Little is known of the origins of this clan. Whispers are spoken in the darkest slums of society, the ramblings of madmen, speaking of an organization designed for the sole purpose of plunging the world into death and madness. Years have gone by, and though the rumors remain just that, there is still power held within the name. An unspoken darkness still lingers, and those who dare to possess the name risk losing everything...

...but is there something also to be gained?

A lone child, upon finding a decrepit old base past the outskirts of city finds that despite its disrepair, it still has basic utilities as well as rooms. Though the smell of blood hangs somewhat heavy in the air, he takes it upon himself to bring it to a point of habitation. A place of refuge. A home for those without.

This is the Rebirth of the Night Creatures.

To provide a home for those who seek a place to remain true to themselves. Outside guests are allowed, and all are welcome to use the facilities for a fee.

-8/17/2015-
Registers as a Clan Base in order to make proper use of facility as well as give him a location to be found at.

-8/18/2015-
Zalgo joins the clan. (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-Night-Creatures-Rebirth&p=1396993&viewfull=1#post1396993) A surprise, but not an unpleasant one.

-8/18/2015-
Zalgo goes about decorating his room. It's a short process. (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-Night-Creatures-Rebirth&p=1396998&viewfull=1#post1396998)

-8/25/2015-

Leoncio faces defeat, (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?97595-Lobotomizer-(Kalena-quot-The-Absolute-quot-Eirwen)-vs-Azure-(Leoncio-quot-The-Beast-quot-)) and is given much to think about in regards to himself as well as what he truly desires in his life.

-12/12/2015-
Kai Havoc joins the ranks of the creatures. (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-Night-Creatures-Rebirth&p=1422525&viewfull=1#post1422525) He'll hopefully become an asset to the clan's movement.

-2/12/2016-
Zalgo is defeated by Altaer. (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?98749-Lord-Altaer-of-the-Abyss-(Alphaeus)-vs-Zalgo-(Veir)) He doesn't take it very well.

-4/13/2016-
After several months, Leoncio decides to temporarily abandon his position as leader and passes it to Manny Ken, so that he can find ways to better himself as well as ease his mind and troubled spirit. Manny accepts, not really caring all that much.

-4/15/2016-
Manny gets asked to fight a guy. He gets to enjoy himself. (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?99905-Manny-Ken-(Azure)-v-Zhelan-(Lobotomizer))

-6/3/2016-
The Night Creatures have to battle against some crazy Goodie Two-Shoes group. They win... sort of. (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?99876-CLAN-WAR-Night-Creatures-v-The-Coils-of-Nehushtan) It took quite a while though, and by the time everyone gets home, they're all kinda grumpy. Except Zalgo. Zalgo was feeling pretty pleased. Manny wrote him an angry letter then never mailed it. (He mailed it to somebody else.)

-6/15/2016-
Mallory arrives at the Night Creatures HQ and asks if she can live there. Manny doesn't much care and tells her to pick a room. She is elated, and falls down the stairs. Kizu patches her up and helps her clean her room. She is a great addition to the clan.

-6/20/2016-
Kai is kicked from the clan. Manny tells him to try coming back later when he's not such a lazy bum.

-6/23/2016-
Abra joins the clan. He tries to tell Manny he's a fallen angel who had his wings plucked. Manny gives no fucks, letting him join because somebody just got kicked and he doesn't care if the dude's a freak or not. Abra sadly accepts this and immediately gets to having his room decorated to match his... standards.

-7/1/2016-
Abra (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-New-Night-Creatures-Clan-Event-Physicals&p=1459299&viewfull=1#post1459299), Zalgo (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-New-Night-Creatures-Clan-Event-Physicals&p=1460138&viewfull=1#post1460138), Manny, Mizu, and Mallory (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-New-Night-Creatures-Clan-Event-Physicals&p=1460076&viewfull=1#post1460076) take Physicals. Things end poorly for a number of researchers.

-7/9/2016-
Manny, (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-New-Night-Creatures-Combat-Training-Complete&p=1464207&viewfull=1#post1464207) Zalgo, (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-New-Night-Creatures-Combat-Training-Complete&p=1468679&viewfull=1#post1468679) and Abra (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?96623-New-Night-Creatures-Combat-Training-Complete&p=1468789&viewfull=1#post1468789) test themselves in the clan's new and improved Training/Sparring room. They all have some mental issues to look into.

-8/13/2016-
Manny Ken beats up a dummy, and Leoncio returns from his training, (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?101574-Manny-Ken-(Azure)-vs-Fred-(buckethead)) having made massive changes in the few months he'd disappeared.

Leoncio (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?48890-Leoncio-Beast-Reborn) - Clan Leader
A young man who bears the blood of the beast, and who is on the path towards self-realization and true enlightenment. He's grown a lot in his time away from the clan, and has returned to show just what a Night Creature is capable of.
10/2/0/0

Zalgo (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?86416-Zalgo) - Creature of Oil and Madness
An inhuman creature from beyond the stars. A solid Night Creature through and through, who is without doubt the powerhouse of the clan. He's grown during his time in the clan, and it shows in his manipulations of his abilities and interactions with the others.
2/1/0/0

Abra (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?99934-Abra-the-Virtuoso-of-Aces-and-Eights) - Creature of Cards and Trickery
A "creature" who calls himself a fallen angel. Accepted into the clan while Manny was in charge, there may not be more to him than meets the eye. Of course, with his sleights of hand, who can tell?

Allies
Blade Mercenaries (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?95023-Blade-Mercenaries)
An unbiased group of mercenaries looking to simply get the job done. As Shado was one of their members, Leoncio formed a steady alliance with the group.

SkyFire (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?98905-Clan-SkyFire)
A newer clan that, although it's grown remarkably quickly, is still full of inexperienced gladiators. Let's see if we can toughen them up a bit.

Enemies:
Coils of Nehushtan (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?99698-The-Coils-of-Nehushtan)
A group that only believe in their narrow perception of justice. They chose to make the Night Creatures enemies, so we'll return the favor.

This is a clan for those looking to freely be themselves without judgement. If you wish to tryout, contact Leoncio (Azure) for more information on the application process.

Even if you're not a member, you may participate in certain events or use certain clan areas for writings or such. Simply verify here.

http://www.auplod.com/u/dpolau5f66d.png

1. Must complete any activities dictated by the Clan Leader.
2. We may be beasts, but we are not uncivilized. Do not flame, troll, or otherwise harass others.
3. Battling is encouraged. Act on your instincts, and show your inner Night Creature. However, never betray your clan or clan mates.
4. We stick to continuity and canon. If something happens, it will always happen.
5. Inactivity is not an issue, provided the clan and leader are informed.

Disobeying the laws of the clan will result in the removal of the member from the clan. We don't need ferals in our midst.

http://www.auplod.com/u/lpuado5f670.png
The Clan Base is composed of three floors: one above ground, and two subterranean levels.

Top/Ground Floor: The entrance to the base. On this floor, one can find the central room, equipped with a bathroom, a (small) storage area, a kitchen and dining area, and what once may have been a conference room. There is little in the way of furniture currently. A staircase leads to lower floors.

First Subterranean Floor: The floor where the clan members live. Six rooms occupy this floor, with the Clan Leader's room being the largest. Each room has a bathroom and closet equipped, but at the moment, there is not much in the way of furniture in any. A staircase leads to the upper floor and lower floor.

-Leoncio's Room:
Has a twin-sized bed, a desk, and a drawer with a few articles of clothing and mementos from his adventures. Has a tatami pad for meditation.

-Zalgo's Room:
Coated in a pitch black oil shell, Zalgo's room contains but a single throne, formed of the same substance. It is a room of little furnishings.

-Mallory's Room-
Cleaned up until it's spotless, she's currently got a sleeping bag, some posters, and her suitcase of clothes. She's hoping to get some actual furniture in soon, though, she's also hoping to get a job she can keep....

-Abra's Room-
Through heavy construction from several companies, Abra has turned his room into the envy of many (though, none of his clanmates aside from Mallory). The walls have been covered with mahogany planks, and the stone floor with silk carpets. A crystal chandelier hangs from the ceiling, illuminating the room. An oak closet full of clothing and mirrors on the doors, a bookshelf filled with a variety of works, a small table, a plush couch, and a king-sized bed with maroon satin sheets have been added in. Abra has also had WiFi installed.

Second Subterranean Floor: This floor is where the additional clan facilities are located. Here, one can find a gym with new equipment, a sparring/training room with a one-way mirror that was made of very thick, very strong glass protecting a small observation room, a (large) storage room, cold storage, and a fully functioning medical bay with rather good equipment and supplies.

-Gym-
Thanks to some of the money earned from battles, the Gym has been refurbished and fitted with new equipment. Weights of varying sizes, as well as several exercise machines, have been added in, along with a radio and a television. A small area has been adapted for stretches and warm ups, having mats, medicine balls, and other lighter gear.

-Training/Sparring Room-
Thanks to some of the money earned from battles, the Training/Sparring Room has been refurbished and cleaned up, as well as the observation room. With the refurbishing, it has been given new mechanized functions, allowing for self-cleaning, as well as the production of physical holograms of bots, as well as certain gladiators from the wRHG database. Computers within both the room itself as well as the Observation Room allow programming of how these physical holograms behave.

