It's the worst when English companies don't even try, and just flat out script the subtitles word for word.
Have you ever seen Garzey's Wing? You need to see the dub for it, it wins my best "so bad it's hilarious" dub award by a long shot.

well your ass is on the wrong penis.
    technically i am tho.
in book 2 there's this story about wan that's pretty cool, but other than that you're not missing much. cool fight scenes and the world is out of balance shit. story was bigger than the first one, but also more flawed. i feel mixed about the ending; the final battle was "ehhh..." but the overall resolution was nice.
book 3 had fucking awesome villains(episode 4.). that last battle was super rad. think of the final battle in book fire only with less shades of red and skin.

it's like a battle shounen. only well written.

Just finished Okami-San and her Seven Companions.
It was better than I expected it to be though pretty short and kind of a let down at the end.

I don't think I fully understand what Slice of Life is. Can someone explain?

I've always just assumed it's a genre about people doing everyday things, albeit in a more interesting way. IIRC K-on!, Lucky Star, Kill me Baby and those kinds of anime are Slice of Life. Like, there's no real overaching plot, it's more about characters interacting with each other.

Goddamn, pick a broader genre to have someone explain next time...

Slice of life is generally anything where the emphasis is on the daily life of usually ordinary people, it focuses of either the completely mundane aspects of these characters lives or key moments for those characters, but the focus is on these moments alone and not some kind of narrative, meaning these moments are usually stand alone and are almost a slice of that characters life. Because of that the shows are very character driven instead of story driven and generally hinges on how interesting/likable those characters are.

Look through the examples, that's how broad it is...

Would you categorize GTO as Slice of Life or Coming of Age? I dunno...

You can't have aspects of both? Why do you need to label it one or the other?

Can't it be a coming of age slice of life comedy school drama?

Obviously a piece of fictional medium will more often than not cover multiple genres, but there are instances where certain genres are more emphasized or more apparent than the others. That's what I'm asking.
