No, it's something more complicated, I'm sure the people at gimptalk can figure it out. I think it's more to do with lighting.

I made another version of the kirby signature, and made something new.

that's sort of a default response, I'd say the focal point is pretty clear in the joker one (which is pretty sweet, by the way)
the colors part though is true, in that one especially your colors are pretty bland, and your lighting in some of them makes them look flat, I think
