Lets say i'd like to get into making some music, what would be the best program to start out with? Are there any tips or tutorials i should try that will help me out.

Find an instrument and play that.
Seriously. You're not getting anywhere without some knowledge of music theory. Your best bet is probably a keyboard if you're looking for the fast track into electronic music.
But if you're already past that stage and didn't tell me then check out FruityLoops.

yeah, i dabble with drums, i can keep my rhythm and know how to play songs but i kinda wanna start producing my own songs. Would fruityloops still be the way to go?Quote from Hermit SolmuFind an instrument and play that.

It's what I use.
I also had no knowledge of music theory up until two weeks ago, and even now I don't really know much. It's not absolutely necessary to make electronic music.
And for the love of god, if you're going to pirate FL, pirate some decent sounding synths while you're at it. Atmosphere and z3ta+ are both very good.

Your own brain.
Seriously, just place them down see if they sound good if not
try again.
Beatbox here btw.

The basics of the program are extremely simple to learn. Everything I can do with FL I taught myself -- just be patient and explore the features.

Exilement can you message me a link to atmosphere (under the table), I only have z3ta+ right now.

it's from Spectrasonics, and it's a very easy synth to find
Or wait for omnisphere to be released, if you want to bother with a 45 gigabyte synth.

Thanks, Omnisphere is mad sick, but so huge.

whoa whoa whoa, let's not go encouraging people to try and make music without understanding it at all.Quote from ExilementI also had no knowledge of music theory up until two weeks ago, and even now I don't really know much. It's not absolutely necessary to make electronic music.
regardless of what genre of music you're playing, you WILL make better music if you know some basic theory

Mess around with whatever program and in enough time you'll get good.

I tried to respond to this about fifteen minutes ago but my internets crashed.
Here:
"Don't forget there are other good alternatives:
ACID is what I've been using mostly: it is easy to learn and understand. You download or make your own loops (using 'construction kits'), and draw them in to your project. Bit difficult to explain, but if you look at some screenshots you'll see what I mean. Only downside here is a lack of features. If you want echo effects or something you have to do it in another program.
Renoise is a very interesting one, but I can't really get my head around it because I'm not used to its approach to music creation. It's what venetian snares uses, and it'd be good for someone who's done drums in the past I think. Judging from what I've made of it, it also seems to be a somewhat more advanced form of FL, but that's just at first glance.
Cubase is something of a professional version of ACID. It has waaaay more features, is waaay more customisable, and, as a result, is waaay harder to figure out. I had to pirate a tutorial to figure out what most of the stuff in this is for, and it's all damn nifty. However, if you're coming from FL, you'll probably have difficulty understanding.
I won't explain FL because you've apparently already downloaded it.
Yeah."
yeah

I'm not encouraging him to not learn music theory. I'm just discouraging him from running away from making music just because he doesn't know chord structures or note intervals.
It obviously helps, you really don't need to tell me that, but I do know from experience that it's not absolutely necessary to make good music, and I'm not only talking about myself.
