I'm pretty sure you can bid as much as you like including more than your total energy but were you to and then win all your bids you'd instantly be dead.

I don't think we should be stating defensive/offensive energy allocations, and the overpowered ability is part of the game. You can bid on a power and then remove it from your abilities.

If we don't state that's means that we can't see who is attacking who and who is attacking us. (Does this make it fairer?)

Guys just read the rules
I presume Hewitt here is our paper.
Allocation Phase
During the Allocation Phase, players choose how much of their Energy to assign to Attack, how much to assign to Defense and how much (if any) to pump into their Super-Powers. Defense will defend against all opponents, but Attacks (and offensive Powers) should be targetted towards specific opponents. These decisions are made secretly; either noted down on a scrap of paper, or memorised.
Example: Mantisman has 80 Energy. He decides to assign 50 Energy to Defense, 20 Energy to an Attack against Doctor Cuttlefish, and 10 Energy to an Attack against Plastiqueman.
When all the superheroes have decided how to spend their Energy, their choices are revealed simultaneously and the game moves on to the Resolution Phase.
I presume Hewitt here is our paper.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaame. I really prefer public movemaking.
Aug 26, 2016 12:49 AM #1458871
How do these abilities work then? Are they always active ? Or do you have to use energy to use them? (Or only if the ability is a attacking one) I assume something like Souleater is always active?
Aug 26, 2016 12:58 AM #1458872
Quote from NyarlathotepWe will be publicly stating attack and defense on the thread rather than PMs then, yes?
This is up for debate. I personally just want the posts in spoilers with brackets in them. So I don't have to sift through PMs everyday. But, if you don't trust each other's honest, I will do the ol' PM me each turn as long as you guys don't mind the slowed speed.
Quote from WyzDMso I just realized that cosmic particles will LITERALLY END THE GAME IN 2 TURNS POTENTIALLY cause everyone loses 60 energy round 1. So... can that be toned down at all or is that legit cause it can pretty much set everyone up to die in round 2
also, if a hero is eliminated, does that count as leaving the game towards souleater??
Not necessarily, what if someone bets really high on Cosmic, he'll be sure to die first.
And yes, eliminated heroes count towards souleater. If a hero dies before a clone, the clone still plays in your stead and you are still considered alive. This is because by the game's definition, a clone is classified as a sidekick type which is defined as a hero under your command.
Quote from NyarlathotepYou know, I think if we were to keep it as is the only real option would be to immediately kill whoever carries that ability.
shouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuld probably change how it functions
Quote from SkeletonxfIt's actually a bit worse than that because we're probably going to start with not 6 but 8 'heroes' if people get Cloned Sidekick & Sidekick - I presume those two immediately take effect? Anyway if they do then on round 1 we start with 8 'heroes' and if we all managed to either bid to below 80 energy or took a little bit of damage we could all be unable to automatically spend 80 energy by the start of round 2 and would all immediately lose if I understand Cosmic Particles correctly.
Depending on resolution then I think that would mean everyone loses or if someone bid and got Souleater for really minimal energy and didn't take much damage in turn 1 and someone else died to cosmic particles before they did to heal them past 80 then they would win automatically.
Well, you're the one who nommed the power, Nyarly. Now you have to be responsible for what's about to happen; you will have to accept the fact that the only way to prevent an early death is to convince everyone not to bid on it (or have whoever bid on it disregard it) BUT if someone does wanna keep it, then whoever bids on souleater has a distinct advantage. So...will you risk outbidding someone's cosmic or go straight for Souleater? But what if no one bids on cosmic and you wasted energy bidding on Souleater? Decisions, decisions...
Quote from SevarusSo we can bid up too all of our energy (100 energy points) on as many or as few abilities as we like however if a person wins they lose that ammoint when they start)
Bids are made in secret
Yep. That means, if you bid all your energy. All 100 of it. And you won every bid, you start the game dead because you have 0 energy. As skelly has said.
Quote from SkeletonxfI presume Hewitt here is our paper.
That's why I'm here guys. I am the game. *spews water*
Quote from SevarusHow do these abilities work then? Are they always active ? Or do you have to use energy to use them? (Or only if the ability is a attacking one) I assume something like Souleater is always active?
You should read the rules better. It says that if a power has Spend, then that energy comes back to you next round. But if it's Burn, it's a permanent loss. Everything else is passive.
Btw, clones are also people so they will also have their own allocations, to those who plan on acquiring them.
I will allow bid changes in the PMs, in case no one was clear on what I just elaborated above.
All in all 5 of you have already Bid. If no one changes their bids, we are just waiting for one.
Aug 26, 2016 7:53 AM #1458918
Alright, I've counted all the bids. And we have a few tied bids:
Sevarus / Tecness
Very Big - Any damage dealt to you is halved (rounded down).
Person McPerson / Sevarus
Poisonous Membranes - Whenever you are Attacked, even if you defend against it, your Attacker sustains 3 Points of unavoidable damage.
As per the rules, only the people who tied will be able to bid again on their chosen item. Will the people in these tied Bids, kindly bid again via PMs? Remember that you may have already successfully bid on existing items, so your current energy may not be a full 100%. Bid wisely.

