Wow. And Spore isn't even that entertaining. It gets boring after a few plays.

Did you read the article? The huge portion of the reason for all the downloads is because people don't want to deal with the SecuROM bullshit. It didn't need to be done. I'll still buy a copy to support Maxis once I get the money.

Did you?

Of course the record breaking number of Spore downloads can’t be attributed solely to DRM, but it sure helped.

I am positive that the MAJORITY of these downloads can be credited to people who are cheap bastards, like us. I also seriously doubt you will do anything to help maxis.

him, I don't know, but I sure as **** will. I'm contemplating buying TWO copies of the game, just so they get a bit more recognition.

And no, there have been a few forums and stuff that have been encouraging people to download spore as a way of fighting back against the DRM bullshit.

In fact...

Cool, but I'm still positive the majority of the downloaders are pirates, not protesters. That whole protest is still stupid, WE ARE THE ONES THAT CAUSE STUFF LIKE THIS. If we really wanted to change it we could stop pirating. They have had to resort to this because of pirates, everyone seems to be forgetting that part.

i found it amazingly fun until i was in space, and the greenbar at the bottom reached all the way full, and nothing happened other then getting a badge.

then the game felt really empty and i havent played it since.

You seem to be forgetting that the average, non-pirate consumer doesn't want to buy a game and be bombarded with extra installations and what they will view as unnecessary steps to install it.

Noone wants a single player game that requires you to be connected to the internet to play.

Noone likes download managers, especially ****ing malware like EA's manager.

Noone wants to have to make a long distance call to activate a game.

And no average consumer wants to be treated like a criminal.

The point of the protest is to encourage the average consumer to use a cracked pirated download instead of the out-of-the-box version of the game.

PS: The only time I ever pirate a game is to see if I like it enough to go out and buy it.

Since pirating the Sims 2, for example, I have bought the DVD.

The same goes for Halo: Custom Edition/Combat Evolved on the PC, GTA:San Andreas for PC, and Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on PC.

(I don't treat ROMS for outdated consoles the same way, however.)

I understand that the average consumer doesn't want all this stuff, but it is OUR FAULT for them having to put it in. If the average consumer doesn't want to be treated like a criminal, why are you convincing them to be one?
PC gaming is dead, because of us, and you guys are celebrating its death like some type of victory, its stupid. Whenever they try and make some type of way to help themselves they get shut down. Haha **** those developers, trying to make great games everyone loves, who do they think they are!!!@!

It doesn't matter how sucky securom is, we brought it here, it is our fault and no one elses. This is a completely reasonable thing for EA and maxis to do. Do you honestly think that you buying one or even two copies of the game is going to help that thousands that are pirated? It wont make a difference.
