View Profile I managed to confuse myself in a differant thread with this notion but I didn't want to drag that one too far off topic so I'll start it here.
I'm saying it shouldn't have to but it will if we're gonna have anything close to an actual debate. In a perfect world we could have a reasonable discussion. Then again in a perfect world there would be no disagreement so there could be no debate. And that world wouldn't be perfect anyway because I couldn't have fun taking the piss out of creationists. Is there such a thing as a perfect world? omg I have to create a thread to discuss this.
Basically can there ever be such a thing as a perfect world?
What would a perfect world be like?

I sorta meant like a matrix kind of reality where what we perceive is an individual experience

But would it be perfect if we were forever deceived?
"Perfect" is too relative a term to be used in a debate.
Prehaps then we should debate the nature of what a perfect world must entail before we begin.
Is a perfect world one where everyone is in a constant state of ecstasy?

View Profile But Zed if one is in any environment for any period of time, it becomes the norm and flaws will then begin appearing in it. Like if every one was in a constant state of ecstasy after a while you would need a greater level of ecstasy to achieve the same level of happiness.

View Profile I appreciate that, but if you had an ever increasing level of happiness would that be perfect? Of course you may have to increase the rate of increase and then increase the rate of that but you see my point. What I'm asking at this stage is whether constant hapiness is desirable.

View Profile In my opinion, there could be no such thing as a perfect world, at least not as a general term. There could be a world that is perfect for a few of us but nothing like perfect for everyone due to significant differences in each person's personality and wishes.

In a perfect world everyones wishes would be the same - ie. to live in the perfect world.
