The Coils of Nehushtan

"Pan Epithumetes Katartisis"--- THE BOOK OF NEHUSHTAN (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1psfdYHagtPzLIcExMK8o56qn8FpUcVSwVdANKmeeK5o/edit?usp=sharing)(<<click there)

Clan Description

Central Principle: “Let our unique attributes be worked to the higher good of Nehushtan – unwavering justice, unfailing protection, and unparalleled good for mankind.”

The Coils of Nehushtan constitutes a select group of individuals who have been chosen specifically by Dr. David MacBeth to serve specific and unique roles within the overall organization of Nehushtan (see organization description HERE (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?95163-List-of-Fictional-Organizations-(wRHG-resource)) on this list.)

Nehushtan itself was founded by Dr. MacBeth towards the end of World War II. Though the details of the story are something he remembers vividly (as detailed in the first part of ), they essence of the story is contained simply in the fact that he realized that he had the ability to work his own powerful attributes to the good of those who could not help themselves. This mentality further developed and grew into a straightforward and forceful desire to bring about a universal standard of GOOD into the world by changing lives, bringing those lives into line with Nehushtan’s righteousness, and then letting them change the lives of others. This “pay it forward” strategy coupled with undeniably wonderful ideals has made it a remarkably widespread and thriving system.

Nehushtan itself functions loosely, since David believes that it is best to let its members – known as Serpents – to work by instinct in their everyday lives. Every Serpent is bound by the morals of Nehsuhtan to help each other, but most of this help is done anonymously, preventing enemies from being able to track any personal ties between Serpents. David only interferes with Serpents on occasions of critical importance – many of them have never even personally met him. Because of this, Nehushtan never truly acts as a defined unit. While this ensures its survival of any attack, it also makes it difficult to overcome more major threats and obstacles that face it.

The Coils of Nehushtan is different. They are a force unified by the remarkable prowess of Dr. MacBeth, working closely with one another on a personal level often. Though each of them lives their own life, they are willing at any moment to come to the aid of their brethren. Each being that has been recruited for this group has been selected for their unique attributes, and are intended to fill a specific role within this ever-developing power-house unit.

It is not merely about giving to Nehushtan, however. The Coils of Nehushtan might require far more commitment than being an average Serpent, but it also provides an intricate system of support and help in times of trouble. Personal access to Dr. David MacBeth also means priority within his professional help – medical work, counselling, financial assistance, etc.

The Coils – as it is called for short – also is a paid position. Since David considers this to be a working commitment more than just the idealogical commitment required of normal Serpents, he pays those who labor within The Coils. His pockets are on par with the deepest in the world, so – while he does not disclose the precise amounts to anyone except each person he pays – it is safe to say that his salaries are far more than comfortable.

Clan Members

Detailed information (such as personality, appearance, explanation of powers, etc.) for all Characters contained in this section can be found HERE (][/url). NPCs are freely available for use by request; Dr. MacBeth is always available for clan-related collabs by request.

Title: The Spirit
Name: Valera Braginsky
Char Type: NPC
Unique Attributes: Heavily biologically engineered. Ageless.
Description:

Valera – or Val as she is known commonly – is really the “figurehead” of Nehushtan. It was her rescue by Dr. David MacBeth that served as the inspiration for him to found Nehushtan. She symbolizes the whole goal of the organization – someone who had been a victim of an unjust regime, rescued out of kindness, nurtured to health, then impassioned with the desire to do the same for others. She is quite close to David – she regards him as an adoptive father, and he considers her his adoptive daughter. Aside from her symbolic significance, however, she plays little role in Nehushtan. David’s primary desire is for her to center her life around a more “normal” career within his Clinic, thus keeping her involvement with Nehushtan to a knowledge-only basis. Aside from the fact that she stopped aging at maturity, there are no other discernable effects of her bio-engineered state. Dr. MacBeth is aware of all of her permutations from various tests, but has never disclosed this information to her or anyone else.

Title: The Head and The Healer (The Head is usually used alone, though they both constitute his full title)
Name: Dr. David MacBeth
Char Type: Alphaeus’s Former RHG
Unique Attributes: Ability to create Reflections, Immense knowledge, Biological/Chemical mastery (normal use and combat), Knife/rifle mastery, Peak Fitness, Ageless.
Description:

Dr. David MacBeth is the key to Nehushtan’s existence. He founded it, formulated the principles upon which it functions, and helps maintain the overall health of the entire organization. As far as The Coils are concerned, he is the most deeply involved of any member. Essentially every waking hour of his day that is not spent with patients is devoted to what he considers his life’s work. His authority is unquestioned, but not in a dictatorial fashion. He has personally impacted the life of every member of The Coils, and every one of them holds some deep level of respect or even love for him. He maintains a close personal relationship with every member of The Coils, and considers their physical, mental, and emotional health as over his own. Though he could be described as fanatical about his obsession with his own role in changing the world – and thus the role of those working with him – David’s inherent devotion to his fellow being manages to far eclipse this shortcoming. As for his powers, the potential extent of them is vast, and has yet to be reached by any trial he has encountered so far.

Title: The Fixer
Name: Altaer
Char Type: Alphaeus’s Current RHG
Unique Attributes: Regeneration. Has background as astoundingly successful free-lance assassin. Master of technology/weapons engineering.
Description:

Altaer is one of the most unusual members of Nehushtan. He boldly flaunts the personal moral standards that Dr. MacBeth upholds, but remains a valuable member because of his deeply personal devotion to Nehushtan’s overall vision. His title of “The Fixer” was given to him before the lethal encounter that transformed him from a human to an other-worldly ruler. His expertise lie in all things espionage, but especially technology and destruction. He cannot actually be destroyed – he can rebuild all of his links to the physical world within a week of their destruction – which makes him, perhaps, the most powerful member of Nehushtan. Despite them being almost polar opposites, Altaer and David maintain a close personal relationship rivaling that even of David and Val. Each one explicitly trusts the other, and there is a high level of mutual respect. When David is not present, Altaer is generally considered to be in charge of The Coils, though he may or may not actually show up for the job. Whereas David is willing to work through any instances of disobedience or disorderliness within The Coils, Altaer is notoriously quick and decisive in his solutions to authority issues. Generally speaking, the offender with come within range of being annihilated. Please note that this is NOT encouraged by Dr. MacBeth, and will only occur when David is totally absent.

Detailed information about all characters contained herein may be found in the provided links to their respective Character Sheets.

Title: The Byronic -- Note: Considered unstable. Under medical surveillance, inactive.
Name: Zoe Thanatos
Character Type: Cruel’s RHG (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?82679-Zoe-the-Fallen-Angel&highlight=Thanatos)
Unique Attributes: A three-fold nature – human, angel, and demon – all in one body. She can change forms, and possesses powerful enhancements from them.
Description:
Lord Byron is credited with creating the character type known as the Byronic Hero in his epic poem Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage. The Byronic Hero is characterized by being a person who is haunted by a dark and painful past, and who – though certainly devoted to good – bears deep struggles in the present. Dr. MacBeth has assigned Zoe this name both as a complement, and a description of his hopes for her. It must be said that he takes her case quite personally, for reasons that he prefers to keep to himself. As of yet, she will work under close watch by either he himself, or Altaer. The more control she gains, the more freedom he will give her. Once she is in full control, he has high plans for her potential that he is just now beginning to form.

Title: The Knight
Name: Dracustos
Character Type: GeneratorRexDragon’s RHG (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?83043-Dracustos-the-Draconian)
Unique Attributes: He is a Draconian, which has all of its own implications. Additionally, he has powers over a variety of fires, skill with a pair of bondable swords, and an extremely powerful feral state.
Description:
Dracustos is considered the stalwart of this team. He has already committed his life to the Old Knight’s Code, a standard which Nehushtan could not match more. His feral state poses a small problem, but he is already taking steps on his own towards better control of it. He takes his responsibilities seriously, and can be relied upon to do anything necessary to help his brethren in the cause. Though there have not been any deep relationships formed, David holds him in a good standing. When most members of The Coils are somewhat unreliable for one reason or another (Altaer has a tendency to “go rogue,” Zoe is still a free radical at this point, etc.), having someone upon whom he places explicit trust is something he values highly. With the potential exception of Zoe, Dracustos shares more of the values of Nehushtan and the same level of devotion to them with David than anyone else fully active in The Coils.

Title: The Striker
Name: Dante Rockwell
Character Type:Chromium7's RHG (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?46051-Dante-quot-Delta-quot-Rockwell)
Unique Attributes: Cybernetic Arms, Combat Experience, "Criminal" skills...
Description:
Dr. David MacBeth did not recruit this rather suspicious character. Altaer knew him from before his own death, and formed a good opinion of him. It was upon Altaer's word that David accepted him into The Coils of Nehushtan, contingent upon his performance in their first war as a functioning unit. As for Dante himself, he has had more than his share of hard knocks in life, but has managed to maintain a rather YOLO-ish cheerful spirit. His combat skills and tactical abilities are not to be underestimated, however, despite his civilian attitude. David will be watching him closely for progress, and will be adding more details to his own notes about this man.

Title: The Mercenary
Name: Leikani Asceum
Character Type: ErrorBlender’s RHG (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?100883-Leikani-quot-The-Mistwielder-quot-Asceum)
Unique Attributes: Mercenary Skills, Increased Endurance, “Ice Fang” user and mistwielder with associated powers.
Description:
Leikani was recruited by David after the collapse of Greater Nehushtan to help consolidate his security concerning what remained of Nehushtan. Though a member of The Coils, she is not a Serpent herself, and is currently regarded with some level of distance compared to the other members. Altaer has been assigned to keep an eye on her, but still trusts her. Currently her primary role is to test and filter members of the RHG to try to find those who need to be eliminated and those who are candidates for recruiting. David is friendly with her, and considers her a solid ally -- the Asceum family name does much for her position here. He also plans to acquire information about her mysterious family from her as well.

Title: The Warrior
Name: Al-Abbas min Filastin (The Lion of Palestine). Goes by Abbas.
Character Type: IgnusBurns' RHG (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?103141-The-Lion-of-Palestine)
Unique Attributes: Ancient and wise, independently wealthy, horseman, highly experienced, combat and tactical expert.
Description:
Abbas has been both recruited by David and come of his own accord through some unusual events. Knowledge of the future through trusted contacts has brought the two into relations, with Abbas keeping his reasons for joining the Coils private. Though he, like Leikani, is not truly a "Serpent," he is loyal and noble. His skills as an ancient, immortal warrior are valuable, as is the fact that he has maintained a very low profile, possessing few enemies beyond those already known to David and himself. David has high plans for his fellow immortal...

Clan Housing

David uses his funds to provide customized top-security private residences to any and all of the members of The Coils. Aside from Altaer (who has declined disclosing the layout of his own private residence), no one has claimed a residence yet. No matter what, though, The Healing Hands Clinic serves as the HQ of The Coils.

It is in Old Town, in a three story brick building that also has a full basement. A small road on the left is used for ambulances and accessing the emergency rooms -- on the right is a driveway leading to two-car garage (that David has expanded to connect to an underground warehousing housing his and Altaer's car collections -- a car lift takes them to street level). A large highly maintained garden and lawn are in back.

The front door is located off the sidewalk, logically, on the front of the building. It is to the right of a large bay window. The first room you will walk into is the actual lobby. All of the furnishes and décor you see from here on match the interior of a king's palace -- world-class art, embossed leather wall paper, stamped gold paneling...you name it, but also designed to somehow convey extreme comfort instead of awkwardness. Directly across from the front door is a hallway leading back into the hospital. On the other side of the wall opposite you is another hallway, this one fronted by a space occupied by the front desk manned by Lily. Behind the front desk the hallway opens into a semi-private space that houses a small rest area for staff and family members of patients. Both of these hallways end in another hallway that stretches across the middle of the building's main floor, parallel to the street/sidewalk.

Across the back of the building are the stable patient rooms, all of which are modeled after top-scale luxury hotel rooms. They do not even look like hospital rooms at all, since all of the equipment is cleverly hidden within luxurious furniture.

At the far end of this row of rooms is a stairwell leading up and down. This is used only by those in the "in" of David and his Clinic. There is also an Elevator located across from these stairs, large enough to accommodate two gurneys at once.

Heading downstairs, you find yourself in a more typical hospital setting. The space is slightly circular, centered around a large ring of chest-height storage cabinets and prep-tables. The style is tasteful, but clearly medical functionality is the main defining factor. The rooms around this space are where David does his surgeries, houses infectious or unstable patients, as well as including his labs, x-rays, and various other technical rooms. Each one of these rooms can be triggered to instantly lockdown into a hyper-secure space capable of housing and containing even the most violent and powerful RHG combatants. There is on one far side a pair of secure double doors used for accepting ambulance transported patients directly into this emergency area.

Out of the basement, up past the main floor, and onto the second, you have the private quarters of Lily and Valera. This space can only be accessed by the stairwell, largely for security (the stairs have emergency doors on each floor to lockdown, but the elevator could potentially be taken to the wrong space by a confused family trying to see a patient). There is a hall running down the middle of the building, directly above the rear hall on the main floor. At the far end of the hall is a maintenance room. Otherwise, the entire space is devoted to the two apartments it houses.

On the top floor, you have David's penthouse. The stairwell leads to a small landing fronted by a single heavy wooden door -- this leads into his private quarters. The elevator leads to a moderately sized reception room, with another desk for Lily. On the other side of this reception room is a door leading to David's study, where he does any professional work that occurs outside of one of the Clinic's rooms (like his psychological counselling). The rest of the floor is occupied by the rooms that would normally fill a full house, all decked out in the Doctor's impeccable and indulgent tastes. Still, remember that while his tastes run to the extreme of cost and wealth, they are also of flawless class and refinement, so thus they avoid being gaudy. His penthouse also includes a number of guest rooms, several of which he leaves permanently available to members of The Coils. These are located along a separate hallway off of his living room and kitchen.

Another staircase leads up from beside his study to the rooftop plaza, reserved for his personal use and those whom he invites up. This is a largely open space, surrounded by brick walls reaching to about stomach height (well, stomach height for David, who is six foot four...). The space is adorned with the best in patio and garden luxury, with a pergola strung with muscadine vines, citrus trees, flowers, ornamental shrubs, fire-pits, grills, etc. It also has a folding automatic roof that can rise out from slots in the surrounding wall to cover the entire plaza. There is also one of the "endless" pools on one side (small rectangular pools about four-five feet deep that can generate enough current to allow a person to swim in them without actually moving forward). This pool is covered in Italian tiles, and is heated and equipped with jets and sets that can slid out to turn into a Jacuzzi as well.

This covers the gist of The Clinic. I could go into extreme furnishing details with each of the rooms, but that would bore both me and you and really isn't necessary.

Clan Allies

The Coils of Nehushtan does not have any Allies as of yet.

Clan Enemies

DISCLAIMER: The Coils of Nehushtan considers any and all clans that have expressed an inclination against Nehushtan’s standard of justice and good to be enemies. The range covered by this is broad, and its boundaries are firm. Enemies need not be combatted by actual physical aggression, but The Coils will not hesitate to reduce any hardened offenders to death or at least the brink of death.

--------------------

Enemy Clan Name: The Night Creatures

Enemy Offense: A stated objective supporting anarchy.

Enemy Status: Despite the seriousness of their mission, they have perpetrated primarily minor infractions. Passive or Non-lethal only unless otherwise necessary.

----------------------------

Enemy Clan Name: Sanctuary

Enemy Offense: A revolutionary group led by an incarnation of sin. Though their stated goal is similar to that of Nehushtan, The Head has determined that their course and methodology is inherently unrighteous.

