The fact that slaves were black is only signifigant in that it made it easy to say that they were different, and it was very obvious that they looked different, so there was no problem rationalizing that it was fine and making sure that people wouldn't get confused about who was and was not a slave.


They were black, so they weren't the same as everyone else, so they weren't people with the same feelings as us. It was okay to enslave them.

Also, if someone saw a slave walking down the street, they knew they were a slave because they were black.

All this talking about slaves reminds me of my substitude teacher when i was in 3rd grade......He said he lived to see Luthor king do his speech and he also said that his great grand mother was 4 when slavery ended and his great great great grandmother lived to be a slave and our substitude tought us some especific(Did I spell that right?) things about slavery so I know some stuff about REAL slavery.
