They are new. They don't know the backgrounds of this site.
If the are posting a thread about hi I'm new, should we really flame them.
We could at least tell them to go post in the welcome thread.
Is it worth flaming new members.

No. It's unfair if they didn't know any better. You should direct them to the welcome thread and delete the topic they created as quietly and quickly as possible with minimal fuss.

Thats me! for your example.
you can delete that however when i joined i could'nt find the welcome thread and I diddnt have any idea I wasnt allowed. I do know now.
However flaming (even though im not sure what it means sept insulting people) would probily be wrong. Did everyone flame you when you joined?
Your more likely to repel people than attract them.

Yeah flaming is just insulting people and TYPING EVERYTHING AT THEM IN CAPS.
Don't worry about it - it happens to the best of us.
Well... it probably happened to the best of us when he was new. Whoever he is.

The thing that gets me upset sometimes is that there is a welcome thread and if you read the rules, yeah right, you can avoid any of the things that new members get flamed for. Read the stickies and you're on the safe side. It's not like we're flaming people just because they're new, people are being flamed because they behave stupid and stubborn.

If they're new to the entire concept of forums they may not know to look at stickies or to try and find rules. Ignorance is not the same as stupidity. I am completely ignorant of the religion Jainism beyond that I know it exists and is quite old. I know a Jainist guy whose thick as pig shit but he still is less ignorant on the subject of his religion than I am. You may argue that I'm not intelligent which would be fair enough, you don't know me and I can't prove otherwise, but I suspect Einstein didn't know much about Jainism either.

I find it hard to believe some times that you can find out of how to post, but not how to read the stickied thread saying "READ THIS FIRST!!".
But hey, ignorance, right?
But it's not a reason to flame. But that doesn't deny the right, it's the Internet, no-one cares if you cry.
I try not to be such an ass though, but sometimes I can't help it, and why should I?

This isn't a debate. Flaming is against the rules, if you do so you will be banned whether the member is new or not. I'm trashcanning this because, as I said, it isn't a debate.