Enemy Status: Regarding Leadership – destroy at the first possible chance. Regarding Members – take each case individually. Attempt to ascertain if the placement of a Serpent within Sanctuary is possible.

Status Update: Inside Serpent placement confirmed success.

----------------------------

Enemy Clan Name: Moirai

Enemy Offense: They were originally extended grace by Nehushtan -- an offering to overlook their faults and bring them close to The Coils. This grace has been mockingly rejected, and their leader has declared enmity.

Enemy Status: A Serpent is already within their ranks. Destroy the recalcitrant, and bring their leader to his knees. Do not be the first aggressors, however -- they have not yet accumulated enough offenses.

Clan Events

Clan events are announced in the thread. Each Member will have their own storyline in a link below.

Becoming a Serpent

Positions currently open!!

Joining will be primarily by recruitment. If you wish to join and I (Alphaeus) have not recruited you, please PM me a request and I will either admit you direction, or custom design a test of your skills.

[u]Important Requirements:

1)You must be an at least mostly active writer, able to do collaborations. If you become inactive without notice for an extended period of time while already a member, you will kicked from the clan. If you do give notice of inactivity, you will be temporarily moved (for periods longer than 8 weeks) to a “Associates” list separate from the member list.

2)Your acceptance into Nehushtan is primarily reliant upon your writing skills. If you have applied and I feel that you need more practice before joining, I will suggest postponing your acceptance. Please note that my standards for the writing is based on overall story quality.

3)Your character must comply and remain compliant with the overall nature of Nehushtan. If you have questions about this, PM me and we can (possibly) work out an in-character solution.

4)You must pay an acceptance fee of $2,500 dollars payable to my PayPal account. (JUST JOKING :D --- although you still can if you want to….)

Tsh, with all these new clans maybe I should bring back Omega and make a clan where I just invite all the new guys to be my slaves.
Regardless, some advice to you Alphaeus. Start aggressively asking members you want in the clan to join. If you can get 4 members then that is excellent.
Next I would suggest you start planning out monthlies and/or weeklies well in advance. Just have them be things you could do at any time, and then have your "story" pieces or whatever when you can actually think of them.

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing, so I'm glad to see that all minds think like my great one...(wait, that didn't sound right... :P).

I'm not sure if I can get four members, put I'm pretty sure I can do three in a relatively short time.

The doctor sat at his seat, twirling a syringe around in his hand. The "pitter patter" of rain on the windows intensified, and a bright flash of lightning briefly illuminated his elegant office. Everything was in it's neat order and specific place on the expensive oak desk, and the book shelves around him had every book in alphabetic order. His name, engraved in a gold name plate on the front of the desk, shimmered as thunder and lightning crashed once more outside. It was the worst storm they had experienced in months, and the early spring storms were not showing any signs of mercy.

Doctor David Macbeth sat deep in thought in the comfortable brown leather chair. His leg neatly tucked over his other, he sat with the syringe in hand thinking of the weeks events. The organization had been around a long time, and this was the first time since its founding that members were being actively sought. He was confident in his abilities, but he was not omnipresent. He needed more help outside of Valerie to keep order around the medical bay, while also dealing with more problematic threats that occasionally arose.

His clinic, available to anyone he deemed in need of help, was overwhelmed at the moment. Valerie hadn't slept in days, and the Doctor would catch her dozing off in her office from the lack of rest whenever she got the chance. He respected her utter dedication to his cause, and hoped to find more members, or serpents as he would call them, to assist him.

The door slammed open, and the silhouette of a girl stood in the frame as the rain outside drenched her. She walked into the dimly lit office, tracking water through the soft carpet. Her black straight here shined from the wetness, sticking to her face and neck and dripping down her pail skin. Her shirt looked glued to her body as she took slow steps toward his desk.

"I see you got my message, Zoey." The doctor said. He grabbed a bottle of Fireball Whiskey from underneath his desk to pour himself a small glass. "Care for some?"

"I don't drink." The girl said. She shook her head, spraying water off of it in every direction. "I hope you know what I'm leaving behind to be here."

"I'm fully aware my dear." Macbeth, sipping the glass in his hand as the orange liquid dripped down his throat. "But you realize that you will be using your abilities to their fullest potential here, correct? You will be busy, and you will do much good in the world here"

"Yes. But you better keep your end of your deal." Zoey said back. She grabbed her hair and twisted it to get as much of the water out as possible.

"I can't promise you anything, but with enough study of your..." He paused to find the right word. "...gifts, you should have complete control.

"But you said-"

"I said I would try. I'm a highly effective doctor, not a miracle worker."

Zoey fell silent, resisting her own emotions. Macbeth stood up and put a hand on her wet head, as if she were a child.

"Help me and my goals, and I promise your control will improve. You have incredible potential and can change the world. You will be fine my friend."

Before he could react Zoey grabbed the doctor by his suit and pulled him in tight, sobbing into his chest. He gently put his arms around her. It had been a long time since anybody had treated Zoey like a human and not a monster.

Excellent! The only thing I'm going to edit is that "Valerie" is actually "Valera." Just a minor note. Otherwise...great!

Just now noticed this, though. Anyhow...I don't WANT us to be enemies. Neutrals would be desirable.

But Neshushtan will not compromise if you support your allies.

You will be totally and completely eviscerated if you make that foolish decision.

Wonderful! Wanna set a due date, or wait for one side to finish then give the other side x amount of time to finish afterwards?

Let's both work to finish. Whoever finishes first then gives his opponents 3-7 days to finish their side as well. No extensions without some super life-altering reason (aka, hey, my beloved uncle died, I'm taking three days off to attend a funeral and be with family).

Oh, and I'm pretty sure we should make this canonical.

This all works out perfectly for me. Be sure not to disappoint.

*runs in screaming and throws this in*

The halfbreed woke with a start, stirred by a ringing sound. He glanced around, finding that he had dozed off on the couch.

Bring bring! Realizing it was the phone, he hopped up from his seat and swiped it from the cradle.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Draco?” The old man was trying to sound casual, but Draco knew him too well.

“Something wrong, Iroh?”

“Not really, but there appears to be someone looking for you.”

“Is that so? Do you have a name?”

“He said it was Dr. Macbeth.”

“Macbeth? What’s he doing around here…” Draco mumbled to himself. After a moment of thought he turned his attention back to the wall phone. “Tell him to wait at the Lotus. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” A quick farewell was exchanged before hanging up, then he grabbed a cloak hanging by the door on his way out.
------------

He slowed to a jog as The White Lotus came into view, eventually settling into a purposeful gait. He easily spotted the doctor through the diner’s large windows, sitting where Dracustos normally chose. He entered and made his way to the back bench and took a seat.

“Ah, there you are,” Macbeth greeted with a smile. “How’s that wing of yours?”

“It’s almost back. But something tells me you didn’t show up unannounced to give me a check-up.” His smile faded, then he folded his hands and closed his eyes.

“You read people far too well,” he mumbled. His eyes opened. “You see, I have this organization with the sole purpose of... making the world a better place. I’ve read over your profile many times, Dracustos, and after meeting you… I believe you fit my standards.” The halfbreed raised a brow.

“Whoah whoah whoah, is this… a Clan invitation?”

“In a manner of speaking,” the doctor answered. Dracustos gave a skeptical sneer.

“I don’t know… In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not exactly sociable, the reason being what happened during our battle.”

“Oh, you won’t have to worry too much about that. We operate very loosely, like a spider’s web, if you will. You probably won’t encounter another member for a long time.” The halfbreed rubbed his chin in consideration.

“Let’s say I agree to this. Don’t you have tryout battles or something?”

“Not particularly. As I said before, you meet the requirements, but I wasn’t referring to your fighting skills. We are bonded by our morals, the want to do good in the world and help whomever we can.” Macbeth leaned back as Draco closed his eyes and gave a heavy sigh.

“I’ve caused a lot of pain as well.”

“Yet another thing we have in common.” The halfbreed raised his eyes. “I’ve been in many wars, Dracustos. Experienced countless things I only hope to never do again, and hope you never get to see. I became what I am to help those who cannot help themselves.” There was a moment of silence, the scaley figure looking to the floor in thought. “I know about your connection to this town, why the people here love you and count on you. My organization works both ways. We can help keep this place safe if you’re not around, aid you should a natural disaster hit. You yourself know of my medical expertise; I could help in that regard should someone get severely injured or ill-” He paused, noticing a slight change in the Draconian’s countenance. “Sorry, did I get into a touchy subject?”

“No… no it’s fine,” he lied with a shake of his head. “I’ll... consider joining your group.”

“That’s fine with me.” Dr. Macbeth pulled something from his pocket and slid it across the table. “Call this number when you make up your mind.” He stood, then proceeded to take his leave. Dracustos stared at the card for a moment before picking it up, and he too left.
------------

Draco stretched his scaly limbs across the grass enjoying the warmth of the sun, listening to the radio. However, he was far from relaxed. The doctor’s words constantly ran through his head as he weighed his options. He liked the idea of others helping to guard his town from danger should he be away on RHG business and whatnot; he wouldn’t stress so much when on leave. He couldn’t really think of any downsides to joining, other than being under someone’s command. The Clan’s purpose was right up his alley.

He sighed, clearing his head for a moment to actually pay attention to whatever music was playing. A new song had just begun.

“One more depending on a prayer
And we all look away
People pretending everywhere
It’s just another day
There’s bullets flying through the air
And they still carry on
We watch it happen over there
And then just turn it off

“We must stand together
There’s no giving in
Hand in hand forever
That’s when we all win
That’s, that’s, that’s when we all win
That’s, that’s, that’s when we all win

“They tell us everything’s alright
And we just go along
How can we fall asleep at night
When something’s clearly wrong
When we could feed a starving world
With what we throw away
But all we serve are empty words
That always taste the same

“We must stand together
There’s no giving in
Hand in hand forever
That’s when we all win
That’s, that’s, that’s when we all win
That’s, that’s, that’s when we all win

“The right thing to guide us
Is right here inside us
No one can divide us
When the light is nearly gone
But just like a heartbeat
The drum beat carries on
And the drum beat carries on

““We must stand together
There’s no giving in
Hand in hand forever
That’s when we all win
That’s, that’s, that’s when we all win
That’s, that’s, that’s when we all win”

Dracustos snorted. This is what happens when I listen to music… He got up and went inside, making his way to the phone.

“Where’d I put it…Ah!” He reached towards the cloak he wore the other day, plucking the card Macbeth had given him from the pocket. He hesitated for a moment as he looked over the numbers, then sighed, “Why the hell not?”

He poked at the numbers on the keypad, taking a breath to calm his nerves as he waited for a response.

“Hello?”

“Yes, this is Dracustos. I’m calling about an invitation?”

“Ah yes, the halfbreed. Have you reached a verdict?”

“I have. Count me in.”

It's true, and I am. :]
For all intents and purposes, Dante's participation in the Nehushtan vs Night Creatures Clan War will be counted as his battle with Manny.
Honored to be a part of this- now let's kick some ass.

Wrote up a quick exchange between Dante and Macbeth in the aftermath of the war with Nehushtan. The first line of dialogue is from Dante, the second from Macbeth, and so on. Dante is odd, Macbeth is even. I didn't want to give away facial expressions, speech patterns or thoughts to up the intrigue, but these are the words as I imagine them. Not sure if this can count towards the story due by the end of August, but if the story I'm planning for Dante gets pushed back (as a part of his rework- story itself is meant to be his new demo), well- it's something.

"Doin' okay there, doc?"

"I'm fine. Be better if you'd saved me some morphine."

"Funny. I was about to say you look glassed over enough as is."

"Funny. How are the others?"

"Heard from everyone but Ol' Abby. And he's gotten himself out of worse situations than this. We'll be alright. With your help."

"Nehushtan thanks you for your service, Dante. As do I."

"Yeah well, that's what I'm here for, ain't it? Helping you get us into trouble?"

"Aye. And pulling us out with the prize. Manny tell you anything we can use?"

"That he's as clueless as we are. But he's itching for a fight. Whatever's been pulling our strings lately, you can bet your ass they're pulling his too. And he knows it. But that one's no puppet. He's got a hold of those strings of his and you can bet he'll be the one strangling the life out of you in the end."

"A man of your own heart, then?"

"Funny."

Decided to stop procrastinating. Here's the monthly.

The blue, scaly figure sat in front of the koi pond, eyes closed in meditation. Ever since his “episode” when fighting Dr. Macbeth, he’d been trying to get in touch with Feral State, to figure out why it was so angry and hateful. So far his attempts had failed.

His ears suddenly twitched, picking up a droning, low-pitched sound. He froze and listened, making sure he was hearing right before he jumped to his feet and took to the air, heading for town as fast as he could. There was real trouble if someone used the Horn.
------------

He scanned the buildings below and spotted Iroh, waving his hands in the air to get the halfbreed’s attention. He folded his wings in a dive before leveling out to land in front of the old man.

“What’s wrong Iroh?” he demanded, looking him over. He wasn’t injured himself, but judging by his countenance…

“It’s back,” Iroh answered, seemingly out of breath. “Drake caught it. He’s in the hospital.” Dracustos remained silent, but his eyes revealed a raging conflict of emotions. It’s back…

He gave the old man a nod before sprinting down the street, and he suddenly vanished from view. He appeared in front of the Twin Snakes Hospital lobby and swiftly walked inside. Others were already there, huddled around a crying woman, trying to comfort her. As Dracustos approached they parted, allowing him room to join them. The red-haired woman looked up at him, green eyes swelled with tears.

“Rachel… I’m so sorry.” She stared at him for a moment, and the halfbreed almost expected her to lash out angrily in some way out of sorrow. But instead she stepped forward, tucking her head into his chest as she continued to weep. Dracustos remained still for a second before hesitantly wrapping his arms around her in an attempt at a comforting hug.

“I’ll find a way to fix this,” he said, his grip tightening. “I’ll find a way to cure him.” Rachel raised her head, wiping away tears.

“H-how? We couldn’t before- your mother-”

“I know someone who might be able to help.”
------------

“Well? What do you make of it?” Dracustos inquired as MacBeth leaned back from his equipment. The man scratched the back of his head.

“To be honest… I’ve never seen anything like this.” He swiveled the chair around and stood, collecting a few screening images and putting them up on the viewing board. “There’s no signs of any viruses or other foreign contaminates in his blood. But I did find something strange in his X-ray.” He pointed to very small, arrow-headed figures that spotted the lungs. “At first I didn’t know what to make of these, until the kid happened to cough one up.”

“And?”

“You tell me,” Macbeth answered, gesturing to his microscope. As Dracustos made his way to the desk, he continued, “I thought it might be dragon-related, given their appearance, but I can’t do much about them until-” He stopped when a growl came from his comrade and shifted uneasily. “Is… something wrong?” At first there was silence as the Draconian backed away from the desk.

“Yes. Very wrong.”

“You know what those are?”

“Ichneumon. They’re parasites. Dragon parasites, to be specific.”

“If it’s a dragon parasite, then why is it inside a human boy?” The halfbreed sat down, rubbing his chin in thought.

“They typically live in the mud of freshwaters and swamps… Maybe… they somehow found their way into the water supply.” The doctor made his way back into his chair.

“Alright,” he said enthusiastically, clapping his hands together, “so how do we get rid of them?”

