Alright, guys. Time for you to see the greatest movie made... from South America. I am dead serious. The post-processing effects, cinematography; everything. It's dead-on perfect and is definitely commercial quality. Plus, the storytelling is some of the best (in par with Fight Club, I'd say).

Alright, so the movie takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A small slum called Cidade de Deus, or, obviously, City of God, was made in the '60s to house the poor. The living conditions there were horrible and street gangs ruled the land. In the '80s, it became the most violent place in Rio de Janeiro, or, hell, all of Brazil.

Now, I really can't get in-depth because this movie is all plot and yet all incredible. But I can tell you this: It's based off of real events and is a true story - the characters really did exist. Oh, and it's got plenty of drugs and killing, and some sex too. Fun for the whole family!

There is one downside, however. I haven't seen or heard of any English translations (The movie is in Portuguese; the language of Brazil) but there are crude English subtitles, of course. If you don't mind reading a little while watching, you're good to go.

If you aren't in to finding movies and all of that jazz, you can watch it on Youtube, of course. But, uh, there's only a handful of providers so bare with me here.

Part one (Super high quality for Youtube)

Watch part two here. It kind of has bits of part one in there and has far less quality since the first guy hasn't uploaded any more. Well, he did, but if you proceed to watch them you'd lose some parts. From here on down, though, the video quality will just be standard Youtube. Sorry.

Part three

Part four

Part five

Part six

Part seven

Part eight

Part nine

Part ten

Part eleven

Part twelve

Part thirteen

Part fourteen

Good god, this is a great film. It's not my favorite, but I think it's definately the most well-made.

I'm suprised noone made a thread for it before now. I think I did when I saw it about a year ago.

The most amazing part is that a huge deal of the cast were from the real City of God and had no acting experience whatsoever. Really, I think this makes the acting even more incredible because it seems that they really are playing out their parts because they're having recollections of the past as well. This blows method acting way out of the water.

Watching this film on youtube does not do it justice. I urge those who haven't seen it to get it on DVD, and watch it on a huge screen, turned up loud.

Although that seems rather vulgar for such a brilliant film, a fully immersive viewing will blow you away.

It's actually really interesting, action packed and represents real life gang lives and the risks around it.
