Blurred only looks best, but you don't need to blur absolutely everything. Use it only on certain hits to add a better sense of power to the blow.

I didn't like the fall though, and most of it was choppy.

Blurred/inverted gave off a sense that they were in high speed attacks while moving fast, Like they were falling. Horizontally. The fall added the same sense.