“Can’t say,” Dracustos answered with a shake of his head. “You saw how armored those things are. They’re not like those worms and whatnot you humans typically get. They’re very resilient. If there is some sort of treatment, our best option is to question a Water Dragon. Their species is more susceptible to Ichneumon given they live in similar habitats. But that’s easier said than done.”

“Why is that?”

“Water Dragons can be very elusive.”

“Well then,” MacBeth stood, “we’d best not waste any time. Any way I can help, other than keeping Drake stable?”

“Actually, there is,” Dracustos answered, also moving to his feet. “While I look for a dragon, you can get someone to check any and all water pipes going into Rejection, fix any damages that might let those things in. That shouldn’t be too hard.”

“I’ll get someone on that ASAP. Oh, before you leave-” Macbeth sprung up and exited the room, soon returning with a small device in his hand. “I suggest you take this with you.”

“An earpiece?” the halfbreed questioned, plucking it up in his claws.

“You may be able to speak to people over long distances, but I will be unable to respond. I can also keep you posted on the boy’s condition.”
------------

The halfbreed nearly crashed into a tree in his hurry to land outside the mouth of a cave. He shook himself with an annoyed snort, scolding himself for being so clumsy.

Something shifted inside the darkness of the rock, and he raised his head. A slithering sound, accompanied by large footsteps. A warm-colored, horned head appeared, attached to a long, spined neck. At first glance the two beings hardly seemed related.

“Dracustos... This is quite a surprize… as was that landing. That was about as graceful as an Earth-dweller.”

“Nice to see you too, Dad,” the halfbreed greeted with a sigh.

“So, what do you need?”

“Mmh?”

“You don’t usually come here unannounced unless you need something. In fact… you don’t come here at all unless you need something.” Dracustos guiltily scratched the back of his head.

“Yeah… sorry. Either I don’t have time or I just want to be alone, you know?” His father gave a sigh that sounded more like a hiss, then lay down. “Anyways… you remember when Mom got sick?”

“It’s hard to forget.”

“Well it’s back, and it turns out it wasn’t- isn’t a sickness. It’s Ichneumon.” The great beast stiffened in shock.

“That accursed parasite?! How?”

“I think they got into the water supply through a damaged pipeline. I have someone on that, but I need your help in finding a Water Dragon. If there’s a cure, they’re my best shot.”

“The Water-dwellers are typically good-natured. If there was a way to rid our kind of the creatures, they would have shared it with others. I do not think-”

“Dad, just-” He sighed, realizing he had raised his voice, and pinched the bridge of his snout. “I need to know. I don’t want a repeat of that moment. I don’t want anyone else to experience it. I can’t let Rachel just sit by, unable to do anything but watch her son slowly be killed by those... things. He’s all she has left.” Caesitus lowered his head in thought.

“I don’t know of any Water-dwellers… but I thought I sensed something at the mouth of the river that feeds the lake. If there is a dragon there, you’ll need a faster way of finding it.” He stood and vanished inside the cave, swiftly returning with something in his clawed hand. He offered the object: a carved, rounded diamond with a gold and silver dragon curled around it, a loop on the neck connected to a chain.

“You will need this talisman, and you will need to chant an incantation nine times.”

“Magic?” Dracustos raised a brow. “I don’t even know if I can do magic; I’ve never tried.”

“You don’t need to. The talisman will do it for you.”
------------

He gazed out over the blue waters that the river emptied into before standing near the water’s edge. He held the talisman by its chain, and after a sigh, began to chant the spell.

“Nine times nine lives hath lived the cat
And ninety nights are nine by ten,
Nine ounces from nine pounds of fat,
Nine times hath pecked the Dorking hen,
So nine times nine I’ll call to thee,
Ninth of those nine, come thou to me.”

He repeated this eight more times, thinking all the while the verses were strange for their purpose. After saying the chant the final time he waited, scanning the waves for any sign of activity. He became distracted by the necklace’s gem as it started to glow, small flecks of color fading and flashing within the crystalline surface. This went on for a few seconds before it stopped, and soon after Dracustos felt the presence of a large creature. A few bubbles broke the surface, then a tall frill. The water hissed as it flowed away from the massive serpentine form, held up by six legs. The halfbreed was somewhat surprised to actually be in the presence of kin; he had never been around another fullblooded dragon.

He bowed, offering the talisman to the creature. It took the item and looked over it before turning its attention to Draco.

“Foss de hio laan, heffsoski?” <What do you want, halfblood?> Dracustos straightened up.

“Zu hind wa lan do dah Ichneumon.” <I wish to ask of the Ichneumon.> The beast hissed at the name.

“Ichneumon… numa nuz dilosk.” <Ichneumon… rare but deadly.>

“Lo tilak u vahraansi? U vokr?” <Is there a treatment? A cure?> For a moment the serpentine dragon remained silent, tilting his elongated head. Draco sighed.

“Look, I’m short on time. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them?” After looking over the Draconian once more, the beast began retreating into the water.

“Sara hiet,” <Wait here,> he answered, then turned and slithered back under the waves. A few minutes later he returned, holding what looked like a piece of coral in one of his many paws.

“You must turn the creatures’ nature against them. Poison the flesh they so love to devour.” Dracustos slowly took the offered item, somewhat stunned the serpent was speaking English. He looked down at what he held. It was, in fact, a piece of coral made to contain whatever was inside.

“Dracustos, I’d hate to rush you, but I suggest you hurry up with whatever you’re doing,” Macbeth’s voice crackled into the earpiece. A claw was placed on it.

“Roger that.” He gave a bow to the Water Dragon. “Noxta hio.” <Thank you.>

“Wait… before you leave…” Another item was offered; the talisman. “Take this.”

“But… you’re supposed to become its keeper,” the halfbreed protested. He received a shake of the head.

“You need it more than I do.”

“Alright,” Dracustos sighed, “but could you hold on to it for a while? I really need to get going.” A nod was given, and after another quick bow, Draco turned and took to the sky, and the serpent returned to the depths underneath the waves.
------------

“Turns out you were partially right about a damaged pipe,” Macbeth voiced into the scaly being’s ear.

“Partially?”

“It was easily found, but only because the dirt was freshly disturbed. I was told the damage seemed intentional.”

“Intentional…? So, the line wasn’t near a swamp or groundwater?”

“No.” Dracustos was silent for a moment. Who would mess with the water supply, and why? “So, what did the dragon give you?” He looked over the dragon-made container, then opened it. It was half-filled with a translucent green liquid with a faint, sour scent.

“It… seems to be some sort of elixir.”

“Elixir… Do you know the contents?”

“Hard to tell. He said something about poisoning the flesh-” Something bolted up from the treeline and struck the halfbreed’s leg with a sharp pain. He was suddenly yanked back, the force messing up his flight pattern and pulling him down. He crashed through the trees and slammed onto the ground, an audible snap sounding as he landed on his wing.

“Agh, mother-” Dracustos growled in annoyance as he picked himself up, letting the damaged limb hang limp. A wave of pain shot up his leg as he shifted. Something was still pulling on it.

He looked down to find an arrow piercing his calf, a rope attached to its end. With a single swipe he cut the line with his talons, then broke the arrow and pulled it from his leg. OK, who and why? he asked himself. He suddenly realized his hands were empty. Shit, where’s the-

“Looking for this?” asked a familiar, devious voice. Dracustos whipped around to find the tattooed man holding the coral, a sinister grin spread across his thin face. He looked the same now as he did six years ago; a thin muscular build covered by a green sleeveless top and camo military pants, complete with the boots and pocket belt. “What were the odds, meeting you here? Looks like I was in the right place at the right time.” An aggressive hiss found its way up the halfbreed’s throat.

“Adder. Aren’t you supposed to be in prison?”

“Yes, well, the guards came down with a sudden case of death and I just couldn’t help myself.”

“Just give me the damn coral. We can finish this later.”

“This is for that parasite, right?” Dracustos opened his mouth for some remark, then paused.

“What are you talking about?” Adder chuckled.

“I know about those creatures. Raptor discovered them some time ago, before we took over your town. He figured we could put them to good use.”

“Good use?” the Draconian questioned, furrowing his brows and tilting his head.

“Well, you see, there was a certain someone who would have never allowed us to gain control of Rejection. She kept the place strong… I guess you could’ve call her the heart of the town. So we… removed her from the picture, and took over while everyone’s moral was low. I was trying to do the same to you, but it seems someone else got the bug.” The man dropped to the ground, avoiding the stream of fire that came at him. He was quick to get back up when it passed. “My my, what a temper!” Dracustos spread his wings with an angry, fierce roar.

“Fu il’a hiot tozei! Hio kuuz ehk nolk zy!”<So it's your fault! You took her from me!> Dracustos bellowed. The man frowned at the language with a look that said ‘speak English’.

“Do you have any idea who that was?!” he shouted. This received a shrug accompanied by a careless “Enlighten me.” The Draconian became even more furious, smoke rising from his nostrils and seeping between his teeth as he snarled. But then he suddenly found himself trying to hold back tears, the flame of fury dying out and leaving a hole of sorrow. A weakness set into his knees, and he couldn’t help but sink to the ground.

“That was my mother,” he said quietly. At first there was silence. Then a chuckle, and Adder threw his head back in laughter.

“What, do you expect me to feel bad for you?” Dracustos remained silent as he picked himself up, and the glare he sent Adder made the man unsettled. The gang member glanced at the stolen item in his hand and grinned. “I think I’ll keep this, since it’s obviously so important.” He put it into a back pocket. “I’m not passing up this moment,” he said, pulling out a dagger. It too was familiar, the hilt made to look like a snake, and the blade its tongue. “Six years, Dracustos. Six years I’ve waited to take you out, and I can’t wait to see the light leave your eyes when I slit your throat.” He charged in.

Again, Dracustos was silent. He dodged the first attack and swiped his talons across his enemy’s back. For a moment he was angry. He wanted to cause this man pain. He wanted him to suffer.

He deserves it. They all do, a voice hissed. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the halfblood paused.

What? N-no… no that’s not how I am.

They took her from you. He’s one of them.

I don’t want this. She wouldn’t want this.

But you do. You can’t lie to me.

No!

He stepped to the side as the knife was thrust at him again, grabbing the wrist and flipping his opponent over his shoulder. He managed to swipe the weapon away, and placed it against Adder’s throat with an angry snarl. He froze, his eyes suddenly widening in realization that something had taken over.

Adder began to laugh.

“I saw that. Those eyes when that inner beast of yours comes out. You don’t have any more control now than you did then.” Dracustos bared his teeth, and the man glanced at the sharp metal at his neck. “What, you’re going to slit my throat?”

“I just might.”

“Bullshit. You won’t kill me.”

“What makes you so sure? I did with Raptor.” Another chuckle.

“You can’t pull that shit on me. I know that wasn’t you. Not exactly. But I know you won’t because you did the same with my Chief. Because you’re not the vengeful type. Because you’re too soft,” he answered with a teasing grin. The knife was pressed against his throat with another snarl. For a moment, Dracustos was silent in thought. He knew he couldn’t leave this man to run amok; he was too much like Raptor. If he didn’t finish this now, the former gang member would only come back later. There was only one way to keep him away from Rejection’s people. To get him to stop, to make sure he didn’t pose a threat to anyone else. He snorted, realizing the voice was right.

“You know what, Adder? I am soft. But the Code gives me the strength to do what’s necessary.” The Draconian moved the blade to plunge it into the man’s chest, but he suddenly retaliated and wrestled it from the clawed fingers. He jumped onto Draco’s back, wasting no time in burying his blade between the beast’s shoulder blades. Draco gave a short roar before grabbing him and throwing him off. He took a step forward, intent on doing real harm, then paused. A numbing burn was coming from the wound, and it was steadily spreading.

“Inland taipan venom,” Adder mused, twirling the dagger. “The most poisonous snake on the planet. I was saving it for this… special occasion. If the cold steel doesn’t kill you, the snake will. Of course, given your stronger immune system, it will kill you more slowly than usual.” Dracustos panted, feeling a wave of nausea wash over him. “Huh, maybe not.”

Adder charged at him again. He waited until the man thrust the dagger at him before once again grabbing the wrist to redirect the attack, then prompted to deliver a single punch that knocked the gang member onto the ground. A burst of fire came next, and Adder rolled out of the way before hopping to his feet.

Suddenly his vision blurred as his muscles became weak, making him fall to his knees. Damn, this already? he asked himself as he tried to stand. But the effort was fruitless, and he ended up back on the ground. There was a laugh, and he lifted his head to glare at Adder.

“You know, I'm kind of glad you didn't get infested. If you did, I wouldn't have had this opportunity.” He began to drone on. The main difference between him and his deceased leader; Adder liked to talk.

“Draco, I don’t mean to worry you,” Macbeth voiced in with frantic tones, “but time is running short.” Dracustos ignored Adder’s boasting to think. He needed to get the coral piece back, but he can’t fly with a broken wing, and the clinic was far out of teleporting range.

“Dons’ik,”<Dammit,> he growled. Adder grabbed his ear, making him raise his head.

“Do you hear me? Once I’m done with you here, I’m getting the boys back together and going to Rejection. And I’m going to take back what’s mi-” The Draconian lurched forward, his talons digging into the man’s chest like spears. He rotated around as he extracted his claws and shoved the man, ripping open a back pocket. The coral fell out, landing deftly among the grass and leaves. But the halfbreed wasn’t done yet. As much as he didn’t want to, he had to do it. For the safety of Rejection, of his people. As the Knight of Nehushtan.

Adder staggered around to face his enemy, his blade ready to take another dive into the creature’s flesh. Dracustos was already on him, and with a roar his jaws clamped shut on the man’s neck. They both fell to the ground, the former Tribe member choking as he frantically tried to push his enemy off. But his arms were pinned, and he couldn’t get his feet under to kick him away.

His wrath undoes the wicked.

Dracustos suddenly tightened his grip with a jerk. Adder’s body tensed up for a second, a sickening gurgle the only sound to escape from his crushed throat before he slowly went limp.

The Draconian released his jaws and backed away from the body. He glanced behind him at the coral container and, after wiping some blood from his mouth, retrieved it from the ground. He noticed his muscles were growing stiff from paralysis, and he knew it wouldn’t be long before his heart followed.

“Dracustos!” The doctor’s voice startled the halfbreed. “Where the hell are you?”

“Cool it David,” Draco snapped back. After a moment of silence from the other end he sighed. “Sorry, I just... I needed to get the elixir back-,” he glanced at the body behind him, “-and take care of some unfinished business.”

“Alright, understandable, but you need to book it. I don’t know how much longer this kid can hold out.” Dracustos looked over his broken wing. There was no way he could get there on time by foot.

“Dons’ik,”<Dammit,> he panted. “Doctor, I’m going to need you to go outside.”

“Why is that?”

“I’m about to do something stupid.” David began protesting against Draco’s plan, but he ignored him and turned off his earpiece. He took another glance at Adder. “Sorry,” he mumbled. After tightening his grip on the coral in his hand, he teleported.
------------

Dracustos appeared in front of the Healing Hands Clinic. He passed out from energy drain and his immune system bottomed out, allowing the venom’s symptoms to advance. Dr. Macbeth rushed outside in time to see him hit the ground.

“Dracustos!” He knelt in front of the halfbreed, pausing to check his pulse. After a sigh of relief he noticed an unnatural tension in his comrade’s muscles. The doctor spotted the coral container lying loosely in the Draconian’s palm. It was taken, then David looked up.

“Carry him inside,” he ordered. The Reflections silently obeyed.
------------

The blue, scaly hand twitched before slowly clenching into a loose fist, and the arm slid across its owner’s midsection as he shifted in his sleep. Sitting in a chair next to his bed was a brown-haired boy, talking the Draconian’s ear off as if he were conscious. The room door opened, and Dr. Macbeth walked in.

