nice work following fraz tutorials.
its a bit jerky and unsmooth, keep practicing

cheers :D yeah id pretty much only just watched it. one thing i have trouble with is smoothness. whenever i put more frames in it always looks too slow. il keep practicing.

twaz ok.
i suppose.

yeah i know :(. anyways i tried to add that falling effect to the one where he pokes te boulder :p, but the end where his leg bounces fails. can someone correct it and show me how to do it (the bit where his leg is up, then drops, then bounces)?

Lol, I swear, every time, you don't make the legs bounce enough. Anyways, you did pretty good, you got all the right movements. Here's a tip on how to make smoother animations. Get easing down really good, use more frames, if it looks too slow, up the frame rate, when you animate and try to be smooth, you are probably doing frames to where it should be 24FPS, the default for pivot 3 beta is 18, so just fool around the FPS until you find a good speed, your animations will be pretty awesome if you do that.

The gun animation, well... It was aight I guess. I like the fact you are trying to move the body back. Thing is though, the legs would also move back a bit. When you start off with gun shots, just use a yellow line, and small lines for the sparks, and the sparks should fly backwards, but, tbh, I don't think med-beginners should really be using guns. Good for first though, I like the attempt with color (or colour, whatevah, I'm American >:[ )

The throwing animation was okay too, I like the floppiness of the arm when he throws his hand back, it added more force to it, which is good. One thing that concerns me though, is that the ball went too slow for that kind of through, that should have been, like one frame it's at the end of the screen, other frame it's gone. The left leg is a bit stiff, and the right foot slides, the rest is pretty good, I like how it's a loop :D

EDIT: This post is my 666th post!

yeah thanks. tbh i just made the gun one as a quickie but decidedd to post it. ive fixed the throwing one, but cant seem to make the back leg better. its waaaaaaaaaaaay too jerky, and if i fix it i screw up something else :

and thanks for the advice! im guna go practice :D

Pretty good, oh and here's an idea, when you are using a horizon and not a ground, here's what you should do, use another ground to keep the feet still, and then just edit the ground out, or, make another ground with a few dynamic lines so you can see the red dots, turn the ground white so you can't see it, and line up the foot with the dots, credz to Faz's mini tut for giving me dat idea :D

A lot better, you unstiffened the left leg well, now you gotta move the feet, lol. You got the ball speed perfectly. I forgot something though. When the guy throws the ball, and his arm stops, you should ease it while it's stopping to not make it look as jerky. Also, I just noticed, the right arm doesn't move back enough and isn't eased well, the right arm almost needs to fly up like he was doing the run I showed you earlier, just more eased of course, I'll try to make an example.

nice one, & i agree
however the defualt .gif speed is 17 fps so there is no point making it quicker than that, becuase you will screw your overall result.

6 is about 16-->17fps.

i find mine ending up to be 17fps, like you said.

Doesn't 3 beta modded save the FPS in .gif, or is that only in the .piv?

hey one question, is there a pivot 3 final out? cuz on the link in the download thread its broke. and is it as good if not better than pivot 2.2.5? im not getting beta cuz its unreliable, but is the final out?

Automaton

just tried my first time to make something in colour. it turned out ok. i dont really like the fade out at the end - the colours clash, and i think it might have been too stiff, but its my first try with colours, and doing anything other tank walk cycles and basic tests etc:

http://www.filecram.com/files/jake.gif

if you think i should continue it, please tell me what else i can do with it :p

piv: http://uploaded.pivothost.org/jrockpunk1/jakeypph.piv

(cuz the fade in/out got gif raped)

Darc

You can't really fade when the stickfigure is over 3 different colors. Not too much movements to say whether to continue or not.

1. Peter Bone wont release Pivot 3, ever.
2. Pivot 2.2.5 is more reliable then pivot 3B, but pivot 3B can hold more backgrounds, which could hold an advantage.
3.Wise Choice
4.The Final version, will never come out

ah ok thanks, and didnt someon make a "better" version of 2.2.5 in the download thread? is it better than 2.2.5 if so?

Darc
04-26-2008, 08:00 AM
Right now, the best version is either pivot 3 beta MODDED or Pivot 2.2.5

Automaton
04-26-2008, 08:03 AM
ah ok. i think ill stick to 2.2.5. i made a couple more last night, but to be honest, i dont really like them (ive made better) :

http://www.filecram.com/files/invisible bullet 2.gif

http://www.filecram.com/files/flop.gif
(gees this one sucks :S)

http://www.filecram.com/files/282ball flow.gif
(imagine it faster, i made more frames and upped the fps.)

The ball one needs more easing, make animations like those heavy spaced, they look a lot better. the first one was exactly like the other one, but with a BG and more bounce on ONE leg, lol. yeah, just keep on workin' ;]

Automaton
04-26-2008, 08:28 AM
ok. by heavy spaced do you mean... ermm... well... what DO you mean?

Darc
04-26-2008, 09:07 AM
The very beginning is normal easing, the crazy movements are heavy spacing, or heavy easing, it's when you move really slow, then suddenly move fast, and ease a lot when it stops.

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5545/spacingzp6.gif

EDIT: The run I showed you was also heavy-spaced.

Automaton
04-26-2008, 09:28 AM
so its the bounce i need to make heavy spaced then? also, just tried something different, and its ok, just needs a little tune up on everything (stiffness, easing) :

http://www.filecram.com/files/flop up.gif

i just realised, ive been doing all these and im not even that good at a simple run or walk :p im guna go practice those now.

Darc
04-26-2008, 09:29 AM
No, heavy space ball animations.

Pretty nice movements, but the jump seemed a bit weird and the arms were stiff, but I like the way you did it.

Automaton
04-26-2008, 09:36 AM
yeah thanks. i dont get you though, do you mean make every animation where a ball moves heavy spaced? (:S sorry if its just me who doesnt get this). and yeah it wasnt really meant to be a jump, it was meant to be one of those... ermm... things where... you know... he throws his arm up and his body follows type of thing? but i think the landing came too fast, and the arms were a bit stiff at the beginning.

Darc
04-26-2008, 09:43 AM
Well, like, if a ball is being thrown, don't heavy spaced, if it's like a soccer animation, you should probably heavy space it, it's really just a style, you don't really have to do it, I think it just better when you heavy space it at the right times. So yeah, heavy space it when you feel it should be heavy spaced.

Automaton
04-26-2008, 10:32 AM
ah i get you. it really depends on the animation. just made a sort of a film trailer maybe? i think its ok. it started off as just a walking to running test, but i decided to make it bettar :D :
