ok so here's a little something i made:
http://www.swfme.com/view/1170702
i know it's unfinished =/ it's sooo annoying! i mean i can't make any animations longer than 20 seconds! and even those 20 seconds are like REALLY hard for me to make... i feel like i can be a really good animator... even epic maybe if i really try. but i just can't make long animations! grr.... also... yeah i know i animate quite smoothly and stuff... i'm sure i can improve though. well anyways... my two main problems are:
1: I CAN'T CAN'T CAN'T!!!! make llong animations...
2: I don't get how to make people actually FIGHT EACH OTHER? i mean ok, i anmate 1 person, but what about second one? if i start aniomating one guy attacking then i can't make the other guy attack.... it jsut doesn't work. for example lets take Terkoiz's shock 2 where Mr. red actually fights an equal battle... (yeah i know terkoiz again.. and yes i know shock is way too good for me but still) for the whole time both guys attack and defend... i mean not only red's always beating up the green-grayish guy, but they actually FIGHT. i just can't make that effect. >:/ yeah...
and 3 which's is not really a problem and i dunno why i write it but still.. my particles are bad =P... so yeah,
Thanks for reading... if u actually read this. and if u did then i officially make you a hero of the day. GJ!!! :}
so yeah plz if u have any suggestions HALP HALP HALP, and sorry for the tons of grammar mistakes i made, which i bet i made, but i'm just too lazy to go through all the text and correct it.
P.S. bet there's gonna be a whole lot of heroes today... oh well, i'm always happy to make a new hero.
It's frustratinG! ugh...

On the animation, it went a bit to fast to be convincing, so try adding a few more frames of easing before each of his jumps and before he shoots his beam to allow some anticipation. The particles on the beam were also well done, but a few more frames could have been added near the end to ease out the particles and make it look better.
On your 'I cant make a long animation' problem, I could suggest 2 things:
First: Try to think of a good idea that you feel confident animating before you tackle something as a big project. Some people have a nac for thinking up cool stuff as they animate, but others (like me) have to walk away for a while, do something other then animating to get a good idea, and then keep going.
Second: Long animations normally are not fighting ALL the time. Instead of doing one continueous fight scene (which I think you said you had trouble with) try doing some more cinematic stuff to sort of build up to your desired action scene.
Sorry for the long answer, but I read through yours, so now we're even! :)
Hope this helps.

=P yay! now u are a hero of the day!... ok now to business... i guess i didn't make my point clear enough =/ hmm my stupid explanation >:C ok so i can think something through... but if i work on it more than one night it just doesn't work... for example if i start at 8:00 and finish at 11:00 which's quite a long time for an animation, then i will have hmm i dunno for example 40 seconds of an animation with some good efects, smoothness and all that kind of stuff, but if i try to continue doing that next day, it just doesn't work i have COMEPLTELY no interest in the animation, no matter how good it is, and the longer i take a rest the less i want to finish the animation. basically in this animation the black dude (not in racial way) was supposed to be shooting at zombies... but i got bored and u see how it is now. and about fighting... i mean i can't make the fight itself, it comes out that only one guy attacks all the time, and there's no real fighting. so yeah =) and don't worry about making long coments, i'll read them anyways. cause i really want to figure this problem out. these 2 problems i mean.
P.S. sorry for grammar btw again xD

Hmm.. to be honest the only thing that I could say is to keep your animation lengths from 20-40 seconds, or even better, stick with doing short tests where you can focus on doing the best job possible within, say, 5-10 seconds, without worrying about the time length. When it comes to fighting, im no expert, but I always try to animate the attacking movment first, thinking about how the other guy will parry it. After I make the parry, I aminate the couter attack(s) and so on.

I saw supranova pretty much said it all, but I wanted to add that instead of having the stick be shot back from the flames and start quickly walking have him do something like shoots flame on the ground to propel himself up and create an awesome combo. It adds wow factor, makes it a tiny bit longer and leaves room for more possibilities.

God : i will allow it, but dont count on me again
HELP^

what this means is DONT WRITE SO MUCH
ok whatever i didnt read it
only first 2 posts
the animation is ok, there is resizing and other stuff
im the same as u (but your better) , longest animation i've made is 8 seconds i think LOL
i think you ( and me ) might think of boring/lame/not interesting things to do then you get really bored and uninterested in it and it feels like it is taking ages so yeah
ur a good animator though
keep it up

hmmm lets see
first of all, your really critical of yourself. and you seem to be having some sort of epiliptic-spasm-mixed-with-heart-attack in that first post of yours. to make them longer, well, you need to have an idea of a story line. For me they usual come as i animate - I start with a character, usually give him a weapon, create a backround, and then an opponent. from there, the story really just writes itself.
as far as having a battle goes, youll notice that even though it may not seem like it, its really just alternating attacks or combos. usually they are blocked or just not fatal untill the very end of the animation, where theres the big boom, or epic ending. it sorta just comes to you over time. keep workin at it.

Hey thar Mr. Demon. I know how you feel about the fight scenes that have 2 sticks on even playing fields, cus I had trouble with that too, BUUUT I've learned a lot these past months to help make it possible. So here are my tips:
- First of all, you have to know that in a good fight scene, there is always one stick on defence and one stick on offense, and rarely both sticks will be on offense or defence.
- Now you will want to animate the stick thats offensive first and just make up any moves you want and then stop at the last move that the other stick is going to block or dodge.
- To make it easier to animate the defensive stick, I use construction lines to show where the offensive stick is swinging. So I make a new layer and just make one keyframe at the beginning, then mark down all the offensive hits.
Here's an example:::: http://www.trportfolio.net/upload/view_upload.php?id=473426&lb=n
- So now that you know exactly where the hits are going to be, you can now animate the defensive stick to either block or dodge the incomming blows in any fancy manner you wish!
Here's an example of the reaction::: http://www.trportfolio.net/upload/view_upload.php?id=917558 (they're not actually blocking or dodging, but im just trying to make a visual point.)
- Now you should switch roles between the two sticks, making the defensive stick turn offensive. And again, you animate the attacks, mark it with construction lines, then animate the reaction, aaand switch roles again. It's A CYCLE! Just keep repeating it with different attacks and blocks, and you got yourself a fancy fight scene!
Hope that helps man.

Holy shit hyun, that's a good technique, never thought of that actually. Might use it sometime. <3
As for the animation, was pretty short, but the effects looked quite good.
