Aladea : A Conspiracy of Spectres

Introduction:
Four hundred years after the fall of the great Empire of Ur, six daring lords ventured out into the ocean in search for a new land to call home. Their travels have lead them to the continent of Aladea, a land rich with resources and new beginnings. However, this land was far from uninhabited, tribes and small nations have existed here long before they arrived but this did not deter them. Over the years, the six lords gathered their troops, marched forth and conquered; forging their own territories, fashioned their own cultures and created their histories. Wars were fought, lives were lost, peace was restored and people were content.

What still holds true is that Aladea is a fuedal land, what peace lies in each of the Realms are shallow, with only the might of the Crownlands to keep them in check and right now, something stirs underneath the false serenity. Shadows have begun to creep into Aladea's borders, coercing its men and women into unseen plans and deciding the fates of lives like pieces in a game. And once the final step falls into place, there is no telling what fate befalls the Realms.

Rules:

1. God modding is forbidden. I will kill your character on the spot if you do. It doesn't take much in a magical world to do so. This includes:

 • Using another's character without their permission
 • Doing something impossible with your character or have your character know something that he/she couldn't possibly know at the current time.

2. As much as possible, write your posts with correct grammar and be as clear as possible. You aren't the only one playing and if you can't be on Skype, this is more applicable to you since we won't be able to reach you as often as those on the chat room.

3. Editing is forbidden unless its due to these:

 • You need to fix grammar/spelling issues. Notify me.
 • You misunderstood previous posts. Notify me.

4. Do everyone a favor and read previous posts before you post yours. Everyone wants to have fun and RPing is best enjoyed when everyone connects.

Tools/Relevant Documents:
If you are interested to play, PM me and I will be sending you some Google Documents regarding the entire RP. Once you create your character from these, send them to me and I'll judge if they're okay. Once done, you can post the character here and I'll add them to the roster.

Once you're in, I'll invite you to the Skype group.

is includes hairstyling, clothing, accessories, knowing what works, as well as being a seamstress), music, art (painting/sculpting), flower arrangements, and mixing of compounds to create certain alluring scents. He’s most adept at painting, specializing in scenery and portraits, then follows his ability to make/mend clothing and hairstyling, and finally music, sculpting, flower arrangements, and perfume making. He signs his paintings with a rainbow-colored lark somewhere in the painting, whether it be perched on a tree branch, soaring through the sky, or pecking at the ground.

His magic comes out in the form of artwork, he manipulates the flow of mana coursing around him into intricate designs that turn into different objects, most common are insects and vegetation. These objects then hold a magic spell that are triggered by touch or other triggers. His most prized spells come out in the form of ink-butterflies during the day or ink-moths during the night. Using Hiraya magic, he creates scents that leads to status ailments, such as hallucination, paralysis, etc. Using Danaa magic, he creates physical obstacles, such as ensnaring vines or spores that will inflict status effects upon their recipients. He has no offense magic to speak of, rather focusing mainly on support and such.
gical fountain pen. It can function like a normal pen, with the body and tip made of steel, and the entire thing is inscribed with golden patterns. There’s an opal encrusted at the other end of it. Much like a magical wand, it has a core made of lamia extract. It’s used to focus his magic so that he can “draw” his spells with special precision which increases the potency of his spells by making them more stable and so improving their functionality. It also gives him the benefit of being able to use less mana for his spells. This pen is located in a special sheath he created inside his vest.

He carries with him a knapsack, and within the leather satchel is a lot of tools, most he finds essential. He has a sketchbook that is filled with doodles and other concepts such as fashion articles and other works. He also has different types of sketching tools besides his pen such as charcoal sticks, brushes, paints, and such. He also has a sewing kit, shoe polish and wax, brushes and cloth, a whittling knife, sculpting tools, a razor and scissors, and a small mirror.
ing to violence to get what he wants. Rather he uses his words and if conflict arises, his magic to get him and his opponent safely out of the conflict. He can’t stomach violence to begin with, wincing at the sight of blood and has never gotten used to seeing death, despite how commonplace it could be considered. He has a kind heart and understands there’s not always a way to resolve things peacefully, but would hope that all peaceful options were exhausted first before they turned to violence, however he won’t take part in it.
scular or as tan as the average Crownlander denizen, but he still has a toned body and tan from simple acts of hiking, toiling in daily life, and carrying around easels and other tools and works. He wears a ruby red buttoned shirt that sleeves are rolled up to his elbows where they are then pinned closed. He wears on top of that a black vest and has around his neck a white ascot, another gift from his “fiancée.” He wears black pants and similarly dark boots, they are slightly worn but kept in good health by his efforts of maintaining them with polish and wax. He wears a silver-blue traveler's hooded cloak over his shoulders. Inside his cloak is a pocket that holds his coin purse.

