I kinda...in a way...know how to make explosions that don't look terrible.

I end up with a some cloud....and I don't know how to make it dissapear in a cool way. So if you guys could help me..that'd be awesome.

(I've been through the tutorials and couldn't find anything)

Thanks.

You could just make more and more spaces in between...

well thats how i do it..

I'm sorry, can you give me an example? I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Something like this but make disappear bit slower

Disperse the cloud as solid particles.

Ill admit im no explosion expert but have no fear im sure some better explosionists will come to ur rescue soon (zackfire). hope this helps in the mean time :)

Particles, or make it end with the whole frame covered.

I'm working on a new explosion, almost done. It's based on all the advice I got here.

We'll see.

Your explosion slows down and speeds up for some reason, it shouldn't start expanding really fast at the end like it does. Also, smoke trails shouldn't be curled like that, smoke is lighter than air so there is no reason for them to droop. Unless, there is an object leading the smoke trail, in which case, it wouldn't stop and hover like the one you've shown. If you're going to make trails like that, they should keep going till they hit the ground. It looks better if you vary them anyways.

So what your saying, is that smoke should float upwards?....

Better than the first one, but.......meh

Slow on the end. If it disappears then there has to be an acceleration, intead of making it go even fast.

Does it look better like this?

btw, Rival, Ik ben ook nederlands ^^

no, the first try was better.

The disappearance in the middle of the smoke was good, but needs to go faster then the outline of the smoke. Get it? I'm horrible at explanations :P

I kinda tried that....but, I loved the way it went sloooowwww.....Anyways, i'll edit it sometime.

hey whether or not the end is good yet the actual explosion is much better. Greaat job and keep improving ! :) Just need to work on the dispersion now ;d

The outline of the smoke keeps speeding up and slowing down after the main blast, it should stay constant that whole time, or even be slowing down. Meanwhile, the dissipation should be speeding up. Also, it looks better when the dissipation starts from more than on place.

This is what I meant. I'm suckingly bad at explanations :<

So the disperting part should gain on the actual smoke.
(I suck at explaining to but I think I know what you mean)

Yes. The particles were a bit weird, but the dispersing is good.

It was kinda rushed, just to see if I got it right.

I still think you need to to ease the rest of the explosion. The way it constantly moves out is weird.

You can try this style too..
well, in a much simpler way.
Justkeep your explosion going, then make little spaces between the lines and then the lines get shorter and shorter while moving a notch upwards.

The smoke suddenly moves down and up while it's disappearing.

I forgot the correct term :V
@kabal: The First try of the newer explosions was good, but the particles disappear in a strange fashion. Do what Upps did.

I find it hard to follow what Upps did, But I'll try.

After I finish some of my projects.
