When I think of an unstoppable force, I just think of something that doesn't need to slow down for anything. It doesn't necessasarily need to move fast at all, and it doesn't need to be big. You're thinking to logically about the whole thing. Of course there are no unstoppable forces that we know of, and we can't even comprehend how one would be possible. But I do think that it is possible for an object to pass through another like I stated, and in that way it is in theory "unstoppable." With all the weird quantum physics and alternate universes and time warps, and string theory and shit, I don't doubt at all that it's possible.

Have you ever taken a physics class?

Even the smallest amount of force accelerates any object of any mass, even if that acceleration is too small to be perceived. If you jump, you're moving the earth in the opposite direction, because for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. For an unstoppable force to exist, it would imply that any action it creates on an object does not reflect back onto the force, even slightly.

Wow kyveo, you're supposed to use e5 anyways.

Prospect, I think the universe as a whole is an immovable object. Nothing can physically move the universe because you can't physically hit it with anything.

An ustoppable force could be a black hole, not even light can escape it.

the way I see it is that the universe is just the collection of all matter, and it is not a singular object and therefore cannot be moved. However the word universe is used to describe everything that physically exists, and our universe has infinite volume,
which if taking in account that it includes everything that physically exists, it could possibly have infinite mass making it our unmovable object,
but it all depends what you think the parameters for an object is.

a black hole has a finite mass, which means it cant possibly be either.
but you had a point with the universe thing.

If you press your hand to a concrete wall. Your hand will eventually pass through the wall if you wait long enough (give or take a couple thousand years).

It's possible to pass through things without creating a paradox. There's tons of empty space in between atoms. Not to mention the electron cloud around an atom is mostly empty space anyway. However, Exilement summed up my ideas about this debate.

Really, you watched the Dark Knight and the only thing you want to talk about is that rhetorical question?

well the conversation struck up when my friend and I were high and talking about crazy shit.
that quote stuck in my head because its quite the quandary. Infinity is a very puzzling idea for me and I just wanted to hear your thoughts.
when I heard that quote, I was really wondering what that giant black guy was gonna do.

well miniman actually just gave me a reasonable answer.
dont wonder how that could be possible anymore.
thanks :D

If atoms are just passing each other through the empty space between them, then what force is being applied?

And for whoever said it, the universe isn't an object.

A galaxy is just a collection of objects, like stars and asteroids and other clutter, all of which are not "unstoppable".

answer:

But seriously, there would be no way for either object/force to continue, so either one of them would HAVE to cease to exist, or the unstoppable force would literally have to go around the object...

This is one of those useless dicussions that flls under the realm of philosophy, not physics.

The answer is that when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, the Joker is hung upside down by Batman.

Matter can not be created or destroyed, so the universe does not have infinite mass (plus its mostly made of anti-matter which means nothing absolutely, so not a lot of mass anyways)
