With StickPage 2.0 still being in development and IRC out of date, I thought it would be useful to reintroduce SP to the world of live chat as a community by jumping on the Discord bandwagon. Discord is a pretty sexy modern way to communicate with each other. Not just through text but images and voice as well. There are separate voice and text channels so you don't have to listen to people when all you wanna do is type. The best part is that you don't need to download anything to join, all of these features work the same on their website. Discord is also incredibly reliable, and is made by some talented people who care about the experience.

I figure this would be a useful way to have as much or as little group interaction we want when the time comes, even if there isn't always a ton of active people. When interesting events happen it can be an accessible drop-in spot for some discussion. I've removed the Chat option from the main navigation for now and I am still deciding if I should replace it with this or leave it for the people active enough to see this thread.

Heh, I had to juggle a bunch of IRC chats for a few RPs I did in the general chat this spring. IRC is certainly not the easiest thing to use...

I would vote to toss this up for the Chat button, but no one ever used that anyway....

Rip the one I made in five seconds. Whatever, mine was dumb anyway. Request trust we add a trivia bot to the discord chat, those are hella fun.

they can't be that hard to explain. the name sounds self-explanatory.

I like this already, I say it should go where the old chat button used to be. jeff would I be able to stream audio directly from my PC to other users or would I need a microphone? I think it'd be cool to put on mini-concerts and take requests and shit for anyone who might want to watch me play some live music.

Yeah I mean it just hooks in to your operating system's native sound mapper so you can just set you input to "what you hear" or whatever it's called these days. Discord is also developer friendly and there are a ton of bots we could get for that kind of thing as well, or maybe I can make one if it doesn't exist and you have a request. I think there's one that lets you feed it YouTube URLs to play music on a playlist. Or maybe not but that would be a cool bot to make.

You could have someone there with it to make sure only music and overly long pieces (such as 30 minute video game tracks), and edit out ones that are too long or aren't music etc and then give them to the bot.
