Rumor had it that Nintendo was intending to announce a Nintendo DS redesign including SD card support, music playback support and a camera.

Then, Nintendo said "No we don't."

And now on their Media Summit Nintendo has announced the Nintendo DSi.



Changes are:

• No GBA slot
  
• 12% smaller
  
• 0.3 megapixel camera on the back
  
• SD card slot
  
• Music player and Browser built in
  
• Built in Memory

Also, Nintendo said there will be "DSWare" (Similar to WiiWare) and games you'll be able to purchase with Wiipoints.
You'll get 1000 Wiipoints for free, and the DSWare will cost 0, 200, 500 or 800 Wiipoints.

It's supposed to be released on November 11th for 18,900 Yen, which is roughly 179$.

(Launch-)Colors will be Matte white and Matte black.
No more shiny.

I'd consider getting it.

My old ds broke after I threw it at my entertainment center and I've been wanting a new one. Plus I don't have any gba games anymore.

I'm gonna wait, the DS modding community is going to go apeshit over it. Especially the camera.

Heard about this last week. Why are they getting rid of the GBA slot? Doesn't Guitar Hero On Tour use the GBA slot?

With the camera, it looks like they're just trying to turn it into a big cell phone. Next thing you know, it's gonna support Skype like the PSP (which I don't get).

This is good news for people who just want it for games. We don't have to upgrade!

But I got one question. I'm not a camera geek but I know 3 Meapixel cameras are great, but does anyone have an example image of a 0.3 MP camera so I know what kind of quality were talking?

more pixels, bigger the image, in dimensions of course.

Miniman...I aint no geek either, but, i think if it is 0.3 megapixels...it will be reaallllly bad...
but I doubt they would give u such a crappy camera in the DS, so maybe 2-D was right....
