    DBZ Pivot Animation

I was watching some DBZ Pivot Fights and I really wanted to make one of them. It's only my second pivot, so tell me what you think.

I can't make links to youtube, so if you could please copy and paste this link into a different tab, it'd be greatly appreciated.

My thoughts before I even look at it are "Oh, Christ, not another one." I'll edit some cc into this post in a second, but I'll say before I even start that:

    1. It's not a good idea to post your animations on Youtube. Use www.imageshack.us instead.

    2. DBZ animations almost never look good. People get too tied up in effects and don't know the basics before they do them. It might be possible to do one and make it look good if you know how to use pivot well, but I've never seen an experienced animator even attempt it.

    3. Generally we would say that your second animation should go in the beginners section.

Now let's follow this link shall we? brb

    Edit: Your second?

It's not exactly epic, but I must say I'm impressed considering. I was expecting choppy, uneased, noobishness with a dash of pure idiocy but actually it could have been worse.

    It was well eased.

There was little stiffness (except the part where he does the spinning kick and the bit at the beginning before it gets going). This is particularly impressive since the sticks were hovering - most people would have just left them still.

The effects were reasonably well used and you didn't use too many of them.

My criticisms would be that you need to work on the more basic aspects of walking and ensuring that all the limbs bend the way they're supposed to. Also, I think too much of the animation was sprites. Overall what was there was impressive, but it didn't necessarily reflect your ability as an animator. There was no way for us to see how you are with physics, for instance, as the laws of nature appear to be suspended for these DBZ fights. The stuff that you did animate was done well. For a second animation your easing and reduction of stiffness is remarkable, but it is also a bit basic. Your Youtube video is getting consistantly ranked 5 stars because it looks good, but I think if you were to replace the DBZ sticks with ordinary stick men and remove the effects then it would be more mediocre. You're about med-beginner.

1.) I post on youtube because I got some fans on there and I wanted to add in some sounds and music.

2.) I know most people think DBZ animations look choppy in parts and un-eased and that's why people make them, but I wanted to outrule that nasty rumor that goes around because there are really good DBZ animators out there...and I'm not gona lie they put in nice effects which really is hard to do...that was my hardest thing to tell you the truth. The effects, I had so much trouble with them, I said fu*k it, I'm gona use a sprite.

3.) I'm sorry I didn't post in the begginers section, that was a fail on my part D:

Although, I am very grateful that you even looked at it in the first place and It's good to hear you at-least appreciate it. I tried making it look like they were flying, so I tried moving some of their joints to like move in the wind. I know it's stiff, I know there's flaws and I'm sorry, but it's my second animation and it took me forever. I was just trying to make it the best I could to my abilities.

If you truly want to see a animation....one that's not "DBZ style" then go back to my channel and look at my other pivot. It's my only other one and it's my "first ever". After reading over your comment, I realize my first animation is the kind of standards you look at. It's definitely not my best compared to the DBZ fight, but it should rule out the DBZ effects. So if you feel it's easier, go ahead and rank me on that.

Even your first is better than some. A few walk tests and a bit of practice and you could be quite good.