He has amethyst eyes that seem to glitter like gems.

His hair is his pride as like most Crownlanders. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e3/cc/8f/e3cc8f81bca97a49ac221f5b38445d83.jpg It is just as colorful and if compared to this picture the yellow part is longer to go to the nape of his neck and a lock is braided so that it can be tucked behind his ear, it is decorated with a sapphire blue ribbon. In the shaved portion of his head is a design of crashing waves. http://images.all-free-download.com/images/wallpapers_large/crashing_wave_wallpaper_landscape_nature_wallpaper_1360.jpg
e mother was a scenery painter while the father was a hair stylist. He showed interest in the arts in early ages and began working alongside his parents when he was four. Diligent in his practice, he excelled in his work though he shined brighter in painting with his mother’s tutelage than his father, however that didn’t mean he wasn’t skilled in being a hair stylist. At the age of 13, a special caravan had come from Izukani and the boy fell in love with the art and work he was shown. His parents saw how much the boy was enthralled so convinced the caravan members to take the boy with them on their journeys.

Lavernius traveled with the traders and they left him at a hostel at the Izukani capital. There he began learning from other courtesans, deepening his skills in painting and hair stylist. He also began learning on being a seamstress, as well as being a sculptor and musician.

Every year, he would return back to his home alongside the caravan and visit other towns where he would begin painting sceneries in his own unique style, a mixture of traditional Izukani art which is more fluid/movement-based and heavier in the paint with the traditional Crownland style of brighter colors (aka post-impressionism). This special style began gaining traction in Izukani as well as market places, and soon he became a popular artist.

6 years after this experience, Lavernius was hired by the Kaiyo family as a mentor for the man’s daughter, Shizukana. She was 10 years younger than him, but the two seemed to click. She was first taught by a Thaanas as she had shown talent in Isfet and Maat Haera. She however didn’t show the same talent for the creative arts, so instead she would spend that time teaching Lavernius the basics of magic and mana. Their relationship grew as they spent more and more time together.

This relationship went on for seven years the only thing growing as swiftly was his magical talent. Lavernius sought Shizukana’s hand but when he confronted the father, he was rejected as even though a skilled artist, he wasn’t deemed suitable and highborn enough to marry her. Though when the father realized the extent of the relationship, to avoid her eloping, he locked her away and fired Lavernius. Lavernius left with a determination, he would return when he was suitable.
omes as a surprise for new people. Standing at roughly 1.6 meters in height, very poorly built for a Vadalian, with pretty, smooth face features and general lack of ‘womanly assets’, she looks much younger than she actually is.

Faye has long wavy silver hair, that end with curls below the height of her shoulder pads, and messy bangs. Her eyes are big and bright, of steel-blue color. Her formal garb in which she usually appears consist of a neat white buttoned shirt, white silky shorts that are pretty much underwear, knee highs of the same color and black boots. Usually on her neck or wrist, there’s a royal blue bandana, with which she sometimes ties her hair back. Over this she has an epauletted long coat that reaches her knees, in Tha’anas’ blue, which looks like This.

Needless to say it entirely covers the shorts. She also carries around a simple staff; another Tha’anas insignia. For more casual clothing, she swaps the coat for a silky light-blue skirt, the bandana is also more exposed than in her formal wear. Her fingertips are often black from coal dust, and smudges of it may be present on her face as well.

24th of Maaris 2700 AF, Late morning
6 Days before The Landing of the Lords Day.

Salvation Point, the city where the six Lords of Ur turned pioneers of a new age, settled and began their quest to conquer the new land set before them.