-Medbay-
Thanks to some of the money earned from battles, the Medbay has been refurbished, enlarged, and upgraded. Now with more sophisticated medical equipment, as well as an assortment of drugs and other medical implements, it now has the functionality of a basic hospital, though, a budgeted one. X-rays may be performed, as well as certain surgeries. It now also has an area to preserve corpses, as well as a cremation furnace. It's possible that more than just medicine may be practiced here in the future....

-Library-
A large, strange library that appeared connected to the base by a long library. A lone librarian is here among the massive volumes within. Strangely enough, both ancient and recent books can be found. Those without a library card aren't allowed around, nor allowed to see any books.

http://www.auplod.com/u/apodul60668.png

-Kizu-
Manny Ken's girlfriend, who is a living doll. With smooth porcelain-like skin the color of mocha and a single green eye, she keeps the right half of her face hidden by dirty bandages which hide a gaping hole in her head. She has synthetic black hair in a ponytail halfway down her back, is slim, and wears the tattered remains of a dress that have been stained to a muddy brown over time. She carries around a short spear at all times, and has a personality that is as sharp as her weapon. Though not much of a conversationalist, she has a strange way with words. She also has a strangely deep understanding of medicine, human and animal anatomy, and surgery. She's currently staying in the Medbay.

-Mallory Devin-
A girl who seems to be terrible at everything. Pale skin, thick glasses, and black hair pulled back into twin ponytails, some distinguishing features about her include the two blue-tipped black cat ears sprouting from her head, the blue tipped twin black cat tails sprouting from her lower spine, and her grey-blue cat eyes. Not very tall, she's an eighteen year old girl who wears some pretty plain clothes; typically, a blouse, a skirt, and some thick leggings along with some boots. She likes to carry around a large journal and several pens with her. She's gotten her own room.

-Nora Lee-
She seems to have just shown up. Long silky brown hair tied in a ponytail, small frame glasses, and a strangelt athletic body. Her left arm is covered in tribal tattoos. Often wearing short sweater showing off her stomach (with an amethyst belly ring), booty jean shorts, and combat boots with tube socks, she can often be found with a book. It is seriously unknown where she came from or how she got in the base.

AH so this is what you meant by enemies XD i didn't know you had a clan

also im gonna use your rules thx

Also handy could be in this clan :D but fair warning, there aren't many pure monster characters in wRHG (this is why waffles closed his clan)

Azure

Leoncio isn't a "full monster." This clan just exists for those whose physical appearances and mindsets sets them apart from the rest of society.

You seem awfully interested in getting Waffles to join.... Any reason for that? I'd rather members naturally trickle in of their own accord.

I may not like waffles but I like his character. And I want to see how handy would be in a clan.

Well, I doubt Handyman would fit or even want to join this clan, so that's pretty much gone with the wind. Still, a potential member has shown up, so that's fun news.

So you've brought back your old clan from FA, eh? Are you going to invite your old members?

I dont recall being scared of anyone on here but just for clarification, who exactly?As if I couldn't get anymore blunt, I'll drop this really obvious lie here and hope you'll get the hint.

Oh I dunno...It's definitely Hewitt, Lobotomizer and Waffles.

So you've brought back your old clan from FA, eh? Are you going to invite your old members?

Ruko's gone, Twitch/Firain probably wouldn't be interested anyways, Noc is gone (for good reason) and I sadly can't recall the other two members we had, as they were latecomers, but oh so delightful. Don't even know if they crossed over.

Overall, though, I want people to join of their free will. I won't be doing any invites.

If you're not scared of him, they why don't you go say that to his face then? (Or at least his PM/VM/Skype) He's always open for discussion, regardless of who he talks with.

Everyone's approachable once you get to know them, or at least a better understanding on their stance.

Night Creatures Tryout

Zalgo reached with his senses, his Fraysan consciousness scouring the surrounding area for life. Finding nothing worth noting, he continued forward.

I must be getting close… thought the Fraysan God.

With every step Zalgo took, his affliction searched for a unique lifeform. A rumor that Zalgo had pried from the inhabitants of the city had informed him that a cat-like man was trying to organize a group of beasts. This idea appealed to the God King.

Imagine if this cat-man succeeds! I’ll have a miniature army of fearsome monsters at my disposal within seconds! Then I will have no need to fear anything… Zalgo shuddered at the thought of the recent nightmare. So many hands…

Suddenly his affliction snapped him out of his thoughts by sensing a higher lifeform, much more intelligent than the small animals and insects that he felt all around him.

Yesssss, that must be him…

Zalgo sprung into action, using his advanced physiology to sneak towards the location of the humanoid beast.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The alien crouched in the trees, spying upon a decrepit looking facility.

Definitely a home for the unloved. he chuckled to himself.

He knew that a being lived within, he could sense them several stories below ground. Deftly dropping from the foliage, Zalgo couldn’t help the audible thud the weight of his body made upon the earth. Zalgo calmly approached the entrance to the base, striding within a central room. Upon entering the center of the central chamber, Zalgo reached out with his mind targeting the man-beast beneath him. However instead of ravaging him with horrible images, Zalgo spoke clearly to him.

“Greetings, young monk. I await you in your top most chamber.”

After Zalgo had finished projecting the thought into the man-beast’s mind, he could sense the alarm that grew within him. Zalgo however knelt down and waited for the other to make their way upstairs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A young man with a golden tone to his skin stepped from the stairwell. His green eyes scanned Zalgo’s monstrous form cautiously. The entire time Zalgo was simultaneously scanning his mind.

“Who are you?” the boy shouted out.

Zalgo didn’t open his mouth, preferring to send the message telepathically. “I am Zalgo, a being not of this world.”

“For what purpose have you come here?” the boy continued to query.

“To feel welcomed. To feel at home.” Zalgo withheld a snicker. He sensed what the child wanted to hear, and was glad to oblige the false information.

“You… you wish to become a member?” the boy’s face changed from caution to a confused expression of joy.

“Indeed I do.”

“Well then welcome friend. My name is Leoncio, and I wish to provide a home for any who have no home elsewhere.”

“Thank you Leoncio, I hope to provide help to you and your cause.” Zalgo hoped that this clan would fill quickly. Being nice wasn’t particularly his cup of tea. But if a short time of kindness supplied him with the forces to conquer this planet, then so be it.

Let’s be nice. Thought the God King as the golden boy began showing him the rest of the facility.

Let's see where this gets me.

Azure

I approve. Welcome to the clan, Veir. Zalgo will be welcomed.

So, onto your first task as a member, you'll have to write a story about Zalgo obtaining the necessary things and decorating his room, which will then be added to the Clan's Layout.

Front page updated with Zalgo's information.

So, onto your first task as a member, you'll have to write a story about Zalgo obtaining the necessary things and decorating his room, which will then be added to the Clan's Layout.

After the short tour from Leoncio, Zalgo claimed the first room on the left as his. He entered the humble area noting the decrepit nature of the dwelling.

Decorate he says...

Zalgo's face bloomed outwards and began spilling oil across every surface of the room. After a couple of minutes, the oil hardened covering everything in an iron-hard exoskeleton of darkness. Mentally controlling the oil around him, the God King summoned a single throne in the center of the room and took his seat.

Ahhhh.... Just like home.

So, not really any huge updates. Just added some information in the layout, added a new section for something I hope will be interesting, and other minor tweaks and adjustments here and there. Also, Blade Mercenaries has been added as an ally. Woohoo.

Hey Azure, got room for another character? My wRHG's page is about to be up. look for Kai Havoc: King of Choas
Update: Here's my tryout, It's 846 words
A full moon rested in the sky like a dark impersonation of the sun, flooding the world with its dark rays. It shed a small amount of light on a run-down building that seemed to steal the rays as soon as they reached it.
The building sat alone in a forest clearing, tilted as though the very building itself was slouching. It must have been evicted years ago, and it appeared as though no one had been there for years after that. But looks can be deceiving.
Out of the dense trees surrounding the locale two eyes like blood examined the scenery. The eyes darted back and forth, as if searching for another being among the building. The eyes, finding no one, stepped out into the clearing the rest of the figure being revealed by the moon’s cold gaze. The figure obviously humanoid in design, was not to be that easily recognized as a person. With nine feet of height he would tower over any normal human. His thin body was covered in scars, and his pale skin was exposed through his ripped up t-shirt. He stood confident, almost arrogantly as if nothing in the world could bring him down. He had the appearance of one from the far east, but seemed to emit a feeling of destruction like the world had yet seen.
The figure ran a boney hand through his raven black hair and smirked.

“And I thought there were supposed to be others.”, he chastised himself with his obvious american drawl and age of 19, “Just another fake group of people that are supposed to be ‘different’.”

The young man had been there to investigate the group known as the night creatures to inquire of them his admittance. Word had had it in the city that they could be found here, but the building was nothing as he had hoped. He turned on his heel and began to walk away, when he almost tripped over a boy half his size.
“Where did you come from?”, the young man said with shock and anger, “And whoever you are get out of my way!”.

“Have you come to join?”,the boy asked with a grin on his face.

“Look kid I’m not in the mood for any- wait join what?”, The tall one asked in confusion.

“Why join the night creatures, everyone who comes here does.”,replied the boy.

“How did you know that I-”, the tall one questioned.

“I already told you.”,the boy said with a sigh,”everyone who comes here wants to join.”

Hm...maybe this kid does know something, The elder thought, Maybe he can show me how to find them.

“Alright kid, I’ll join. But only if you’ll show me where the night creatures live.”, said the taller boy with a smirk.

