How did you get started in animating? I mean like, how did you go about learning. Did you take classes? I was just curious so I posted this. Just a casual question.

Usually people just learn through practice and observation. Watch more talented animator's creations and learn from them. Tutorials may also help, such as these: http://www.stonesbucket.com/tutorials.php

Use internet, the best mentor, ever.

I saw a video. It Wow'd the crap off my dusty 11 year old self. I said at that moment: "I want to... NO, I WILL become that awesome." and thats how I started. (btw it was shock 2)

I watched stick figure animations FBF for a few months before I finally figured out how to get the program, by that time I had done a lot of traditional animation and the transition into computer animation wasn't too difficult

I don't animate anymore though.

1. join more than 1 animtion sites (preferabley stick such as fluidanims and stickpage)
   
2. watch many stick animations, good ones from people like terkoiz and jcamelo...and bad ones too..
   
3. choose your style...line, brush, or pencil
   
4. attempt an animation...using tutorials if you want
   
5. psot it where people can tell you how to get better
   
6. imporove on it
   
7. repeat the process from (4)

yep....pretty much what i did :S

i LEARNED most of the movements from xiao xiao 3...and then made them my own style and developed what i knew to create better stuff etc

I have always loved drawing and was amazed when i found i could make them come to like if pivot!! than I got some pro software and just started animatin!!