The city itself was alive with activity, colorful banners criss crossed the roofs above the brick streets with shops lining each side, calling out their wares. Boisterous music filled the air with mixing melodies with the Flute Thaa'nas telling the tale of Lord's Landing to younglings. Each realm had come in to see the parade and hold a party in theme with their own culture. Today, was given to the oldest of the kingdoms: Vadalias. The streets are lined with numerous book sellers, some of their finest works and tales. Wood sculptors showcased their marvelous art in the Plaza for all to see, competitors from all over Aladea fought to be the best.

Right at the center of it all, at the port where the six lords were said to have first arrived was the Plaza of the Monolith, a large expanse of white marble flooring with a huge column of the same material towering over a hundred feet, which ended in an obsidian cube that sat on its point. Its six sides was inscribed with the names of all who came and made Aladea what it was, one kingdom for each side; save for one that was magically wiped clean.

To the plaza's right was the Market of Six, a massive marketplace divided into six section, each teeming with the culture and life of whatever realm they represented. One could see the Izukani sector, filled with handmade goods such as woven baskets and artistic tapestries made from some of the finest silk. The Narbondese showcasing their best mithral weapons and armor, some endlessly polishing their wares to keep them shiny for onlookers and passerbys.

To the left of the plaza was the Izukani Quarter, a sectioned off part of the city where spiralling brick roads with trees and houses erected haphazardly everywhere without rhyme or pattern, much to the annoyance of the orderly Izukani. While the rivalry between the two kingdoms was quelled by the formation of the Empire, it is an open secret that the Vadalians did this on to spite the realm that shared their border; Izukani had wanted more farmland for their people while the Vadalians’ territory had the Twisted Wood to worry about, lessening their territory overall.

Directly in front of the plaza in the main road outwards, lied the Younghaven Palace where the keeper of the city, Baroness Ysire of House Younghaven resides. A vast garden constitutes her front yard alongside a few marble sculptures and fenced by a steel gate. Despite the extravagance, rumors say that she has yet to find a consort, and if she does not, her lineage ends and her hold on Salvation Point would transfer to a lesser House. And just in front of her abode lied Valerias Mansion, a similarly, if not more, grand domicile to the Master of Valerias. It was named a Mansion in order to avoid attention from his forward neighbor, as naming it as a Palace may shame the heiress of Younghaven.

Right beside the Palace lied the Temple of the Thaa'nas. A simple structure made of granite and whole timber. Its thirty granite steps lead to a huge columned front of timber made the signature look of the temple across all realms. Housed within are several Thaa'nas and some forty initiates at a time, each busy with a task, bustling their own way to do it.

With each passing day, starting from the beginning of the month, squads of the Glorious Legion had begun to pour in. The head of the Legion himself, Ashtoreth Vysterious is present, often making a pass in the plaza with several of his men each day's afternoon. Some hearsay tells of his worry about the deaths that have been trasnpiring around Salvation Point's vicinity but others brush it off saying: "What could the leader of the Legion fear?"

[Location: Izukani Quarter edge towards Plaza]
Lavernius Mylarc, a man with purple hair and outlandish hairstyle, stood out amongst the people of the Izukani Quarter. He had just arrived from the quarter’s home kingdom and decided to capture the Day of the Lord’s Landing on canvas. Of course, he was ready, his tools and creativity always were. He was on his way to the Dancing Horseman, a regrettably low class inn overlooking the Plaza.

Luckily, he had sent a messenger just in time to settle a deal with the innkeeper to grant him the room with a balcony view of the Plaza. From his position, he could see the activity in the plaza, the competition being strong this time and immediately takes notice to an Izukanese amongst them. Yasuno Itsuka, a young female whose focus was unbreakable once she starts. She had a fantastic figure and had dark shoulder length hair cut straight at the ends. It didn't take long for her to notice her fellow in the arts and waved.

"Mylarc! Are you here to join as well?" She asked. "Or are you here to judge?"

[Location: Plaza]
Faye Petralis, a Thaa’nas of the Staff alongside her hulk of an automaton, drew attention to herself amongst the people of Salvation Point. While news of a working golem isn’t unheard of among the Elves, it is among humans. Children took the most time marvelling at the Atlas powered construct but the Faye herself paid no attention to them. Her focus lied elsewhere as she was scouring Aladea for Elven ruins, clues of power that could further revolutionize her inventions.