“We live right here!”,said the boy pointing to the shack.

The taller one burst out laughing, a deep somewhat gravelly bellow from the bottom of his lungs.
“Let me get this straight, you and the ‘night creatures’ live here! In this shack! Kid don’t make me laugh harder than I already am!”, let out the amused young man between his great bellows, “go home and tell your little club that I’ll be joining, as soon as cats can talk!”

The boy looked as if he were going to storm off in anger.
“I don’t know why you don’t believe me, and in all this time you still haven’t noticed.”

“Hey kid I’m sorry”, The taller one began “I don’t mean to be a jerk, but I think it’s best for you not to get your hopes up. Cats can’t talk, the night creatures is some kind of game you play with your friends, I don’t know what I was supposed to notice other than the fact that you can’t seem to use your ears-”
For the first time the taller boy seemed to see what he had failed to see before. Looking down at the boy he caught sight of the ears the boy possessed. They were like that of a feline’s, and when the taller boy looked into his eyes of green, he had no doubt that this boy was “different”.
“You really are a cat.”,said the taller boy with shock,”I had heard rumors, but I never really believed that-”

“That there could be others out there like you.”, retorted the boy, ”In any case you do want to join correct?”

The taller boy could only nod.

“Well then, I am the leader Leoncio, If you are going to join you should at least introduce yourself.”

“My name is Kai, Kai Havoc”,said the taller boy regaining his vigor,”And I am ready to join.”

“Well then Kai, let me show you the ropes.”,said the smaller boy starting in the direction of the building.

I wonder what other surprises wait in that building, Kai thought to himself, In any case I won’t find out here.
And with that, he jumped twenty feet to the doors and followed the cat boy into the depths.

So, onto your first task as a member, you'll have to write a story about Zalgo obtaining the necessary things and decorating his room, which will then be added to the Clan's Layout.

so this is what we would do next?

Kai Havoc has been officially added to the Clan Roster. Will update Clan History properly soon(hopefully), and with the coming of summer, will be more active in these parts. As I understand it, there's new meat to play with.

So! nightshademalice has been gone for some time now, and as he hasn't responded to my PM, I'll have no choice but to kick him from the clan for now. Considering he never actually designed his room, either, he's not got much to kick out with him. Night Creatures is back down to having 2 official members.

Edit: I'll also be updating the NC Timeline some time in the near future when the date of the clan war is actually set in stone a bit.

Hehe, brother, you've got some bad-ass clanmates (in both of your clans) who would probably step in on that note. Secondly, The Coils and NCclan are probably going to end up as allies, meaning that Abra wouldn't have Clan Consent for doing that. Not that it would stop him, but....

“Physicals?” Abra looked up from his book, uncrossing his legs as he sat up from his couch. “I didn’t know we had to do such things.”

Manny shrugged, “Not my call, it’s the organization’s so step to it. If you don’t comply, you can say good bye to this clan because there won’t be one anymore.” He walked out without another word and Abra sighed in anguish. He put a golden leaf as a bookmark and made his way out of the hideout. He blinked as he stepped out into the sunlight, stretching as he relaxed in its warm glow and then set out to the wRHG offices.

He was quickly ushered off into a room where he was asked to strip down so that they could check his weight, body fat, blood, heart rate, all the usual. When asked about the two gashes on his back, the nurses staring in horror at the charred ribs and black flesh, flayed and rough he simply giggled, “What one does in the name of art.”

As he reached to put his suit back on a doctor stayed his hand. “Sir we need you to put on training clothes and take more exams.” He gestured to a rack where hung skin-tight grey clothing, a t-shirt and pair of pants, as well as shoes.

“If you think I’m going to wear that, then I’ll have to question where you got your doctor’s degree.” Abra looked at the man. “Because you would have to be the stupidest man alive to believe I would wear something as disgusting as that.” With that said, he pushed the doctor back and put his suit on. “Now guide me to these little tests of yours.” The man scrambled for the door and Abra followed him out onto the training grounds.

The first was an obstacle course and Abra looked at all the things he had to bypass. It was comical what they were making him face off; swinging axes, flame traps, water with vicious creatures in it, a rock wall, monkey bars, the list went on and on. The man walked forward, traversing the traps with the help of his cards. He simply used them as a platform so he never actually had to touch any of the pressure plates, water, or ground itself. When he got to a spot he needed to climb or crawl through, he simply teleported to the next destination, ignoring the spectators’ complaints. He hit the buzzer at the end and smiled at the green checkmark that appeared on the board under his name.

The next was a strength test and he stared at the barbell they put in front of him, two guards flanked him and the doctor asked. “How much weight would you like them to put on?”

Abra stared at him in derision, “Seriously where did you get your doctorate from? Why would I do something as barbaric and savage as lift this?” The man sputtered as he tried to formulate an answer and Abra simply left the man there, not caring that a blaring red x appeared next to the green checkmark.

The final test was a test on his eyesight and accuracy as they directed him to a shooting gallery. The rules were simple, don’t shoot the hostages and kill as many bad guys as you could. When offered a selection of weapons he waved off the racks of bows and guns. “I have my own thank you.” He pulled out a deck of playing cards from his pockets and hit the buzzer to begin the test. As cardboard cut outs began rising out of the ground, cards began floating off the deck, Abra doing nothing but holding it out in front of him, his hand open and palm up. He stared at his targets, absorbing the layout before him before releasing the cards. They shot through the air like bullets, slicing through the cut-outs’ necks. Soon the test ended and he was awarded with 100% accuracy and no hostages killed. He pocketed what remained of his deck and looked to see another green checkmark appear under his name. Two out of three, but it was sufficient enough to pass and he walked out with a shrug.

Later that day he looked at his day’s work. The man was sitting in a chair, each hand crammed into the respective eye socket, his thumbs sticking outwards. The head lacked teeth and tongue, and in its place sat a silver spoon. His legs were crossed to the point that they were practically tied together. However, the most audacious detail about the piece was that the doctor’s head was poking out of his ass. Abra signed his name on the card and dropped it on the floor.

Alrighty then! As I've got my main wRHG, Manny, his girlfriend, Mizu, and the secretary, Mallory, I've technically got 3 parts to do for this weekly. So, I'll be doing those three parts right now!

Manny looked around the facility, annoyed. "Seriously, I'm a goddamn mannequin. Why the hell do I need to take a physical?" He was bare-ass naked, not even allowed to have his pickaxe as two researchers examined his body. The male researcher moved away to write something on his notepad, before answering.

"Just because you're a mannequin, Mr. Ken, doesn't mean that you're able to simply avoid this examination. The purpose of these physicals is to get a proper evaluation of the physical conditions of each gladiator registered within the RHG Foundation's databanks. For that reason, we obviously need to see just how capable you are. Even gladiators such as the Suicide Sisters, who are undead, require such examinations."

Manny rolls his eyes. "Whatever. Can I get my clothes back soon? I may not have a dick or ass crack for you jackwipes to go probing, but that don't mean I like being in the buff for extended periods." More writing. "If you try turning this physical into a psych evaluation, I can promise you, you're going to need a physical, of the therapy variety."

"Understood. I believe we have all we need for now. You'll be required to wear some clothing provided by our facility for now, though you'll be allowed your pickaxe again. You'll find them by the exit, and the door to the first exam will open once you're dressed. The tests will go without a break, and you must pass at least two of the three to be cleared for this examination."

