Agreed. Latin is really impressive. You can basically break down almost any french word (except for slang).

Other then that, I'd say French. It's a pretty widespread language that you can use to pick up chics.

You can use Spanish to pick up Spanish chicks. Next to black girls, they have the nicest asses.

Learn Latin, once you have that you have the base of all romantic languages...

Trust me, plus Latin is AWESOME

edit: I'm kinda bias though, I intend to learn Latin myself because its.. so useful. Since most of the other languages you could possibly learn derive from it really gives you an edge if you intend to learn a few more languages... and hell, if you can, why not?

I'm takin Japanese. It'll help in a way because I'm into technology. You kno those asian animators!

I HATE spanish with a passion so I'm not takin that. It'll be good to learn for a good job. So I guess it depends on what you plan on for a career.

You have the basics, yes. But you don't have the language. You still have to learn any other language individually, although it will be easier, it still takes the same time. Also it's not like the structure of German, French or Spanish and Latin would be exactely the same.

So if you really want to learn a language for your carrier purposes, I wouldn't pick latin. You can learn other languages faster but you might as well start with the other language, seeing as latin is sort of a waste of time because nobody speaks it anymore and unless you plan on a medical or law carrier, you won't need much more than the few words of latin that you know from everyday-use.

Yes, typo. But French is, Italian is, Spanish is (I believe) and you can't magically speak those as soon as you learn latin.

Yeah, but what I think he and DoD are trying to say is that if you learn the root language, it will make it easier to memorize vocabulary since the terms are similar.

Yeah and that's true, but it's propabely a waste of time, unless he wants to learn several romantic languages. You'll still have to learn any other language individually, so it's better to just learn that language, as latin is utterly useless apart from that.

If, however, you want to learn several romantic languages, it might be worth learning latin.

Yeah, but it helps you understand many of the words of other languages. If you were taking a vacation in France or Spain, you would most likely be able to understand the basic idea of what people are saying because you recognize a few words. Obviously, it's not always the case because of words being bogged down by accents, but it could be helpful at times.

Anyways, I wouldn't recommend German because you're most likely not going to have any practical use for it unless you're taking a vacation there. I chose French which was probably pretty biased, because the only reason that I took it is because my entire family on my mom's side speaks fluently and many of them live in France. It's really up to you as to what you're going to chose, but you should chose the one that you think will be most useful to you.

If this is the only language youre going to learn, then i'd say French, because it will help you a lot in Europe then to know english and spanish or english and german. But if you are going to learn others, than latin.
You can easily learn French, Italian, and Spanish if you know latin. I have latin as a class in my school and i can vaguely understand spanish signs now, without ever taking spanish

Spanish bar-none will be the most useful language.

I think, it's the third most spoken language in the world next to English and Chinese.

It's easy to learn.

And with all of the illegal mexicans taking over the country when you go to see a guy about a fish it could help.

German isn't that easy to learn. But it's a good language to know.
