I was thinking about if I became paralyzed from the waist down, and was wondering about this myself, and then wondered what other people would think.

Lets say you have some accident and become fully paralyzed from the waist down, no hope of a natural or therapy assisted recovery. Now the medical field comes up with some device that can bridge over the break in your spine or something, which would enable you to move and feel your legs again as normal. Assuming a 100% success rate, how much would this operation need to cost before it would no longer be worth it to you?

It depends. Without the surgery, do I still have the ability to get a boner? Because I can honestly do without my legs in life (I would never choose to, but it is what it is). However, you could make a separate argument about losing one's manhood because people who have lost their dicks are more prone to suicidal tendencies than wheel chair stricken individuals.

As far as surgery goes, Insurance would probably cover most of the charges so I wouldn't have to pay too much. Honestly in a perfect world you shouldn't really have to pay too much for medical treatments considering the whole point is for the betterment of people in general. It's sort of how the pharmaceutical company charges an arm and a leg for really good medicine when they don't need to, but they do out of greed knowing that people will pay for it because they want to live.

For the sake argument, yes dick included.

It's just a hypothetical question. If you had to pay out of pocket, (assuming you can afford the price, but don't have infinite money) where is the line that you would stop and just decide it's not worth it or the money is better spent elsewhere.

You can't put a price on getting a dick back, so there's that

Probably something like $500,000. It would depend how old I was though. If I lost my legs like now or during my twenties, I would fork over the money assuming I could afford it. If I lost my legs during my sixties or even my fifties, I think I'd reconsider it.

Depends on my age and financial situation. If I'm rich and young with no kids I wouldn't mind losing most of my fortune over getting my legs (and my dick) working again, as long as I have enough money for food and housing and basic shit.

Are you talking about here and now? Because that kind of procedure already exists. What's being worked on now is simulating the feeling of having these augmentations, like something out of Deus Ex.

So. If we're talking here and now, it wouldn't have to cost a thing, and if it did it wouldn't be an impossible amount. I'm sure one of these foundations would require a volunteer or a charity case to work on. All you'd need to do is inquire in the proper channels. And paying for them would be just like any other experimental procedure---quite expensive, but not exaggeratingly so much that you would have to give an arm and a leg for another arm and a leg.