Manny grumbles as he heads off. "Once I'm done, I'm gonna need to relieve some stress..."

~~~~~
The first test appeared to be a stamina one. The room appeared to be a giant treadmill, with a timer at the top set for two hours. Manny groaned. "Oh my god, you fucking assholes. How long is this shit going to take, all goddamn day?" He gets no response. Rather than fight it, he instead simply moved to the center of the testing area, and waited. The ground beneath him began to move, so he moved along with it, adjusting his pace to match the rising speed. Once it reached twenty miles per hour, the timer in the ceiling began ticking down. Manny rolled his eyes. If this was how his day was going to go, then he'd need to relieve more stress than he'd originally assumed. The time ticked by slowly, slowly, ever so slowly. He was convinced that the researchers were actually making it pass by slower to keep him there longer, just so they could get more data. Eventually, the timer reached zero, and a green check appeared in place of the numbers. A voice comes over the intercom:
"Please proceed to the next examination room." A door slides open, and Manny heads through it. The next exam seemed to be one of agility and acrobatics. It was a sort of obstacle course, though a good deal of the obstacles looked... rather lethal. And yet, somehow, they still seemed much too tame. There wasn't much chance Manny was going to feel much better going through this exam. "You have two hours to complete the exam. If the time expires, then you fail."
"Piss off," Manny told them, holding up a middle finger as he watched the numbers begin to tick down. He rolled his eyes and got to it. The course seemed to rely quite a deal on him using his pickaxe to propel himself, and his ability to contort his body as he liked. He didn't much care for the fact they had flamethrowers thrown in there as well, as it just seemed a dick move to slow him down. Still, he finished the course in a little over an hour, hitting the big red button at the end. Another green check appears in the timer.
"Proceed to the last examination room to complete your physical." Once more, a door opens, and Manny goes through it. Inside was a dome-shaped room, completely white, with a single camera staring down at him from above. The puppet man looked around, confused.
"So, uh, it's not exactly super obvious what this last exam is. Think you guys can get to explaining?" As soon as he asks, holes appear all throughout the dome in uniform fashion. He looks around, even more confused now. "Um, that's not really much of an explanation."
"This is a resilience test. To pass, simply stay alive. Or, whatever you consider yourself."
And with that, the unseen guns opened fire. Bullets tore through Manny's body from all angles, nowhere safe, his body ripped apart from the raw salvo. After an hour, the bullets stopped, Manny's body in tatters on the floor. Silence filled the once deafening room, until slowly but surely, a finger managed to make its way into Manny's pouch which had somehow managed to remain mostly intact. Beginning with the rest of his hand, Manny slowly began rebuilding himself, putting himself back together until he was once more whole. Above a hidden door, a green checkmark appears, the door opening.
"You've passed. You may now leave, Mr. Ken. Your clothes are by the exit."
Manny looked to the camera, his expression unreadable. Slowly, he left the room; however, he didn't immediately head for the exit. Instead, he went to go have a nice long conversation with the Head Researcher for the facility....
...when Manny left the room, he made sure that the medical team had been alerted. When they arrived on the scene, the Head Researcher was, to put it kindly, little more than a bloody pile of meat. Still breathing, the bones had been broken in all of his limbs, slowly and meticulously. Bruises lined his body, as though he'd been struck repeatedly with a somewhat soft object, though the damage built up. His face was a mess, almost all of his teeth knocked out, his eyes swollen shut, a large patch of hair forcefully torn free with part of his scalp and shoved down his throat, and his right ear torn off.
Manny could be seen walking away from the facility with a big grin on his face. "Man, it's always good to relieve stress in a productive way."
Mizu didn't exactly play well when the researchers attempted to examine her body. In her own words, "If they tried to touch her, they'd find their hands no longer connected to their wrists." The threat did not go unheeded, as she demonstrated rather clearly how serious she was by removing an intern's hand and slicing it in midair, separating each of the bones with nary an unneeded movement. Directing her towards the examination area, the doctors gave Mizu a considerably wide berth, fearful of meeting her ire.
For the first examination of her physical, Mizu was asked to face off against three synthetic humanoids given data from different gladiators, in order to assist her combat prowess, despite not being a gladiator herself. The synths calmly moved for her, surrounding her and taking positions so as to take advantage of her blindspots. Mizu gave no display of concern, nor fear, simply awaiting their first action.
Seeking to gain insight into her style of combat, the synth behind her, the one least visible from her position, moved to strike her with a dagger, his aim her lower back. As soon as he took the second step, Mizu's spear found itself piercing through his cranium's vertical plate. The spear pulls back, piercing his head once more, this time through the maxilla bone, piercing clear through the back of his head. Mizu calmly turns, pulling her spear free. "Physical structure and integrity roughly thirty-seven percent harder than the average adult human male's, though reaction time seems to be about on par. No increased sensory capability, but heightened strategy and likely combat prowess." She turns to the other two. "Will execute the remaining enemies within a minute and twelve seconds."
Without saying another word, she lunges for the second synth's eye. It moves, anticipating the attack, though it appears to fail to realize how dangerous this action was, as it drastically changed the synth's position, placing it before its comrade. Twisting her body in an invisible motion, Mizu plunges her spear through both their abdomens, pinning the two against the wall. Taking no time, she moves to the first, taking his head in hand, where she severs its connection to its neck, tossing it aside. She looks to the next one, which attempts to free itself futilely before it meets the same fate.
Removing her spear, she moved on to the next examination, the intercom silent. A green checkmark appeared, nonetheless. The next exam was a strength test, a simple exam where she simply had to strike a machine to test the strength held within her small frame. Mizu seemed to glare at it. It seemed that a gladiator was expected to have strikes near that of a boxer, needing a psi measurement of at least fifteen hundred. Mizu calmly positioned herself, and struck the machine, her punch registering at eighteen hundred. A green check mark appeared, clearing her for this portion of the exam. Before she left, however, she pierced the machine with her spear, not checking to see how it measured before it stopped functioning. The researchers, however, had a clear view: fifty-four hundred, over two and a half tons of force.
The last exam was one of balance. Mizu was simply required to cross over a large chasm by jumping across bamboo shoots. If she fell, she'd be caught by a net and fail the test, though she'd already essentially passed the physical. The last exam took her next to time at all to complete. She received her last checkmark, and like that, she was allowed to leave. Without wasting any more of her time, Mizu made her way back to the Night Creatures HQ.
Mallory really didn't enjoy the stipping down portion of the exam. She'd been raised to be celibate, and being seen naked... it just felt gross and wrong. As though her chastity were being put into question. It was fortunate that female nurses were there in order to ensure that her purity was protected to some extent; however, there was still the unease in her stomach from the camera in the room's corner. "Not many people will see this, right?" she asked. One of the women nodded in confirmation.
"No dear, few people will see any of this. It's purely a safety precaution, you understand. We should be just about done now. We'll provide you with some clothing to complete your exams, then you'll be able to pick up your own clothes before you leave." They set the clothing in a pile to her side and leave so that she can get dressed, before a separate door opens, prompting her to the examination area. Her first exam seemed to be a simple cardio exam. There was a treadmill set in place, as well as a bottle of water in case she started to get dehydrated.
"Good day, Miss... Devin, correct? For your first exam, you'll be required to maintain a speed of ten miles per hour for an hour. Failure to do so will result in you failing the exam." Mallory puffed up her chest, heading over to the treadmill. She was sure she could handle this exam. After all, the shoes they gave had no laces, so it was highly unlikely she'd end up tripping on anything. Getting on, she started up the machine and began to jog. It wasn't long before she reached the necessary speed, and a timer dropped down to show her how long she had left. Keeping up a decent pace, she managed to just pass the exam, scraping by near the end of the exam. Once she passed with the green checkmark, she grabbed the bottle of water, downing it in an instant, then coughing from drinking too fast. "You, uh, you can proceed to the next exam."
It took a bit, but Mallory headed for the next exam, a reaction test. A pitching machine sat on one side of the room, behind a black line on the floor. A baseball mitt lay on a small white table, with instructions on the wall for her to put it on. Mallory does such, wondering if she'll be able to pass this exam. She'd never had particularly good reflexes...
"This test is simple. We will fire thirty balls at random in your direction. To pass, you must catch at least half of them. Begin." Tennis balls begin firing out, and Mallory scrambles to catch them. By the end of the exam, she had caught a whopping total of six. A red x appears over the door. "Sorry, but you've failed this exam. You'll need to pass the next one, or else you'll be removed from the Night Creatures HQ."
"But I'm not even a gladiator," Mallory complains to herself. Still, she heads through the door to the next exam, hoping it's something simple.
"Your final exam will be a simple obstacle course. Climb up the rock wall, crawl through the tunnel, and swing across the ropes to the exit. You have one hour." Mallory looked over the obstacle course and gulped. She was still feeling exhausted from the previous two exams. Still, she had to pass this. She had other options in this matter; she couldn't lose this job. Mustering her courage, she began to climb. It was slow going, as she hadn't considerably upper body strength, but she managed it in twenty minutes. Once at the top, she took a quick breather, resting her arms for the challenges ahead.
The tunnel wasn't particularly long, but it was certainly cramped, making it difficult for her to wiggle her way through. With the time from her break compounded on, she had a little less than half an hour left to finish her trial, and she still had to swing across five different ropes. She prayed that her arms would be able to hold out. Taking a deep breath, Mallory leapt forward...
After the exam, she sighed in relief. It had never occurred to her that she might have a fear of heights. Certainly something to think about in the future. Her tails swished happily as she got dressed in her own clothes again, and she skipped all the way back home.