“Drake, it’s time for your checkup,” he said. The boy nodded with an “OK,” and hopped up from his seat, running past the man on his way back to his room. The doctor began to follow, then paused and looked at Dracustos. He had questions: what the unfinished business was, why he had snake venom in his blood… why he snapped so angrily. Of course, the answers had to wait until his comrade woke from his deep slumber.

...is our lord and savior and he died on a cross so that we wouldn't have to slaughter lambs to cover up the fact that we're terrible people.
Look, I never said the bible wasn't weird. Like, the old testament is like full of adult themes. Incest, rape, genocide, etc.

... carry on.

How dare you desecrate a book I clearly hold dear and take very, VERY, seriously. Clearly, Leviticus was right and we should put our children to death for disobeying their parents. It's financially sound and follows every moral code in my book, so fuck it kill the kids.

I'm sorry to you folks with those...what are they called...ideals?

ANYWAY, guys I apologize for the inactivity, I've been unemployed and dealing with a couple other real life issues, but it's slowing down and I hope to write again soon. I'll hopefully finish the monthly in the next couple days.

Also, Dooms druid 69 or whatever you're called, if you're going to post nonsense or keep pointlessly challenging people without ACTUALLY challenging anyone, don't bother posting here. It's borderline spam man, and I'd rather not have to report some of these comments, but really come on have some common sense dude. If you want to challenge someone shoot them a pm, set up a deadline, and do it.

Talk is cheap, back it up.

Leviticus was a book for the Jews entering into the promised land. Considering that event happened a few millennia ago I don't think it applies to most people. I mean, unless you're a Jewish time traveler who's trying to get to Israel, if that's the case... I'm not sure what you should do honestly. But personally, I think I'm an Christian who's entering into his virtual world on the internet.

I'm sorry to those of you who don't look at uh... context.
I wish people would wise up and stop looking to Leviticus to try and make Christian's look stupid, there are far better ways to go about it.

I'm a Christian as well, and I understand it's out of context, but one must question the motives of any god, being, or power that claims to be perfect, yet allows the murder of children as if that in itself wasn't evil in itself. I wasn't opening this to some sort of religious debate, was a snarky jab at religion because stupid people don't like any sort of criticsm of something they take so seriously. I don't think anything in religion is worth arguing because we won't know till we're all dead, so fukit.

Wuv you malacal <3
wuv you too.

To derail this thread further though, I'll explain Leviticus 20:9, the one that says children are to be put to death for disobedience.
So like, death wasn't a punishment taken lightly at the time, it never has been taken lightly. And in order to fall victim to this law, you had to know what you were doing. First off, Deuteronomy, which expands upon the law, refers to the subject of the punishment as a "man," which the Jews deem adulthood to start at the age of 13. So, the kids aren't completely idiotic, just really weird and hyped up on hormones.
So, you're well aware of what goes on. However, this punishment was for the level of disobedience that could damage a family. It's not just any minor infraction, it is continual, deep-seeded rebellion against someone's parents time and time again. It was reserved only until after all disciplining had failed to work. Needless to say, this didn't happen often more than likely.

Am I missing something here, but isn't Clan chatter just fine if it is within the Clan thread? And isn't outsider talk allowed as long as the clan allows it? I recall there was a memo on clan chatter that was off-topic in the RHG section, but this place is fucking dead. What's a few posts going to do?

Unless of course, someone did report this.

The Doctor turns to Dante. “I’ve been thinking about that night,” he says. “And what you saw.”
“You uh..? You what now?” Dante questions cautiously. “Which night are we referencing here? What was it I saw?”
“The night of the clan war,” the Doctor explains. “And the hallucination you experienced under the effects of the Fraysan affliction.”
“Which… hallucinaaa-oh right the uh- the yeah. The hallucination- rightyeahsorry,” Dante coughs.

“You still find it unsettling,” the Doctor smiles.
“Well I wouldn’t say…” Dante trails off.
The Doctor is still smiling.
“Fine. I’d say,” Dante chuckles, his face growing flush. “It’s hard to talk about, I dunno. And weird to think about. But the more I don’t think about it, and the more I avoid.. talking about it, it-“
“-Just gets weirder. And harder to talk about,” the Doctor finishes.
“Yeah,” Dante nods. "I just can't get it out of my head, you know? I've tried... drinking, I've tried... sex, again, which-"

"I don't-" David sighs, "You don't need to tell me. Besides, I may have something that can help."
"Is it sex?" Dante's grin widens.
"No. But you could say it's closer to the other thing. There will be drugs, Dante- lots of them."

::: Later :::

“It’s called exposure therapy,” the Doctor explains. “And it’s based around a fairly simple theory. That theory, is that when the mind experiences any sort of trauma, it naturally seeks to naturalize the event through flashbacks, nightmares- dreams and memories. These are how we heal. But not everyone heals. Not immediately. Occasionally, a patient will find themselves avoiding their own thoughts, their own dreams- and disrupting this process, and disrupting the healing. Desensitization cannot occur without repeated exposure, and that is why we must sometimes …force… exposure- therapeutically.”
“With… LSD?” Dante questions warily.
“It’s not-“ the Doctor groans. “It’s not LSD. We’re injecting you with it. You don’t inject LSD. But yes. That’s the idea. You will be allowed to sleep, but when you wake, the hallucinogen will have already made its way into your system. Rhami and Astor will be standing by in case something goes wrong, as will I with the antidote, and together we will recreate the events of your dream.”
“You want me to fight myself.” Dante realizes.
“Yes. Just like in the dream,” the Doctor confirms.
“You’re sure about this?” Dante asks incredulously.
“No.” The Doctor chuckles. “I just want to see if it works. And how you break. That way I know how to heal you.”
“Oh,” Dante gulps. “So like for science?”
“Yep,” David grins.
“I like science,” Dante lies sleepily.

With the first batch of cocktails- a tranquilizer- making its way into Dante, the Doctor exits Dante’s bedroom to find himself face to face with a white Eastern Imperial Dragon where once there was a dove.
“You’ve grown,” the Doctor notes of Astor. And indeed he had. The feathery, whiskered beast had coiled his way throughout the entirety of the lair, over himself, and around his dearest Rhami countless times and to lengths unmeasurable- though an eighth of a mile would be no vast overestimate.
[You are not to harm him under any circumstance.] Astor commands the doctor, breathing down him scorchingly.
“Of course not. I’m a doctor. It’s in the oath,” the Doctor grumbles.
[A͔͉̘̹͖̩̺̕N̤̼̣̪͉͎̫͢Y̼̗͎̣͠ circumstance.] Astor asserts.
“U-u“ David finds himself stuttering as visions of war flash before him- visions neither of his own or of his world- though not unimaginable. Not inconceivable, and still, ultimately, war- which the doctor was unfortunately no stranger to. “Understood,” he answers cautiously. He is visibly shaken for but a moment.
Astor's form morphs into that of a tiger- releasing Rhami from his protective coils, but staring down David all the same. The Doctor stares back, wary of his ally, but confident in both his mission and his oath. David steps to the left of the doorway, allowing Rhami- who bows her head graciously- to make her way into the room from whence the Doctor had made his leave. She and Astor were the only ones who knew where Dante hid his guns.

::: Later :::

David stands facing a wall with Astor at his back as Rhami carries off the last of Dante’s ballistic weapons cache. While blind to the exact contents of Dante’s armory, he couldn’t help but notice- it had been quite the wait- particularly for so small a room. He sure hoped they’d gotten it all.
At Astor’s signal, the Doctor turns. The door to Dante’s room is promptly closed and locked, and the duo makes their exit. Their presence would interfere with the process of reflection.
David closes his eyes.

The duo returns to two Doctors and two Dantes. The real David slouches; weary in the eyes and weak at the knees, while his reflected counterpart and reflected Dante stand tall and at the ready, the reflected Dante standing tallest of all. David and his subjects permitting, the Olive Archer steps forward, key in hand, to unlock the door to Dante's bedroom.

This was originally intended to be a way to help ground several of my previous lofty, and somewhat disjointed stories. Obviously, this did not work, because it's still unseemly cryptic in its current state. But I argue that the story as it stands now does fulfill the the monthly requirement on the following basis: it does ultimately show/hint at the ways in which Nehushtan has positively impacted Dante's life, and is about both the positive impacts, negative impacts, and ultimately just... the impact in general. Whereas other writers find it easier to create events in their stories and radiate them outwards into the story, I follow the occasionally unfortunate direction of beginning with events, or the repercussions of these events, and pulling them in on themselves to form the stories I enjoy telling, which are found clearly and visibly within the confines of those set events. I will be making efforts to revise and add onto this story continuously as time goes on, and if anyone has questions regarding this or anything else, please contact me.

Okay, now this is something I would have to request you keep off of this thread.

While I'm certain (aka, I'm saying this hoping that I'm right but with certain doubts) you meant this is a good-humored sort of way, triple posting things like this is not acceptable.

Dante, I...uh...accept your monthly. A bit on the odd side, but since you've explained it to me, I can make some connections. A tantalizing start, is how I would peg it, much like the first monthly that I did when I joined Xate's clan (which I then turned into a three part series).

If this was an actual triple post, I would have been infracted for it. Chrome's posts were deleted. Don't be so quick to assume.

Yo Alph, can we put the completed monthlies on page 1? I know Gen's especially got lost in the storm of comments. Fine with having certain individuals (triple) posting about how trash we are but we should really put the focus on the people in this clan that aren't trash and post things here and on time like GeneratorRexDragon and that Chromium fellow.

(Love you, Cruel. Love you, Alph.)

Once Cruel turns his in (which will be in by the 7th, I gave him an extension because of IRL stuff), I'm going to be posting all of them on the Clan Page. Each one of you will have you're own little section under the Clan Events area, where I will put all your monthlies. I'm Just waiting to do them all at once. Have patience.

Double posting, I know, BUT....

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1)The first clan event is officially over by tomorrow (Cruel will be turning his in shortly due to IRL issues causing delays). Once all three have been submitted, they will be posted in personal member-story sections I will be creating.

2)The NEXT clan event is going to be a slightly different principle -- again it is about the positive impact of Nehushtan on your char, but in this circumstance it is regarding how your devotion to a new and higher principle has made your life perhaps deeper, but has also made it harder. A dilemma of some sort, or trial. Again, due the end of the Month.

3)We are just about to welcome our NEWEST MEMBER!!! Wooooo!!! His application story is in the works currently, so as soon as that is in we will welcome the man I am keeping in mystery for now....

Thanks guys for being wonderful members, btw. Just wanted to say that I think I have the best clan members around. :P

Not sure how much this actually leans towards the prompt, but it was all I could come up with and it's better than nothing.

Dracustos took a deep breath and shifted, his eyes slowly drifting open. He glanced around the dimly lit room, recognizing the wallpaper of Dr. Macbeth’s clinic. He suddenly noticed someone was speaking, and turned his head to find Drake sitting next to his bed. The boy had a dinosaur toy, and was talking about something related to it.

He took another breath and stiffly sat up, flinching at the IV in his arm. The movement caught the child’s attention.

“Mr. Draco!” He set the toy down and bounced out of the chair excitedly. “You’re awake!” He received a grin from the halfbreed, and a pat on the head.

“Hey there, kiddo,” the Draconian greeted after a cough. Drake tilted his head in concern.

“Are you OK? You sound sick.”

“I’m fine. How are you feeling?”

“I’m all better!” the boy chimed. “Dr. David says I can go home soon! Oh-!” He jumped back into the chair to reach a button on the wall and mashed it. A response soon came.

“Drake? Did you accidentally push the button again?” Macbeth asked.

“Nuh-uh! Mr. Draco woke up!”

“Did he now?” Dracustos threw in a “Hey Doc,” so as to confirm the child’s claim. “Oh- uh, I’ll be there in a few minutes.” There was a click as the call ended. The halfbreed glanced at the kid, then leaned back and closed his eyes with a sigh of relief. Drake’s alive…

“Are you still tired, Mr. Draco?” the child inquired as he sat in his chair.

“Mmh… a little.”

“You shouldn’t be! You were asleep for a long time!” This received a questioning gaze, but before he could ask what Drake meant the door opened and the doctor walked in.

“Glad you’re up, Dracustos.” A mere wave was given, and Macbeth turned to Drake. “Could you go to your room, please? I need to speak with him alone.”

“Mh-hm!” The six-year-old snatched his toy and quietly left, closing the door behind him.

“He’s a sweet kid,” Macbeth commented as he made his way to the chair. “Such a shame he had to experience Ichneumon firsthand.”

“Yeah…” A moment of silence. “So, what is it you want to talk about?”

“Firstly, I want to say you’re a stupid lizard for doing what you did.”

“Heh, I know.”

“I don’t think you do.” Dracustos was silent, tiredly casting a questioning glance. “The energy drain from your teleport caused your white blood cell count to drop to dangerous levels; by the time I started to treat you, you’d gone into cardiac arrest from the venom. Your vitals dropped, and healing has slowed drastically; that knife wound still needs stitches to hold it closed. Draco...” He leaned onto his knees, folding his hands. “You’ve been out for five weeks.” The halfbreed looked at the foot of his bed. Five weeks?

“What happened out there, Dracustos?” He was silent for a moment before answering. The doctor could tell he was upset about something. He was avoiding eye contact, even refraining to face him directly.

“After I left the dragon... I… ran into someone. A former Tribe member, Adder.”

“A Tribe member? I thought they were all either dead or in prison?”

“He escaped, and just happened to be in the same area as me.”

“I assume he’s responsible for your injuries and the venom?”

“I broke my wing when I fell from the sky; landed on it wrong. The venom was all him. Tribe members are named based on certain skills they have. Adder was an expert in snake venoms.”

“Was?” Dracustos looked away, and it didn’t take long for Macbeth to figure it out.

“Did you go Feral?”

“No.”

“Then surely he forced your hand?” The halfbreed’s ears lay back.

“It’s not so much that I killed him that bugs me; he was too dangerous to be left alive. It’s... the way I killed him.” Dr. Macbeth leaned back.

“And what way was that?”

“... Do you know how lions take down their prey, Doctor?” He rubbed his chin in thought.

“If I recall, they go for the throat. Crushing the trachea…” He trailed off, realizing what the Draconian was insinuating. “Oh...”

“I could have used his knife, one of my swords. But I didn’t.”

“You did what you had to do. It may not have been in the best manner, but now he’s unable to do any more harm.” Another moment of silence.

“I did it… because I was angry. I... wanted to kill him- to make him suffer.”

“And why is that?” At first Draco didn’t answer, wondering when Macbeth became a therapist. Then he sighed.

“He’s the one who messed with the water supply. He put the Ichneumon in it to try to kill me, but Drake got them instead. But it’s not the first time a Tribe member has done this. The first time was twelve years ago.” Clawed hands gripped the blanket in anger. “They did it to kill my mother, because she kept the town alive. And while everyone was at their weakest, grieving over her death, The Tribe came in and took over.” This time David was silent, his gaze turning to his feet. He closed his eyes.

“I can’t quite say that I understand your pain… but you can’t let these things get to you like this. It will make it too easy for certain enemies to take advantage of.” Dracustos gave no reply, and so Dr. Macbeth assumed the conversation was over. He stood with a sigh and made his way to the door, pausing with his hand on the handle. “I’ll… tell Drake to leave you be for a while.” The halfbreed remained turned away, silent in his thoughts.
------

David closed the door and turned to find Drake standing in the hall. The child was looking at the floor, seemingly depressed.

