Violent video games are very popular. Because of that, the video game industry is improving the graphics and simulations to the point of realism. Games are more realistic then the direct feed of violent tv. The games are actually becoming more real then reality. If a kid plays GTA 9 and says, "Wow, this is obviously reality. I can do this in real life, just look at how that cop reacts when I shoot him", who's to blame?
Therefore, we all need to put a stop to reality until they upgrade their graphics. Seriously, it's for the sake of the children.
What you can see on TV is far more real. Since you know, it's real people.
Seriously, who DOESN'T know how to shoot a gun? Since that's as far as a "simulation" goes. It's guns, it doesn't require a doctorate to use them.
More real than reality? What the ****?
And you're seriously not thinking on the fact that most kids DON'T HAVE GUNS. That's the key here. Most kids don't have access to any of the weapons or violent activities they can see on videogames. A nine year old can't do a hadouken or a fatality, and I'm sure as hell there are no headcrabs in real life to smash with a crowbar. Pushing buttons can't kill people.
And for god sake, don't you have something more serious to worry about than ****ing videogames? Like you know, actual criminals actually killing people?

My post was satirical. It starts off with a classic "Games are too realistic" bit and ends up the over familiar "It's for the kids" arguement. I just took it in a different direction.
Chill.
Chill.

Well, in terms of the blame game, in the long run, it all comes down to the parents. Well, it depends really. Once the child is old enough to govern the difference between right and wrong, it's all in their hands. But the video game creators can't be to blame for a child's messed up mind. Video games have special ratings nowadays determining whether or not certain games are fit for a certain age group. What more do you want? As I said, it's not like video games are being force fed to us upon release.

Well said. It's all in the children's brains.

I used to think like you, but I am trying to not be biased for video games.
I think its not the games that are the problem.
It's the parents. These kids need to be taught better.
I played doom as a kid, and I play counter strike now, at the age of 14. I have no intention of ever killing anyone. Why? Parenting.
But media in general these days can be pretty ****ed up, I just think kids need to be taught better, instead of being allowed to run free and act like faggots.
Music, movies, games, media in general affects the kids, but if they are taught better, they see the difference between entertainment and reality. They have to realize that these games are made to satisfy the need for driving fast, shooting, jumping over turtles (Yeah it's hard to resist.) etc.
If you want proof, look at Hip Hop, look at the dances and the fashion it started.
We can't blame it all on the media, but we do know it will affect kids if they don't know better.
Remember, we learn things because we lack information in them. Our parents just need to fill us in on these things.
Shooting a gun requires a lot more skill than one thinks, especially in the higher caliber bullets. I'm sure that if someone gave you a .50 calibur Desert Eagle, you'd shoot it with one hand. Hahaha.
Also - due to gangs, kids can have guns. Their parents can have guns and kids don't have to look far for one. And it's not even about violence, too.
Scary things can harm children. As in give them fears. I watched a movie about a clan who killed some guy in the bathroom, and for like, 3 years of my childhood, I was afraid to be in the bathroom without running out scared. I played doom and had a nightmare about it.
It can really hurt a kid at a young age.

I think the reason people blame violent games is that it provides an easy way to move away from the real problem, which in most cases is bullying. Better to have a problem that you have no control over than to have something that you could sort out but don't want to put the effort into doing so.

I don't think anyone has considered the impact this has on the virtual community.
Billions of AI are being killed EVERY DAY.

No.
They act as if children are so innocent, and will believe ANYTHING.
Im 10, my only act of violence has been on a fag I talked about earlier.
Hell, I think videogames actually PREVENT violence.

Shooting a gun requires little to no skill. Trust me. It's tremendously obvious. And, pfft, the Desert Eagle is the shittest gun i've seen yet. Really high price for a cool looking revolver that makes twice as much sound. Yeah, totally useful. If you knew a thing or two about guns you'll know that no gang or gangster or criminal whatsoever would use such a high caliber gun for anything but target shooting. No one needs 1,666 joules in a piece of steel to rob a bank. And if you knew a little bit more about guns you would know that all Magnum Research handguns tend to create a psychological fear in the shooter, making the recoil increase greatly since the shooter isn't prepared. AND if you knew a little bit more about what you are talking about you would know that every HANDgun is meant to be fired with a SINGLE HAND. The only weapon I can think of that you have to use both hands is a sawed off shotgun.
Seriously. Don't even go there.
You're now blaming videogames for creating gangs? What a crock of shit. Kids who play videogames don't join gangs, they play videogames.
Hoo ****ing yeah. Nobody is FORCING you to play videogames. If you are scared, don't play. Games have ratings, follow them. Murderers and the like won't tell you that what they are going to do shouldn't be seen by children without proper supervision of their parents, now do they?

I have a friend who plays GTA. He's never shot anyone in the face before, and he's a kid.
I have a friend who plays Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but he's never thrown grenades and people, or blown up cars, and he's a kid.
He also has a demo of 'The Getaway: Black Monday' (And I've played that a lot too), but he hasn't shot anyone while pretending to be a police officer.
Also, I've played 'Spartan: Total Warrior' before, but I haven't gone around, chopping people's heads off while shouting 'THIS... IS ...SPAARARRRRTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!'
The World is just get stranger, just like McDonald's being blamed for getting people tremendously fat and catching cancer and dieing and beiong too big for the coffin (or the funeral altogether).

...Are you serious about shooting a desert eagle with one hand....? LIKE ARE YOU ****ING SERIOUS? In case of the .50 calibur, you'd either not hit anything or dislocate a joint, correct me if I am wrong.
Me blaming video games for gangs? Are you even reading my posts?? Look, I'm tired and I just woke up but you are on some kind of drug really.

I just said that guns are IN FACT accessible to kids, and I am not talking about 8 year olds in case your reflex for wanting to contradict me snaps up again.

It is all about parental intervention. If a parent doesn't think the game is appropriate for their children, then they shouldn't be allowed to play it. It's not the games fault if the kid kills someone because of their game. If the parent knows the kid is impressionable or the kid has some disorder, then the parent should be responsible for the accident.

So is anyone actually arguing the opposite side here?
Seems like we're in unanimous agreement.