Zalgo stood alone in his test room. A large cube of reinforced metal outfitted with a speaker system so that the men watching him could communicate. Manny had informed him that he absolutely had to participate in these null and meaningless exams or risk the clan losing support.
So he was here. The speakers crackled alive, a meek male voice filtering through.
“Uhm. Hello! So as an alien being we know almost nothing about the true extent of your abilities. Having said this your exam will be unrestricted. This means you can use your powers! But we’re sorry to say the difficulty of your exam will be raised, including the lethality. But we believe you’ll be fine. Anyways, let’s proceed!”
The speakers died off, replaced with a mechanical whirring as metallic squares flipped open out of the floor and walls. Machine gun turrets rose from the new openings, their barrels training themselves on the alien king.
Zalgo opened two mouths on his shoulders, oil already flooding out of the new orifices. Bullets exploded out of the turrets. The alien rushed his oil into the shape of a wall, but he wasn’t quick enough to block every round. A bullet slammed against his right arm, his body rotating with the impact. His skin remained intact, the oil threaded through his body making him nearly bullet proof.
His oil spread out quickly, wrapping around the base of the turrets and rotating quickly, sawing through the metal. The turrets sputtered off as they fell apart one by one. The alien sealed the mouths on his shoulders, instead reaching out with his affliction to find the location of his instructors.
The speakers sputtered back to life. “W-well good job! Next we’re going to try something sort of archaic. We’re going to send in a basic strength test system for you!”
The door Zalgo had came through originally sprung open as they rolled in a tall festival toy. The contraption had a weight attached to the bottom of a pole with a bell at the top. One of the men rolling the festivity was holding a mallet. They left the thing in front of Zalgo, the man anxiously handing the mallet to the tall alien before they both sprinted out of the room.
Zalgo looked at the ‘test’ and eyed the mallet. He opened up the orifice on his hand, coating the hammer in oil. He increased the size nearly three times as much, coating the ‘weapon’ in layer after layer of iron-hard liquid. He raised the now massive blunt object and slammed it home onto the weight. The entire thing shattered under the mass of the weapon as the object at the bottom of the pole shot upwards at an unbelievable speed. It hit the bell, the ding satisfying the alien king.
Zalgo locked onto every living being in the facility. He had tired of these silly games. Releasing his affliction, the godking walked out the door. He made his way through the facility, men rolling on the ground, clawing at their faces and screaming. They were cowards.
The alien approached the door of the facility leader, entering his office where the man had been watching him through security camera. He was a thin man, a white coat placed over his frail frame. Splotches of white frizzy hair covering some areas of his balding head.
Zalgo released his affliction from the man who immediately ceased his writhing.
”Hello.” Zalgo messaged him mentally.
“Oh G-God! Pl-please! Please don’t kill me!”
”I just want the recordings of my exams. I will leave after I acquire them.”
“Y-yes! Yes of course! It’s your property afterall! Videos of you!” the man scrambled, rambling as he gave Zalgo the flash drive that the recordings had been saved on.
’Thank you. Isn’t it nice when your species becomes civil?” Zalgo turned from the man. His affliction returning, forcing the weakling to face his worst fears once more. The alien opened up the mouths on the bottoms of his feet, oil flowing outwards, carrying him forward and towards the Night Creature’s HQ.
He knew the man lied, that he kept some of the footage. He released his affliction from all but him, breaking the man mentally. Once under his control Zalgo forced him to grab a pencil and jab the writing instrument into his throat, over and over until he perished. It was merciful, compared to what he wanted to do. But he was just doing his job.
Zalgo briefly wondered if there were going to be repercussions for his actions. If his mental assault and theft would come back on the clan. Manny would no doubt be upset if something like this was to occur. No matter. If the puppet dared to question him then he would show him what a real leader looked like.
’Thank you. Isn’t it nice when your species becomes civil?” Zalgo turned from the man. His affliction returning, forcing the weakling to face his worst fears once more. The alien opened up the mouths on the bottoms of his feet, oil flowing outwards, carrying him forward and towards the Night Creature’s HQ.
He knew the man lied, that he kept some of the footage. He released his affliction from all but him, breaking the man mentally. Once under his control Zalgo forced him to grab a pencil and jab the writing instrument into his throat, over and over until he perished. It was merciful, compared to what he wanted to do. But he was just doing his job.
Zalgo briefly wondered if there were going to be repercussions for his actions. If his mental assault and theft would come back on the clan. Manny would no doubt be upset if something like this was to occur. No matter. If the puppet dared to question him then he would show him what a real leader looked like.
These poor examiners keep getting killed in excessively brutal ways. I bet they make bank tho.
So, a couple of announcements to make:
Event Extension
So, this one is probably the most obvious, but it still needs to get stated. The Clan Event is going to be extended past the three weeks initially projected to being whenever members can complete it. It's a pretty ambitious event in general, and we've all had things to deal with so we can't dedicate time to writing so easily. So, don't worry too much about deadlines, it'll be ongoing until we all get it done. The events are meant to be fun prompts that are challenging, not chains or hassles. Just makes it a drag.
Return of Leoncio
This is gonna be an interesting one. After the clan event concludes (for me at least), I'll be accepting one more challenge before retiring Manny as a gladiator and bringing back Leoncio. For those who don't know or don't recall, Leoncio "left" after his previous defeat and a scolding by Manny, so that he could go on a journey of self-discovery and realization to become not only a better person, but a better leader. Manny was my wRHG in the meantime for both timeline reasons and because I couldn't just go leaving the clan without a leader and myself without somebody to fight with. So yeah, Manny's gonna go back to being a bum and Leo is going to come back for a time. Don't expect him too long, however, as in true Night Creatures fashion, leadership can pass by quite easily.
Clan HQ Restructuring
There will be a redesign of the Night Creatures base. Not exactly an overhaul, more like an upgrade and expansion, to create a more welcoming vibe. This will come around along the same time as Leo's return, and due to the changes in Leo, the Night Creatures policy itself will change to an extent. This will allow more diversity in clan membership, as well as allow for... public visitations? An example of such will be the allowance of those outside the clan to use the Training Room in the facility, which works more or less like a combat holodeck (the basis of our current clan event). So that'll be a thing.
That more or less sums up the announcements for the clan at the moment, should be fun times.
Looking forward to what's coming!
"Ok Mallory, you finally get the controls down?" Manny looked through the window towards the Control Room where the cat girl looked over the controls from behind her prescription glasses. Her ears pressed against her head as she frowned, still feeling utterly confused with the console's functions, despite the multiple explanations. There were a lot of buttons, levers, dials, screens. With a sigh, she gives a nod.
"Yeah... yeah, I think I've got it. Though, can we please just go with normal settings? I don't think I can make any adjustments to things yet." Manny rolled his eyes, groaning. It wasn't a huge problem, but it was still annoying. He'd have to see if Kizu could explain things to the girl better when he was done. She did have a better time when it came to making things understandable.
"Fine, fine. So, since we're going with basic programming, I'm gonna take on two opponents, one after the other. Still have their names up there?" Mallory gives a quick nod. Manny smiles. "Good. It'll be fun to test out this new trick, and I ain't going around digging for any of the older blokes. Too bothersome. So, I guess bring up Mr. Sunshine first." Mallory nods, and begins pressing away at buttons, before typing things in.
As she works, a skeletal robotic figure appears in the center of the room across from the puppet. Manny leans against his pickaxe, waiting. He'd long since stopped questioning the technological prowess the RHG Foundation wielded. It was the type of thing that could only result in headaches and questions without answers. Slowly, an outline formed about the false machine, fleshing itself out and filling itself in until what remained was an armored figure who looked to be straight from somebody's DnD wet dream. Sitting in the warrior's right hand was a sword, a hand-and-a-half blade that shone with a dull light. The dulled silver armor spoke of a past that had a mission, a failed mission, and a corrupted legacy.
"Light, some undead warrior with magical light abilities. Despite the nature of your magic seeming like it'd be elemental, it's typically more of a 'holy' deal, meaning it should be subject to the rules of magic, or unnatural energy." Manny kicks up his pickaxe, spinning it before letting it fall to his shoulder. "Ya know, we've got quite a bit in common, really. But hey, that's neither here nor there. Sorry that I don't really care much for asking your personality be put in this thing or your voice. All I'm interested in is some fun fighting."
The False Light seems to jolt to life, and beneath its darkened helm burn two fierce blue lights. It seemed something about Manny set him on edge, as the first thing he did was raise his weapon towards him. Manny grinned, pointing his pickaxe in the same manner, in jest. Light would have none of that. Placing his right foot firmly upon the ground, he rushed forward, his sword lowered towards the ground behind him in what would likely be a wide arcing swing. Manny snickered to himself, holding his ground. This wouldn't be that difficult an opponent, especially not for him. All this was, was a test. The sword swung forward at an angle, False Light easily cleaving Manny in twain. The upper half of his torso was sent flying skyward, his legs and a good deal of his abdomen collapsing to the floor.
False Light seemed suspicious at the ease in which he'd bested his foe, when Manny's torso fell upon him, the puppet taking placing him in a futile chokehold that kept him anchored to the synthetic undead. The False Light brought his empty gauntlet up to try and rip Manny off, but to no avail, and because of the position, his sword wouldn't reach proper. A strange thing began to occur; light gathered about him, slowly covering his armor in a golden glow. With an inaudible grunt, he released an explosion of light magic from his entire form, seeking to dispel Manny...
