the living room table, he was wearing a plain blue T-shirt, his black hair was messy and his similarly colored eyes were as unremarkable as always.

“Oh yeah,” Ana wiped away some crumbs off her from the pineapple upside-down cake she was currently enjoying. She had arrived at Erik's apartment just in time for Claire, one of Erik's maids, to finish baking the heavenly pastry. “Well, put simply Yuki’s coming here tomorrow and we need you to provide asylum.”

“Wait, wait, what?” the puppeteer looking completely bewildered at the statement, “Back up a bit, why do I have to hide her, actually why is she coming here in the first place?”

Ana swallowed another piece of the cake, “Hmmm, well, starting from the beginning, we got a job request from the US government...”

The world seemed to slow and mesh into itself, blending into a trippy mish-mash of colors. Just as suddenly the colors began to fade, then grow immensely darker, outlines began to appear, lines and curves moving across a canvas until one could make an outline of a cabin deep in the woods. Night had already fallen in fact it was probably close to midnight, the waning moon being the only source of eerie, weak moonlight.

Ana took a small scrap of cloth from her pocket. She brought the cloth up to her nose and breathed in... lime scented soap, salt from copious amounts of sweat, traces of spent gunpowder, and the faint traces of blood. The winged messenger returned the cloth and took a deep breath of the forest air... the earthen scent dominated the air, closely followed by the smell of ash, likely from the small fire from within the cabin, finally and most important was the coppery traces of blood, the exact same as the one from the cloth scrap. The girl smiled, "Target confirmed hiding inside the cabin."

"Alright, good job Ana," the familiar flat tone of Erik rose from behind her. Suddenly the smell of iron and oil stuffed the air, the sound of metal grinding on metal irritated the winged girl's ears quite a bit forcing her to cover said organs. After summoning that annoying puppet of his, Erik spoke again, "beginning target elimination."

Ana blinked, suddenly finding away from the dark forest now lying on a bed in some modest establishment, the walls were a dark peach and the sole fluorescent bulb lighting the room as shining into her eyes forcing them closed again. The memory of the last few hours seeping into her mind. The facility she's known all her life in flames, the scent of ash, blood and smoke choking the air. The screams of men piercing the air. The last thing she remembered was a pair of purple eyes, the man they belonged to reaching out to her.

"Oh you're awake," a new voice reached the fourteen year old Ana's ears. It belonged to a boy, around a year older than her if she had to guess, black hair adorned his head and black eyes as well. Aside from those there was nothing really remarkable to him.

"Who are you? Where's the man with purple eyes?" Ana spoke softly still rather bewildered by everything.

"I'm Erik Eolas, nice to meet ya," the boy replied with a smile, "Purple eyes? did you mean Joseph, well he's the only guy with purple eyes I know at the moment, so yeah, he's out talking with our leader and if everything goes right you'll be part of the family when he gets back."

"Family?" the word was both familiar and foreign to the young Ana, she'd heard it all the time from those guys in the facility yet she never knew what being in one was like, even with the many people she met while in that facility no one approached her in the way they described how a family does. "Does that mean you're my brother then?"

"Huh...well yeah I guess it does," the boy replied rather awkwardly.

"Big Brother Erik, my name's Ana," she replied with a smile.

Ana blinked, suddenly finding herself back next to a table in the dance hall...she blinked again, twice then thrice. a cold sweat ran down her neck as she realized someone was holding her hand. She traced the appendage up to that of Eric Kasaran, who had a difficult expression on his face. Wait, Big Brother mentioned something like this...Wait did this bastard just... without finishing the thought she wrested away from his slackened grip and began glaring daggers at the half-angel, "I hope that was worth it."

His mind settled comfortably back within its bounds, as he quickly retracted his hand. The nephilim couldn't wipe the expression from his face.

Family?

The word rattled uncomfortably through his mind, bouncing around many implications that Eric hadn't fully grasped. So then... did this mean...?

Ana's words suddenly snapped him back into consciousness. He went to lie, but quickly stopped himself. She already knew what he'd done. There wasn't much escaping that now.

"I had to be sure," he muttered, somewhat distantly. "I already felt traces, but I had to be sure..."

His voice faltered.

What did family mean? Did that imply a group? A biological unit? Were the two entirely alone? What was their agenda? What was their endgame? What the hell was she doing standing with a murderer?

