We don't need to talk about Dooms unless we're talking to them. They're trying to turn a new leif, let's just let them try.

I've heard bad things but I've never actually seen them and I'm perfectly willing to give the guy the chance. Mistakes do happen after all and we can only learn from them and move on. Doom, I know it sounds like i'm upset or trying to cause trouble, but i'm not. Just try to move on (even if others bring up the past, ignore them unless its for helpful or constructive purposes).

When college is over or I have time, I have a few fights in mind.

*insert that face which Malacal(not familiar enough to call him malicali) does which I can't figure out how to do because I am stupid.

EDIT: Hewitt, can you explain to me how the several locks and chains I put on Alex's full potential added to the coffin, safe, Fort Knox, maximum-security prison, pocket dimension, anime-esque seal, Will of the Elders, magical barrier, force field and Brickia casings mean that I was pushing for her omnipotence to be used. I know this is a dead horse, but I will keep referring to it if you do (because, frankly, there is no reason for you to. At least I didn't put in superluminal travel (even on a cooldown, a punch on that speed would obliterate anything it came into contact with)/Mach 10 speed and space/time distortions that could be used AT ANY TIME. *fill the rest of this comment with unnecessary RAEG.

Come on Doom, you said Alex was a dead horse yourself at this point, let's just drop this and let her rest in peace.

Malacal either uses a special keyboard, or copy-pastes it from somewhere else. It's easy enough to find if you just want to copy-paste laze. Anyhow...

That edit gave me a headache. Alex is still being mentioned because that is the most recent example of our discussion. You, personally, are no longer the topic, save for interjecting rage-comments every couple of pages.

If you yourself can say you are posting unnecessary rage, then you yourself should stop. I'm not saying you don't have a right to be miffed, but I'm saying that posting comments like the above which really accomplish nothing is like trying to stop a flood with a firehose -- you're using the wrong tactics.

Now...

Lock and chain, schmock and chain -- really, we don't need to discuss Alex anymore, but because people are and you still seem to have missed the point:

Making something be there in the first place is the problem, because there is absolutely no point in having it there unless it has an effect on the game. Either you remove it so that there is no potential for the inevitable "break-free" moment (because it was only her own choices, in the end, that restricted her), or you leave it in and fighting you is like the playing a useless game with that arrogant guy who always says "well, I let you win because it wouldn't be fair for me to really try to beat you."

Doom, Hewitt, I don't know whose fault this is, but this is not going to stop escalating until one of you quits posting comments about the other. I know I've been gone for a while, but can we all just drop it?

I'm really having to step in more than I like, but if conversation continues here that doesn't link to views on the regulations, adjusting them, adding some or removing some, then I'll have to start handing infractions. This is not the place to continue bringing up dirt and mud and hostilities. If we're not on the same page, then get flipping to it quickly.

I made one quip. It was more of a joke really?

If he takes it personally and can't take a joke, then I can retract it. No problem.

um quick question for the gladiators. could a person make two gladiators who on their own are capable of fighting and winning a battle yet they cannot fight at the same time. in other words can the opponent choose which of the two gladiators they will fight? or if that is not allowed then could the two gladiators just be different forms of on gladiator who turns into the form that the opponent wants to fight but cannot change into its other form during the fight. like say a ditto that can transform into say a charzard. it is then stuck as a charizard until it faints. something like that?

Those would indeed break regulation because you're trying to bypass the rule of having a single gladiator. Duos have to rely on one another to qualify as a single gladiator (or you could have a parasitiv nature thig go on), but anything where you can "pick who to fight" is a copout in my eyes.

If najority disagrees, then I'll adjust the OP to match their feelings. This is just how *I* feel on the matter.

I mean, I kind of like the "pick who to fight" scenario.

Bad example, but Dooms wanted to fight Altaer, not Dr. MacBeth. Now, obviously, that won't happen (and I'm cool with David as my only wRHG), but theoretically if it was stipulated that they would never work together except in a strictly storyline NPC sense, then I don't see the hard in this.

Just wanting to try to further this thought a bit. I'm more or less neutral on this topic, overall, but still. It sounds like a decent solution, IMO.

Me and Devi had a small chat about how OP characters work, and the specific line that denotes something as "too powerful to be fun to fight against."

"Basically, winning or losing a wRHG battle is never from who's character was inherently stronger. It's always the most entertaining and well written story that wins. For example, someone could have a character that makes everyone's heads explode by thinking it, he's going to have boring-ass stories that no one wants to vote for because there's no climactic action. Not to mention people will not want to battle him. He'll quickly realize he needs to switch his character if he wants to battle others, or be ignored forever at the expense of no one but himself."

But at the same time, I can't just leave it at that because people shouldn't be going all over the wRHG section contributing nothing if they perpetually have a character no one wants to verse. So this does need to be actually addressed.
Limiting strong powers is a very slippery slope. Sometimes, like Handyman, a really powerful character is still good because the battles with them are climactic and fun to read. Other OP characters are boring because they hypothetically aren't able to take damage, which is obviously boring because who wants to read a wRHG with no back and forth action?
On the other hand of things, specific weaknesses have never sat well with me. Over time, an wRHG's battle history is going to become losing to the same gimmick over and over again from his opponents. It also, honestly, takes a lot of creativity away when making an honestly flawed character to have to make specific strengths and weaknesses for them.

In the end, the solution me and Devi agreed on was to replace the "OP" and "weaknesses" with a blanket rule. "Design your character as if they're going to lose half the time, because they will."

If a character hypothetically cannot lose if they try their hardest and use every dirty trick in the book to survive, then that violates the rule. No more specific gimmicks to kill a wRHG, and no more hypothetically unbeatable characters. But now people have freedom to make characters that appear to be super powerful as long as it's clear that they can be beaten by a equally skilled opponent.

Edit: If you guys feel like you need on-call mod presence, I'm always on. I just don't browse here regularly. If I'm needed somewhere just report a post and I'll check it out once I can B-)
