    A Writing Musclebuilding Thread

Hello, friends. A good fellow of mine likes to say that writing a lot is like a muscle that needs to develop. It's hard to do at first, but with practice and repetition it becomes progressively easier to do until it becomes a natural as any other routine in your day. That's what this thread is going to be about. For anyone who chooses to join, including myself, it's all about getting us to write something creatively every day, until it becomes a habit. This is to help develop creative writing into a part of your lifestyle, which is something I've wanted to do for a long time.

Basically, starting a day or so from now after seeing how many people would like to join me, once a day I'd like you all to open up your writing program of choice and simply WRITE. This is all there is to writing, and yet it's what holds 80% of writers back from doing anything at all. A good writer doesn't write a lot because every day he feels the burning desire and passion to write before he even sits down to do it. That feeling comes AFTER you fight through the procrastination urges, the excuses, the feeling that you'd rather do something else. 99% of the time, that wonderful feeling that comes from writing and loving what you're doing comes... From actually writing. Who woulda thunk it?

And so, successful writers are not simply people lucky enough to feel inspiration bursting from their minds every single day. They are disciplined writers who sigh, put off the things they'd rather be doing, and get to work. And the results are fantastic.

It's really not that hard to do, either. When it comes to writing, it's not something to be done just when you have nothing else to do. Writing is something to actually make time out of your day for, and to stick to that routine once you find what works for you.

So how this thread will work is that you can all pick a number of your choosing (but not too high right away lest you get burnt out), and then from the day we begin until you decide to stop, simply write that many words a day. Every day. You can take two days out of the week to serve as your "weekends" If you want, but on your days of writing, you're expected to write, and get those muscles building.

You can write about anything. Literally anything, and that's the true wonder of writing. You can write about your wRHG if you really want to, or you can write a short excerpt following a space battle that happens hundreds of years from now. You could write a poem, or simply record the jumble of thoughts going on in your head. The important thing is to write, and to always push yourself to do your best.

And then you can post your writing here, so that we know you did your writing for the day Others are free to give friendly CnC, but keep it to a sentence or two describing what you thought of it.

It's actually not that complicated. Sign up, tell me how many words you'd like to do in a day and any break days you want, and once you're started you can increase or decrease that number as you wish. As long as you're writing. I'll be here trying to set a good example

    Entrants:
    -Devour
    Words a day: 300
Break days: Saturday and Sunday nights. They're my days off from work, so I'll be relaxing then.

    -ErrorBlender
    Words a day: 500
Break days: Saturday and Sunday too.

    -Vern
    Words a day: 200
    Monday and Tuesday

    -Chamel
    Words a day: 200
    Break days: Sunday and Monday

    -Crank
    Words a day: 300
    Break days: ...2 a week

    -SaulMurphy
Words: 100 - 1000 (Could get a little into something, or could be rambling a short idea)
Off days: No more than 2 days of a week.

    -Aquila
    Words a day: 400
    Break days: Any two days

    -Waffles Mcgee
    Words a day: 200+
    Break days: Thursday and Friday

    -Haru
    Words a day: 200
    Break days: Monday and Wednesday

    Zero
    Words per day: 300 - 400
    Breakdays: Sunday

The more the merrier. But I'm serious enough about this that I'll do it myself, too. But I'd love for anyone else who wants to write a lot to join me.

Heh, a lot of what you say is true here I myself have written enough that it goes naturally by now, but I lack the discipline of writing on a regular base, and rather always write when I feel like it (which, to be fair, is not as much as you'd think). I have ambitions in writing, however, and an exercise such as this could be key for me to improve on my already existing skills, and create some sort of discipline which I completely lack...

So yeah, this seems ideal to me. I'd love to join in, though I can't begin writing any sooner than next Monday as I have a rather big assignment that needs to be finished by then.

I'll begin with a minimum of 200 words each day, though I will gradually increase this number as time goes on . Break days would be Monday and Tuesday as I usually have lots of homework by Tuesday, and Tuesday itself is a quite rough day and I'd like my free time that day.

Consider me part of this starting from next Monday ;3 (I'll make an exception on my break days then to get started).

I'll get on this as practice for my English final in 2 weeks. Expect 600-900 words every two days, but the topics will be relevant to questions from past English papers. I'll start tomorrow.

Damn, I'm really torn about this! My schedule has a bad habit of shifting around and I typically have a couple 13-14 hour shifts a week. Do you care if my days off bounce around so long as I keep it locked in at 2?
