View Full Version : The Tutorials Section

If this isn't a suitable announcement then I'll delete it, but this seems to be the most appropriate place to do this.

The tutorials section has now been upgraded. You remember how Mantha sorted out the Pivot Tuts section a few months ago? Well, I thought it looked nicer so I did the Flash and Easytoon sections too. More than half the tuts that were there have now been cleared out, either because they were not tuts, because the links were broken, or because they were aggressively unhelpful. Everything that remains is good and relevant. I've also canned the 'deleted' messages so that even mods can go in without having to pick through a load of clutter.

I'd quite like things to stay this way. That means not posting tuts if you don't think they're going to be good and if you see anything in there that isn't a tutorial or is just plain wrong, report it. You should all know how to do this - it's this button: http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/xx353/Zed31415/Reportbutton.jpg

Secondly, there is now a tutorials index which links to all the best tutorials for all programmes here (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?32381-Tutorial-Index&p=566674). Some of the tuts are on other sites. If you know of any good tutorials not on the list, please point them out. This thread also encompasses a tutorial requests section, so if you feel like making a tut but aren't sure what on, go look there, and if you need a tut but can't find one, ask in that thread.

Lastly, there were a few tuts in there which, to me, looked bad. Not bad enough to be deleted outright, but bad anyway. Not being an easytooner or flasher, I couldn't really judge. If people who know what they're doing want to go through the list and tell me whether they should stay or not, they're here (numbered for easy reference):

1. http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?42-The-Easy-Toon-Tutorial!
2. http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?520-Special-Effects
3. http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?526-A-better-effects-tutorial
4. http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?722-DesertEagle-s-Movement-Tutorial

12. http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?861-Wallz-in-gamez-)

Edit: Oh, and if anyone felt like making an easytoon tut, that would be swell. The section looks bad when it all fits on one page.

Edit2: Updated the list of tuts for judging.

Finally, good tuts. Thank you Zed.
=Flash tutorial number 5 should stay.-It shows you can use the pencil a lot more in animations like that.
=Flash tutorial number 6 should be deleted.-It maybe a good tut about scripting a sniper game but it doesn't work, none the less, it's useless.
=Flash tutorial number 7 should either stay or be deleted- It's hard to choose. It has the codes and it works too but another thing is that there are no step by step actions on what to do.
=Flash tutorial number 8 should be deleted- It's because that's not an explosion. i can't even tell what was that white triangle thing coming out of him.
=Flash tutorial number 9 should be deleted- It's because it's poorly drawn and it's really tiring to draw him like that in every frame.
=Flash tutorial number 10 should stay- It's a great tut for beginners in flash or pivot. Even though it's mostly about pivot, it still has some flash tut's. Like a mini tutorial.
=Flash tutorial number 11 should stay- It's not that great i'll tell you that but it is a great tut for beginners.
=Flash tutorial number 12 should either stay or be deleted- I ain't that good in action scripting
=Flash tutorial number 13 should stay- It's actually not that great but once again good for beginners.
=Flash tutorial number 14 should stay- It's good for those who wants to do fullbody.
That's about it.
