I think I have.... What was it called?

Well, I did what the end of this trailer said, and this film wasn't the first result. It wasn't the second, third, fourth, or fifth either. Not even the sixth or seventh, but the EIGHTH RESULT.

So, what's this movie about then? Natural disasters (Tidal waves), bullshit cause (The end of the Mayan calendar), Roland Emmerich in the director's chair, and a name involving dates (2012).
Wait, I know, it's that movie The Day after Tommorrow, right?

NO. It's 2012, and it's exactly the same as that other movie, only in more varried locations, and instead of using global cooling as the disaster's bullshit cause, they use the END OF THE MAYAN CALENDAR.

Boring, and I've already seen this movie. It was sub-par, and it's only redeeming qualities were the presence of Jake Gylenhall and Ian Holm.

Jake Gylenhall didn't do anything with The Day After Tomorrow that any other decent actor could do.

It's also a bit late to be criticizing a movie because of a similar premise, isn't it?

I wouldn't have a problem if it didn't have the SAME DIRECTOR.

The same director trying to do the same film again with the same general premise and the same disasters.

Same disasters? TDAT was all about a blizzard, and so far 2012 is showing a flood.. I know there was one in TDAT but it wasn't really the disaster the movie focused on. That and I doubt 2012 will only focus on a flood.

Plus TDAT was pretty much a commentary on political and environmental issues stemming from global warming, and 2012 is going to be a "nature's going to kick our ****ing asses" sci-fi movie. That and there will be different people with different stories, different ways of surviving the problem...

I can see where you're coming from, but I'm sure the movies will be different enough in their own rights.

Generic and cheesy trailer.

"THEY WOULDN'T."

But, the water rushing over the mountains did look pretty cool. I might see it.