That was, after all, what Erik was.

"Did you know?" he suddenly blurted out, harsher than he had originally intended. "Did you know that Erik was dangerous? Did you know he killed? And why the fuck did you just play along?"

Oster
08-10-2017, 01:43 AM
"Pftt...of course I knew," Ana said sounding more contemptuous than she intended, "You don't spend a few weeks around him and not know he has the ability to slit throats so easily, hell that's true for most people, even you I bet."

"They don't hide much from me, I'm really thankful for that," Ana regained a more sincere tone for a second before reverting back to one of more controlled spite, "I know I'm surrounded by killers but they care for me like no one else has, than anyone ever will. So of course I'll help them even with their worst."

She took a deep breath, "You probably had a family once, you know the feeling of wanting to support them and keep them safe, even with all their faults. Well that's how I feel, being born from glass tube in some genetics lab I can't even claim a remote connection with even a single person! He's one of the first people to show me any kind of modicum of respect and appreciation."

GenericAnon
08-10-2017, 01:52 AM
"So you just blindly followed people who respected you?" He hissed, voice slipping into venomous territory. "That's not how a fucking family works!"

Ana turned, murder in her eyes, but Eric cut off any response with, "Respect is not the same thing as fucking care! Do they respect you as a person, or as a weapon? And how can you know with any fucking certainty? Family isn't just some close group of mercenaries, its a name given to a group who would sacrifice everything in the entire world to defend each other. How the hell do you know they feel the fucking..."

Eric stopped, his voice constricted. It had slowly faded into a silent husky whisper as he continued. Memories kept on coming up, faster than he could suppress them. Of Terminus wrestling him to the ground in a pool of mud, while the two laughed. Of awed villagers coming to help them, as their mother helped the others. Of Niramel...

The nephilim turned silently away, disdainful and painful emotions contorting his face.

"Hmph, like you know anything, what you saw was less than a quarter of the time I spent with him," she replied so softly she wondered if the half-angel heard it. The winged messenger turned away from the brooding nephilim. He seemed to be wrestling with some pretty bad memories, any retort she'd have would likely fly over his head, not that it was any of her business. Instead she headed for the food selection again still rather pissed, the arse only saw her most recent memory of him, the first time she was allowed to work with the puppeteer, and the first time they had met.

Did they respect her as a person? Ha, of course they did...in fact they do so too much. Ana had so many memories of times contracts had ended with her having not so much as a scratch while her partner was covered in deep lacerations, Hell Erik and the others would have her on the sidelines even if their targets were well within her combat capacity despite her physical fragility.

She turned towards him for a second before shaking her head, a clash of ideals was what this was, and neither of the two winged beings would back down. With what Ana knew of Eric's personality it'd likely come down to fisticuffs and the girl knew she'd go down quicker than a person could blink. She needed to cool her head and the nephilim likely did too, maybe she'd attempt to talk to him again...maybe. With that she picked up another plate and quickly began to fill it once again.

Eric had already cooled down. He'd cleared his brain of any anger, wiped it of any thoughts of his past, and settled quickly back into his own state.

His thoughts turned to his next steps. He needed names. Names and places. His mind worked at hurricane pace, rapidly piecing together everything she said. Their was a group. A highly motivated, possibly dangerous, and well-armed group, wandering the city. And Ana might be his only chance at figuring out what exactly they were doing and why.

He turned around, and noticed she was gone. She'd slipped off somewhere, leaving him alone at the table.

Oh no you don't. I'm nowhere near finished.

He quickly tracked her down to another food table, again stacking her plate with goodies. Eric pressed through the crowds, muffling his movements with the loud noises, and stood impassively behind her.

Ana turned around with a full plate of food, and almost jumped out of her skin.

"Names, places, and motives," Eric listed, impassively. "Who are you, what are you doing, and why?"

Sarah went to grab some food. She shot a glance at the couple already there but looked away quickly in an effort to ignore them. She supposed she understood but she still wasn't exactly happy with what Light had done. Anyways, Abbas provided a good enough distraction and especially since he asked about her life. Really when she thought about her life she didn't have a whole lot out of the ordinary but she went ahead and said what she could.

