I've heard it's pretty dated. The controls that were so good in RE4 are old and not very innovative anymore, and serve as more of a frustration than a challenge.

XPLAY gave it 3/5 stars, and my friend, who had the gmae preordered, agrees with that score.

I disagree. I think you need to play a game, not just base it off of xplay and your friend. The controls work fine, I am loving this game.

Excuse me? I've heard that they are almost identecal, in function if not in layout.

Make a diagram showing the controls, please.

EDIT: Here's the one for RE5:
http://www.danbirlew.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/re5-008.jpg

And compare to RE4:

D-Pad or Left Analog Stick Up or Down move forward or back
D-Pad or Left Analog Stick Left or Right rotate left or right
L1 or R1 Button + D-Pad or Left Analog Stick aim weapon
Right Analog Stick adjust camera view
Start Button open subscreen
Select Button options screen, skip movies
X Button action
R1 + X Button fire, attack
Square or Circle Button + D-Pad or Left Analog Stick Up run
Square or Circle Button + D-Pad or Left Analog Stick Down 180° turn
R1 + Square or Circle Button reload
Triangle Button open map
R2 Button communicate with ashley
R1 Button ready weapon
L1 Button ready knife, switch to key or treasure screen on the subscreen
L1 + X Button knife attack

No need to get all pissy. The controls are somewhat similar, but nowhere close to "identecal"

It's a good game with average controls and an excellent story. I love how you judge a game completely based on the demo.

The demo is my first impression. I may see that otherwise when I play the actual game.

I can understand a hate of the controls, but they're not that bad.

The main thing about Resident Evil is the story, so if you're uninterested, then it makes sense to not like it.

I don't like games that require a story. Resi 5 - story = Frustrating controls slapped onto an average adventure.

That's just saying you prefer uninteresting games with good gameplay.

The gameplay isn't anywhere near as bad as you're making it out to be. And I've completely 5/6 of the game, so I'm pretty sure I have a better idea about the game than you.

I disagree. I've found the RE5 story to be cheesey as hell. It's not very good at all. It's the gameplay that is why I am loving this game.

Well I love the full story.

Then again, I simply love zombies.

SPOILER ALERT
[invisible]
- The Plague Doctor aka Hooded Figure is Jill Valentine.
- Wesker dies. It's awesome.

I beat the game, I beat the game with a friend, I beat most of mercenaries now, I need to unlock the costumes I guess then I just wait for the DLC.

RE5 isnt nearly as inovative as RE4, but that doesn't make it bad. It's a pain to not be able to move and shoot, but with the added use of a bunker system aswell as quick time dodges I hardly notice, unless Im playing the chanisaw dude.

It's a good game, but the puzzles are laughable and the story it either a hit or miss.

I started off hating the control scheme

...then I actually played the game, and I basically got over it rather quickly

It adds a little to the "OH SHIT I'm cornered and it takes a while to aim and such..."

No. If a game has a great story it makes it more memorable. But I don't like games that nearly almost require the story to be good.

Well Dragon just said the story was cheesy and that he only plays it for the gameplay. And Mr. Pinkus said he pretty much hated it for the same reason as you until he really played it.

Maybe you should save your judgement til you actually try the game.

I was frustrated at the demo and hated the demo.
I am on 5-1 on the game right now, I'm loving the game.

I always loved the story, I don't think it's cheesy at all, although the voice acting on Irving... could have been... ehh

<3 Irving anyways, even though he only has like 2 minutes in total of cut scene time, then he like explodes and starts rambling on about a cave and laughs uncontrollably.
