So based off of Avatar, I'm going to animate around the 4 elements with the staff. Not complete, but I'll be updating it. I might make a minute long short of it or something.

Right now I only have air animated.

OMG THEORY SO BADASS! you know, i have many inspirations but youre my best inspiration!

That's an excellent wind fx. I can also see a little resizing of thz stick, but nothing too important...
You sir are goldy.

Cool Perspective and FX :D
Good Luck on whatever you're doing there.

Theory I love your style so much. Can't wait to see this finished.

07-23-2012, 10:03 AM

that was sweet :) I hope you come back all active and shtuff, love the wind effect, a little stop and go but that's all I see

Nice theory

Good shit as always

07-23-2012, 10:10 AM
Theory you just gave me a little lesson on wind sfx.
And nice animation.

Thanks for the positive feed back guys :]
I updated it a little bit and added the rock bending part.
I learned that I don't know how to animate a swing, nor do I know how to shade in rocks. So it took me a while to experiment with it.

I know it gets choppy towards the end, I'll fix it the next update.

Sorry it wasn't much of an update but I'll try to add more later. I just feel like water is going to be a pain to animate lol

07-24-2012, 01:12 AM
HOLUY SHIT! sir that was awesome

07-24-2012, 09:51 AM
Wow theory. You animate so smooth it's ridiculous. You've been my favorite animator for a while, and this proves that you still have it.

07-24-2012, 10:07 AM
Omg, you took the RHG i wanted to do ;n; Bends with stick

07-24-2012, 10:52 AM
Speaking of RHG, Theory are you ever gonna bring back your RHG (the one with the red balls)? It was sick I loved the demo.

07-24-2012, 11:28 AM
Haha oops sorry tocksique, I didn't know that. You can still make it though, I don't mind.

@jdogg- I don't think I'll be doing a RHG for a while, I'm still determined to finish this short I've been working on since last year (but I went on like a 6 month break).

07-24-2012, 11:34 AM
By "this short" do you mean this staffbender one, or a different one?

07-24-2012, 11:36 AM
A different one. I was planning on submitting it for a contest, but I didn't finish on time.

07-24-2012, 03:57 PM
Your style is so old school, I love it!
I love how you mixed in your style with that 3-d water effect, it looked really nice
other than that I'm too afraid to talk about because im not sure if it's your style, or a habit.

07-24-2012, 04:20 PM
Theory.... Welcome back my good friend. :D

I tried doing how your animations look. Anyways, SO FUCKING SMOOTH and I can't get over the choppiness at the end. ;________;

08-06-2012, 02:16 PM

Sorry for the bump, but I'm not done with this animation yet. I've been busy working on a kickstarter video for a friend. But I just got back to working on this and I can't seem to get the fire right. I tried making it look like the fire from the intro of Legend of Korra, but clearly I failed. C&C on the fire please ;-; I might just scrap the fire I have now and try again later.

so what the hell, you dont animate for like 2 full years and then you animate one time and your just good again? MAKES NO SENCE, but twas awesome yo diggy.

08-06-2012, 03:36 PM
smooth as fuck im liking it so far

08-06-2012, 04:46 PM
Yay Theory you updated it! I've been like stalking this thread lol. I thought you might have quit.
Anyway the pose when he shoots the fire looks kind of odd. It might just be because it only a couple frames, I'll wait for you to add more before I make a final decision. The fire was good, maybe make it glow more but that's somewhat of a style preference. It looked too solid though. Anyway can't wait for water ;) Hopefully it's not to tough. If you need help there's an effects tutorial somewhere, he does a great water blast thing.

Here it is. It's an .fla but I found it really good.

08-06-2012, 04:59 PM
lol thanks for the link. I've been playing around with a new style for fire and this is what I got: http://www.fileize.com/view/9d89c873-56d/
A lot more glow and i think the color seems right :D
The only problem I have is to make it look good on a white background

I think I might fix the pose too, it doesn't seem right..maybe if I add some more easing at the end though.

I think the gradient glow might help. What do you think?

08-06-2012, 05:45 PM
That's really nice. I don't know if you did this on purpose, or will understand what I mean, but it looks more like a controlled fire than an uncontrolled one.

08-06-2012, 06:36 PM
It's really cool seeing you improve ever so slightly throughout the entire animation :D and the fire looks orgasmic of course

stay active now :>
