My buddies from school got to be the first to test out one of the maps of my in development games.

Enhance the level scenery and maybe add some more detail to the characters.
Ths would be kick ass if the levels were a lot more detailed.

Its not even a basic build of the game yet.

I figured as much.
I just assumed that I should have said that because you didn't tell us what stage the game was in.

If you're still working on the coding to make everything work and stuff, I understand. It isn't hard to make the scenery better after that.

Please don't let the scenery be like it was in blocky >_>

Haha, dont worry, it wont, Blockie was supposed to be overly simple, this game is going to be a teensy bit more complex in the art department.

Blockie's art style went good for the game.
I'm just suggesting that this should have more complex backgrounds. Not necessarily with the platforms and stages though. A nice background goes a long way.

Buy a new one.

Oh, and are there going to be advantage spots on the levels when playing online? Such as a sniper tower sort of thing (basically a high elevation that would make it easier for anyone on the highest point).

And are you considering adding a team option? Things like Team slayer, and Team CTF would be awesome as hell.

Yes, there are advantage spots for the various classes, for example:
On the map in the beta currently shown, there are good hiding and elevation spots for the snipers.
There are good underground and inactive areas for the spies to lurk around.
There are certain battle areas that the soldiers can just have a blast with.
There are good defensive zones for the engineers.
And a few spots for the other classes I dont want to reveal yet.

As for the team options, yes, I am working on that, but the only one I have done so far is just regular death match.
The modes I am currently working on are:
1v1,
Team Death Match,
Team Capture Point,
Team Capture the Flag,
Team Intel,
Team VIP.


How did you set up the Online for your school? Was it browser based or LAN?

I used online servers and coding in the game, had my buddies sign up, and there it was.
We played in our own homes.

Okay how does this work? I mean, how can you make a not 3-D shooter? If it's 2D.. You can just spray all the way forward and kill everybody, isn't that right?

Btw, the classes there sound reaaaaaaally awesome :D. A bit like 2D Killzone2?

No, there are 5 levels of height in direction, there are about 80 different places players can be at anytime.
And no, its a bit like a 2-D shooter.
Killzone 2 isnt the only game with classes.

Its the effect that happens when you get a kill, it goes photo negative for a few seconds.

The cursor blurs away as an effect.
And its still white because I dont photonegative the whole screen, just enough for it to look interesting.

A sniper would probably be the worst idea for this game. Once you scope, all you're going to see out of is a small circular area and it's going to be tough trying to find the guy you're trying to snipe.

Also, this style is getting tiring. I mean, sure, if you actually pull this off with all the coding, it'd still be a fun game, but if you were to submit it to Newgrounds or something, Thing Thing would outshadow it easily. Instead of using such solid lines to design your characters, try using brush maybe? I know it sounds like I'm telling you to change up your overall style, but the characters right now doesn't seem to fit the game.

It's looking good though and I hope you pull off what you say you're going to pull off. Good luck.

The sniper has spotting goggles for spotting, and a sniper for the actual shooting.
And thank you for the advice, I will be sure to take some of your opinions to thought.
