and now for the battle itself:
The Battle Itself (Click to Show)
A strong breeze blew over the plain, caused by the being who flew overhead. He landed in the center of a field, his energy scorching the grass beneath his feet. His visor's glow assisting the moon in illuminating the grassland in front of him. Prodigy stepped forward, meticulously scanning his surroundings, looking for any hint of the creature that had been reported here.
About a week ago a man had gone missing. The search party from the nearby village had stumbled upon a deep series of caves that led underground near the area. Upon further inspection they had found the dwelling of some kind of monster. The body of the missing man had been placed on the wall of the cave, his face broken and twisted to resemble a grimace of a smile.
Prodigy walked forward until he found the cave of which the villagers spoke. The hero descended into the darkness, his visor providing the night vision he needed to see. He followed the villager's instructions as he descended further into the Earth. Before long he came upon the dwelling they spoke of.
Several skeletons in varying states of decay were attached to the walls. Numerous strange looking dolls lay in a heap nearby. Prodigy entered further into the area before stopping suddenly. A curious clicking was coming from the ceiling. The hero turned his head in the direction of the noise, looking straight upwards. Above him was a network of black arms, stretching across the entire roof of the cave. They all met back into a single central point where a strange head stared back at him. The clicking noise was coming from the thing's mouth.
Aiming a hand skyward, Prodigy released a blast of energy towards the monster. It hit the thing directly in the central mass, blasting it into the cave roof. Prodigy fired several more pulses towards the monster, the force of the blasts pushing it upwards through the solid stone of the cave.
Satisfied that he had blasted the monster enough to destroy a semi, he flew upwards into the falling cloud of dust. Hovering slowly upwards he knew he had to ensure the thing's defeat. Suddenly a massive hand wrapped around his torso. He was slammed into the cave ceiling before getting thrown back to the floor. He landed hard, forming a small crater in the stone beneath him. The thing leapt down from the ceiling, arms covering its form.
Prodigy blasted himself backwards, sloping out of the crater just as the monster landed inside of it, crushing the rocks beneath its hand like they were made of styrofoam. The hero aimed himself at the monster and flew full force into it. His fists made contact with the thing's chest and the two blasted forward. Prodigy slammed the monster into the cave wall, before going through it. The duo dug through the earth at an upwards incline, powering through the stone around them.
They exploded from the cave system, ripping through the dirt and into the open air. Prodigy finally pulled his fist back and slammed it full force into the monster's stomach, blasting it skyward. The thing flew through the air before falling into a heap of arms back towards the earth. As it fell the hero unleashed a barrage of energy blasts, the lights soaring through the night towards the beast. Just as the thing landed back on solid ground the barrage began pummeling it. Small explosions scattered around the thing's position. Finally Prodigy relented, hovering in midair as he surveyed the dust cloud surrounding the outcome of his attack.
Suddenly arms flew at nearly sonic speed out of the cloud, grasping for the hero. He swerved through the air, dodging massive grasping hands as he fired bolts of energy at the new appendages. One of the hands finally caught up to him and grasped his leg. It pulled him back towards the earth, slamming the armored hero against the dirt. It tugged him back towards itself with enough force to rip off any normal man's leg. He was suddenly held up before the thing, the monster's head vibrating rapidly and its teeth a symphony of chittering terror. It pulled back one of its tree trunk sized arms and slammed its fist full force into the man held before it with enough force to create a shockwave.
The hero flew backwards across the grassland. He managed to slow himself to a crawl by blasting energy in the opposing direction. Slowly he came to a complete stop. He hovered himself back to the ground. Just as he touched back down the monster was already upon him, its massive forearms crashing down. He raised his hands and caught the attack in his grasp, the ground beneath him giving out as he was pushed through the soil. He began firing energy out of his boots, forcing the two slowly skyward once more.
Suddenly an arm erupted from the thing's chest. A massive fist slammed into his helmet. He flipped through the air, landing on his feet once more several yards away from the monster. He pumped energy out of his boots, blasting himself towards the beast. The thing pulled a massive arm back for a full fledged punch, while Prodigy did the same. The two fists collided, the monster blasted skyward as Prodigy was punched downwards into the dirt again.
The force of his forward flight carried him forward through the soil, digging a deep gouge through the grasslands. He raised himself from the dirt just as the monster landed several feet away. Allowing the suit to eat at his own energy, he pushed his powers to further limits. His body blurred with speed as he blasted towards the monster again. A barrage of blows slammed into the monster, his fists ripping into the thing's flesh. As it flew backwards from his assault, he rushed behind it, landing a bone-crushing kick directly into its back.
