Well, I sure as hell wouldn't like it if I became semi-known on the animation community for my super cool animations and then see someone that isn't quite as popular copy it almost down to the bone.

In fact, I'd be quite annoyed and would try to get the person to stop using my style, or develope his own using bits and pieces from my style and someone else's style that is also appealing.

I've seen a lot of animations where there are obvious rip offs, but then again, it's usual a punch or a combo that has been copied. I'm usually fine with that, because they're only experimenting as they've only used one thing off of my animation and incorporated it into their own style, but what Strills is doing is everything is the same. If Strills made an animation and doesn't label it his, I honestly would not be able to tell if he made it or if it belongs to Terkoiz.

There's the, "oh hey, that part must've been inspired by Terkoiz!" animation and then there's the, "oh hey, this part looks like it's been inspired by Terkoiz! and this..oh wait this part too..and this..wait.." animation.

I understand that Strills is only animating "for fun", as he likes to put it and yes, he has the right to do whatever he wants, but you really can't control what other people say in response to his animations. Strife and Tman goes to Shiftlimits and there is where Terkoiz posts frequently so I'm pretty sure they're pretty acquainted with each other. Strife and Tman probably doesn't like how Strills gets good comments by some members by animating something that is almost 100% similar to the "real" owner of the style.

To simply put it, they're angry that someone is effortlessly animating something with someone else's style while they're trying their best to become known by experimenting and trying things out on their own.

Also, Strife and Tman, if this is not what you're thinking and you're only posting against Strills from your own hate, please say so because I'm taking a wild guess.

8. Just let him animate and give him REAL CC like he wanted, faggots.

Notes:
I'm not attacking anyone, I just disagree with many of you.

Probably because I'm not meaning to insult anyone. Did I point anyone out and directly call them an insulting name? Please enlighten me and point out any part of my post where I say "You guys are all asshole faggots for thinking strills is a copier" or "Strife is a dipshit ****tard for believing something that I think is wrong". I called them faggots for not giving him real CC, but that's wasn't really to be taken as a personal insult. I can be mature too....

...faggot. :P

@Kensei: That's neat. I just thought I'd give a random example, and I was apparently wrong in that one, but I think you get my point...

That's you. I'd be flattered. ;p

arrite. I wouldn't say he does EVERYTHING the same, but arrite.

There's the, "oh hey, that part must've been inspired by Terkoiz!" animation and then there's the, "oh hey, this part looks like it's been inspired by Terkoiz! and this..oh wait this part too..and this..wait.." animation.

No one's trying to control replies, I'm only saying they're being a bit harsh on the matter. And I'd like to reiterate that no one can own a style. :)

To simply put it, they're angry that someone is effortlessly animating something with someone else's style while they're trying their best to become known by experimenting and trying things out on their own.

I wouldn't call anything Strills does in his animations as "effortless". Coming up with a style was easy for me and works for me. The same happened for Strills, except he was inspired to make his own animations like Terkoiz's. I think the difference in effort doesn't come into question when thinking of making your own style.

Not in an attempt to personally offend, or "Insult" them. Do you get it?

Not really. You called me a faggot a few posts ago, and I'm pretty sure you meant to offend or "Insult" me.

The ":P" was meant to make the mood jocular. I'm sorry if you cried hard though. That wasn't really meant to offend either.

Oh and I may be wrong on this but I thought Tention and Nhazul are like close friends and develped the style together :/?

As far as I know, Tention began with outline thin sticks when he saw some stuff from Frozenphoenix, and I think Nhazul copied him, then Outphase came along with thicker sticks and outlining.

Oh, and on-topic: Your stupid if you bitch about things not being original, as long as noone ever made serious money with it, there is no copyright involved as far as it goes with styles, and so far I know nobody in this forum works for disney animating sticks and makes money for it.

the way i look at it is that you can copy anyones style, but it should only be given critisism if its not done well.

So something done with a style the same as another is beyond critisism when it's done well, or do you think it's not worth the reviewer's time?

SCOEEN ON EEN DIS BREAD?

You cannot copyright a style of animating. You can't really copy a style of animation.

Ummm... copying someones style isnt bad , if it looks good who cares , do I have to remind you that animating isn't a contest? If that would be than yeah it would matter how original someone is but if its just for entertainment who cares? If it looks good that's all that matters. I don't see why people could be against that , they take this stuff way to seriously.

On the first page I read this post and truly didn't care what came up. What he said about animating not being a contest changed (if only very slightly) my views on animating. No touching moment here but I would like to comment and say he is completely right. Good debate topic btw. must have taken forever to type up.