“Oh, Drake… what are you doing out here?” At first he didn’t answer, looking at his dinosaur.

“You don’t think Mr. Draco is bad, do you Dr. David?” he asked. The doctor was speechless, realizing the boy had been listening to their conversation.

“No… no, of course not,” he replied, lowering onto a knee. “He was just doing what he needed to keep your town safe.”

“I know.” Drake raised his head. “My mommy says sometimes good people have to do bad things. Draco doesn’t like to do bad things… When he does he gets sad. Sometimes he goes away for a while.”

“Is that so…” Macbeth mumbled. He stood, ruffling the child’s hair. “Well, Dracustos needs some alone time, so I need you to go back to your room, OK?” Drake gave a nod before leaving, his peppiness dampened by the situation. The doctor remained for a moment, rubbing his chin in thought.
____________

The Coliseum gym was next to empty and strangely quiet, save for the clanking of someone lifting weights or the rhythmic hum and buzz of a treadmill, a couple Gladiators chatting it up. And on one end of the gym, the solid, muffled thumps of a scaly fist hitting a punching bag. Normally Dracustos would have gone home to sit in front of his koi pond and meditate in an attempt to find peace… but this time, he felt he needed to blow off some steam.

As he abused the leather sack, his thoughts wandered back to what had transpired what felt like moments ago; mostly his encounter with Adder, how the man confessed it was The Tribe responsible for his mother’s death, the clashing turmoil of emotions that came over him… the voice. It wasn’t his own; he had never heard it before. Adder said something about his eyes changing, like when he goes Feral. Could it perhaps have something to do with that form?

The trail of thoughts went back to Leia. Of all things, he and his father had never considered she had gotten infested with Ichneumon. The signs were obvious: occasional twinges of pain, coughing up blood… He still couldn’t believe it was their doing.

He could try to forget about it, or just simply try not to think about it, as he always did. But this… He couldn’t forget. It was hard not to think about. In fact, it seemed to be all he thought about since that encounter, as if it were a cancer growing in his brain. Those old memories still pained him, and these new ones even more so.

It was a pain he felt he’ll never get used to. Losing someone close. Facing their killer. Taking a life. Dracustos was already aware of his other side’s rage, but he hadn’t even gone Feral, and yet he had to keep himself from ripping out the man’s throat. But is what he did really any better?

“Dracustos!” Startled, the halfbreed spun around to find Dr. Macbeth standing behind him, then flinched at a sharp twinge in his back. The doctor sighed, gesturing for him to turn back around so he could have a look. The beast knelt down, and after a quick inspection he received another sigh.

“You pulled a couple stitches. I thought I told you to take it easy,” the doctor scolded, reaching into a pocket of his coat.

“Sorry. Must have been hitting harder than I thought,” Dracustos replied. He flinched again as the man began repairing the damage.

“What are you even doing here? You should be resting; your body’s been strained enough.”

“Just needed to blow some steam. And think.”

“Blow steam? You were going at it pretty hard.” David took a step back, returning the sewing materials to their pocket. “In any case… I have a job for you.”

“Didn’t you just say I needed rest?” The scaly figure straightened up as his boss sat on a bench.

“This just requires some travelling, nothing strenuous,” he answered, pulling out a folded piece of paper.

“Alright,” Draco sighed, “what is it?”

“I want you to go to these prisons and make sure no other Tribe members have escaped. I don’t want any more Ichneumon incidents, and I’m sure you don’t either, despite the fact we’ve found a treatment.” The halfbreed stared at him for a moment, a grimness finding its way into his countenance.

“No.”

“I beg your pardon?”

“You’ll have to find someone else. I don’t know if I can handle being around another Tribe member right now.” He turned back to the bag. A frown was the response, and Dr. Macbeth raised his voice to be heard over the thuds and jingling chain.

“Dracustos, I’m trying to help you. I don’t know what kind of personal demons you’re trying to deal with or avoid here, but we have a job to do. People get killed, and sometimes you just have to deal with it. It’s not like it’s the first time you’ve-”

“David,” Dracustos interrupted, pausing his bag beating, “you’re treading on some thin ice. I suggest you watch where you step.” Macbeth was silent for a moment, mostly in shock at his comrade’s tone. Then he sighed and stood.

“I hold you in good standing, Dracustos. You’re one of the top people I can count on and trust to get things done. But if this becomes a regular occurrence… I’ll have to question your place.” He left without another word, leaving the half-dragon to sulk.

Dracustos turned, and noticed Macbeth had left the paper he pulled from his pocket. He snorted and turned his gaze to the floor, questioning himself. Why did I threaten him? He’s done nothing but help me, and I treat him like this? What am I doing? With a snarl he swung one last fist at the punching bag in frustration, breaking the chain and sending the bag a few feet across the room. Why am I still so angry…? Another glance was cast at the paper on the bench. At least he knew where to start making up.
____________

He was bitter the first few visits, but as he continued to take roll his saltiness faded. It was no surprize some Tribe members died in prison riots or escape attempts, but it did come as a shock when most of them greeted him as if he were an old friend. They would wave and smile, and when he spoke with them they were friendly and apologised.

There were a few who were sour towards him, as was expected. They either refused to speak or insulted the halfbreed, even threatening him.

Needless to say, the friendly banter was the highlight of his trip, even if it was from formal enemies. But as he neared the end, he began to grow grim. The last member was in a prison by himself… Adder’s younger brother, Slick. He had a knack for getting out of sticky situations not with strength, but with cunning and tactics. However, he wasn’t to be underestimated, as he would stab someone in the back without hesitation. In a way, he was more dangerous than Adder.

Dracustos went through the routine of security checks, but instead of being led to the man’s cell, he was taken into a room where people speak to the prisoners through phones, separated by a layer of glass.

“He’s been a bit feisty lately. Figured this would be safer,” one of the guards explained. After a nod the halfbreed went to a seat, and not long after Slick was brought in. He had a similar build to his brother, but with a thinner frame and less defined muscles. In a way, he resembled the Joker.

He plopped down in his chair with a huff, then grinned when he set eyes on the being before him and picked up the handset. Dracustos hesitated, and the man gestured for him to use the phone. After a sigh he did so.

“Hey Slick.”

“Dracustos… how long has it been?” No answer came, and he chuckled. “So, what reason do you have to come here?”

“Just making sure everyone is where they’re supposed to be,” the Draconian replied. Slick’s grin grew, and he leaned onto the desk in front of him.

“Not all of us,” he cooed, lowering his voice. “Adder is out there. He’ll come for me… Your days are numbered.” Dracustos remained silent for a moment, debating whether or not to say anything. Then he sighed.

“Slick… Adder’s dead.” This received a laugh.

“That’s a pretty dark sense of humor, Draco! I didn’t know you had it in you!” As his laughter trailed off, he saw an expression on the halfbreed that told him he wasn’t joking. “You’re… you’re serious?” A nod, and the young man leaned back in his chair.

“Sorry Slick,” Dracustos apologised. The prisoner ran a hand down his face.

“Do you, uh… know what happened?” Again, there was an inner debate about answering, and again he sighed.

“It was me,” he said. Slick raised his eyes, seemingly shocked by the answer. “We ran into each other a while ago… he gave me no choice.” He was stunned at the silence that came from the other side. But then Slick leaned forward again.

“If I ever get out of here… you’re dead,” he growled.

“Slick-” The Tribe member shook his head and slammed the handset back onto its holder. He stood, turning to a guard with an angry “We’re done here” and holding out his hands. Dracustos sighed and hung up his own phone as the man was cuffed and led away.

“I didn’t want to do it, Slick. He brought it on himself. I’m sorry.”

As he left the facility, one of the guards from behind the glass caught up with him. The man was laughing.

“Wow, I’ve never seen him like that before!” he exclaimed with a grin. “What’d you do?”

“Nothing you should be laughing about,” Dracustos answered almost angrily, his stride refusing to break. The guard slowed to a stop, his smile fading.
____________

Dr. Macbeth glanced up from his desk as the scaly creature entered. He silently made his way across the office and into a chair. When nothing was said, the doctor set his pen down and folded his hands.

“So, how did it go? Everyone in check?” he questioned. A nod was given.

“It went… mostly well. Slick wants me dead now.”

“Slick?”

“Adder’s brother.”

“Ah, I see…” There was a moment of silence, the halfbreed rubbing his arm.

“I… want to apologize. For what I said earlier.”

“It’s fine,” David replied with a small grin. “It’s not the first time someone has lashed out at me in grief.” Dracustos shook his head.

“No, it’s not fine. Grief or not, it was uncalled for and I shouldn’t have said it.” The man’s grin grew, and he nodded.

“Apology accepted.” He unfolded his hands and returned to his work, but the Serpent didn’t leave.

“David…” He looked up again. “I understand you were trying to help, but please… sometimes it’s best not to summon a dragon’s demons.”
____________

The Tribe member’s corpse had been ravaged by the weather and animals of the forest, leaving little to be identified. The smell of its rotting flesh attracted crows and various insects, tempting the small creatures to let their larvae worm their way around the pungent meat.

With a heavy breath, Dracustos looked over what was left of Adder before setting the pyre alight. For a few minutes he stood and watched, listening to the fire crackle and hiss as its glowing tongues licked the wood and flesh it was meant to consume. He sat, continuing to watch as the smoke begun to carry glowing ashes to the sky.

This is too good for him. The voice was faint this time, but obviously there. You should have left him to rot.

I never meant to kill him in the first place. It was the least I could do. Now shut up. The voice remained silent, and Dracustos sighed. He considered talking to David about it, but at the same time he didn’t want to say anything. Obviously it could take control if provoked… and that could end badly.
____________

The red leaves of the Japanese maples rustled, the whiplike branches of the willow swaying in the breeze. The tips of some branches dipped themselves in the pond, tricking the koifish into thinking they were a fallen insect. The choppy surface of the water brightly reflected the afternoon sun, occasionally throwing a blinding ray onto the Draconian’s face. However, he wasn’t disturbed by the light. His eyes remained closed as he meditated, but although he seemed calm on the outside, it was a different story inside.

“Mr. Draco?” The boy cautiously approached, pausing a few steps away. When no response came, he raised his voice. “Mr. Draco!”

The halfbreed’s eyes snapped open, the feral reptilian slit narrowing angrily. His eyes wavered between forms for a second before he closed them, holding back a growl that wanted to threaten the child.

Drake tilted his head in concern.

“Are you OK, Mr. Draco?” At first there was no answer, then a sigh.

“Yeah… I’m fine,” Dracustos answered. He peered over his shoulder. “What is it?”

“Mommy called. She said you can bring me home now.”

“Oh, yeah, of course.” The halfbreed stood, and soon after found the boy grasping his hand. “Sorry kiddo, can’t teleport yet. And my wing’s still broken, so…” he lowered himself on all fours, “guess you’ll be riding.”

“But isn’t your back still hurt?”

“It’ll be fine. Come on, let’s get you home.”

'Help, help, ' said a man. 'I'm drowning.'
'Hang on, ' said a man from the shore.
'Help, help, ' said the man. 'I'm not clowning.'
'Yes, I know, I heard you before.
Be patient dear man who is drowning,
You, see I've got a disease.
I'm waiting for a Doctor J. Browning.
So do be patient please.'
'How long, ' said the man who was drowning. 'Will it take for the Doc to arrive? '
'Not very long, ' said the man with the disease. 'Till then try staying alive.'
'Very well, ' said the man who was drowning. 'I'll try and stay afloat.
By reciting the poems of Browning
And other things he wrote.'
'Help, help, ' said the man with the disease, 'I suddenly feel quite ill.'
'Keep calm.' said the man who was drowning, ' Breathe deeply and lie quite still.'
'Oh dear, ' said the man with the awful disease. 'I think I'm going to die.'
'Farewell, ' said the man who was drowning.
Said the man with the disease, 'goodbye.'
So the man who was drowning, drownded
And the man with the disease past away.
But apart from that,
And a fire in my flat,
It's been a very nice day.

::: home :::

Dante feels the sensations of falling as he emerges from his dreamlike stupor. A slight twitch of his hand against his chest and blanket inbetween suggests that the falling has ceased, though the sensation remains. Blinking rapidly, his eyes begin to process the sight of his ceiling above him, keeping pace with his fall. <Quite the dancer, that ceiling,> Dante thinks to himself. A twitch of his lips trails behind this line of thought, soon becoming of something recognizable as a tender, loving smile- yet to make its way to Dante’s widened, gaping eyes. The twitching of Dante’s hands meld into a sweet whir, waking steadily the muscles, nerves, and burdened veins through to his covered chest, and down- beneath the sheets. Dante is pleased.
His body grounded, his head remains afloat. Sights and sounds course through his brain; skirting precariously the edges of flaming heart and crackling mind. As Dante touches a cold finger to his lips, his remaining senses are set alight. Dante’s muscles begin to seize and tense, veins crumbling as the ceiling above him reaches down, a thousand screams call to him from below, and the taste of blood enters his foaming mouth and gnashing teeth. Scents race in and away, his mind cycling through them, until one catches and stills his quaking visage with a warm, thin-fingered embrace.
Afront Dante, his back to a cloud, stands a woman of white. Her form and figure flickers to the whims of his body as she (https://youtu.be/ZNsTdd3GwME) unearths him from his windy veil, steadying him lovingly against her floaty embrace.
“Rhaine?“ he moves to speak, his lips only mouth the word as the walls of his lungs sputter franticly in search of air. A panic fills him- a void- that pulls to him his air, his sense of calm, and to his vision, form.
“Alice,” Dante notices pointedly.
The woman releases Dante from her grasp, and floats backwards- skywards once more- slowly at first, before snapping back into place with a final, sobering demand.
“Run Dante,” she speaks. “Run.”
Dante blinks, and when he opens his eyes, he is in his bed once more, staring upward, and none staring down but his ever-present ceiling. A stale drool coating the interior of his cheeks, Dante turns to his left, then his right noting the walls and corners of his container. The walls shift enticingly, inwards and out, but Dante pushes them away, as with the ceiling and floor. His bed remains, and only his bed, in this void of feeling. Unti suddenly, Dante notices a figure standing before him- affront his shifting walls and shouting sensations; a sight as true in form as the cushions beneath him, the clothes upon him, and real in the way of his long disembodied forearms and hands- unfeeling, yet everpresent.
Dante did not speak to this ghostly intruder, nor attempt to neutralize the threat, but instead sat waiting- watching this new figure, and noting the gap between. It appeared effeminate- with black hair similar in length to that of his roommate Rhami, though with hardly the chest or lower portions to speak for. Skin color remained indeterminable, state of dress indeterminable, skills, armament and powerset scarcely worth a guess.
It took a step forward; still effeminate- but now, clearly, male.
Another step. In fact, he noted- it looked an awful lot like…
Standing before Dante was his reflection. Pulled fresh from his closet mirror and looking up at him with a grin. Fascinating.

