Now I am thoroughly pissed off with Vista and I'm getting a XP Theme. I downloaded the Blue Luna theme from this (http://www.appleblossomart.net/xpstyles.php) site.

I open the files, and double click on the Theme file. The Theme window opens and lunablue appears in the dropdown box. The problem is, when I clikced OK, nothing changed apart from the fact that my desktop wallpaper has disappeared and now there is a black space with all my icons. So I downloaded another theme called 'BlueFX' I double click on it. Same result. I went to the Themes panel, clicked 'Browse...' and clicked on the theme I wanted. No change. I've gone through 7 pages of tips to make Vista look like XP, and I got completely the opposite of what I wanted/tuts on making Vista look like Windows 2000 (which I don't like), AND 5 pages of theme downloads which weren't even themes or downloads altogether, which adds to my hatred of Google. I don't want to buy another disc of XP because each disc is 250 and they all have serials on them, and no, I'm NOT downloading a keygen.

I want to know, how do I get these Themes to work?

The scheme doesn't appear, even when I double click the Visual Style. The Appearance Setting window comes up but not the scheme I need.

Why would you want Vista to look like XP?

The theme is probably the best thing about vista.

Also, I have no idea.

I ****ing hate the Vista theme. Plus it's lagging my comp. I know this through experience as for a week I was using the Windows classic theme and things were a LOT faster. The problem is, Classic is ugly. There's no colour and it's not very nice to look at.

James, shut up. No wonder you got banned from SFDT.

Anyway, you know it looks like Raffi exhibits a lot of hatred towards anything that doesn't work solely for him. Flash CS3, Vista, Google, etc. You must write a lot of negative reviews on products you bought, then. And you must have a pretty crappy-ass computer because the Vista theme doesn't lag my computer at all. It goes a lot faster than my old PC and my mom's PC (both running XP).

Did you try this website: http://www.liewcf.com/blog/archives/2007/02/make-windows-vista-look-like-xp/

Or maybe you should just go back to XP?

Had it occurred to you that if he's asking this question, maybe he's tried that already? Because I don't know if it had also occurred to you yet, but XP isn't on the market anymore. The only solution would be this guy (http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/pirate-9.jpg), but obviously, due to whatever decision he made, he decided not to.

And reinstalling an operating system is a pain in the ass. It's not like one of your animation softwares where all you had to do was click the executable file, follow 3 prompt pages, and wait 5 minutes, you know.

Dont bitch to me, home boy

I know what you do to reinstall a OS. I have done it about 30 times in 2-3 months. And its not that big of a pain in the ass. And has it occurred to you that he hasn't tried XP? Even though it may not be on the market, there is always ebay. Or even friends who have the XP CD, simply borrow.

I love how every time I make a post that's considered a bit long, the intelligible members here instantly write it off as bitching.

Had it ever occurred to you that just because it's not on the market anymore it doesn't mean he hasn't tried it before? It's not like he just got introduced to computers last year. He had to get a new computer.

And why would he go to the trouble to reinstall an operating system just to use it's theme? That's really unnecessary.

An i love you people like you define them selves as such intellectuals. Maybe he bought Vista and put it on his old Computer. You do know that even the computers that were made for XP CAN run Vista. And XP is an overall better OS than Vista. So it wouldn't be just for the theme. It would be for his joy of computing.

I don't see how what I said sounds like I'm defining myself as an intellectual. All I said is that the people on this forum tend to jump the gun too much when someone posts a lengthy post. Stop jumping to conclusions already.

And you're missing the point. Don't you think if the answer was that obvious, he would have tried that already? Obviously if someone is attempting to get an XP theme for his computer, he's gone through the trouble of trying to revert back to XP? I mean, if the answer seems so obvious to you, don't you think it's already been implemented?

And at any rate, this isn't a debate on which OS is better, so stop bringing that into topic. If you want to debate over which is better, make a poll topic or something.

Aperture

I am not debating about the OS. Switching to XP will probably save him time, and money. Simple as that

Yes, but you're intoducing the "XP > Vista" topic (which it isn't) into the thread when it has no place. If Raffi wanted to hear someone tell him to switch OSs, he wouldn't have made a thread asking how to change the themes. And especially after he's had it so long, don't you think he would've tried that already?

And since when does doing a simple theme switch cost money while switching your OS doesn't? If I'm going on the same logic as you, then just switching the theme will cost no money, and be a much quicker process than switching the OS.

Lolol. Aperture obviously didn't read the first post.

Well, I don't want to downgrade to XP, as it's like 250 for a CD, and I'm not draining myself of 250.

I have to admit, that's true. It's because I have somewhat of a short temper ._.
