Most people overlook the simple truth that EVERY SINGLE ****ING THING YOU DO CHANGES THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE FOREVER.
I will not explain this here, but because of it, going back into any distant past would probably change how the time machine was invented, and prevent you from going back.
There may be some extremely rare cases where what you did when you went back in time caused you to go back in time and do it, though this seems very unlikely. Like the chicken and egg problem (not literally).
If it were possible scientifically, then I think travel to the past would only be possible back to the point where time travel was invented.
E.G. there would be a giant time travel machine waiting to arrange your matter and create you again. The only thing that would have to go back would be the signal, which wouldn't have to be something in the electromagnetic spectrum, since it probably can't do time travel, but might be a new kind of particle/energy that can.
Edit: The "signal" being the code for your matter, the exact state you and the air surrounding you were in when you hit the GO button.

Okay...
I personally think that this time travel is possible...dunno how, but it can...lol
But you can slow yourself from time..
I'll give an Example:
let's say there were 2 boys, twins, standing right next to each other..
1 goes to space, and goes at lets say...faster than the speed of light? okay, so he goes that speed, and just flys arnd in space for 1 year, at least...that is what his 1 year would be...
The twin staying on earth wouldve experianced lets say, 10 yrs or something, while the twin in space would have been only 1 year older...
This is just a theory i have heard of...
Dont critisize me for it, critisize the person who made this theory! (:

Ah, yes, but think about it.....
Time is motion.
Before the big bang, all mass in the universe was one solid entity.
Eventually, the pressure of its own gravitational pull caused it to, well, explode. This was the beginning of time. Time meaning the transfer of energies and the movement of matter.
So, technically, to travel through time would you not have to move back/stop everything?
