First of all, the line between lit up area and not lit up area is too thin. Maybe use the soften fill edges thing to help with that. Also, the light goes foreward and abruptly ends. With your gradient, you may want to add another segment and make its alpha value 0, so that the light fades out a bit. But as far as I can tell, this is one of your firsts, so good job and keep improving.

i see
i've made it looking a lil bit better, by setting alpha value to 50, and such. now it more looks like light, not like a yellow thing..
but, what do you mean with soft fill edges? i understand what you mean, that the beam ends at a certain spot, but how do i fix it?
i'm using macromedia flash pro 8 :)

Click on the light then go to modify --> shape --> soften fill edges, and make both of the choices like 6 or so.
And you did use a gradient for the light, right? So add one more step at the end of the gradient, but set its alpha value to 0, so that way it will fade out. Does that make sense?

I was gonna say the exact same thing as Doc said, but just to rephrase:

1. Draw out the light.
2. Fill with gradient. One side - about 30-80% opacity yellow/color, Second side: 0% opacity whatever
3. Select the light.
4. Modify > Shape > Convert lines to fills
5. Reselect the light.
6. Modify > Shape > Soften Fill Edges
7. Set whatever settings you want.
8. GG
