it's called an angled animation, and this was pretty nice.
even if it is just him rocking back and forth

Huh I just kinda lurked on in here.

It's interesting that you're getting into this now.
I think what would look good is some foreshortening.
e.g. gets bigger as it's closer to the camera, as well smaller as it gets further away from the camera.

You can probably skip past the history as well.

If you're going to be working with perspectives allot it's good to do some parallax practices for background elements,
