First of all, Merry Christmas everyone. I hope it was jolly and bright and all those other seasonal adjectives we use to describe happiness being around family and gift-giving during this holiday. I'm writing this thread because while sleeping today (a pretty hefty nap), I had a dream that really struck a cord with me. It was simple enough at first, but after waking up I had the sudden urge to write as many details as possible about it. I've never done this before in my life. I've had a lot of interesting dreams as to the next guy, but as you'll find out, this really takes the cake. I had to get this of my chest asap. I did my best to organize my thoughts in an orderly manner. I left as many details in as I remembered them. I didn't put this in writing because it's not really a story, but a mod can move it if you feel like it belongs there. These are for the most part jotted thoughts I had to rush down. So without further ado, here it is:
I'm working late at night, I'm installing wires in a lobby of a building. I only look down ahead and see a long hallway. I believe I'm a technician and I'm at work. I have a huge black box with lots of cords coming out of the wall. A young kid also working there with a supervisor comes over from an office next to where I have the box and wires and I'm asked what it's for and all I say is it's for another project (I can't remember what I was doing with it). I then go into an office adjacent to where that was. Another man, I believe my superior, is telling me about a hack for Stick Empires, Gods of Inamorta. He gives me a napkin and directions to go play. I don't listen and I forget how to use it, the napkin is somehow magic and has words and menu selections that appear on different sides and how you fold it. Later on my own time, I eventually figure it out, by pressing different words that appear in gold letter on all sides of the napkin. The one that says play won't activate unless I'm somewhere else at this specific location. I don't know where it is yet but I know how to get there.
I'm now on my way there through driving my car. It's an abandoned strip mall. It's really run down on the outside. It's also late at night. There's some lighting in the parking lot, I think from street lights, but I find a small alleyway to the side of the building where it's dark and park there. I walk long outside and again obverse how beat up it is. The building must have long been abandoned, I don't know why. I see there are many different kinds of stores. I walk into one by opening an unlocked door. It was once a diner, and the place is a mess. Boxes and structural damage is what I see. I go behind it and venture through another room that contains electronics like computers. There's still a lot of desks and some chairs left up, it appears people may have left in a rush. I find a computer that is humming really loud and see it's still turned on. I turn it off. Someone yells something about disconnecting something from further down the building, I must have made my presence known. I realize others here too and get really excited knowing I'm not alone. I go to where I heard him in the room next door and find him sitting down. There's also someone else in the room. I activate my napkin again, and my entire vision is filled by a black screen with red letters that come down again spelling "Gods of Inamorta." It actually looks really sick. It's also brought to my attention that all rooms are somehow attached in one way to other games and fantasy environments, and the napkin is also attached to them in some way. The room I found him in has things with star wars.
This is where things take a twist for even more weird. I figure out the entire place is separated from reality. Multiple trips off-screen give me information how whenever I step outside, it's only seconds after I go inside. Real items from these environments start to be found as well, starting with light-sabers in the Star Wars room. When I find one, I notice how real it looked, so I tested it by passing it through a table and it chopped through it like butter. I quickly warn the others as I realize this could be dangerous and we may actually take off our hands without thinking about it. Eventually we're back to having fun, and start playing games anyway. A high score in roman numerals that keeps track of something appears on a wall in every room. I'm at the top. Slowly, the items get more and more dangers as we start to find weapons like guns. I'm still with the two other guys, as we've become friends. I don't mind as I show how I can work a gun perfectly fine by cocking it and reloading it. There's one that's never handled a gun before, so we laugh and show him how to use it. We get careless and tell him to fire toward the back wall in one room, there's nothing there but a black curtain. He fires a few shots and we laugh some more, he may be holding it funny or being a big wuss about it. Suddenly return fire comes from somewhere off-screen. Both my new friends are shot. I get low under a table and fire shots where I think they're coming from, and it gets quiet. I noticed up above the scoreboard has changed, and someone's name has moved farther up. I realize whatever games we played, if we defeated an opponent, they must have been eliminated for good and that puts the names higher up. But it also works if players choose to fight each other in the building without being in a game. I make a run to try and escape. I also force myself to wake up.
The moment I sat down to type this, no sooner than a full minute after I get up, my alarm goes off on my phone.
I don't think I can ever return to sleep.