"I'm an only child. Both my parents are still alive and well. I don;t feel like telling you exactly where I live but I have to say we're not the richest family." She motioned to the old clothes she wore when she said that last part. "I was always pretty good with electronics, i'm currently studying in electronic design but I have a pretty decent job in the meantime which you already know about."

Abbas waved off the location part of her answer, "Wasn't asking for it. Though considering that you know where I live because of your job..." He glanced up, then shook his head, "Never mind don't worry about it."

Raising his free hand, the Immortal flexed all his fingers, a couple joints popping inside, "As for my family, I was the second oldest. My older brother Saul," he squeezed her hand, "That's short for Solomon, was more of a scholar than I was. I was obsessed with fighting for my tribe. After I left, my memories of him must have been the thing that spurred me to study the art of war."

He picked up a pair of crackers, some cheese and a small piece of ham, making a tiny sandwich. Lifting it up, he took a bite, then set the rest on his plate, looking down at Sarah once again. His golden eyes seemed to glow for a moment, perhaps a sign he was enjoying his time? He wouldn't know.

Despite the fact that they were simply acquaintances at this point, he still felt a duty as Halle's dance partner to care for her wellbeing. He warmly asked her "What is it that's bothering you Halle? You seem unwell."

Halle couldn't help but laugh. There was something off in her head.
She reached for the hankerchief and crumpled it up in Light's hand.
She held Light's crumpled up hand.

"Nothing I can't handle," she smiled, mania dripping down her tattooed and twitching ink-plastered skull as she lied.
"Still with me? There's another song coming up," she cooed.

DJ Happy, having previously just been jamming to the current song, a remix of the Epic Sax Guy, glanced over and spotted Halle getting a bit frisky with Light. He grinned ever so slightly, then rolled over to his laptop, where the night's playlist sat waiting.

Cracking his knuckles, the red-head typed into his search bar and found the song he found most appropriate for the situation, clicked it, then sat back, letting the music pound through the speakers. The song "Something Just Like This" began to roar, and Happy bounced his head up and down, jamming to the beat.

Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, the fires in Light's eyes just got a bit brighter and stronger as Halle held his hand. Nothing overly dramatic but it certainly was noticeable, at least for Halle anyway. He spoke happily, sounding genuinely happy, quite unlike how he has been for most of the evening. "I would be honored to dance with you Halle."

As he spoke, he quickly dropped his handkerchief onto the ground, and grabbed his full hand onto Halle's with a gentle grip. Holding her softly, he started to pull her over onto the main dance floor, gently moving people out of the way as he walked. As would be expected people noticed and showed a mixed array of emotions. Some, specifically those who saw what Light did earlier, avoided the two, while others looked on in curiosity at the two giants. He moved them both to the center of the room, pulling Halle in front of her, spinning her as he did so, his own robes lifting gently up and floating downwards as he did so. The feeling he had earlier when he spoke to Halle was much more powerful, powerful enough for him not to be able to ignore it. Trying his best to keep his persona, he felt his heart beating strong and fast as he looked to his partner, echoing throughout his body and slamming through his chest. There was some sort of aura to her, something he had not properly seen until now. Perhaps he was crazy. Or perhaps, she was just beautiful. To Light at least, it was the latter

As the song started, Light looked to Halle, his eyes glowing a mellow blue light through the purple scarf on his head, and extended his hand to her. Strangely, the fires in his eyes got brighter and darker in sync to the song, glowing brightly at one beat and then becoming dim the next one.

"May I be honored to have this dance with you, Halle Mackinson?"

"Sounds like he was a pretty big influence in your life then." She said while grabbing a little bit of everything and putting it on her plate. She always was one to emphasize the flavor of food and try a bit of as much as she could. It was a little gluttonous but she at least tried to keep her portions under control. It was just a fault she had. She looked back at him after she had grabbed everything hoping he wouldn't notice or care. Probably the second of the two honestly.

"He must have been really important to you." This actually brought up a question that she was wondering. How did this become immortal anyways? She had no plans herself of living forever but it was a curious subject.

Abbas nodded, taking another bite of his mini-sandwich, chewing, and swallowing. "Of course. I may not have agreed with everything he said at first but after setting out and being gifted this undying body, I realized there was a certain charm and nobility to what he did."

