lmao...
Thank god for someone that has a clue. If you've ever watched Mixed Mixed Martial Arts, it's pretty common knowledge that the most effective bases for fighting are: wrestling, Muay Thai, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo/Sambo.
What about fighters like George St. Pierre and Lyoto Machida.
GSP did kyokushin karate, and Machida's dad is a 10th dan Black belt in shotokan. One of the reasons they do so well in the UFC is because of their awkward striking skills. Most people find it hard to train for.
But I do agree with you though. Those fighting styles are a MUST for MMA. Even the guys I mention train in most of them, as they are both BJJ black belts, and GSP's wrestling is probably one of, if not the best is the welterweight divsion.
All I'm saying though is, there is no 'absoloute BEST martial art' Each one has it's disadvantages and advantages. And at the end of the day, it's not about the martial art, it's about the martial artist.
I practice Judo, and even I will say that BJJ and Judo are almost identical, with BJJ focusing more on ground fights. Should have just included it there with the Judo/Sambo thing.
And MMA does not equal actual fights, homeboy. I like watching MMA, and I do believe Judo is effective (can't say I've practiced much else aside Jeet Kune Do[Which is essentially equivalent to saying "my own style mixed with Bruce Lee Knowledge"] to say they're effective as well), however MMA is not reality. Muay Thai is good, but it's not the only/most effective base out there.
the reason WHY Judo and BJJ are so simerlar is becuase BJJ is just a branch of Judo. And Judo is a branch of Japanese JJ.
You're right about 'MMA does not equal real fight'. though it's the closest we can get to, without it being illegal. and besides, MMA is just a sport, NOT a self defence program/
