I prepared this the other day for someone who PM'd me, but I figured it'd be good to have this as a generic copypasta to send to new members who have no idea wtf they are doing.

As we all know, new members have a tendency to completely ignore the stickies, hopefully this will make that less of a problem.

This is what is in the file, except with BBCodes there for your convenience:

PM this copypasta to people acting like complete retards, but be sure to let others in the thread that made you send it know that you have done so, so they don't get too many of the same thing.

You will need to change a few small things, like the name of who it's being sent to, your email address, and whether or not the female-only part at the end is needed, but otherwise it should work perfectly when copied and pasted into a private message.

The BBCode will format it nicely for you, so nothing else is required.

Hopefully this will be a step towards solving the problem of new members not reading stickies.

Hi *****USERNAMEGOESHERE*****,

You seem to be new here, or have little understanding of how things work. This is a quick guide prepared by Jawz, to help you get started.

Before you start seriously posting, you should read the rules. This might seem obvious, but a lot of people don't think it's important enough. It really is important to read them, if you're new to forums.

Once you've done this, you can start posting, but a few things you should know are:

- 1. We appreciate good grammar and correct spelling. It may not seem important, but people make a big deal out of it.
- 2. Don't post in really old threads. This is called a 'bump', and it annoys everyone. Check the date of the last post first.
- 3. Don't post more then once in a row in the same thread. This is called double posting, and it makes you look dumb. If you posted and you want to add something to your post, use the edit button at the bottom of that post.
- 4. Emoticons may seem ok to use, but nobody does because text emoticons (like :D and >:O ) are superior. Typically only newbs use them, unless the person using them is deliberately acting stupid. There's nothing wrong with using them, it just makes you look stupid.
- 5. A lot of the members here will be sarcastic about everything, so don't take anything too seriously. Some members always joke around, but others are always serious. And of course there's the ones that just do what they feel like. This can be confusing, because there's no tone of voice on the internet, but some people make it more obvious when they're joking by not using any grammar or capital letters.

And, most importantly, in general, think before you post.

After reading the rules, you may have some questions about how the forums work; this thread covers a lot of it.

Otherwise, you can post your questions in the General Help section, after you've read the sticky threads at the top, this one.

That should be all you need to get started in the right direction. I hope this has helped, enjoy your stay!

PPS: You seem to be a girl; assuming this is the case, be prepared for massive amounts of sexism and people being perverts, along with "tits or gtfo" and "pics or it never happened", particularly from 2-D and Miniman. Just take this lightly, they'll get bored eventually. You might even find it funny.