The thing began to fly forward from the force, but before it could get out of reach Prodigy grasped its ankles, which he now noticed were actually wrists for the hands that were its feet. He spun like a whirlwind, swinging the creature around in circles. Once he had picked up enough momentum he released the thing into the air. It flew skyward once more and Prodigy channeled his energy for one large blast. He released the power he had summoned into a massive laser, aimed at the monster. The beam hit the thing and engulfed it in light. The thing writhed in the light, struggling to escape the attack.
Finally the energy fizzled, and Prodigy felt quite drained. The monster landed a few feet in front of him, laying completely still. The hero exhaled heavily before turning away. He didn't risk using any more energy for fear of overloading his body. He started walking the opposite direction of the monster, when he heard the snapping of broken joints behind him. He turned back towards the creature, which had righted itself into an ape-like stance. The beast raised one of its back feet and slammed it into the ground, before doing the same with the other. Its head suddenly split like some sort of monstrous flower, a massive roar escaping the maw that was the thing's skull.
A thick fog began pouring out of the monster's mouth, the sound the loudest thing Prodigy had ever heard. His helmet protected his ears from the damage the noise would of normally caused, his visor brightening as he forced more of his own power into the suit.
Prodigy blasted towards the creature, a sonic boom audible over the sound of the air raid siren emitted from the creature's mouth. Without warning massive arms erupted from the dirt around them, forming a forest of appendages. Prodigy blasted through the first arm in his path, smashing the tree-sized limb in two. Almost instantly the stump in the earth began regenerating a new tree-arm.
Ignoring the woodland of limbs, Prodigy continued towards the monster. The thing grasped towards him as soon as he got in range, his own hands rushing to meet the sudden attack. The two's hands met in a clash of strength. The suit drained energy from Prodigy's body like an exoskeletal vampire, fueling his raw power. He gazed into the creature's open, blooming mouth. He saw a swirling darkness. An infinity of black expanse. However his visor detected movement. A limitless amount of arms swam in an impossible cavern inside the thing, as if the innards of the beast were a separate dimension of limbs. Pushed on by the terror of the thought, Prodigy allowed the suit to absorb as much energy as it needed. He hefted upwards, trying to pull the thing into the sky where he would have the advantage, but the thing was prepared for something like this.
Dozens of arms erupted from the beast, grasping the ground and the arm trees around it, anchoring itself to the planet. A multitude of the new limbs grabbed Prodigy's legs and waist and began tugging him back down towards the ground with enough force to counteract his flight. Feeling his limit approaching, Prodigy unleashed the rest of his energy, blasting himself and the monster skyward. He ripped the beast from the ground, the thing's 'legs' and multitude of arms snapping off. Almost immediately the arm forest around them began to decay, the siren stopped, and the fog stopped flowing. The creature's face began to morph back together, hiding the horrible portal within from view.
The monster spidered around Prodigy as the hero hurled himself and his dreadful passenger upwards. Through his visor the hero could only see a glimpse of the stars as fingers began wrapping themselves around his body. This monster was the deadliest force he had met on Earth, but he wondered how well it would fare in space. His vision began to darken as the suit drank the last of his energy. His body began cramping all over as he forced himself onward.
The two blasted forward before erupting out of Earth's atmosphere. Frost began growing on the creature's leathery flesh as it began to squeeze Prodigy's armor. The hero actually felt the pressure building around him, his near indestructible suit being pushed to the limits by this thing's strength. Frost continued to crystalize on the monster's body. The creature brought itself face to face with Prodigy, the thing's 'eyes' staring at him through his visor. Prodigy's vision faded and the last thing he saw was the monster freezing completely.

Prodigy awoke inside of a crater near the battlefield. Limping, he made his way to the village. Once there he learned the villagers had seen him land, but they had thought it was a shooting star. However they also mentioned a second 'shooting star' landing far away. Prodigy lacked the energy to fly currently, and further use of his own energy risked serious injury.
The hero waited till morning, the sun's rays fueling solar radiation into his suit. Flying towards the direction of the second 'fallen star' yielded nothing more than a crash site where what seemed like a small meteor may have landed. There was no creature. Sonar revealed a deep cave system further ahead. Glancing in the direction of the caves, Prodigy flew skyward and began his trip home. There were some dragons no champion could slay, and there were some monsters in the dark that even heroes would be lucky to survive an encounter with