...only for Manny to chuckle. "Heh, seems as long as I'm in contact with you, you can't fully manifest the magic. At least, not where I'm touching. This also verifies that the Foundation can somehow get these holograms to use legit magic." Dark glee fills Manny's eyes as he brings up his weapon. "Thanks for letting me know about this. You've outlived your usefulness." With a quick smash, he brought it down into the undead's skill through the slats of the helm, the point reaching in a good deal before it became too thick to fit in. The damage was enough, however. The False Light stopped moving, falling over, forcing the weapon in even further. Manny waves to Mallory, and the hologram fades away. He takes a moment to repair himself, moving his legs about and making sure he hadn't gone and made anything lopsided on accident.
"Should I start the next one, or would you like a break?" Mallory asks, looking a bit shaken from Manny's short fight. Manny spins his finger about.
"Yeah, bring in the dark guy. Wanna see if there's any particular strength limits to this, so if you could, can you try to crank his magic up a bit and make him use it more frequently?" Mallory pouts.
"I thought we were just doing them normal?"
"Fine, fine, whatever. I'll just try to pressure him into it." He watched as another robotic frame formed, the process beginning anew, though this time, it took the program restructuring itself to appear as Nox, somebody who was something called an "Umbraic." Manny shook his head, smiling. "Man, it would've been fun to fight you for real as well. Having two souls in that body? Would've been crazy."
Just as before, the False Nox seemed to jolt to awareness. It regarded Manny with cold, lifeless black eyes. He brought up his hand, a scythe forming in his grasp, a lantern hanging from it. Despite the flame flickering within its casing, it seemed to radiate darkness. Manny stretched, lightly tapping his pickaxe on his shoulder. As if testing the waters, False Nox fired some form of bolt from his lantern. The white projectile slammed into Manny's chest, dissipating on contact. He didn't even seem to budge.
"Pfft, this makes my life almost too easy," the puppet jokes, twirling his weapon. "Maybe try to give it some more oomph?"
The False Nox glared. Twirling his own weapon, dark bolts began to shoot forth, smacking into Manny with no noticeable effect. Manny continues chuckling to himself as he starts moving forward. False Nox dropped the assault, moving to instead slash at Manny with his wicked blade. It was almost effortlessly parried aside, Manny's pickaxe finding itself buried in the solid hologram's skull from the bottom of its jaw. Fake blood slowly trickled out, a look of shock on the program's face. Without a sound, it disappeared. Manny looked to Mallory.
"Well, that stopped being fun. Scythes can be dangerous weapons, but I can tell he was unnerved his attacks had no effect. Made him turn sloppy, and you can't be sloppy with polearms. Once I got within his range, he could no longer effectively attack. Considering I wasn't holding back in the slightest, I just had to go for the killing blow." Manny sighs, sitting down. "These things do feel close to real fighters, but it seems something is missing. An urgency to survive proper. Maybe it's because you're still new to the controls."
Mallory shakes her head, looking as though she had just witnessed something truly gruesome. "How could you so easily do that? I mean, I know it's just a simulation, but it looks so real, and you really got cut in half earlier." Manny just shrugs.
"The only reason I was made was to kill somebody. I've been wandering around without any real meaning for years now. All I know is fighting; it's all I was made for. My creator didn't really program me to do anything after the fact of my mission, and he didn't set me to die. So all I've got now is violence and Kizu. If I go out, the only way I'll go out is fighting, and seems that somehow, whatever my master used to make me is changing." He smiles a sad smile, laughing to himself.
"If I could, I think I'd like to kill myself."
This took me longer than I care to admit. It could be a lot better but honestly I'm just kinda frustrated with it lmao.
A cacophony of cracking and clicking bones assaulted Zalgo’s hearing. His vision was obscured by nothing but swirling darkness, much like his oil, yet not. He reached out with his mind for any life nearby, only to discover he was surrounded entirely by one sentient mind, and it was vastly intelligent.
Zalgo awoke with a start. He scanned his room swiftly, looking for any threats. He was met with his oil-coated walls and cocoon. He had never had nightmares before coming to this world. Now, he was assaulted with them daily.
A premonition perhaps? he thought to himself.
Passively scanning for his allies, he sensed Manny in the training room. Lost in thought, he made his way towards his leader. Upon entering the training facility, he was greeted by the mannequin who was sitting inside of an observation room. He pressed a button it seemed and spoke to him through an intercom.
“Hey there big guy. Those boys down at the wRHG H.Q. sent us some fun stuff to toy around with. Now we can fight whoever we want whenever we want! It’ll be some kind of physical hologram, but it’ll be anyone in the wRHG databanks. Even ourselves. So I’ve made it a clan requirement for everyone to get their asses in here and give this thing a test. So, who’ll it be?”
Zalgo’s first thought went to Manny himself. An exercise to see who would win between the two would be entertaining. However his mind drifted back to his dream.
”Manny, is there anyone who can affect dreams? Someone who clicks a lot, perhaps breaking their own bones in the process?”
“Christ, what kind of dreams you been having?” Manny shakes his head a bit before pressing some keys on the newly installed training module. “Yeah there’s one guy. Wanna give him a go?”
Zalgo didn’t answer, instead placing himself on the opposite end of the room and spewing oil of arms. He stared dead-set towards the holo-pad from which the bot would be summoned. The machine began whirring to life as Manny keyed in whatever operations he needed. Rings floated up around the pad, red beams tracing out to artificially create the opponent Zalgo requested.
Black flesh appeared, creating hands on the ground, which grew into arms leading towards the torso. However the proportions were all off. The shoulders were made, with more arms sprouting from them. These arms were much larger than the ones it used for legs, more or less resembling tree trunks. Finally the hologram finished its construction with the monster’s head. Lifeless eyes stared at Zalgo, the creature’s mouth cracked with the movement of its… teeth?
Zalgo stepped back, unnerved by the strangeness of the creature. The bot did not hesitate, charging instantly. Zalgo summoned the oil around him and created a wall between himself and the creature. The oil, as hard as iron, could withstand nearly any attack. The monster ripped through the defenses like they were paper. It grabbed Zalgo’s arm, crushing it in the thing’s intense grip. Commanding his blood, Zalgo wrapped the thing’s wrist in oil, producing spikes out of the tendrils gripping the monster’s hand.
The thing seemed to register no pain, its head vibrating softly. Willing his oil onward, Zalgo begun spinning the spiked tendrils. The oil sawed through the thing’s wrist, the massive hand still gripping Zalgo’s crushed arm. The alien commanded his oil to rush forward, slamming into the monster’s chest and carrying it to the other end of the room. Transforming into a spike mid-charge, it impaled the horrid thing on the other side.
Unable to move his right arm, Zalgo watched in horror as the thing ripped itself free of the massive spike and began to regenerate all the damage he had done to it.
”Manny… stop the test.” an unfamiliar feeling crept into Zalgo’s mind as he spoke the words.
The monster looked up towards Zalgo, its head vibrating harder than before. Its mouth clicking and cracking just as the noises he heard in his dreams. This was the creature plaguing his nightmares.
“Stop the test Manny!” Zalgo roared as he summoned more oil from his body, throwing it at the monster in a desperate attempt to keep it away.
The creature ran for him, like a broken gorilla charging an intruder. It ignored all of his attacks, letting the oil rip away large chunks of its body just to regenerate it. It leapt forward, hands outstretched, ready to rend Zalgo limb from limb. Suddenly, it stopped in mid-air and dissipated into nothingness.
“Holy shit. What was that thing?” Manny stated from the observation room. “It’s name is Handyman? I guess that sounds about right considering it’s made of fucking hands.”
Zalgo didn’t respond, instead rushing himself back to his room. He looked at his cocoon, knowing it would heal him. However, inside he would also sleep. If he slept he would dream, and he would dream of it. Seeing no choice, Zalgo entered his cocoon. He feared what would occur next as he enclosed himself in darkness.
see now: handy is now a troll.
Regardless, its at least 102x better then what I can do on my best day.
And while I may not be:
a)the best scale to measure talent
b) a member of your clan
I think that this is well written.
Handy at his full self isn't Handy starving. His full self is an ancient, immense thing, and it's left out of his regular wRHG self because it is beyond OP and I've not actually figured what it would be useful for in a story. Starving Handy's purpose is to be a looming threat toward Handy, the reason why he hunts. As of now, 'Full Handy' is... reserved for Zalgo. And even then, it won't show much. I wonder if people are interested in 'Full Handy'.
“Hey we have an event.” Manny stood in front of the door and Abra looked up. “Get up, you’ll like this one.”
“Thank you, but I respectfully decline. I doubt I will.” Abra looked back down at his book.
“Weren’t you reading that book last time I came to get you for the physical? You read slow.” Manny crossed his arms and simply gazed at the man lounging on the couch.
“Actually since then, I read my entire collection of books. I am simply now in the process of rereading them.” Abra sighed as he turned the page, his eyes constantly moving as they scanned across the page then jumped to the next line, Manny swore he could hear the mundane noise of a type writer clicking and then the ring of the bell as he watched his clan mate read.
“Oh yes that sounds like so much fun.” Manny groaned and gave a deep bow. “I’m so sorry for interrupting your oh so fascinating book that you would rather read again then do something actually fun.”
He turned to leave but was stopped by the clap of a book closing. He turned to see Abra setting his book on his end table, a golden feather stuck in to save his page. “Enlighten me oh great clan leader.” Abra smiled as he got up, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “What is this fun event you speak so highly of?”
Manny said nothing and simply walked away, forcing Abra to follow who did so begrudgingly, gritting his teeth as he held back his temper. The two walked down a flight of stairs and Manny gave Abra a small tour, “That’s the gym, that’s the medbay, and here’s our destination, the training room.”
“I know all of this.” Abra sighed, not taking his eyes off the cards he was playing with in his hands. “Why are you telling me again?” He held the deck in his left hand and pulled cards off with his right index and thumb then flipping it across the rest of his fingers before balancing it on his pinkie then repeating the process back to his thumb.
“Oh no reason, just thought it’d be wise to refresh the memory.” Manny opened the door and walked through, letting it go behind him so that Abra would have to open the door for himself. Abra stopped it with a card and walked into the pure white room. Square panels covered the floor, roof, and three walls while the other was dominated by a shiny mirror. He didn’t see Manny inside and he walked around in curiosity, running his fingers against the walls.
