Reccomendations for movies?

Try Return of the Living Dead (Not the sequels, just the first.)
Have you seen the Romero quintilogy? If not, watch the films in this order for the best effect.

  • Night of the Living Dead (1968)
  • Dawn of the Dead (1978)
  • Day of the Dead (1985)
  • Land of the Dead
  • Night of the Living Dead (1990)
  • Dawn of the Dead (2004)
  • Diary of the Dead(2008)

The ones in Bold are originals made by George A. Romero. The ones in Italics are remakes or Romero's movies.

Other great non-Romero zombie movies:

  • [REC] (The 2007 original. The American film Quarantine is a remake of this. The original is infinately better.)
  • Delamorte Delmore (AKA Cemetary Man)
  • Braindead (AKA DeadAlive. Peter Jackson's second film.)

I've left some out, so if you want to see even more, just tell me. Here are other non-zombie films you may enjoy that are somewhat related.

  • 28 Days Later (Not really zombies, but whatever)
  • 28 Weeks Later (Suprisingly good sequel)
  • The Evil Dead (You knew I'd list this. Great low-budget horror flick. Suprisingly original, and filled with brilliant camera tricks, all of which were made with a shoe-string budget. Just brce yourself for the infamous tree-rape scene. [Yeah, a woman is letterally raped by a possessed TREE in this movie. Hot shit.] My name here on SPP comes from the main character in these films, Ash.)
  • Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (Better than the first, and the best of the trilogy. Horror, slapstick comedy, and grotesque, creepy creatures. This one is like a bad acid trip mixed with a Warner Brother's cartoon.)
  • Army of Darkness (Last of the Evil Dead trilogy, and the most famous of the three films. This is also the only one that can possibly be shown on network television in the United States. This one is more action/fantasy/comedy than horror, though it is mildly creepy in one or two scenes. You may notice that the main character has been the inspiration for thousands of action heroes over the years, and you may notice hundreds of tidbits that have been referenced over the years, namely the immortal line "This is my BOOMSTICK!" which has been famously said in World of Warcraft and other games/films)
  • My Name is Bruce (This one is a bit different. It's a movie about Bruce Campbell, who played the main character in the Evil Dead trilogy. Some of his fans think he is actually Ash, and get him to fight real monsters, while he thinks it's all jsut a movie. However, he's Bruce Campbell, a 48 year old actor, not Ash, savior of humanity, so he gets his ass kicked. I havent' seen this yet, but I'm sure I'll like it, just because of the way Bruce Campbell portrays himself as an extreme caractature, and pokes fun at his rabid fans.)

I thought it was good but most of them died in downright stupid ways.

Yes, it's one of the two films where people are in a mall.

As you might imagine, Dawn of the Dead '78 is the other such film.