“That’s right,” the reflection notes. “I’m like you.”
Suddenly, there is a pain. Dante is unsure of where, or its source, instead lashing out at his reflection before drawing himself inwards and away.
“Stop it!” Dante commands. “You’re hurting me.”
“Am I?” the reflection questions.
“…yeah,” Dante answers, after some thought. “You are. My ankle’s twisted.”
The reflection frowns, noting the damage. “Oh shit, man. Sorry. But I mean… no- that- that was you. You kicked me. We should probably take a look at that actually, it looks-“
Dante sees an opportunity and strikes, kicking violently his reflection with his sprained foot- catching the reflection off guard, but dislocating his ankle in the process. Both Dantes cry out in pain, with the real/strained-foot Dante quickly unfurling a bit of gauze, moving frantically to craft a makeshift brace. Dante’s plan had been to render the reflection unconscious, and would have managed to if not for a few deft movements from the reflection to glance off the blow. Was it possible it had expected his attack?
The reflection cringed. “Man, that-“ he stuttered, reeling from the concussion, “that hurt to watch, and I didn’t even see you-“ the reflection blinked in unison with a burst of ‘blinding’ light and truthfully quite deafening sound from Dante’s augmented palm.
“-hit me,” the reflection groaned, head in hand. His ears were hurting, and he looked up to see Dante missing from his bed.
Dante had rolled to his closet, hobbled into it, and closed the door behind him with a few deft motions resulting in little further damage to his terribly sprained ankle. Dante had maintained some level of hearing by focusing the sound outwards and covering the ear closest to the blast, and so heard his reflection speaking the words Dante had been thinking he was thinking as he scrambled for the guns he could not seem to find.

“Gee. I wonder where he’s hiding now. Maybe my cl-“
Right on cue, Dante emerges from the closet, and fires a pair of panties at his reflection.
“Oh, fuck.” The reflection realizes. “These are Jen’s. She must've left them wh-”
Dante punches the shit out of his reflection.
“I deserved that,” Dante grins.

Doctor Macbeth enters the room and begins to clap, Rhami and Astor in tow. Everyone is smiling.
“Well done,” the doctor beams. “Few people can fight themselves and truly win. Yet that is exactly what you have done today. You have earned my pride.”
[{We’re all proud of you,}] Rhami and Astor project lovingly. Dante stomachs a blush.
“Is it coming back to you now?” the doctor asks, “How you made it to this point?”
“Yes,” Dante answers- still smiling, and still blushing, but shivering somewhat as the world continues to shift around him. “You stuck me with something and now I’m tripping balls.”
The doctor hands Dante a syringe. “The counteragent,” he nods, before taking his leave. “Use it wisely.” pausing a moment, and turning at the doorframe, the doctor modifies his earlier statement. “Or bury it. And never look back. Goodbye, Dante.”

“Goodbye, Doctor.”

Alright...

So I'm gonna make each of you a storyline Gdoc. Good work both of you.

Cruel, when you post yours I will do the same.

Just as a side note, Cruel is currently having IRL issues that take precedence. He will be back as soon as possible, and is working on the monthlies as best he can.

In the meantime, Oktoberfest! No monthlies for this month. Instead, relax in your lederhosen with a frothy stein while I do some framework stuff for the clan.

Best of wishes, loyal Serpents.

P.S. -- wuv you too Chromy. <3

Doubleposting, I know, but this is important.

I have updated the clan home page, and I'll let you guys explore the few things I changed and added.

What I really want to draw your attention to is the fact that David is now offering homes for members of The Coils. These can be absolutely ANYTHING you want, and money is ABSOLUTELY NO OBJECT to David. Altaer -- master genius of cyberwarfare and securities design -- will take care of personally designing any security measures you want. Hell, you can have three homes if you are feeling luxurious -- David is generous.

So, what I'm getting to is that while I might have given you a month off, and there is no requirement or deadline for creating your homes, it might be advisable to use your free time this month to whip up a home or two or three, if you want.

Or you can just revel in your freedom for now and do nothing. Your choice.

Either way, have fun!

Also, unless you are applying to the clan or making a relevant addition to the clan thread, I would request that you not comment here. For general things like this there is the General Discussion Chat thread, of which I am part.

Also, unless you are applying to the clan or making a relevant addition to the clan thread, I would request that you not comment here. For general things like this there is the General Discussion Chat thread, of which I am part.

I was only doing this to get 20 posts so I can become an official member. Well, WOOT, 20TH POSTTTTT.

But idk, I really like the Night Creatures. It's like my favorite right now. Although, I would like to have my own clan ._.. The Coils is cool, but.... meh.

Money, dude. Look at real life. If you've got money (Like the organization of Nehushtan does, largely due to David) you don't need to jump through the hoops the rest of us normal folks do. Why build when you can have the instant gratification of buying? While Nehushtan is built around the premise of justice and righteousness, David also well knows that one excellent way of rewarding those who make these commitments is to dole out some of his dough.

I mean, look at any politician in history. Good or bad, those who stand with them always end up with some lining for their pockets. Ditto here.

Money talks, Crank, Money talks. :P

I'll at least be considering the private housing option for Dante. The character would make use of it.

Alright nerds. After a few months of job searching, finding a job, failing a relationship, and dealing with the ensuing depression.....

I'm fuckin back baby. And considering I want to make writing my career, I hope to be doing a LOT more of it and little side stories involving Zoey and personal interactions with each of your characters. Hopefully I'll pump out a short story a week if all goes as planned.

I'm almost done with Septembers monthly. Wrapping it up, editing, and proofreading it this weekend. Expect it in the next few days.

Yeah I had to cut out a few people from my life that were hindering me from progressing forward, and it was dramatic and stupid and I'm glad I left that group of people. And now that my evenings are free, I hope to dedicate 1-2 hours a day to writing which isn't bad considering I work full time.

Today's my day off so I'll finish up the monthly and see if I can work on a few other projects.

Zoey ran her fingers through her hair nervously as she sat in her room anticipating the call on her cell phone. It had been weeks since her last incident and her control over her powers had grown significantly better, but she still was afraid to live on her own. She sat in her cozy room decorated to her liking. Minimalistic decor was her preference. Her twin bed was in the corner with the nightstand next to it and a small reading lamp. In the center of the room was a small table with two chairs, and a couch facing a mounted television on the wall touched the other end of the room. It was small, yet cozy. She felt safe here.

Zoey was half angle and half demon, and due to her unfortunate past circumstances, the demon side reared its ugly head to cause destruction much more often than the Angle side. She was getting better, but still lived in the Coils of Nehushtan in her confined room. She had free access to go and leave as she pleased, but if she should ever lose control of her powers the facility was designed to lock down until the transformation ended.

The phone buzzed in her lap, the words “MacBeth” displayed on her screen. The call she was waiting for had arrived.

“Hello?” She said as she answered the call, still nervous. She hadn’t heard from the Doctor in almost a month. His secretary said he was “away on business” and she knew pressing further to find the Doctor’s whereabouts was a lost cause.

“Nice to hear your voice Zoey” his kind voice played through the phone. He was the only person in the world that sent chills down Zoeys spine yet still made her feel safe.

“When is she coming?” Zoey asked, growing impatient.

“She should be there soon, in fact I’ve sent Val to go get you. You and Dante can tell Cindy anything you like. I’m not concerned with the media’s views of Nehushtan, and I trust anything you tell the reporter will be positive.”

“Of course” Zoey responded. “Anything specific you want me to say?”

“I am in no position to tell you what you think of the organization. Simply remember that the media growing interested in us is a good way for us to help more people, so you being a key member means your opinion holds high relevance in the world. You’ll do fine.” He said. “Val will be there shortly, and later this week you and I will talk more personally. It’s been a busy month.”

“I understand, we’ll talk later.” She said as the call ended. A few minutes later the bell at her door rang, and she unlocked the door for Val to enter. She held a tray of food and smiled warmly at Zoey.

“I hope you slept well hun,” She said. She put the tray down and placed the bowl of pasta on the table with the glass of soda. “I went out and got you your favorite dish.”
“Val you are my favorite person ever.” Zoey said as she hugged her from behind as the familiar aroma hit her nose.

“I know dear.” Val said with a smile, touching her arm that was around her neck gently to return the affection. “You have about half an hour before Cindy would like to interview you.”

“Is Cindy famous? I’ve never heard of her.” Zoey said, twirling the noodles with her fork.

“Cindy Shepherd is relatively well known as a journalist of this area. Shes young, but shows ambition and is very interested in what we do here at Nehushtan. There’s very little we keep secret here, so feel free to tell her whatever you like.” Val said. “Now I have patients to attend to, it’s been slow recently, but there’s always work to do here. When you finish up your meal you can head down to the lobby with Dante until she’s ready to see you. Sound good?”

“Mm-hm” She said with a thumbs up and a mouthful of noodles. Val smiled and took the empty tray with her and left Zoey’s room. Zoey enjoyed the rest of her meal and downed the Dr.Pepper before leaving the room. The door clicked behind her as she walked down the hall and stepped into the elevator that took her down to the main floor.

Dante waited patiently in one of the chairs, his cybernetic metal arms folded. Zoey took a seat next to the dark haired man.

“Strange seeing you here Rockwell.” Zoey said with a devilish smile, knowing how to push his buttons.

“Zoey you call me that one more time I will slap you.” Dante responded coldly, not even looking at her.

“Why are you even here? Don’t you like to keep a low profile with the amount of enemies I’m sure you make with your charming personality.” Zoey asked sarcastically.

“I’m actually quite charming, you just simply aren’t my type.” He said.

“The hell you mean, I’m everyone’s type.” She said with a mocking flip of her hair. “You love this face.”

“Nope.” he said, still looking away, a smile tugging at his lips.

“Look at this, you looooove this.” She said, leaning into him teasingly. He edged his chair away from her.

“This is why I’m never around. This is harassment in the work environment.” He said, intentionally scooting his chair farther away from her on the tile floor with an obnoxious squeak. “I’ll report you to HR you scoundrel.”

“That’s fine ‘you’re not my type anyway’.” Zoey said mocking his tone.

“Bitch I’m everyone’s type.” He said with a wink. She rolled her eyes. “You loooooove this.” He aggressively scooted his chair back toward her.

“No stop that’s creepy!” She said, scooting herself away from him.

“Zoey?” The voice interrupted their friendly shenanigans and Zoey stood up to greet her.

“Hi, I’m Cindy,” The blonde woman said grinning pleasantly. She didn’t look any older than 25. “It’s nice to finally meet you Zoey!”

“Wait, why do you go first?” Dante protested from his chair that now faced an awkward angle, ruining the rest of the neat alignment. “I was here first!”

“Nobody loves you Dante.” Zoey said quickly back at him.

“I’ll see you right after her Dante.” Cindy said. He walked into the small office that Val had let her use for the day with Zoey close behind. She closed the door and sat down at the desk, scribbling into her notebook.

“So Zoey, I’m going to ask you a few simple questions. Answer them as honestly as you can, alright?”

“Yes ma'am.” Zoey responded.

“So what does The Coils of Nehushtan do? It’s a pretty shady name for a hospital.” She said, slightly catching Zoey off guard but kept her composure.

“I didn’t name the place, and all I know is that we’re dedicated to helping people.” Cindy scribbled onto her notepad.

“Interesting, alright. Well the Yelp reviews are astounding for patients that leave this place. They say the care is outstandingly helpful and personal. Can you confirm this?” She asked, looking up from her scribbles.

“Of course,” Zoey said, “Val is the head doctor of everyday patients that walk in and out, and her team does an incredible job of making sure everyone feels at home”

“And you? What is your job here?”

“Well,” She said, nervously playing with her hair. “I’m a patient first, for my…” she bit her lip as she struggled to find the right words, “...unique condition.”
j
“Might I ask what condition you have?” Cindy asked, still writing in the note pad. She licked her finger to turn the page in her notebook.

“Well, I’ll sound crazy if I tell you.” Zoey said. “It’s not really a disease of any sort.”

“Is it some sort of disability?” Cindy asked politely, trying not to pry but still wanting her question answered.

“At times it can be. See, My body is human, but I’m also half angel and half demon.” Zoey said with a shrug.

“I beg your pardon?” Cindy said raising an eyebrow. Her pen stopped scribbling on the paper.

“It’s... complicated. I still don’t really know how I do what I do or where I came from.”

“Is there anyway you can show me.” Cindy asked. Zoey’s eyes looked at the ground nervously.

“I suppose I could show you one thing.” Zoey said. She closed her eyes, focusing her energy on her powers. She took in a deep breath and sighed. A trickle of blood fell from her right eye, rolling down her face in a little red trail.

“You’re bleeding.” Cindy pointed out. “Are you alright Zoey?” She asked, but Zoey didn’t respond. A clear white aura formed around her and Cindy could feel power in the air swirl around the dark haired girl.

Zoey opened her eyes. Her left one was the same, piercing blue, but her other eye was a bright glowing white.

“Oh my.” Cindy said, clearly shocked. “I’m going to leave your...condition out of my notes and article for the time being. You’re right. Nobody would believe me.” Cindy said scribbling into her notebook.

Zoey sighed, breaking her concentration from her abilities and the aura faded away. She closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them again her eyes were back to normal.

Cindy opened a drawer from the desk she was sitting out, she pulled out a handkerchief and handed it to Zoey. She took it and wiped away the trickle of blood from her eye.

“Does it hurt to do that?” She asked, intrigued.

“No not the first stage. That simply enhances my movement, reflexes, and perception.” She smiled. “It’s useful for cooking or other multi-tasking activities.”

“Sounds like it.” Cindy said cheerfully. “Well Zoey that’s about all I wanted to ask you. Thank you so much for your time! The Coils appears to really help a lot of people.”

“It really does. The Head is a good man.” Zoey said, shaking the journalist's hand.

“I hope to meet him myself one day.” She replied. “Can you send your friend who’s in the lobby in? It’s his turn for an interview.”

“Of course.” She stood up and walked toward the door.

“Oh, one last thing Zoey.” Zoey stopped at the door and turned to hear her. “Can you show me your demon side too? I believe you, and frankly I’ve heard of angels and demons being real in these parts. They’re just rare to come by. How do I know you aren’t part of the Angelic council?”

Zoey’s blood ran cold. How did she know about the council? Even MacBeth didn’t know much of the council other than it was simply legend.

“Who told you about that?” Zoey said, suddenly regretting being in the same room as her alone. How did she not suspect she could be part of the council? Or an assassin sent by them to kill her. Her existence could start a war between Heaven and Hell if it became public to them. Thousands of innocent demons and angels would die in a war of that scale, and only because of what she was. As if she had any control of what she was.

“Zoey, my job is acquiring information.” She closed her notebook and slipped the pen into the binding by its clip. “And I’m good at what I do.”

“The only way you could know what I am is if you’re an…” Zoey started, but Cindy’s smile confirmed her suspicions.

“I really need to teach you how to use your powers better. In your Angelic state you should have seen through my disguise. Loser.” Cindy said with a wide grin. Zoey recognized that smile anywhere.

“Holy shit! Epith!?” She said, recognizing the Angel that helped her years ago.

The blonde girl sighed, and in a bright flash of light her regular features returned. She now looked like she was in her early twenties as her facial structure reverted to her normal self. Her voice slightly changed to her more girly easily excitable self.
“Oh my god how’ve you been?” Zoey said, immediately going around the desk and hugging the blonde angel in disguise. She returned the affection, holding her tightly before pulling away to speak.

“You have to be careful Zoey. Next time you reveal your powers, it won’t always be to a friend who’s checking up on you.” She said with a wink.

“I haven’t seen you in almost two years.” Zoey said.

“Well, it’s been two years of chaos in Heaven, let me tell ya.” She said with a chuckle. “They are livid that you disappeared.

“I never understood why the Angelic council hated me so much.” Zoey said, shaking her head.

“Hates,” She said, correcting her. “They still hate that they couldn’t use you as an excuse to wage war on hell.”

“Oh the irony.” she said with a roll of her eyes. “With the exception of you and Gabriel, I’ve yet to meet an angel that isn’t a pompous asshole.”