However, one person did halt her focus and even stopped her movement. It was Ravhin Tolemus, a member of the Staff sect much like herself. He had shoulder length brown hair and stood a good foot higher than Faye herself and his blue coat hung on his shoulders. Faye had been asked to participate in the duel that tested Sworn to become Thaa’nas and she did, and as a Sworn, Ravhin proved that he was worthy.

“Miss Faye, a pleasant morning to see you here!” He started. “Are you by any chance here to enjoy the festivities or just on your way elsewhere?”

Meanwhile, Atlas was swarmed by children. The automaton simply allowed the younglings to move around him and poke at his arms and legs.

[Location: Market of Six, Sarnathi Section]
Mariana Laranis, a scoundrel and heiress to a fallen House, has been spotted in the port of Salvation Point. He informants have notified her of some odd happenings in their shipments of synthetic crystal; stolen without a trace. She was later found deep in the Market of Six, at the Sarnath Section, waiting for her team to arrive and explain themselves.

In several minutes time, her team of smugglers had arrived, their bodies battered and bruised. They were speechless and out of breath but stood straight in respect of Mari. The supposed leader of the ragtag group of four was Fillian Demrow, a Vadalian with short brown hair with a short pony tail. He held the most wounds, blood dripping from his right arm. Mari remembered her team much larger than this but it didn’t really take much to know they died.

“I apologize, Mari,” Filian said with dismay. “Another shipment had been stolen. This time out in plain sight of us, as if to mock our skill. We did our best but… even our best didn’t match theirs.”

The other members kept their chins up, ready to accept any punishment for another loss.

[Location: Plaza]
Thalia Valgeiros, an assassin of high caliber, has been on the run. Shadows have flocked to her and doesn’t know if they are real or not. Voices have been haunting her in her dreams and taunt in her waking moments. It hasn’t been this bad in months but the fear of her old friends strike fear and paranoia deep in her psyche. Thalia had found an inn in Salvation Point, the Dancing Horseman, a temporary home until she finds a more permanent safe haven despite knowing a parade in the honor of the six lords was to be held here. It has been common for her to kill during these occasions as well, the chaos of such an event provides the perfect cover for escape but she is tired, running from her old home to here.

Right now, she is out in the plaza, scouting escape routes in advance, weary of the trouble that could have followed her.

Tired, Thalia? She turned only to find people busy with their work.

Lavernius grinned brightly, he didn't have much time to chat but he was willing to give her the small amount he could. "Itsuka, wonderful to see you. I'm actually not here to do either, in fact I just have a very tentative hold on a room that overlooks this beautiful festival. I'm planning on painting the ceremony as the first piece for my portfolio. Only fitting my paintings of the world start where it all began. Well basically all began. Can't go back to Ur now could I? However," he peered over her shoulder and looked about. "I am feeling a little judgey," he winked, "are you selling your works? I would love to have a look at them."

Faye walked slowly with her head down murmuring something and counting on her fingers, pulling out a notebook every now and then as Atlas traipsed behind her with heavy stomps. "...And then two above Forestfall, that'd be...Hmm?..." She noticed an obstacle with the corner of her eye, right in front of herself that unlike the others hasn't quite moved out of the way. The woman stopped and raised her head, her eyes trailing on a blue coat all the way up to 'obstacle's' face high above her own. "Ravhin! Long time." Faye's expression quickly changed from puzzled to a bright smile as she took a step back to give the man some space. "Huh...You look good in blue. What were you...oh right. I've been on my way south. Few ruins to check, move some rubble around, maybe visit my parents on the way... Buuut since I stumbled in time for the festival I thought I might as well stay for a while and enjoy myself." Faye smiled even wider. "What about you? Business or festivities?" She also slightly leaned to the right, staring at man's forearm. "Is your arm good again? I still feel bad about that you know..." All words spoken by the woman were addressed fast and with soft, slightly high pitched voice.

Meanwhile Atlas swarmed by the kids stood completely still like a solid statue, staring at its owner's back as if almost silently begging for help.

