This has definitely been a fun matchup. Also, thanks for helping me get my Dark Force token back, Error. ;) You're a sweetheart.

I hope this doesn't deter Error into going back to Cadenza and urge him to try other characters :D

Hey, the match ain't over till its over. Always an opportunity for a comeback. That said, I'm definitely a fan of Heketch's attack style. I'll probably experiment around, but it seems I work best with "gimmick" characters. The Undead Spriggan slowly ate people alive, and Heketch destroys through hit and runs.

I thought you guys just picked it because you like terror stuff and error likes robots.

But I suppose, there's a reason why ARIA is of a difficult tier. Her fighting style is dependent on positioning. Heketch though is a little weaker without DF and doesn't exactly have range.

So its still balanced

In my case, it was simply ironic. You see, I took all three character spreads you offered and picked a name at random from each of them and looked over their movesets to see which I'd be able to use properly. Regicide Heketch just happened to resonate with me the most of those I picked, so I went with him.

That said, balanced or not, he's certainly got the advantage over ARIA, due to her being reliant on positioning. While it's possible for her to be considerably powerful, she's a ranged combatant; Heketch excels at close range, and can pretty much control the spacing of the battle. Using a Dark Force token alone, I can get by my opponent instantly and get additional priority, but similarly, nearly all of his attacks can utilize his Dark Force token to cripple the opponent as well. For somebody who relies pretty heavily on their opponent not being beside them constantly, Heketch, who sticks to his opponent like glue, is a terrible matchup.

I will ask again when this game ends but for now, I'm thinking if you'd like to do a boss fight.

Devastation comes with 4 bosses, 1 of which is doable with 2 players. The rest require 3 or 4 so unless you can find someone or play 2 characters...they're also very hard in comparison with the strongest one basically like Apocalypse or Onslaught in the capcom games.

I agree with Azure. It was a bad matchup for ARIA this time haha. He's like a hard counter for her.

Would like to ask if you'd be interested in the use of the Force Gauge next game. I will link it eventually, but basically the Force Gauge replaces the "Special" card in your deck.

It acts as that bar on the bottom of fighting games that powers up your specials. Basic mechanics is that it increases by 1 each turn and during Ante, you can spend 2 to do a variety of things like +Prio or +Power and SG. It also has an alternate effect for Pulse. And Cancel is completely removed.

I asked around and they said that the Force Gauge does not necessarily make things more balanced, but that it makes the characters it came with much more versatile. SO nutshell, if you're picking a Devastation Character there's a chance the Force Gauge won't be compatible. But for War and Fate, it supposedly supports them well (have not tried).

Also in other news, Battlecon is having a 4th game on its way: Trials. 10 new characters. The kickstarter just happened.

I'm game. I won't be deterred by losses. [And yes, I did pick ARIA because she was a robot.]

I just realized a tiny error. When Azure used his DF token that one legitimate time (and not through a Style) he should've publicly posted that as Error had a right to know.

That is all.

Anways, valiant effort Error, but Heketch was just too fast.

Legend (Click to Show)

Beat 8:

(A) O (m) (H) O O O

Heketch - 14/20 (DF regained)
ARIA - 6/20

Heketch uses Psycho Drive (1 3 5)
ARIA uses Dimensional Shot (3-6 4 6 SG2)

ARIA goes first! Her reticule glows indignantly as the exact range of her canon is reached.

"Targetting Vectors Initialized!"

After putting significant distance between herself and Heketch, ARIA fires a wide-spread laser...the arena explodes and the smoke clears.
Heketch stands directly in front of her.

"Is that all?" He growled, plunging a knife deep into ARIA's sternum for 3 damage. The cyborg staggered, defeat was imminent. If only she could escape...

"This ends now!" The Dark Force began gathering around Heketch as he winded back and performed a devious headbutt towards the hilt of the blade...pushing it further and impaling ARIA's windpipe for another 3 damage, killing her instantly.

@Error: Heketch has a Start of Beat effect, that takes place after your Reveal, but before your activation. Sorry mate.

Beat 9:

(A) (H) (m) O O O O

Heketch - 14/20 (DF regained)
ARIA - 0/20

GAME OVER! Heketch wins! Congratulations Azure! It was a valiant effort, but ARIA was severely outclassed.

From here let's discuss about the ff:

- New characters to use to fight again?
- Whether you wish to use the Force Gauge? Here: http://indines.wikia.com/wiki/Force_Gauge
- New Base?
- Dodge to replace Dash

For the latter, I have recently found out that Level99 has replaced the Dash Base with the Dodge Base. Its effects are as follows:

Dodge:

Range: N/A
Power: N/A
Priority: 3

This attack does not hit opponents.
Start of Beat: Move 1, 2, or 3 spaces. If you moved past an opponent, that player cannot hit you this beat.

The implications of this move are obvious. This makes whoever would Dash less boring and less untouchable. Would you agree to replace this base next game?

Also, as you are aware, there are more than just one set of Bases If you wish, you may also choose a certain Base to go with whatever character you choose. You may now use the Beta and Delta Bases as you wish. EX and Almighty are only for 2v1 and 3v1 matchups.

I agree to the Dash replaced by Dodge. Force Gauge seems like a cool mechanic we could try. I'll look into what other characters I can use in the pool, ahah. Honestly, ARIA really does seem fun to play, she just needs a lot more foresight and a lot more planning. She can pull off real nasty combos if done correctly. :)

If you like long ranged fighters? I suggest Rukyuk or if you're daring, Byron. Rukyuk is a gunner that requires Reloading to refill his powers. Byron is a lich who takes limited amount of damage but is hard to kill if his opponents cannot get to him.

There's also Malandrax if you want something harder---he's reliant on placing traps around the arena. hahah, but maybe not since you've had a bad exp with ARIA

The reason why I loved Cadenza and ARIA was because they can manipulate priority. Not just because they were robots [but its a factor]. One of the reasons why Cadenza (for me) was so powerful was because it had [Battery] and [Grapple] Style. It made it hard to run away from Cadenza because a good timed Battery Drive then Grapple Shot and an ante'd StunGuard ClockWork Strike would really deal massive damage. I'll look into the gunslinger, lich and trap setter. Difficulty makes you grow, so I don't mind it. Haha.
