Alright guys, Z-Worm has been around since forever, so I've been wanting to make a new sig game. But I needed something that could live up to it, something ludicrously simple in concept, but addictive and challenging. Here's what I came up with.
Z-Tower (keeping with the name scheme you know) is based off a game I played ages ago on our first family computer, an old Macintosh. The name of the original game, I've long since forgotten, but it was a simple, addictive concept that worked perfectly as a flash game. You control a little guy who runs back and forth, and you have no control whatsoever of his movement. The only control you have is jumping, and you have to use some strategy, timing your jumps right, and ricocheting off the walls, to climb the never ending tower.
I added a few ideas of my own to the game, a couple of special powers. The first is the Superjump ("A" key), which is simply a second jump that can be executed in midair. Then there's the panic button ("S" key), which immediately reverses the direction of your guy. Sounds simple, but it's a lifesaver when you notice him walking to certain death like the mindless lemming he is.
To keep things interesting I also had the game change colour once you reach certain heights. There is a finite amount of colours, it doesn't cycle through them forever, but I'll be thoroughly impressed if anyone even makes it close to the final one.
Finally please excuse the size of the game on the page, it's not quite as compact as Z-Worm, but this sort of game really only worked with a vertical layout.
That's all I have to say, play it, leave some comments, report any bugs or glitches you find, and all that stuff.
Enjoy <3
UPDATE
Alright, I made a really simple modification to the game. Since part of the fun is trying to beat people's high scores, it helps if high scores aren't so easy to fake. So I changed the game over screen so that instead of fading to black, the screen just darkens, and game over as well as your score appear over top of the game screen. It's a simple update, but It'll make people's high score screenshots more easily believable, and it makes the game over screen look a whole lot more professional.