“Trust me, I’m aware. I’m only still an ascended angel because the pay is good and the works generally pretty easy.” She looked down. “But this assignment was different.”

“What did you have to kill someone?” Zoey asked.

“No, they asked me to find you and bring you in.”

The room went silent for a second. They stared into each others eyes, and Zoey slowly felt she had made a mistake trusting Epith when she suddenly smiled.

“Luckily, It appears my efforts haven’t been fruitful, and the lead of a girl matching your description at the Coils of Nehushtan was simply wrong information.” She winked at her. “You’re Zoey, a patient at the hospital grateful that this hospital can cure your…” She thought for a second, “Cancer.”

“So I’m a cancer patient now?” Zoey said. “I have my hair.”

“You didn’t do chemo, clearly the Coils have advanced medicine and techniques that you aren’t even fully aware of.” Epith sorted the notebooks on the desk. “You staying here is secret and safe with me, but try to keep a low profile and not tell random reporters about your origins. You don’t want heaven sending another assassin for you.

Zoey shuddered at the memory. Two years ago Zoey had fought an assassin that left her within inches of her life. Easily the most brutal fight she’d ever been in.

“Just...be careful.” Epith said with concern. “Tell your friend to get in here. I have a lot of interviews set up”

“I will be, and thank you.” Zoey smiled. “It was great seeing you Epith, visit more often.”

“I’ll try my friend.” She said warmly. Zoey exited and waved at Dante, who grumbled as he stood up from his seat.

“Taking your time huh?” He said with a playful glare.

“Oh shut up and get in there.” Zoey said as he walked by. She walked down the hall to her room and Dante closing the door behind him. Epith-- or Cindy, rather-- slid him a wad of money. All hundreds. He took the money and stuck it in his pocket.

“Thank you for the information Dante. She’s safe here.”

“Yeah, she’ll be fine here. This may look like a hospital, but it turns into a bunker in seconds. Even if Zoey did lose control, nobody would get hurt, and nobody would notice.”

“Perfect. Thank you for all your help. If anyone else offers you money for information on her, I’ll pay you double to keep quiet.”

“That’s a deal I can get behind. I like Zoey anyway, I would have rejected it.”

“Just making sure. Pleasure doing buisness with you.”

Omg Alph I totally said I'd show you how far I am in my book and see what you thought but its been so crazy I haven't had time to revise what I already have and make sure it all still makes sense XD. Wonderful monthly, and I'll be posting your gdoc soon enough. Only thing I'd note is that the "hospital" itself is named The Healing Hands Clinic. Nehushtan might be rumored as the organization behind it but that's all.

Actually... I don't think this is the right attitude to take. In my first monthly, I made mention of the clinic having interns. The clinic, apparently, does not have interns. Additionally, in the follow-up to that monthly, I (accidentally) had the Doctor create two reflections for no real reason. He's not supposed to be able to do that, though apparently he can now?

If we keep posting stories on a monthly basis for the sake of meeting a monthly requirement, but fail to edit them, things will spiral very quickly out of control. We should probably honestly take the time to edit our stories once we realize our mistake. I'm going to edit the two of mine really quick if that's okay.

You make a good point, Chromy.

As long as you guys aren't making huge errors, I might say something but I'm not the kind of guy to make a big deal about it.

Still, I have said before that the point of this clan -- besides having fun and serving a number of purposes in the wRHG -- is to give people some of the tools and opportunities to improve/practice their writing skills.

Monthlies aren't just obligatory pieces that you have to turn out -- they are works of writing, writing that should be groomed to its best possible condition. Now, I'm not saying obsess over things here, but just give them a bit more thought.

And, if in doubt, PM me. When I do post your story, Cruel, I will be tweaking that statement about the Clinic...most likely by adding the words "organization behind" or something along those lines.

Chromy, I guess I should probably give you guys access to the Gdocs I've created...once my internet issues get fixed and things like gdocs load well for me, I'll do just that. In the meantime, please send me in PM a summary of your edits (or post them in this thread) so that I know what to change.

Thanks guys so much, btw. You make for a great clan.

UPDATES
First off, what the fuck is Tryout A?

Tryout A was supposed to be the story of how Dante got involved with Nehushtan in the first place, or in short, my tryout which, for whatever reason, I wasn't asked to make. This left some rather notable gaps in Dante- and the Coils' combined history that will remain unfilled for the time being. My "tryout" has since merged with the pitch for a proposed sequel to Alph and I's first collab- "Cast Asunder (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?99873-Cast-Asunder)" and at this point I'm just calling it "Led Astray." I will not be posting spoilers regarding Led Astray as there is currently nothing worth spoiling where this story is concerned. I'll work this out with Alph sometime later.
First off, what the fuck is Tryout B?

I am calling RichardLongflop's tryout "Tryout B." Tryout B is not my story. I am helping with it, but it is not my story. It has no direct relation to "Tryout A," we just don't have a title for it so I'm calling it Tryout B. I am handing it off for the time being, and it will be completed whenever Dick damn well pleases. The "Regarding Retcons" spoiler section should help explain how this story, as well as Alph & I's other stories can exist co-concurrently with no real sweat.

"Yeah, the barn down by the creek. I’m happy I’m on the other end a town. Also steer clear of that Se7en guy, eats dicks for breakfast, like rice. Hundreds by the bowl. Fuck, must have to castrate a shit ton of mice to get a bowl of dicks that loaded. Puts in the effort, that one.”Alright. So at one point, I said something about wanting to go back and change things in my monthly, or rather- retcon them out. After some thought, I am planting my foot down and saying the exact opposite. These are my stories, and if any detail of them is causing anachronisms for anyone currently, it will be up to them to handle them for the time being, as I feel I am already doing everything in my power to make this continuity work and continue writing for it.

A couple details in my past two monthlies caused issue, or- issue in my eyes, at the time. In my first monthly, a portion of the plot centered around the "interns at the clinic." I was later informed that the clinic did not have interns. Sorry, not sorry, the clinic had interns, at least if Dante is to be believed. The next set of "anachronisms," springing from my second story, were somewhat more purposeful. The first "anachronism" was that Doctor Macbeth created two of his reflections at once- one of himself, and one of Dante; a feat he is supposedly incapable of. The second "anachronism" was that neither of these reflections were blinked out of existence by David, and are probably still running around somewhere. Oops.

But yeah, having two Doctors and two Dante's means Richard can use / make reference to our characters in the tryout story without it affecting our personal stories all that much at the current time. The same would then go for any possible new recruits or NPCs we would want to bring into the fold- as we now have the option of saying that that not-Dante and not-Doctor are both just out recruiting folks, so I'll be keeping the stories as they are. That in mind, watch out for retcons and anachronisms in the future, as I expect them to become a talking point as our continuity begins to come into its own.@Alphaeus, @Kamiroo
You two. Get a room.

Sounds great, Chromy.

As for the mix-ups, like I said to you previously (and will now restate for official affirmation), none of these violate my overall mental plot-lines for the clan.

The interns are fine, and I've actually referenced them briefly in one of my stories now -- after all, now that the Clinic's business has taken off, David would need more help.

As for the extra rogue Reflections -- I gave Chromy a huge long explanation of how that could be possible due to Chaos and the wonderful world of my literary universe. These Reflections do exist -- please, however, keep their usage to a minimum for important works. Or at least see Chromy or me regarding usage of these rogue Reflections. As much as possible, make use of the REAL chars rather than the Reflections, for storyline reasons.

Thanks!

(Also, have your keys ready -- November WILL have another monthly....)

Dante is Nehushtan's plant in other organizations. Some might go so far as to call him Nehushtan's sexual-implant. A somewhat high and doped up sexual-implant.

What has just been stated, however, will be officially and vehemently denied to all media broadcast stations. Any attempt to release this information will be seen as an attack and Altaer will have to make use of his secret Overbody state to permanently disassemble your soul somewhere inside of a pocket-dimension of the paraelemental plane created by his powers as one of only two Chaos Deities.

I actually had to speak with Azzy about that because he wrote Altaer contrary to Altaer's own char page on certain points, but it was too late by the time I read his story so...there you have it. Also, Altaer has gone through The Change since then.

Considering that was a clan with a super-fucker alien, teleporting-shapeshifting-wyverns, demon-hunting manakins, plus a horde of interfering powerful NPCs....and you're not, don't brag. Besides...handy is (eventually) joining (as soon as he gets around to finishing his entry piece with Chromy).

Doubling posting...but this is on purpose because it is actually an announcement:

The Chaoids -- aka Rogue Reflections -- (Yes, I will include a link shortly) are officially canon. They form a new branch of Nehushtan I have named The Brood of Nehushtan. I will be adding them to the clan page, the Organization list (under Nehushtan, that is), as well as to my own Char page (I assume Chromy will add them to Dante's char page as well).

I'm currently creating this information as I go, so stay tuned to updates on their nature, capabilities, equipment, purpose, etc.

Currently there are only two [Image (Chaoid Dr. MacBeth) and Delta Shift (Chaoid Dante)], but in the coming months there might be a number of new ones created. If you want one to be made of your char, contact me, btw.

Again, get your keyboards ready to prepare for the November monthly. I will be posting that on...Monday, I think.

Image couldn't create Chaoids anyway due to the overall Laws of Chaos in my universe. He's technically a Pure Chaos being (though far less powerful than Altaer), so there will be changes in that regard. He can create Reflections, though. And they are as powerful as their original counterparts.

Chromy and I are the only ones authorized currently to do this, and we have our own "resource management" rules. Additionally, the Chaoids are strictly organizational NPCs, meaning they have extremely limited impact on PvP battles.

Essentially, they are canon, but not for major use in battles (sideline usage is fine, though).

Yes, people,I noticed. Also, considering Azure noticed this page(senpai), can I get a clarification on whether, say, if I fight I'llpayus, and he has an NPC (Alltyres) and I have an NPC(Sleepnear), then can they fight in the background, as long as the focus is on the actual gladiators (Scottish Play vs Wonderland)?

And I meant that considering all the other clans (except the Sanctuary) seem horrifically underpowered compared to you, I was hoping you wouldn't bring them in to look at, say, Bad Manners (B.M-gaming term monogram thingies are... oh nevermind. just laugh at my wordplay like all of these other brackets) or Beautiful Creatures, in order to rekt shit up fam.

Now...

More Announcements:

I'm going to be doing clan work while you guys are working on the monthlies (I'm doing the monthly too, btw).

First, I'm going to try to compile Cruel's clan work like I have that of my other members.

Secondly, based off of a talk with Chromy, I've decided to make

THE BOOK OF NEHUSHTAN!!

This will be a single Gdoc that contains ALL stories EVER written in relation to Nehushtan. Each story will equal one "chapter." Each chapter will be placed in chronological order by over-arching canonical timeline. Every time a new story is written, I will add a new chapter. Currently I estimate that we have over 100 pages already.

I will format it (if I can figure it out) so that you will be able to use the Gdoc Nagivation Pane to filter through the Gdoc (which will be linked on the front of the clan page as well as several other locations) to get to any story you choose.

In short, Nehushtan and The Coils are getting their own Lore. :stickpage:

It is my goal to have this project done before Valentines, although IRL I might finish it much sooner than that.

Keep up the good work, guys!

@Cruel:
Yeah good luck with the Freelancing, boi. Edit slipped past me til Alph made that last post.

As for the whole book thing, I mentioned the idea of like a... start to finish wRHG timeline type thing on the Sanctuary thread a while back I think- just to make it easier to keep track of everybody's stuff and kinda weed out anachronisms and help fill plot holes. While we've pretty much realized that such a task would be... pretty hard to take on all in one go, Alph stepped up and said well- at least we can do Nehushtan's storyline. Once all the stories are in order, I myself very much look forward to seeing where all the other stories and characters may then be considered, in some capacity, a part of our canon, or inversely- how many characters, and how many writers, we through this project and all others, may have in some ways touched.

But not in a weird way.

Alphaeus
11-25-2016, 08:42 AM
how many writers, we may have in some ways touched.

But not in a weird way.

Speak for yourself, you bearded pedo troll.

On a more serious note:

So, I've been making progress on the Book...my stories (and my collab with Chromy) start the canon, so that makes life easy.

Google is being an asshat about applying the table of contents add-on for me, so trying to deal with that.

I'm going to be including most/all of the stories that are canonical from all of The Coils members during this time period. That includes some stories that might not be DIRECTLY related to Nehushtan. I'm doing this because I think it would be useful to know how certain events happened in sequence with the ones that DID directly involve Nehushtan.

Also, I'm upping my page projection to 150. :P

Moirai - Overture
>

Hello all. On the first reply to this thread, you may have noticed a very short story entitled smoke + mirrors. This story was intended as an abstract opening/introduction, or overture, to the clan that will become known as Moirai. I have since chosen to expand upon this story as a leadup to the original opening collab for the clan, in the hopes of giving further insight into the whereabouts of Dante, Rhami, and Astor (characters which I was granted / have retained a level of control over for the leadup, duration, and aftermath of this arc), relative to these events.
>

Moirai - Overture is, at the time of this message's original posting, being pitched as a two-part interlude short, featuring the currently released A-side, smoke + mirrors followed by the currently unreleased B-side one + two that together serve as prelude to the now drafted opening collab, pending revisions. Overture centers around the moments and days before Dante and the duo's (presumably temporary) departure from their shared living space in late December of 2016, while my (currently projected) later solo stories, battles, non-Moirai story collabs, etc- will recommence on around New Year's Eve of the same canon year, at which time Dante will be out and about, likely in search of a drink.

smoke + mirrors

Enveloped between beauty and beast (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?54693-Rhami-and-Astor-Ready) at the foot of a piano, Dante (http://forums.stickpage.com/showthread.php?46051-Dante-quot-Delta-quot-Rockwell) reaches slowly outwards, playing softly his greatest trick. His voice is strained. His fingers tremble at the keys.

_"Shadows all around you as you surface from the dark"
_"Emerging from the gentle grip of night's unfolding arms"
_"Darkness, darkness everywhere, do you feel all alone?"
_"The subtle grace of gravity, the heavy weight of stone"

_"You don't see what you possess, a beauty calm and clear"
_"It floods the sky and blurs the darkness like a chandelier"
_"All the light that you possess is skewed by lakes and seas"
_"The shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe"

_"I will bring a mirror, so silver, so exact"
_"So precise and so pristine, a perfect pane of glass"
_"I will set the mirror up to face the blackened sky"
_"You will see your beauty every moment that you rise"

<T̨̗̞̞͇͈̲ḨE̱̰̱͡ ̬͟E̞̪N͕͖D̥̮̣̖̼͇>one + two

Dante plopped the last bag of groceries on the table and smiled, staring longingly at the space just to the left of Rhami. Astor, who in the form of a cat was curled up around Dante's foot, pawing upwards, recognized the cue and opened up the doorway into to his and Rhami's shared consciousness.

{What?} Rhami teased, examining humorously the curious expression hidden away behind Dante's predominantly blank face.
<I just got the week off,> Dante chuckled in disbelief, <Paid leave- Doctor's orders. When I head back in it'll be January.>
{Didn't they want you at that event?} Rhami reflected.
<They did,> Dante acknowledged, <But Dee-Dee volunteered to sub in for a bit. Said he'd try and get info on Abra and the other NCs if he could, but that nobody's digging up anything new anymore, Al should be on site, and that they aren't expecting another incident this year. And since I already wrapped that gift...>
{You're free.} Rhami smiled in tune with Dante. One of the benefits of a psychic connection.
<For all of next week, plus the two weekends- before and after. All I have to do is stay indoors and keep out of trouble, and Dee-Dee says he'll handle the rest. Says with the work the Docs have him on this year, this is as close to a vacation he's likely to get. Told him he could have Easter if he needed it. But you know how he likes to work.>
She did. And she loved him for it.