Suddenly Manny’s voice blared from a hidden intercom. “Welcome to the holodeck, where we can run battle simulations to your heart’s content. Here in the observation room we can manipulate the program to behave more robotically or more realistically.” Manny looked at Abra through the one-way mirror, lounging in a chair alongside Kizu and Mallory, who both sat stationed in front of the computers. Taking his finger off the mic he asked, “Are we sure he can’t see us through this?”
“Yes, nor will we be in any danger during the fight, the mirror is very resilient.” Mallory stated, her two tails swishing slowly side to side.
Manny stared at Abra and flipped him the bird. Satisfied by the lack of reaction he continued talking in the intercom. “We have on our database every gladiator who has participated in a fight. So take your pick, choose up to two gladiators, or hell you can even fight yourself. I’m sure I’m not alone with wanting to punch that smug face of yours.”
“No you’re not,” Abra rubbed his chin. “But you’re joining a list of a lot of jealous boyfriends.” He smirked. “So I’m sorry but I’m not very knowledgeable on gladiator’s names. Can I have a list or something?” A camera came down from a slot in the roof, projecting upon the wall opposite of the mirror the list one would find in the Hall of Warriors and Abra whistled. “Well look at you, oh great leader, you’re high up there.” Abra scanned the list as it scrolled down and held his hand up. “Stop I got my choices. Number 1. Our wonderful leader and 2. We’ll deal with when we get there.” He waved his hand dismissively.
Manny laughed, “Trying to prove something are we Abra?”
“Of course not!” Abra gasped dramatically, placing his hand against his chest and forehead as he feigned insult, tilting his face as if he had been smacked by the accusation. “I’m simply taking advantage of the advanced technology to see if it can do your image justice. But let’s make him more robotic and simple, wouldn’t want to confuse him with our illustrious captain.”
“Yea yea, no need to be a kiss ass.” Manny watched Mallory and Kizu begin inputting the information as to create his hologram and he watched the battlefield with a slight amount of curiosity. Abra had been off the radar for a long period of time and now he’s back, no longer wearing his iconic mask. Manny had heard rumors, the man who can summon a troupe from hell, who can control humans like puppets, and whose performances ended with him in an auditorium full of corpses. Yet rumors were rumors, and Manny was always a skeptic.
Lights projected down, drawing out an outline that began to fill out, gaining color and texture as the system created Manny Ken. Abra whistled and wrapped his other hand around a sword handle that manifested from the deck of cards. As he drew the weapon from the deck, cards folded upon each other to create the blade and soon he had a long sword in his hand. The remainder of the deck he slipped back into his pocket. He teleported in a puff of black mist and reappeared behind Manny, piercing the mannequin’s chest with his blade. The doll was unfazed by the attack and reaching behind him, grabbed the magician and chucked him over his shoulders. Abra flipped through the air, twirling as to land on his feet. He turned back to see the doll look at the sword pointing out of his chest and then the cards simply peeling apart and fluttering to the floor. “Huh well that’s not what’s supposed to happen.” Abra drew another blade out of his deck and charged. Manny’s pickaxe materialized from a cloud of pixels and the two fighters clashed. Abra blocked the wide sweep to his left side, his right foot stuck between the handle and pickaxe head while the flat of his blade protected him from having the point being gouged into his stomach, one hand on the handle and another resting against the blade’s face. He kicked out, pushing the weapon back. Manny let go of his pickaxe with his right hand and grabbed Abra’s leg, tugging it to unbalance the magician. Abra tugged back, being stronger than the doll he freed his foot from Manny’s grasp and went to stab the mannequin through his stomach, pinning his left arm but as soon as the blade touched Manny’s skin it fell apart in Abra’s hand. “What the hell?” The magician grit his teeth in annoyance and tumbled back as to avoid another swing from the pickaxe.
It was convenient that the program was so simplistic and it allowed him to constantly dodge the puppet’s wide swings as he contemplated how to kill the thing. He needed a weapon… He smiled, and he knew exactly where to get one. As the mannequin swung again, Abra grabbed the weapon and kicked out, shoving the doll back and wrenching the pickaxe out of its grasp. With the new weapon in hand, he began pulling apart his opponent, smashing the weapon into the mannequin’s body and wrenching it out, tearing apart his enemy at the seams and stitches. Every now and then the tool got stuck in chunks of wax that the magician simply stomped flat. Shoving the pickaxe into the mannequin’s head, he clapped his hands clean as he watched the thing’s body dissolve into pixels. He sighed and stretched, relieved he was done. “Man that was a work out! Well thanks for dragging me into this.”
He readjusted his suit and began heading to the exit. Then Manny’s voice crackled over the intercom. “Wooh wooh wooh, you can’t leave yet. You still have one more enemy to fight.”
The magician groaned, “Do I have to?”
“Yes, I did it, Zalgo did it. You should do it too.”
Abra groaned, “Alright let me think… it can be anyone right?”
“Yea if they have a battle on record we can bring their information up.”
“Oh he had a battle alright. Give me Vant Raslan.” Abra crackled his neck and fingers. Mizu and Mallory quickly searched up the gladiator in question and soon the holodeck began forming the gladiator’s body. Abra didn’t waste any time, as the body began forming, he quickly materialized blades and shoved two through the crusader’s legs to pin him to the ground and as the torso formed he shoved three more blades through the man’s stomach. He prepped one more blade, pointing it directly at the man’s heart and he waited until the gladiator was fully formed then he smiled. “Hey remember me?” Abra lunged and pierced Vant’s heart as the man stared at him in disbelief.
The look of disbelief turned into one of rage as flames leaked out of his wounds and the cards turned to ash. “Demon.” He growled, flames wrapped around his body and he pulled his sword out of his scabbard, letting flames gather on the celestial steel. “Demon!” The berserker chopped down and Abra teleported out of the way. The knight chased Abra about, every swing of his blade unleashing a wave of fire that splashed across the walls before dissipating into pixels. “Fight me coward!” Vant demanded but the magician simply continued playing his game of tag, using his power to teleport and his own physical prowess to evade the knight.
Manny watched in boredom. “How long has this been going on?”
Mallory checked the timer. “Only about ten seconds since Vant Raslan set himself on fire.”
“Who is this guy anyways?”
“He’s some type of crusader, hunts demons.” Mallory scrolled through Vant’s data. “Only has one battle on record, and it was against Abra, back when he was known as the Genocide Magician. Seems like Vant won too.”
“So this is revenge?” Manny looked at the battle. “Pretty petty.” He shrugged.
Mallory continued reading. “Seems like Vant possesses the power to deny death for thirty seconds and if he kills his foe within that time he comes back to life.”
“So how much time has passed since then?”
“It’s almost thirty, seems like Abra’s going to win.” Mallory looked up to watch the conclusion of the battle.
Abra checked his watch and seeing the battle approaching its end he stopped moving. Vant took the opportunity and stabbed, gutting Abra. Flames began curling around the wound but suddenly they died, his smile of triumph froze as Abra looked up from his watch and smiled back. Pulling a sword out of his pocket, the magician placed the blade against Vant’s neck and whispered. “I win this time.” Then with a simple flick of the wrist, he lobbed the man’s head off. The corpse and its weapons exploded into a shower of pixels and Abra placed his hand over the wound, it wasn’t bleeding due to the berserker’s flames but the magician stumbled, pressing himself against the wall as he began making his way to the exit. “Hey Manny, where’s the medbay again?” He called out.
The mannequin walked out of the observation room and letting Abra lean on his shoulder, began leading him. “You have fun?”
Abra chuckled softly then grit his teeth in pain. “Sure I guess a bit. Just a bit."
So! Updated the clan page. We now have a new creed, updated points, Leo is the leader again, Manny has left the base (Kizu is still here), and I updated the records for my technical win against buckethead (still salty). Next clan event will be celebrating Leo's return and will be posted some time in the new year!
Oh, and I added SkyFire as allies.
I just noticed I forgot to change the Entry Conditions. Thanks for pointing that out.
Give me an actual reason or no.
Edit: Done with that adjustment. Also, don't just be a goober on the thread. Have some kinda reason for posting.
Give me an actual reason or no.
1. Dante's canon at one point intersected (still intersects?) with your own, and your interactions with Dante, the members of the Coils, Sanctuary, etc, together help form a semblance of coherency.
2. In the event of incoherency / anachronism, Dante's presence offers an alternative throughline.
3. All jokes aside, Dante really is qualified. Cybernetic arms are undoubtedly visible inhuman traits, and Abra got in with a less monstrous appearance than that.
4. The beliefs held by Dante and the beliefs held by the leadership of the Night Creatures have both changed since the clan war. Currently, they more or less align. I believe that Dante would make an interesting addition to the Night Creatures, and were it not for a few key changes, delays, and realizations on my end, I may instead have found myself entering Dante as a true member of the Night Creatures at around this time, as was my original hope.
5. I was under the impression that you were looking to eventually forge something of an alliance with the Coils of Nehushtan at some point after you brought back Leoncio. Whether or not this impression is accurate, was ever accurate, or has even held up, were you to choose to interact with them in the future- be it in the form of a collab, or for all I care, another war- Dante being considered an honorary member not only provides the previous semblance of coherency to allow for such an exchange, but a motive and driving force for the direction of said exchanges based off of Dante's relations to the various clans you may choose to interact with in the future.
6. I was also under the impression that more than one of the characters associated with this clan have interacted with Dante at various points in time outside of the Clan War, and would more than likely speak relatively fondly of him or a version of him. One is Abra, and the other is one of your NPCs.
7. In respect to the Clan War, your rendition of Dante for the Night Creatures' entry was all I could've asked for and more. It would not be a stretch of the imagination, but a fair statistically backed, content backed, and interpersonal discussion backed hypothesis to say that our interaction and collaboration on your end of the Clan War as opposed to Alph and I's interaction / collaboration swayed the votes in your favor and in some ways away from his. Our visions for the character merged far more seamlessly than I was expecting in your version of the Clan War, while mine and Alph's visions butted heads somewhat more noticeably over that particular instance. If we wrote well together in the past- and wish to work well in the present and future, then writing together in the present and into the future should be the way to go.