The Immortal picked a grape and bit into it, the sweetness a nice difference from the saltiness of the ham. He glanced at Sarah's plate, then up at the young woman, and smiled, just taking in her simple beauty once again.

'Oh be careful what you wish for, I can almost do a flip!' A playful grin slid across Blair, beginning to revolve around Clive as the music shifted. As the jazz faded out and something much slower began, a chuckle left her. 'But I don't know if it works with a slow song! Next fast one, you're on!'

As her rotation continued, the grin faded, picking up the tensed posture of the winged couple by the food. First Abbas was an inconsiderate ass, Loch locked into a measuring contest with Mr. L who himself was about to unleash hell and now... Seriously?

'You're not like the others,' She gazed softly at him before grabbing his hand and spinning around him, stopping where Eric and Ana would be in his view behind her, head staying still, but eyes indicating in their direction as she slid into a state of unease. 'What do you think?'

"Well being immortal I imagine leaves you with plenty of time. It's only natural that you pick up such a hobby." Cassady said assured with herself. If she had been gifted, or cursed depending on the perspective, she would try some new hobbies of her own. She wasn't sure studying the art of war would be quite her forte, probably something more along the lines of fashion, mechanics, or other interesting things she would never get to experience in her lifetime. But then again, you never know.

It hardly mattered however since she neither had desire nor capability to be immortal. Ms. Cassady would take her hopefully pleasant afterlife thank you very much. And as she refocused she brought some ham of to her own mouth. She relished the salty taste as she shewed it in her mouth. Come to think of it colony occupations would be something she would've considered studying as well.

Abbas nodded, "Fair enough, but even after a long enough amount of time you start to become fatigued by your favorite thing to do. It's honestly getting a bit boring." He stroked his chin with a free hand, "I haven't really got anything else to do besides gaming and fighting in the RHG."

He looked down at his hand, still in Sarah's, and back up, "I suppose dating is always an option but I never really saw a point as whoever I may end up with would die in the end."

The Immortal frowned, realizing how depressing the thought was, "That's rather sad actually." He pouted for a second, pondering his answer, then shook his head, "Though if the person is worth the pain of losing, then they must be able to keep me happy for as long as I have them."

"Well you could always try something new if you want to spice up your life." She said. Really she imagined that he already thought of that. He was an immortal and he wasn't exactly and idiot after all. He probably just hadn't figured out what to do yet. And she couldn't decide that for him either. She was sure he'd figure something out and she would be the first to know through monitors when he did. The only secret place she could think of was the Dojo and even that had a bug from the RHG for a few weeks before it was destroyed, she presumed by the owner. And as for a romantic interest. Well he hoped Abbas could find someone suitable for him. She definitely knew she didn't have anything special about her that so many of candidates did and they'd probably never see each other after this date, but at least they could be happy now. Secretly, she frowned at the whole thought of not being good enough for someone as special as him. Not him specifically but people like him in general.

The Immortal shook his head again and shrugged off the thought, "I have, a lot. But I always end up back at fighting. It's the only thing that thrills me anymore."

He smiled, continuing to shake his head, as if disagreeing with himself, "Listen to me, complaining about what bothers me. That's foolish, I chose to be immortal, and accepted the terms behind being so. They were fully thought over and I agreed to them. I shouldn't be complaining, I've lived a good life thus far."

With that he turned his back to the table, ever so slightly leaning on it for support, and tapped his foot to the music's beat, grinning wide. He let go of Sarah's hand for a moment and flexed his fingers, staring at them all the while, "I'd given up on humanity some time ago, you know. I thought they were incapable of righting their wrongs and going down the right path, that human's can't stop doing evil."

He retook his date's hand again, "But recently I've begun to think differently."

"May I be honored to have this dance with you, Halle Mackinson?"

Halle cocked a brow and lured Mr. L. on to the ballroom floor.

