define peace.
by stellerz.

close your eyes
think of the world
think of the violence
think of hunger
think of death
think of religion
think of peace.

now think of the world without war
think of the world without weapons
think of the world without apocolyptic prophecies
how would you define peace?
the world without violence and war?
the world without weapons?

think of the world without money
think of the world without government
think of a world where every single person was equal
think of how this would anger the people that work harder
think of the violence this would create.
now how would you define peace?
equality or no violence?

This idea struck me as I was reading through these forums. No planning went into it, so please keep the feedbsck positive.

Replace equal with "high". Peace? Yes.

Dead works too.

Good idea. You mean "think of a world where everyone was high/dead?

Yep. Thing is equality is not a quality of humanity. We advance through variation, unless you want us all to be subatomic particles then we'd be totally equal for the most part. All beings fight for survival, don't see why humans are any different. War and fighting will always exist.

If all people we're like Buddha, we'd be at peace. Live life in the middle
no luxury no pleasure no happiness | no sadness - no pain - no suffering

I see a world infested by nothing but non-vicious animals (like elephants). Boring. And nothing would ever get done.

Equality is great to strive for and everything, but it just can't be done. If every person were to be equal, we would lose what makes us human. We would lose competition. We would lose the ability to make ourselves better than another person. Hell, if you really want to get technical about it, there is no possible way equality can occur as everyone would have to be equal on a talent level. For example, I am unequal with Michael Phelps when it comes to swimming. He is faster than me, and so we are not equal. How are you supposed to fix that?

Equality would suck.

Equal opportunity, that is giving everyone the same chance to get higher in life and be successful, might be better.

Sorry, but I live by the American Dream, which is the idea of equal opportunity, and not socialism (which is just equality).

If this makes any sense at all, then yay!

Reminds me of Imagine by John Lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
