View Full Version : Some Game Polish Suggestions

1. Telling troops to garrison gets interrupted by nearby enemies. This is extremely frustrating when you want to retreat your dying troops and then on their own they jump straight back into battle.

2. More Hot Keys (maybe make them customizable?)

i. A Hot Key for something like "view castle" or "view tower" or "view enemy" would be very useful instead of having to use your mouse to navigate everywhere.

ii. It would be good if there was some way of ordering all your troops to attack (but excluding hurt ones healing in your castle). Right now you have to order all to attack and then send the hurts ones back into your castle again, which is a very wasteful step. Maybe make space bar only select troops outside the Castle or something like that, and another button for ALL units? I want to be able to make a sustained attack without scrolling back.

iii. hotkeys for selecting specific buildings. I don't want to have to take my eyes off my battle because I have to scroll/click my way back to my castle... then click on a building...then click research...then click back to the battle... It is just inefficient

3. Miners should auto-mine! (with default set to gold). It is so damn unnecessary making it so you have to order miners to do a very simple job.

4. Increase fog of war slightly. This will turn the game into more like chess whilst still keeping the fun parts of mind games alive.

5. Make a lobby for members to chat in (take the best from the armorgames colony flash game for an RTS which is exactly like this but already polished over years).

6. two vs two player? Maybe one statue but two castles per team, but lower troop limit to control increased lag.

7. Better match-making (has already been said).

8. Weekly tournaments? Could have an in game system which organises them automatically.

I'll post more when I have more time.

1. I agree, there's a problem there (although somewhat small)
2. Using the Number Pad with the bottom right options would be perfect
ii. How much do you have to garrison your units? That step isn't too wasteful in my opinion considering the pace of the game.
iii. Never thought of this but it's a good idea
4. The Fog of War is fine to me, you can send an enemy to scout or plan ahead. Knowing too much may cause an army that's obviously going to win to attack early, you never know what your opponent is planning and you have to plan for that lack of knowledge.
5. There's forums, chat at the bottom right, and chat in-game. Although this would be nice, there's not too much use for it unless you're trying to find a friend.
6. Nice game mode idea, that reminded me of an idea for co-op campaign where players were on both sides and the enemy had an encampment in the middle.
7. So far, I haven't been matched with someone much better than my skill level.
8. This game isn't ready for that kind of thing yet, but tournaments are very likely for Stick Empire's future.

1.- Never had that problem, and i use garrison extensively.
2.- The time that takes you to choose any feature is actually part of the balance system, especially if you need to take off your view of the battlefield.
3.- No, its for multitasking, this way you must be aware of more things in order to play effectively, making some stuff automatic is good only for a few marginal scenarios, and this is not the case.
4.- Not really, you can already see the center of the map in the tyniest ones. Dont knowing what the enemy is doing is a vital feature in all competitive games.
5.- AGREE!
6.- AGREE! after all this is just a beta.
7.- So far i have no problem with it.
8.- Games are better suited for tournaments as soon as they are launched (even in beta) because this way people dont know exactly what to do and there is no utter specialization or magic tricks for win spreaded around the internet that every dumb can find, so i strongly AGREE! :)

1. I believe pressing space only selects units outside your castle, but if units are garrisoning and aren't in the castle yet, they can be selected.
2. Yes please :D
3. Probably not. Multi-tasking is important!
4. Do you mean make you see farther or see less? XP
5. Yes
6. Why the hell not? :P
7. Faster matchmaking, or what?
8. Yeah! Prize could be empire points :) Getting all of those top 10 players lining up.

But what I REALLY want is some seasonal or random fight events. Fighting unplayable enemies or something or skirmish mode. :)
