^ that, and I decided to look it up. This is what I found.

If you think that all art should be comforting, literal, narrative, perhaps somewhat erotic, and depict rationally classical articlesubtitleject matter, then your taste in art coincides quite easily with those of that noted German art connoisseur and would-be artist from the early twentieth century, Adolf Hitler. If, on the other hand, you feel art should have no relation whatsoever with nature, humanity, politics, or social message but exist purely for its own being, its form dictated only from the graphic, intellectual exercises of the artist's brain, then your tastes would fall perfectly in line with another art extremist of the time, Kazimir Malevich.

I actually said out loud, "hey, eat shit!" when I read this paragraph.

Unbelievably pretentious.
Deadface.

I have to agree with the paragraph.

The artist must be incredibly skilled and intelligent.

It would appear that it is a large black square.

It's a joke. The only reason modern art "works" is because the artist can paint whatever he feels like, and then he can attach whatever meaning or symbolism to it that he wants; and if he seems deep or emotional enough, it'll be believable to some people.

For instance, let's say I paint a blue square. I could say it represents the chaos brought about by global warming and the devastation of the world's economy, or I could say it represents the innate peacefulness and geometric harmony of nature. Either way, I'd still be full of shit, because it is a square and no embellishments can make it more than that.

Ah, I like rants. I haven't had a good one in a while.

I agree that that paragraph is immensely stupid, but to say modern art is stupid because of that one paragraph isn't much better. There's several cool modern art pictures, for example by Salvador Dali.
In my opinion it has do to with the intention of the artist. Some of them seems to be doing it just to be special and different. That pisses me off. However, some modern artists, like Andy Warhol, actually has some for example subtle political or social commentaries hidden in their art. That can be cool n my opinion.

Well met. I have to agree with you here. It's just that some artists are pretty clearly full of it when they paint this stuff. Jackson Pollock with the paint splatter paintings, for instance, and this guy and his squares.

Warhol did have a pretty clear point, while a square is pretty much just a square.

So, now black squares have meaning? That is reatarded. If I would have known that back in kindergarten, I could be a millionaire selling my shitty paintings in watercolor.
