hi, ive being doing flash with the brush tool, but can you draw the line and free transform it on animations to keep consistency of length?

I wouldn't recommend free transforming; it ends up looking a bit shitty. You CAN use the line tool as an alternative to brush, but most people who do that re-draw it every frame or simply drag and drop the lines each frame.
If your problem is consistency, I recommend finding out what Onion Skin is. It's on the bottom bar of your timeline window, and looked like two little squares (the left most one of the three buttons). You will see curly brackets appear around your frames, with is the limits of the "ghosts" it will show of other frames. With this used properly you should get more consistent.

Why don't you try it. This will give you a definitive answer.
