**Under construction, but a placeholder for now. I'm compiling a full list of my characters --- from obscure to main Gladiators -- into this single thread. Notable locations will be here as well. My Gladiator will be noted here and be treated as my Gladiator character sheet (former threads being binned once this thread is done).

Generally speaking, I've got characters and ideas slapped all over the place -- not ones that need testing, but ones I've confirmed as canon and therefore need to be referenced. This is as much for my own ease of records as it is for other people's ease of reference.

Expect this stuff to come up over the course idk how long. Should be really soon. This post will also allow me to keep track of major canon changes as well.**

The Remarkable Life of Altaer

{Writer's Notes --

anon ultimately revolves around the life of one man -- Altaer, aka The Fixer. We see his own life (and deaths), transitions, dilemmas, development, tragedies, etc...in other words, a hyperbole of the nearly 8 billion dramas unfolding on earth every day. On the one hand, he's a joke character -- his powers and personality at many times cannot be taken seriously, and this lightheartedness is intentional. As a concept and symbol, however, he represents humans. The gritty, flawed, funny, and a-million-other-adjectives homo sapiens. His flaws and strengths are exaggerated and magnified representations of life, and a chance for me as a writer (and hopefully my readers) to think about what each one represents.

I don't know if I've achieved this totally, per se. I know the earliest stories you see show only an inkling of this -- Altaer was a resurrection of an older character ideal from my younger years. He's developed, though -- both on his own and with Dr. MacBeth -- to head at least mostly in this direction. I'm still working towards the full portrayal, I guess...just like all good writers. Will Altaer always be the centralizing factor to my canon here? Probably...his canon only ends when I have finished my symbolic representation of mankind...and that I doubt will happen any time soon.

Dr. David Roy MacBeth and Nehushtan came into play as I just began to grasp how I wanted to handle Altaer. While Altaer is a hyperbolic "Everyman," Dr. David Roy MacBeth is a take on idealism. Everyone is always trying to run after some ideal, it seems -- world peace, equality, tolerance, acceptance, happiness, wealth, success, family, kindness, brotherly love, etc. I wanted to roll all of those ideals into someone and something that could, supposedly, fulfill them. The result was David. Someone who was inarguably a "hero" and good...but also despicable for that very goodness. He was a hyperbole of the other side of man, the side we polish and refine and manicure and craft. As a representation of an ideal, he could never truly become the center of my canon, but still was the point of focus for a time. He and his pseudo-religion served as idealistic counterpoint to Altaer's realism and borderline fatalism, and as such was primarily an agent of development for Altaer. The intention of pairing the two was for me to examine the conflict between everyman and the ideal man. Reality and the Enlightenment Ideal. The flawed with the flawless. Considering the visceral response of most people to Dr. MacBeth, my usage of him worked and served his purpose.

Other characters show up in this canon, playing key roles. Sometimes I might switch these to my main character, but their roles will be to represent the myriad of factors and blessings and dystopias of life that all revolve around my central symbol -- Altaer.

If you're into artistic criticism, my technique here is to use verisimilitude to make my points. In common parlance, this means describing truth through things that bear a semblance of reality but do not adhered strictly to it. For the purpose of making my points, most of my characters are identified by deeply exaggerated traits, making them more akin to allegorical figures than individuals often...something that is intentional. Whether it's working or not...well, that's a different story.

So, with this in mind, I hope you enjoy my works, enjoy the character. Laugh a little, tear up, get hype, idk. I just hope I make some kind of impact. That's my goal.

Sincerely,

Alphaeus

Gender: Maleness personified.

Sexuality: Straight. More or less. Generally speaking, though, anything that looks good.

Backstory: Underground fighter turned legendary assassin. Who then died. And became a god. And then died again. And became a human (more or less). And is still an assassin. And Don Juan extraordinaire.

mily. Normal childhood and all that. His folks happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. They got killed, he got kidnapped by traffickers. He was 12 at the time, and put up a hell of a fight for a kid, so they decided to use him in underground fights. Instead of dying like they thought he would, he lived. After several fights, he was not only surviving, he was winning. After a few more, he was not only winning, he was killing.

Years passed this way. Unlike what many people might presume, traffickers live around and among normal people, and the “property” is usually held in far more ordinary conditions than might be though. He was allowed to read, and therefore was able to make sure he continued to learn despite not being in school. While he learned academics, he mastered the art of killing. And waiting. And watching.

Eventually his owners became just a bit too slack, and he escaped. He had intended to blend back into society, but quickly realized that while he had grown physically and intellectually, he was emotionally still chained as a fighter and killer. Already well aware of the underworld that existed, he decided to put his skills to work. As time passed, he mastered the skills necessary to be an assassin. Eventually he was no longer just “a” assassin. He was famous. Notorious.