A black hood helped cover most of the assassins face while a black cloak helped to further conceal the blades strapped to her skin tight leather killing suit. She had been hearing voices again and couldn't get any sleep in her small cozy room at the Dancing Horseman. The voices weren't of anyone in particular, though Thalia sometimes believed they might have been those of the people she had killed, or their families reaching out to curse and haunt her. Memories started bubbling up and she quickly shoved them back down in the deep darkness of her mind, forcing them back out of existence. Being on the streets was a bad idea, she realized. There were too many people around, too many witnesses if she had another episode and began chopping her way out of the city. If she were to die in this gods forsaken place, it would not be from a dagger in the back. The woman fled to the closest alley and began scaling the side of one of the buildings.

The rooftop gave her a better vantage point for scouting as much information about the city as she could, but more importantly it helped get her away from the madness down below. Not that she didn't occasionally enjoy a bit of madness and the chaos that followed closely behind it. She noticed something very interesting through the crowd on the other side of the plaza. A large, moving automaton. They were popular among the elves, but elves weren't in a place like this, were they? She decided to move closer to get a better look.

Mari's eyes scanned the men with disgust and shame, slowly analyzing every single cut that each one had, until reaching Filian. She hesitated for a moment, before crossing her arms behind her and taking a deep breath.

"Care to elaborate, Filian? To my eyes, there was no possible way that a group of 20 well trained scoundrels, thieves and brawlers couldn't easily secure this type of task. But clearly I am wrong, because here you are, WITH NO CRYSTALS IN SIGHT!"

Mari took two aggressive steps towards Filian, until the two were face to face.

"So Filian...elaborate."

Lavernius Mylarc, Edge of the Plaza

Yasuno smiled. “Course I am, I can’t have these Vadalians show us off,” she said haughtily. “And go ahead. It’d be nice to have an honest opinion for once.”

The Izukanese stepped aside and allowed Lavernius a look at her stall. It was a small and plain looking stall with nothing but a table and a banner that stood over it, however in stark contrast to that were her works: marvelous pieces of wood intricately detailed and sculpted in tiny trees and sceneries. One had a two people on a hilltop, swinging their child by the arms. Another had a fisherman captured in a scene where he had just caught a carp, the attention to the water’s movement was inspiring to say the least. But what caught Lavernius eye could have been the larger one, not on the stall table itself but behind it. An unfinished work but it was reasonable as to why: the Isle of Foxes was carved onto the side of a whole timber section, crashing waves and fog completed the surroundings but the isle itself was a slab of wood.

“Well?” She asked playfully. “What do you think?”

Faye Petralis, Plaza of the Monolith

“Ah, it’s healed pretty well.” Ravhin stammered slightly. “The Wands took care of the injuries and in a week’s time it was done.”

The Staff Thaa’nas sighed slightly before speaking. “I’m here on business unfortunately, Jocasta1 had wanted, er, well ordered me and some other Thaa’nas and Legionnaires to investigate some anomalies in Lorcas. Something about the criminal underworld is off there.”

The children had begun to climb onto Atlas back until their parents carried them off, telling them not to bother the two mages and their construct, much to their dismay and protests.

Marianna Laranis, Market of Six - Sarnath Section

In front of the warehouse stood the lone heiress of the Laranis House, amongst her were what remained of her smugglers team and empty crates.

Filian attempted to speak but couldn’t find the words. It was true, they were twenty and he couldn’t swallow how they were defeated so easily, until one of the others spoke.

“They were shadows,” one of them said, looking tentatively at his team before he swerved his gaze back to Mari. “They were like shadows. They didn’t face us head on at first… “

When the man felt Mari’s gaze land on him, he fell silent only for Filian to continue the story.

“They used Hiraya,” Filian said. “They used our men against us. We could count maybe one or three of them but they used some mind trick turn the tables. Mari, they didn’t kill the men... they took them as well.”

Thalia Valgeiros, Plaza of the Monolith

As the retired assassin moved in for a better look at the automaton, her coat got latched on a child’s hand, one of which was being carried away by his parents.

Quickly enough, the mother noticed the sudden tug and turned to face who her child had probably bothered again.

“My child is a bit grabby today,” she apologized with a nod. “Say sorry, Pryven.”

The boy looked at Thalia but didn’t let go of the coat. “Apologies, Miss. Your coat feels like it was caked with blood.” Pryven smiled brightly.