Resolution phase with assigning defence to the revealed attacks can at least be public.

Of all the fucking numbers in the world...
Alright, I just got the re-bids. You'll never guess what happened. Now these 2 have to re-vote AGAIN:
Sevarus / Tecness
Very Big - Any damage dealt to you is halved (rounded down).
And if you both know how much you bid awhile ago, you'll see the absurdity of getting such at arbitrary number at the same time.
McPerson's tie has been resolved.

Aaaaand we are back. Surprisingly, no power was not bid on and therefore, all powers nominated will be in play! Now we will move on to the pre-rumble setup. At this point in the game, you will have a chance to discard whatever power you just bid on, if you decide to. Some of you will also have the ability to choose some pre-rumble options for the game. Here are our bidding results:
Nyarlathotep - 97
Cosmic Particles - Each round, every Hero must automatically spend 10 Energy per Hero in play.
Sevarus - 50
Plague - Lose 5 Energy at the end of each round. Whenever you damage another Hero, they contract a copy of Plague.
Blur - If you are Attacked and your Attack is greater than your Attackers Defense, the damage is negated.
Souleater - Gain 50 Energy whenever an opponent leaves the game.
Vampiric Bite - Whenever you damage another Hero, gain Energy equal to half of that damage (rounding down).
Tecness - 26
Cloned Sidekick - Cloned Sidekick has 50 Energy and a Power of your choice from those in the current game. Please state which power your Cloned Sidekick would like to have. You can pick anything except Cloned Sidekick.
Sidekick - Your brave sidekick counts as an extra Hero, under your control. He starts with 50 Energy, and has no Super Powers.
Very Big - Any damage dealt to you is halved (rounded down).
Person McPerson - 90
Poisonous Membranes - Whenever you are Attacked, even if you defend against it, your Attacker sustains 3 Points of unavoidable damage.
WyzDM - 98
Avatar - For every 2 Points of damage you take, instead take 1 and raise the number at which you die by 1.
Skeleton - 55
Mimic - Spend X: You may use any single Power in play whose Power Strength is X, this round.
Gemini Suit - Create a duplicate of any Hero you control, with the same Powers, except Gemini Suit. Divide the duplicated Hero's Starting Energy between the original and the duplicate Hero, and add Energy equal to Gemini Suit's Power Strength to each. Please, choose a hero to clone NOW.
Remember that each clone/sidekick is its own hero. If the main dies, the player is not out until its clones are dead.
Just post your setup choices here, no need to PM at this time.
Also feel free to start trashtalking and forming alliances if you wish.
Btw guys, the wording of Cosmic Particles means that MUST spend at least 60 energy (or all of it if you have less). That just means, you cannot leave any energy unspent if you have more than 60 energy. Spending is not Losing energy.

Most anti climactic first round with that power actually in the game ever.
What would anyone have to gain from not spending all their energy each round?
Also some power questions
If I call myself Skele1 and clone myself with Gemini suit and call that Skele2 is there anything stopping me from using Skele2's mimic to mimic Gemini Suit off Skele1 to create a clone of Skele2 called Skele3 ad infinitum energy willing?
Similarly could Tecness have his clone have Mimic to create a Gemini clone of his clone ad infinitum energy willing?
Plus don't we need to know each power's power strength for gameplay like Mimic?
If someone Mimic'd Plauge would they discard the 5 energy loss debuff from the power at the end of the round?
If someone Mimic'd Cloned Sidekick or Sidekick would that even work and would it persit after the round and if it stopped persisting at the end of the round would that count as a player leaving the game for Souleater?
If WyzDM attacks Person McPerson does he take 3 points of damage or 2 with regard to which power over rules the other?
Similarly does Blur or Poisonous Membranes override the other?
With regards to Blur does 'your attack' mean your attack specifically against the player attacking you or your total energy assigned to attack that turn?
Edit: No discard
Also congrats to Tec on having both the lowest amount of energy here and the most

I will set up the way I am setup in this post. In other words I want to play all of my abilities. (Theirfore I discard none)
