That's a shame, you should use these types of competitions to motivate you and help improve your skills. Deadlines are good because they apply pressure that otherwise wouldn't exist, and as a result you tend to achieve something from it.

If you are dropping out, it would be interesting to see what you did produce (if you produced anything that is).