Known as a self-styled Robin Hood, Altaer characterized himself by making seemingly impossible attacks on targets he had usually selected (or at least screened) himself, and then wiping out all of their assets just to donate huge chucks of those proceeds anonymously (AHAHAHA, right, well...not entirely. Like, he's still rich AF. So not THAT generous. But can't buy tons of shit due to keeping a low profile, so yeah. Isn't some dumfuk miser). He was no longer the unnatural teen who had escaped from slavery. He had forged a place for himself in the world, and, quite frankly, liked it.

In his mid twenties, he encountered a woman by the name of Kathryne. He was engaged in a fight when he first saw her, and due to his distraction received the first scar on his face. She was just a civilian, but somehow managed to sink deep into his heart, and she into his. Time passed, and he toned down much of his work for her sake. They were married, blissfully so, and headed back to where they first met for their honeymoon. One of his (rather numerous) enemies, however, ambushed them, and killed his wife. It was in a fight with that enemy that he received the second scar on his face.

He had not just loved his wife -- she had been everything to him, and symbol of everything worthy and lovely and pure that was left for him in life. A symbol of a hope for his life to finally escape his past. With her death he became more vengeful and violent than ever, taking on more and more dangerous targets.

While fighting an entire nest of terrorists in the Middle East and already severely wounded, a mysterious man in a white suit slid up beside him and began fighting as well. They survived together, and as the man mended Altaer’s wounds, he introduced himself as Dr. MacBeth.

It was not long before David had lent his special touch to Altaer’s life. Altaer joined Nehushtan, and became David’s closest -- if most unlikely -- friend. It was David who gave Altaer the nickname/title of “The Fixer”…a name that was taken up by the media in reference to Altaer.

In a strange turn of events, Altaer was found and hired by Dante Rockwell to kill a certain man…who turned out to be the same man that had killed Altaer’s wife. In turned out that the “man” was actually a demon, and Altaer was killed for the first time.

For reasons Altaer never quite understood (I personally suspect some "obscure" powerful being that has mastered ruling existence with words was involved with this), The Great One of the Chaos-Void intervened on his behalf, and Altaer became Lord of the Abyss. He returned to life like this, eventually killing his superior (The Messenger) with David’s help to become a Chaos Deity.

Largely due to resurgences of his memories and emotions, Altaer was always lax about being a god, and as is logical, was soon killed for the second time -- this time by The Great One in vengeance for his rebellion. Altaer, however, managed to survive in his human body (largely due to the help of Dr. MacBeth), and got used to being a mortal again.

Time passed (NO SHIT DUDED, REALLY?!), several more deaths (nothing else has changed, so he's pretty sure he's stable now), and he adopted a daughter under circumstances you can read in one of the stories I wrote because I'm too lazy to write it again here. His daughter has become central to his life right now, and will likely remain so.[/spoiler]

Personality: Altaer’s a high-spirited fellow. That said, he is extremely prone to mood swings in all directions, most likely worsened by his affection for alcohol. Behind this, he struggles with his losses and regrets and a pervading sense of hopelessness. He indulges ALL of his desires, however…and is insanely talented with the ladies.

His daughter, however, forces him into a different side of his personality. He's displayed sacrificial love and extreme care and concern for her wellbeing. He's a surprisingly good father, albeit in his own way, and ensures she is both happy and well cared for.

Abilities:
--Humanity Fuck Yeah: Altaer is HUMANITY FUCK YEAH embodied. Humans kick ass, dude. On a related note, he’s also the embodiment of I’M ‘MERICAN, DAMMIT.

--Ultimate Badassery: Combine Deadpool and Indiana Jones and Han Solo and The Last Samurai and you’ve kinda got an idea of Altaer. Good with girls, good with guns, good with liquor, and has a knack for being able to beat Death at its own game.

fighting and killing personified. He’s incredibly strong, fast, and agile. He uses all kinds of guns like it is nobody’s business. He loves explosives, and he loves creative ways of killing people. Not creative like a psycho. Creative like a gamer. Creative like some dude with too much time creating the Creative Kill Chamber. Badass creative. Gazillion XP style creative.

Altaer’s the kind of guy that walks into a place with nothing but his bare hands. Then a horde of armed guards show up. Then he pulls a pair of Gatlin guns with arm-mounts from under his massive duster and mows down everyone. Or maybe it’s a pair of PP19 Hellhounds. Or a missile launcher.

Altaer’s the kind of guy that knocks people he doesn’t like across the room with a single punch, sword-fights a ninja, has a shoot-out with a SWAT team…all without spilling his beer that he’s got in his left hand, or letting his dame fall off his lap.

Altaer’s the kind of guy that would drive his favorite rat rod (he has an IMMENSE car collection, including specimens of all sorts and values) straight at an oncoming army, then jump i