Astor, who had been quiet up to now, clearly preoccupied with the act of laying stretched out in the exact center of the kitchen walkway, papped his foot on the tile floor pridefully and with care. [Excellent work, Striker of Nehushtan,] he boomed [May we soon feast to your honor.]

<v^x^v>

Admittedly, a couple of roast beef & tomato sandwiches with chips was a ways away from what should be considered a feast, but a meal was a meal, and it had certainly been a good one. Rhami had managed to coax Astor off the floor and into human form, poking fun at how lazy the beast had grown these past few months, and so they all sat together on the couch to eat, while they each took turns flipping through channels on the TV. It was rather euphoric, maintaining a live feed of thoughts, feelings, and the occasional sensation as seemingly ordinary, everyday tasks were lived out. They'd all grown accustomed to it on some level- Rhami and Astor most of all, but Dante in particular had a habitual and increasingly peculiar, though not unwelcome, buzz to him from day to day, to pair with his habitual and increasingly peculiar, not unwelcome life. While the others were in no way excluded from this, together they exuded a counterbalancing sense of calm, that steadied the ship, steadied the mind, and eased the heart- whereas Dante was often more turbulent, independent of the two shared minds, leaning more the persuasion of rocking the boat. Today resumed a slow build, a slow wave, which hummed softly throughout the group's shared space, growing not in tempo but in amplitude; higher highs and lower lows, in a familiar pattern. The change was subtle, but clearly within the realm of perception. The three were growing closer and their hearts were growing fonder. The separation of Dante from the hivemind for the act of sleep left both parties with a more-than-noticeable vacuum that longed for feelings of connection and warmth, though it was nothing either couldn't take on separate of the other.

<v^x^v>

It was not until about 6am the next morning, after a short night of sleep, when it dawned on Dante that he had never changed out of his work clothes. Upon his noticing this, Dante extricated himself from the blanket and looked himself up and down in the mirror. He couldn't see a damn thing of course- as it was not only before sunrise, but his bedroom was without windows- but it didn't take a genius to figure out that he looked and felt like a well-dressed, though sweaty, bedraggled bum. This could be remedied, though.

Though it was not visible in the low lighting, Dante knew he was currently dressed in a long-sleeved white collared shirt with black pants, socks, and probably underwear. As it was now the 24th, Christmas Eve, this meant a change into a pre-Christmas sweater and some sweatpants, both of which should be far less sweaty as Dante carried out his day. Dante's hair must also be deraggled and cleansified.

A shower was deemed necessary.

<v^x^v>

About an hour later, Dante exited the door to his room, clad in the outfit from earlier, as well as a pair of fluffy white slippers, each foot styled in the image of a tiger of the aforementioned complexion. Astor, who in the form of a bird was caught red-beaked in the process of devouring a salmon in the sink, expressed strong nonverbal disapproval of Dante's footwear, before returning to his meal. Rhami merely sifted through a bowl of cereal disinterestedly. The whole room smelled fishy, and Dante suspected Astor was to blame for this.

"Y'know I was gonna cook that tonight," Dante stated of the salmon.
"Astor says he likes it raw," Rhami relayed, "Wriggling." Her voice was a little scratchy this morning.
"That right, A?" Dante questioned the falcon.
Astor cawed, and Dante chuckled a bit, wiping the feathers near the edges of his beak. Poor bird was getting bits of salmon all over him. The two had been in the city with him for a while now, and were likely eager to get back to the woods. He supposed that was what this was all about. He'd need to go hiking with them again sometime. They liked hikes.

Dante and Rhami looked over at each other at about the same time. Rhami then smiled and laughed down at her cereal, while Dante smirked and gave Astor a pat on the wing.

"Guessing you two are going out, then?" Dante grinned.
"Yeeah," Rhami tremoloed, "-for the day~"
Dante's grin never left him as he turned to open the refrigerator door. "Well then we might need a little more food," he paused to say, moving the milk away from the vegetables, so as to reach the pie which was under the vegetables, before putting back the vegetables, putting the pie on the counter and the milk on the counter next to it.

Rhami was puzzled. "More?"
"Yes," Dante smiled, pulling the whipped cream out from behind the cranberry sauce, cans of corn, and a wrapped corner of a roast beef & tomato sandwich. "I'm hibernating," he explained.
Rhami was incredulous. "But that's a week's worth of food!"
"I know," Dante winked. "But that salmon could've been a second meal. Like how this pie," he chagrined, "-could've been eaten over two to three nights, but will now be devoured by tomorrow morning."
"You wouldn't!" Rhami cried.
"I will!" Dante grinned, cutting into the pie. "Seriously though, it's no big deal- just something I'm trying to watch out for. Since I'm more or less on house arrest, if we run out of food I'll have to order in more, or you'll need to be the one to get it. Unless something happens and they call me in, in which case I'd go run errands while I'm out."
"Expecting trouble?" Rhami frowned, as Dante opened up the whipped cream.
"No," Dante shrugged. "But I didn't last year either. Just trying to stay on the safe side this year. That okay?"
Rhami stood and laughed. And with Astor too preoccupied to relay their thoughts, Dante was left in the dark for a moment as to why. "What?" he asked, confused.

She took her time in answering, forcing Dante to watch her acutely as she placed her empty bowl on the counter and walked to face him. She was short and sweet, but there was certainly a fury to her. In the times they'd sparred, even alone Dante knew even alone she could pull out a win. Astor was perched intently now to his side. Dante's admiration for the two was rooted in the idea that he could never beat the duo on even terms, and they liked to revel in this idea from time to time- particularly come morning.

Seeing Dante tensed up and with chills down him only served to mellow Rhami's laughter. She no longer trembled with it, but the glint in her eye remained. "You've changed since last Christmas," she noted, looking Dante up and down.
Stiffly reaching for his pie, he raised an eyebrow. "Good change?" he asked.
"Hell yeah," she chortled. "You should've seen you."
"I did," Dante laughed, "I really did."
"And last night..." Rhami continued. "Last night was good. Great," she even said, moving a step closer. "And we'll be back for... Christmas, and-"
"Second Christmas," Dante mused.
"And New Year's," Rhami simpered.
"All... the way.. through the.. twelfth.. day."
"And after."
"And after."

<v^x^v>

Dante spent the first part of the day nervously glazing over camera footage, requesting briefings, and keeping up with the activities of the Coils, as well as Sanctuary's pending ACRs. He had turned down the last few contracts, and knew that they had more than likely been passed on. Next he looked up and down his allies confirmed and projected kill, battle, win, loss, and potential/active battle statistics, which even going into the holidays, had piled up almost as quickly as his work email. It had dawned on Dante some time ago that he may be hanging with the wrong crowd.

Next he sorted through fan-mail, which he had managed to filter from his business email, which as usual was filled with the strangest combination of death threats, fan-art, erotica, erotic fan-art, favor requests, battle requests, business inquiries, and people in dire need of a therapist, with Dante replying to the latter as best and light-heardedly as he could. It had become a chore to him, and one that left him severely off-kilter.

Off-kiltered Dante then nearly poured his cup in the washing machine and a sock in the dishwasher, before then eventually washing the towels and drying the dishes with a washed towel that was now dirty and not dry that would have to be separated from the rest and dealt with later; a task which Dante was not quite prepared to comprehend. Now singing to himself, Dante set his dry clothes aside to play a couple instruments and clear his mind.

So it's looking like this is going to have to serve as my monthly for this month.
My plan was- and still is- to take what I have written here and elsewhere and expand upon it.
That said, I cannot tell the whole story, as I would have liked, at this time.
There are still some pieces missing.

The full story of Overture, (versus just the bit I wound up posting for Moirai) is expected to detail events relating to not only Dante and his housemates, but his Chaoid counterpart, David's Chaoid counterpart, the collapse of the Nehushtan organization, which will inevitably have to be made to fit in with this storyline, bits and pieces from the latest Secret Santa Event, the Moirai collaborative opening, and so on.

That said, I'm happy with what I have so far. If you haven't already, you may want to give this a read.

Expect a few edits to this post down the line, and if you have any questions about the direction I am taking with these next few stories, please ask away.

LOL, Urako...

So, first off, David can't loose the Coils. People like Dante and Altaer and Dracustos and Zoe and Valera are too happy with things the way they are. Leikani's good, but she's not THAT good.

Secondly, The Coils is also an OOC cross-canon meta because it is a Clan. So, technically, it CAN'T just be "gotten rid off" because that would destroy the Clan for all the other members, not just me.

So I think we're good here. Altaer, as I stated in the collab (which you obviously cannot read because I have not posted it) is going to be watching her. That's his assignment. And, as he put it, if Leikani pulls something she'll "end up with her arms sticking out of her ears." AKA dismemberment.

LASTLY, OOC EB is in this clan for writing reasons. I doubt he'd want to destroy that, at least not any time soon.

Announcement:

So, as you guys might have noticed, I haven't posted my usual monthly like I said I would. That's because, first, I need to get back on schedule.

Secondly, I'm retrofitting how I'm doing things. My current plans with monthlies were just to get us rolling, not a permanent fit. I'm planning on creating a structure that more accurately reflects what it means to be in The Coils.

I hope to have this up and ready by the end of January. Also, I haven't been updating the Book of Nehushtan because Gdocs is being a pain...bear with me.

Lastly, I'm going to be moving Cruel into a different member category due to inactivity. As of right now from my convos with him IRL needs to be his focus, thus preventing him from regularly participating in the clan. When he moves back into an active status I will return his char to a full-fledged active member.

UPDATE and ASSIGNMENTS

Alright...sooo

First, I'm not demoting Cruel yet. Honestly, we only have one prospective member right now, and we still have room. So, there simply isn't a reason to do so. He's still interested, so...I'm leaving him.

Secondly....

MONTHLIES!!!

This one will be due by the beginning of March (although I might adjust that date).

We are doing...

JOBS!!

Your chars each have a job in Nehushtan. It's time they start doing them!

So, here are your assignments:

Dante: Your job is to hunt down information critical to Nehushtan. Right now, our biggest target is Viktor Gustav...the traitor. NCO runs a close second, although that is more of Altaer's personal interest.

Zoe: Your job is to overcome your inner self. Work for the good of another...better still, use your powers for the good of another.

Dracustos: Your job is to be a protector. Watch over the Serpents of Nehushtan...there are always those in danger who will need your strength and honor.

Leikani: Your job is to find those who are a danger to Nehushtan...as well as those who would make valuable allies. Do this (either/or/both) with at least two "people" (aka chars, npcs, or persons of your own creation). Elimination and recruitment are both valid options.

Great job, both of you! It's been great seeing what the two of you in particular, with a few gentle nudges from Alph, have done with the story thus far, and I suppose the best way for me to transition into this is that the last thing I want to do is derail that in any real capacity. I will more than likely be writing behind the lot of you for the next few months.

The Big Boss is back, Baby. IRL has been dealt with (mostly happily so), so I'll be getting back to normal-ish (maybe a bit slower than before for awhile, we'll see). This coming week expect my Gdoc to go up for your joining story. Generally speaking these are short with people that I know can write well, mostly just keeping things in context.

ALSO....

This fall I'm planning to do some work on the Book of Nehushtan. Tons has happened, and will try to get it up to speed (so damn big my shitty satellite internet lags out now...lol).

Welcome to the clan, Ignus. And a nice collab out of you and Alph. I haven't gotten around to reading the new chapter of Bloodlines yet, because I wanted to get a few things out of the way. First thing's first, I'm starting to shift away a little from Dante as the primary lead in my stories, but just to be clear, nothing is really happening to him in terms of his character. He's going to keep doing Dante stuff in Dante-land for a bit and if you want to do a story or collab with him hit me up and we can work it out. At this point in Dante's story, it's still January, and some things have happened between his last few appearances that we're still a little vague on. For one, Dante asked for some vacation time, and we can assume he had a happy New Year's. There's still a collab or two I'm trying to work into that timeslot.

But yeah, I wrote another one shot gap-filler to lead him more into February. That's what's in the spoiler tab down below.

January 22nd, 2017
8:02

Dante Rockwell was sitting at a computer wearing his own merch. His grey lettermans, emblazoned in white and navy blue stripes at the cuff and collar, would be hitting the market in the coming weeks, and he’d been trying out the new look after the first shipment had been sent in. Under the jacket was one of his limited stock Delta symbol tees, not unlike the one he’d gifted Ethernu not four weeks back.

He was starting to feel comfortable here at home, staring at the monitor of his Spectre-fitted CPU whilst clad in custom-built clothes and newly needed readers, but not just that. He felt old -- old and sleazy, and that’s exactly what the fuck he was at 8:02am of January 2nd in the year 2017. He wanted breakfast, and new better than to bother to ask. It would come. Like clockwork.

8:34 and eggs were sizzling in the other room. The pretty bird Astor had found his way to his perch in the minutes prior. Dante hadn’t seen him enter, now or ever. Ever the dynamic duo, Astor tended the nest whilst Rhami seasoned the omelets.

Saturdays were like this -- Sundays too. The mornings started early as ever, with sweat and bruises before sunrise, hot showers and achy lethargy. Sometimes the order varied, but these days it usually ended this way; Dante looking one way, Rhami another, and Astor off doing Astor things. Halle had left them some time ago, and with most of Sanctuary and the Coils off elsewhere, the house felt empty.

As if on cue, though more to Dante’s dissonance, Rhami pulled up a chair and quietly announced that breakfast was ready in the other room. Rhami, meanwhile, was ready in Dante’s office. Closing his browser and turning to her, he nodded and fumbled with his glasses. Rhami, Astor and Dante were not used to Dante’s new glasses. Astor thought he looked strange in them.

For whatever reason reserved with her thoughts this morning, Rhami continued to speak ambiguously aloud. “Astor, would you mind?” she asked, keeping her gaze on Dante and the computer screen.

Astor didn’t seem to mind, having taken human form and walking off to the kitchen to fetch the three their plates, as Dante didn’t seem to have moved from his computer, and Rhami didn’t seem to have moved from Dante. Having never properly removed his new readers, Dante lowered his hand from his head. He could tell what she was here to ask, he thought, and glancing from her to the computer, he cleared his breath before speaking.

“So uh,” he began, “Halle and the others are where we last saw them. Sanctuary’s still… y’know, Nehushtan’s still-“ he gestured, “-But I did… run those leads you gave me on Absconsa. And Spectre was just saying that we might be onto something with that. Across the board, whether it’s.. like.. the chaoid missions, the.. Ne -- the coup, y’know, from Viktor, even down to the NCO stuff that Al was ranting about, it’s-“

Astor was back with three plates of scrambled eggs, bacon, and veggies, and Rhami still hadn’t said anything.

“There are anachronisms, y’know, like – how did this happen so quickly compared to this thing, or this event here – we don’t really know what caused it, or where this came from or that, and it’s usually small things, very small things, but across the board it feels like.. in certain instances people just seem to be drifting off into who knows where, or obstacles seem to be appearing, that are preventing people from doing the sorts of things that from what you were saying, and we were just talking about – about Absc-“

Rhami took a bite of her breakfast.

“-Absconsa, there’s like.. a pattern, to it, consistent with – Absconsa, I guess, so, well..”

Astor took a bite of his breakfast.

“Yeah.”