Following her lead, Light approached Halle, keeping his body close to hers. Looking into her yellow-green eyes, he felt enthralled in her, captivated by her. With no hesitation, as if his muscles were now in the lead and were making the decisions instead of him, his left hand grabbed her right hand and lifted it up away from the two, his hand wrapped around hers. Her hand felt warm, comfortable, nice to touch, and her skin was soft, like a fresh pillow. Despite his body moving and acting without his commands for it, Light showed no surprise, rather opting to stay being stuck in the sight of Halle, his mind frozen on her as if looked on by Medusa. He looked down into her, some of his scarf gently falling onto her face, or dangling in front of her. Gently, he moved the pieces on her face off with his right hand, softly comforting her face as he touched it, feeling the physical beauty of her. His heart beating loudly, all he heard was his body reacting excitedly to what was happening, his eyes growing on average a bit brighter, while still keeping to the beat. Then, slowly, he put his right hand on her back, nearly wrapping his arm completely on her back, his hand touching the opposite side his arm ended, nodding his head for her to do the same.

"Follow my lead."

Holding her close to his body, he moved both their bodies back and forth on the ballroom floor, stepping backwards and forwards, keeping their movements synced to each other's moves and keeping the dance flowing. Moving her once more, this time leading them both by his left hand, moving them around in the circle that the crowd of people watching had formed. Close to everyone was staring, not that Light minded. Despite both partners size and weight, they moved smoothly on the floor, and keep their steps quiet and gentle on the ground. Moving back and forth in one singular motion, moving around constantly, Light's heart only beat stronger and stronger, to the point where Halle could feel it as he held her close to his body. The lights in the room slowly dimmed as the two moved, until there was only one dim spotlight fixed on the duo

Thats when it happened. Somehow, beyond Light's control, light was forming underneath him. Each step the two took around the room left small soft balls of light that illuminated the room, floating gently upwards and creating a dimly lit atmosphere of where the two danced, illuminating beautifully the two as they moved together. The small balls of light illuminated the whole ballroom, awing many of the spectators who themselves also were illuminated by the light. The light created an amazing atmosphere of light and dark, the two would walk through small pockets of light and reveal themselves to the crowd, only to go back into the dim light, the only light illuminating them there was the blue fire in Light's eyes, silhouetting the two to the crowd like two shadows dancing in the night. While not feeling any pain, Light knew the balls of light was burning his body, but he didn't care. It was too beautiful a moment to care.

Slowly, he moved them both to the center of the room, slowing down their movements, until they simply waved back and forth in sync to each other. Moving his and her hand down, Light put both of Halle's hand around his neck, and put both his hands on her hips. He looked gently at her, his eyes glowing brightly, contrasting to the white lights floating around them. He looked down to his partner, his own eyes gently calming down to small embers. Slowly, he rested his forehead against hers, his scarf covering her face and his fires illuminating them both underneath the large cloth. For a while they both stood there, moving back and forth like waves, just looking into each other.

Then, as the song slowly faded away into the silence, and the balls of light slowly faded away, and all that was left was the duo in a dim spotlight, illuminated by blue fire in a sea of dim darkness. As the lights came back on, Light lifted his head from Halle's head, and looked at her, while moving his hands away from her hips, taking down her hands from his neck, and holding both of her hands tightly with his own.

"Thank you for this dance, Halle."

With those words, the crowd applauded the two, some whoops and cheers even coming into it.

After getting over the initial shock, Ana stared at the nephilim like he grew a second head. The sheer audacity this asshole had was shocking to the point she nearly flipped him the bird on impulse. Instead she narrowed her gaze, "Are you F**king serious, after all that shit you spouted about family, you really think I would sell out my own?"

She nearly screeched but managed to control the volume of her voice, "And don't think you can do that memory-shit again, or did you think my training didn't include anti-mind-reading, anti-truth serum, anti-hypnosis, and all that other stuff, I was specifically made and trained to handle sensitive information, I chose to give you those hints, now use that damn brain of yours and figure it out, or better yet have that lady friend of yours dig up our information. Our services may not be cheap but we get the job done."

She turned and headed for a table close to the dance floor but before leaving she said one more thing, "And if you pursue me further, I can have a federal judge put you behind bars for a very long time...if you think I'm bluffing remember what you saw in my memory." With that she left yet she kept her senses on high alert to watch out for him, she'd pack it out of here through one of the windows if necessary.

'Oh be careful what you wish for, I can almost do a flip! But I don't know if it works with a slow song! Next fast one, you're on!'

Clive's shoulders jiggled, and he matched her movements for a bit, his own motions smooth and beat-wise. *I believe you without a shadow of a doubt* he signed to her.

'You're not like the others...what do you think?'