8. Experimenting with Dante as an honorary member, and learning to operate with and around periphery story characters lends you experience with the concept. From a formatting standpoint, you'd know where you'd put honorary members on your page, as Dante would be your excuse to look into the matter. Say if you want to do something with TwitchyPidge (example ex-Night Creature) and/or her characters down the line- you would know and already ready to explain her options to her regarding registering Iwa, say, or whatever her old character was that was in your clan, as an honorary character whilst utilizing Janice and fulfilling the role of an active member were she to return suddenly and want this. Essentially, figure out the procedure now, with Dante- and you won't have to later should a situation arise where you would need/want honorary members. Be proactive.
9. You left Kizu in the medbay btw.
Alright, you can be an honorary. That said, you'll still have to go through what normal members go through, and write out an interaction with Leoncio wherein he likes you. You get no room.
Also, I left Kizu there for a reason.
Hey guys, new clan event starting up! Something mysterious has occurred within the clan; the event is to describe your experience with this strange event. Though the event officially begins today, due to circumstances, you'll have to wait before it can begin. While you can get an idea for what will happen based on what's available on the front page, you'll need a bit more info before you can properly write things out.
That all being said, there is going to be no due date or word requirement. Hope it'll be fun for you guys!
Edit: Everyone is welcome to participate in this event!
Acta Mendacia - Journal of Falsehoods
Nora creates a library based off of randomly selected genre. The genre may be broad or specific, and the structure of the library matches the library. The books within this library create different effects, abilities, equipment, traps, creatures, machines, etc, based on the library's genre. While Nora can identify the contents of any book before opening it, others will have to open them at their own risk.
Bók Sik - Book of Self
Nora creates a library from her mind. The books within the library contain different information on Nora, though naturally the primary contents are her memories. A very dangerous place, Nora is able to change the structure of the labyrinth at will. Reliving Nora's memories is not recommended.
Seimei Monogatari - Story of Life
Nora creates a library from the minds of others. As it is based on their mind, their mindscape shapes its design as well as the style of books. Nora is able to handle the books within this library to some extent, though this is primarily based off of how receptive the mind is, what is being changed, how it's being changed, and how old the item being changed is.
Bookmarks
Through maintaining visual contact for a minute, or physical contact for ten seconds, Nora is able to create a bookmark with the entity's name on it. This is used in conjunction with her Seimei Monogatari, and allows her to create the library without being in the vicinity of the target. Bookmarks are made of a sturdy papyrus-like material, making them difficult to rip or tear. Multiple bookmarks can be made per person. She keeps them in a special journal.
Personality
Nora is very blunt. She loves books, learning, and information. For this reason, she works as both a librarian and an information broker. Those who threaten books will meet her wrath. Those who don't follow the rules of the library will meet her wrath. Not particularly interested in romance, she enjoys conversations with those who take an interest in the literary world, and under normal circumstances is rather friendly. She doesn't care for lying, but she also doesn't care to reveal more than is necessary. She loves cosplay and clothing that is easy to move and breathe in. She doesn't much care for kids nor the elderly. She likes the colors blue and green. Her favorite animal is the honey badger, she wants a pet weasel, and she keeps a meticulous planner and several journals.
Sexuality: Bibliophile
A cacophony of cracking and clicking bones assaulted Zalgo’s hearing. His vision was obscured by nothing but swirling darkness, much like his oil, yet not. He reached out with his mind for any life nearby, only to discover he was surrounded entirely by one sentient mind, and it was vastly intelligent.
Zalgo awoke with a start. He scanned his room swiftly, looking for any threats. He was met with his oil-coated walls and cocoon. He had never had nightmares before coming to this world. Now, he was assaulted with them daily.
A premonition perhaps? he thought to himself.
Passively scanning for his allies, he sensed Manny in the training room. Lost in thought, he made his way towards his leader. Upon entering the training facility, he was greeted by the mannequin who was sitting inside of an observation room. He pressed a button it seemed and spoke to him through an intercom.
“Hey there big guy. Those boys down at the wRHG H.Q. sent us some fun stuff to toy around with. Now we can fight whoever we want whenever we want! It’ll be some kind of physical hologram, but it’ll be anyone in the wRHG databanks. Even ourselves. So I’ve made it a clan requirement for everyone to get their asses in here and give this thing a test. So, who’ll it be?”
Zalgo’s first thought went to Manny himself. An exercise to see who would win between the two would be entertaining. However his mind drifted back to his dream.
”Manny, is there anyone who can affect dreams? Someone who clicks a lot, perhaps breaking their own bones in the process?”
“Christ, what kind of dreams you been having?” Manny shakes his head a bit before pressing some keys on the newly installed training module. “Yeah there’s one guy. Wanna give him a go?”
Zalgo didn’t answer, instead placing himself on the opposite end of the room and spewing oil of arms. He stared dead-set towards the holo-pad from which the bot would be summoned. The machine began whirring to life as Manny keyed in whatever operations he needed. Rings floated up around the pad, red beams tracing out to artificially create the opponent Zalgo requested.
Black flesh appeared, creating hands on the ground, which grew into arms leading towards the torso. However the proportions were all off. The shoulders were made, with more arms sprouting from them. These arms were much larger than the ones it used for legs, more or less resembling tree trunks. Finally the hologram finished its construction with the monster’s head. Lifeless eyes stared at Zalgo, the creature’s mouth cracked with the movement of its… teeth?
Zalgo stepped back, unnerved by the strangeness of the creature. The bot did not hesitate, charging instantly. Zalgo summoned the oil around him and created a wall between himself and the creature. The oil, as hard as iron, could withstand nearly any attack. The monster ripped through the defenses like they were paper. It grabbed Zalgo’s arm, crushing it in the thing’s intense grip. Commanding his blood, Zalgo wrapped the thing’s wrist in oil, producing spikes out of the tendrils gripping the monster’s hand.
The thing seemed to register no pain, its head vibrating softly. Willing his oil onward, Zalgo begun spinning the spiked tendrils. The oil sawed through the thing’s wrist, the massive hand still gripping Zalgo’s crushed arm. The alien commanded his oil to rush forward, slamming into the monster’s chest and carrying it to the other end of the room. Transforming into a spike mid-charge, it impaled the horrid thing on the other side.
Unable to move his right arm, Zalgo watched in horror as the thing ripped itself free of the massive spike and began to regenerate all the damage he had done to it.
”Manny… stop the test.” an unfamiliar feeling crept into Zalgo’s mind as he spoke the words.
The monster looked up towards Zalgo, its head vibrating harder than before. Its mouth clicking and cracking just as the noises he heard in his dreams. This was the creature plaguing his nightmares.
“Stop the test Manny!” Zalgo roared as he summoned more oil from his body, throwing it at the monster in a desperate attempt to keep it away.
The creature ran for him, like a broken gorilla charging an intruder. It ignored all of his attacks, letting the oil rip away large chunks of its body just to regenerate it. It leapt forward, hands outstretched, ready to rend Zalgo limb from limb. Suddenly, it stopped in mid-air and dissipated into nothingness.
“Holy shit. What was that thing?” Manny stated from the observation room. “It’s name is Handyman? I guess that sounds about right considering it’s made of fucking hands.”
Zalgo didn’t respond, instead rushing himself back to his room. He looked at his cocoon, knowing it would heal him. However, inside he would also sleep. If he slept he would dream, and he would dream of it. Seeing no choice, Zalgo entered his cocoon. He feared what would occur next as he enclosed himself in darkness.
Birds have this curious ability. It’s called “Magnetoreception”. It lets them sense the Earth’s magnetic fields, so they can know where they’re going, where they are, helping them keep track of their altitude, etc. An incredibly helpful tool for those without the intelligence or memory to utilise maps like we can. Besides, in the skies, nothing can really get in their way.
With no obstacles in the skies- apart from the occasional plane or predator- birds can just soar onward to their destination. Amazing how something can be so in tune with the world.
There’s another creature out there with a similar ability. It doesn’t soar, it doesn’t swim, nor can it even run. Despite being in a cave underground, it seems to know when it’s day or night up on the surface above. When it can feel night come, it trembles to life. When day starts to approach, it makes its way home or finds shelter just to settle down to stillness once more.
But, here’s the thing. If there’s some sort of electromagnetic fluctuation, what do birds do? If you were to feel like something’s wrong off in the distance? You wouldn’t be able to really comprehend the feeling, much less explain it in a way you could yourself understand, but you would know that there is something wrong. And what if that feeling stayed? You’d go through your days, finding yourself distracted, thinking on this sensation. If it weren’t for your responsibilities, your routine, your intelligence- all that makes you a functioning human being- you’d probably chase after it. If birds felt such a sensation, they would likely flock to it.
But this sensation wasn’t felt by the birds. It was sensed by that slow, strange thing far beneath the surface. At first, it couldn’t figure what it was. It loomed on the sensation for a few weeks, until it started to realise that this source was familiar. The way it could grow, how it seeped through the Earth itself to grow strong. It felt old, it felt immense, it felt… just like itself.
This thing, sentenced to a life of loneliness ever since it first appeared on this Earth, had actually sensed another like it. It began to rise, its old bones trembling, its digits twitching, its head buzzing thunderously with a static-like roar of noise, snaps and crackles echoing throughout the subterranean system it loomed in. It was going to seek out this source. It would travel slowly, underground or by night. It would migrate at its own restricted pace, simply walking under, around or through obstacles. This ancient, powerful creature felt hope- an honest connection with another- and sought it out, regardless of what could lay ahead. Besides, on this Earth, nothing can really get in its way.