As his partner twirled, Clive rotated with her, maintaining eye contact. *Uh...* he fumbled. *Think of what?*

He came out of his spin with another stagger, feeling nervous and fluttery for some reason. Was she...? Wait, no...he wasn't going to finish that thought. She didn't think he was attractive, did she? The idea made him feel confused, excited, scared and a number of other emotions all at once. Of course not! Besides...there was no place for the living in the world of the dead. Still, he didn't have to go back...at least, not right away.

Clive shook his head, trying to focus on the music.

Peeking out of a slit in the back of his hood, Katrina kept tabs on the rest of the room's occupants. She could sense the tension of the winged ones, and it was making her slightly agitated. As Clive went for a fluid twirl, he spotted the big grey dead man, "Mr. L" as his partner called him, releasing light balls across the dance floor. Seeing them excited the reaper, and he slowed his dance a bit to take in the awesome spectacle.

She honestly didn't care whether Abbas had a right to complain or not. It was human nature to sign up for something without knowing what you were getting into or to discover some sort of unforeseen consequence after so much time. She wouldn't have blamed him if he hated his life and while he seemed contented enough, it was a shame that he hadn't found some suitable hobby to replace fighting. She supposed that was just something that there would never be a shortage of.

On a much lighter note, he seemed to be figuring something out about humanity. Something positive that made him no longer give up on it. And she wanted to know what it was. "May I ask what changed your mind? Especially after all of this time?" She asked him curiously.

Ana turned to leave, but Eric was having none of it. He clamped his hand on her shoulder like a vice, and locked her in place.

"You completely misunderstand," he hissed, his voice as hard and immovable as iron. "I don't care about a single group of however many people you are. I don't care about hints, or cryptic clues, or any such bullshit. I care about the people who are inevitably going to get killed when they get in your way."

She immediately tried to turn, probably to rebut him, but Eric clamped down tighter, locking her in place, and making her cringe. "Don't fucking act like that's impossible. You aren't a goddamn charity, you're a merc group."

Again, the Avian tried to get a word out. "I have a case study as well. Went missing about four weeks ago, currently a missing person case, residing in a rotted hulk of wood and flesh. Amy Fucking Laymore. A goddamn nurse at a central fucking hospital. A victim, in fact, of your 'brother's' megalomania. Your group has ruined real fucking lives. Lives of people who are just doing their goddamn job."

Ana was silent, almost certainly keeping her lips tightly bound. "Let me put this another way. You have two options. Either you hand over every scrap of information you can about this merc group, and do your goddamn hardest to convince me not to drag everyone in this clan kicking and screaming to interpol headquarters, or you can run away, and end up tranquillised in an interrogation chamber, and the information will be extracted anyway."

He paused for a second allowing that all to sink in. "Look Ana, I'm certain you don't want to put people in the crossfire. But if you don't give me a reason to let a gang of people who've committed capital offences pass under the net, sooner or later, we're going to end up in a brawl you have no chance of winning. If I thought you were a lost cause, I would've just signalled my friend outside, and in about 10 hours, you'd all be in a jail cell. You don't want that to happen to your friends, do you? And what about those innocents who'll most likely be caught up in the crossfire? What about them?"

What he'd done was potentially dangerous. He'd just laid his entire hand on the table, and declared himself to be in an unbeatable position. He had no cards left to play if she responded. It wasn't even a bluff; he was planning to call Chase if she just ran off, and then let degenerator grill her in an interrogation chamber. A part of him, however, was hoping she agreed to his option. She had an easy chance to explain herself here. All she had to do was take it.

"Let me just ask, what kind of mercenary company do you think we are? Some small time group based out of a single city or something? because if you are then you'd be dead wrong. We're global, besides we don't actually hide all that much, I'm sure you're part of the deep underground just look for the Menagerie, I'm sure you'll find us."

Hah, so it's come down to this then. At that moment she activated the mark on her back, it wasn't magic or anything detectable just a skill she was born with, basically anyone she'd marked as part of her "Flock" became connected to a globe spanning communications network capable of two way communication. She sent out a distress signal to everyone in the Menagerie, surprisingly at the moment she could feel four people within the city and a few others within close proximity, Erik was a given but she could also sense Yukino since she decided to live here as well but surprisingly she could feel the presence of Min and Jerome. What, why was Jerome here, and so close as well?
